Mass Effect Twitter Thread

Hey, just to double check real quick...

I pre-ordered a physical copy for XB1. There is nothing I can do to pre-download/install the patches and updates before the disc arrives, correct?

Alrighty, about to head out on a week's vacation in Andromeda. (I'm sure I'll pop my head in here every once in a while though!).

This isn't a long discussion meant for the Twitter thread, but I'll answer. There's a difference between being lazy and making mistakes/mismanaging your time. If Bioware decided to be too ambitious for MEA, and then had to cut back the scale of their game closer to launch, then maybe some stuff had to get cut. Maybe they couldn't polish it up / fully re-fix the game in time before EA turned around said "After 5 years, this game is releasing, now!"

This does not excuse any potential flaws of MEA, which I have yet to play. But we have no idea how development went for MEA. If it's like the scenario I described above, then could you really call them lazy? It'd be more like "We mismanaged our time and resources and made mistakes". And even if it isn't the scenario I described above, there could be a million other reasons why the game has flaws and missing parts, not just "lazy".

Like I said, some of the devs were passionate Mass Effect fans. They would be more motivated than anyone to put out a quality Mass Effect product. And the veterans of the series wanted to "redeem the franchise" after Mass Effect 3. If I were in charge of doing that, the last thing I would do is be lazy, for fear of screwing up and making it worse. So all the devs had reasons to be motivated for MEA, big time.

Could you call out the devs for making mistakes and mismanaging the project? Absolutely. But without knowledge of how development went, to call the devs lazy when you don't have the facts is just plain guessing.
