Mass Effect @masseffect To prepare for patch 1.08, our servers will go down at 8AM PT on June 8 for 1 hour. Multiplayer and Strike Teams will be unavailable.
What is this sound bug by the way? Seen you mentioned it ahead of every patch thus far.
Mostly in MP ... but have seen it on rare occasion in SP. On PC, though it might affect other platforms, don't know.
In its most benign version, the announcer and a few other ancillary sounds cut out.
In its more egregious version, game sounds are completely lost ... though you can still hear and talk to your squadmates. Can't just exit MP (or switch to SP), have to close out the game and restart. Generally, I don't need to reboot my PC, but apparently some folks do ... I think that's rare.
After patch 1.06, it seemed to occur less frequently, but still happens quite a bit. Not limited to any single map or faction, nor tied to APEX missions ... can happen in any match at any time. Often, it cuts out early in wave 1, but I've had it cut out in any wave, to include extraction. I've been in matches where three out of four folks had lost sound by the time we extracted.

The sound thing happens to me a lot in the vaults (SP) but also during random fights wherever. Very annoying. Still have dialogue and music but absolutely no sound effects. Or, the sound effect starts to play then cuts out. I also hope this patch fixes the Nomad sounds that got buggered in the hotfix.
Michael Gamble @gamblemike Been reading a lot of comments lately on various internet places. Lots of people do like MEA. That's a good thing for us to hear.

Which shows a whole bunch of previously unknown alien races from the Milky Way, and as ME:Galaxy is set pre-ME2 then they can't be Lystheni, Kirik, Raloi or Virtual Aliens (the 4 background races existing that we have no art for).
I don't use twitter, but is there anyone here that would be kind enough to tweet one of the writers or producers to ask whether we will ever get some lore for these unknown races or art/lore for the background races like the Virtual Aliens and the Raloi? I don't use twitter for a variety of reasons, but if anyone could do this for me then I'd be really grateful.
Just wondering, has anyone been kind enough to tweet them about it? I'd write to contact@bioware.com, but I've never had a response to anything.
I don't have twitter mate, sorry. Wish I could help you.
But I'm pretty sure that those are concepts from some known races, such as Drell (on the top corner), Volus(Small figures), Vorcha (the beggar. Inb4 Gavorn tricks) and Krogan (the big one). Not sure about that 4 armed figure though.
As sources say " Mass Effect Galaxy's art style differs from the core trilogy's art direction significantly. While the main trilogy utilizes a mostly photo-realistic look, Galaxy has a "graphic novel" look to it. This include 2D animated cutscenes and dialogue phase between actual combat levels in the game as well as exaggerated character models. This art style was chosen both to meet the specific graphical limitations of the device the game was being developed for, but also to allow certain unique identity to separate Mass Effect Galaxy from the core titles. The effect for the cinematics is a presentation that resembles to what a Mass Effect cartoon might look like. The artist chosen to portray this new look was Joy Ang."
For example, here is a model of Batarian ambassador Jath'Amon
IMO, since this is a concept that aiming for the area, not characters/a new species, it's pretty safe to say that some artist came up with those ideas, painting somethings resembling to known species (Vorcha, Volus, Krogan) and A) Those ideas got cut from the final product They were not used at all in-game and just remained on paper. So technically, lore-wise, they don't exist.
I wonder how many more patches there will be. I might give the game another chance now that the CC is finally getting fixed. Well, not exactly "fixed" since it's still what it is, but at least improved. But it might be better to wait until the final patch in case there's still some big improvements on the way...

I've seen it in MP from time to time, even after the patches for PC.
The SP sound seems to cut out for the first line of a converstion in my case. This is happening more frequently in the last few weeks. Luckily I have subtitles on permanently.
Kotaku's in-depth article explains the ME:A launch "bomb". Hm... I wonder if Bio MTL managers ever read The Peter Principle? It also shows that "extensive testing" and "polishing" were just words to placate ardent fans, knowing full well they were misleading. Patch 1.06 & 1.08 notes support this viewpoint. Mind, paying $39.00 for the basic game (after launch) is fair.
Nevertheless, kudos to the developer grunts who put in insane hours to "clean it up" because of management's failures. Reminds me of the Roman armies whose discipline came to the rescue many times when lead by incompetent generals.
We now have proof from two games that the engine required significant RPG "re-tooling" even after DA:I. Question is, will EA have DICE upgrade the engine to support these requirements? Will EA/game studios continue to use a network of global outsourcing assets? What can we expect from future RPGs using Frostbite?

yeah despite the problems you've had puttin it all together it's stil a decent game. It's not your finest but it's far from a bad game. But if you keep improving and adding to it we'll keep playing it I'm sure.
