Interesting to hear Mac Walters say, around the 6:45 mark, that if they knew how much the consequences of the Suicide Mission would hamstring them for ME3, they would not have done it. He goes on to say that he's happy they took that risk and made ME2 the way they did, but implied that their future selves in ME3 had a tough time.

I mean, on the one hand, the Suicide Mission for me is one of the greatest video game missions of all time. But as far as trilogy planning goes, I definitely agree with him.

Around 9:00, he mentions that after ME1, they weren't sure what players would love the most: story, characters, side missions, etc. When the feedback came back and gamers just highlighted the characters of the game, that's what pushed the team to double down on the character development and develop the "dirty dozen" squadmates and suicide mission.

Also at 38:45, Mac Walters shows off the tool to track conversations and the different permutations with squadmates.

What was also interesting was that during the video, Mac Walters stated a few times that one thing he really liked about the Suicide Mission is that there was very little hand holding. You, as Commander Shepard the leader, had to make decisions, without numbers or a checkbox to tell you which one was right. You had to go with your gut feeling on whether to send a squadmate back with the crew, for example.

Curious to see how they basically turned away from that approach in ME3 with the War Asset system.

I never thought we would see the day where BioWare would release ME3 ending statistics! Obviously Destroy is the most popular choice, but Synthesis is more popular than I expected.
