Mass Effect @masseffect Reply with “Waving hand” to pet the Varren. #NationalDogDay
*forever salty because we couldn't bring Urz to the Normandy*
psh...they should've done that instead of the robot dog, it doesn't even have a proper face
-quietly hoping for someone to make a mod for LE to change the robot dog into Urz-
Always something to be killed, and I’m the one to do it – Hero of Ferelden ‘Hawke this, Hawke that,’ Why does everything fall to me? - Champion of Kirkwall Our concern must be the order and safety of this world, not the next. - The Inquisitor

Sophie is much better than Urz.
*shrug* that's your opinion, I'm a dog person so I prefer dogs with proper heads and tails (while the mabari in DA have the former, they lack the latter...at least Autumn has a proper tail)
I kinda like Varren, they're kinda cute...in a weird way

With the mabari, I think like some dogs their tails are cut so that they don't get in the way of battle since they are war hounds. Same reason a lot of fighting dogs don't have tails. Especially since as you said, Autumn has one. And I don't dislike Varren and agree. I just love the interactions with KEI-9/Sophie more.

I just find cutting an animal's tail to be highly disturbing, animals need tails to express themselves and as rudders for movement
I mean, I can understand the mabari having shorter tails as they are war hounds...but it still feels wrong
...that's my opinion anyway...or maybe it's due to the fact all the dogs I've owned thus far have had long swishy tails so maybe I'm a bit biased

Who would you rather spend a beach day with? (Poll)
1. Kaidan 2. Ashley
True friendships? For my Shepard, her/his true friendship started when meeting Harbinger. She/he liked him talking smack.
I would be with Ashley on the beach.

Hrungr Any chance we can get a duplicate twitter thread in the Future Mass Effect subsection? Since Andromeda is past now and a lot of the new users flocking to the site are likely going to check that subsection, rather than this one, in hopes for new tidbits and since the new game won't take place in Andromeda, or feature any/most of the old cast in any prevalent role, and by old cast, I mean the Andromeda cast, I think it would be better suited in the Future Mass Effect section.
Just a suggestion.
When I die, I want Bioware to carry my casket, so they can let me down, one last time.

We actually had planned on moving the Twitter Thread to the Future ME subforum. I think between getting super-busy, and it being quiet on the ME front, it just got put on the backburner.
There's an upcoming shuffle of the ME forums on N7 Day, so that'll probably be a good time to slot in the move. I'll get the ME Twitter Discussion thread going as well.
Some say that they develop it with ue, but didn't they did the same with andromeda, then jumped to frostbite?
I dont believe they would go for UE instead of inhouse Frostbite.

Yeah. Someone pointed out that the page of frostbite didn't mentioned mass effect when it debuted, only DA. Still i think it will be with frostbite. It will be great if it is with ue though.

Well, both are good in the hands of competent developers and Anthem showed us the face animation is not about engine (it never was) etc. Seen so bad, like terribad UE games in my gaming industry life... none of the frostbite games have been that bad. But that doesnt say anything about the engines in the end.
Both are good. Neither of them are designed for RPG's (lol)

The problem isn't the engine, in itself. It's the documentation and support. And Bioware, as far as Frostbite goes, was allegedly getting none of either.

Publisher Electronic Arts and developer BioWare are seriously considering using Unreal Engine for the next game in the Mass Effect series. This information primarily comes from an EA job listing for a technical director for Mass Effect 5. That post says the publisher is looking for candidates who have “experience with Unreal Engine [or higher].” I’ve confirmed through multiple sources that this is because everything is on the table when it comes to tech for a new Mass Effect — and that includes potentially replacing EA’s in-house Frostbite engine with Unreal.
Jeff Grubb @jeffgrubb Tiny scoop. A job listing says that EA is looking for a Mass Effect tech director who has experience in Unreal Engine. I've confirmed that the studio is strongly considering Unreal for Mass Effect 5.
At present, EA and BioWare are really considering all possibilities for Mass Effect 5. And a tech director is important to oversee that process. The company wants to embrace next-gen visual tech, and by 2023, when ME dev starts in full, Frostbite could be far behind Unreal.
So while Unreal is a strong strong possibility, it's also possible BioWare could be looking at Unreal to inform what it needs in Frostbite if it were to stick with EA's in-house tools. But in that process, it seems likely that devs will probably just want to stick with Unreal.
Linked in the story, Dragon Age 4 (still a Frostbite game) is expected in 2023.

"and by 2023, when ME dev starts in full". I am getting too old for games these days, by the time the next ME comes out I am doubtful I'll even be able to play it competently on anything other than "Story" mode.
