Yes, notable mention should be Fallout 4, albeit its 2015 release. I got it this year and quite enjoyed it. It'd be my #1 if it had released 2016.

Having finished both Final Fantasy XV and The Last Guardian this week, both are the best games in 2016 for me. Uncharted was amazing too, but also left me a little too disappointed with some things.

Titanfall 2 is absolutely my favorite game of 2016. I dare say it is my favorite competitive shooter ever.
Honorable mentions to other important games this year go to Doom, Overwatch and XCOM 2.
Worst game I played and bought in 2016 was Battleborn.

Best game for me was Doom. Still playing it, and ID has released a shit load of free updates. They seriously deserve a ton of credit for sticking with true, old school gameplay. The most memorable gaming experience was Blood and Wine for numerous reasons, but mostly because it's a fitting ending for the series, unlike the White Frost craptastic rushfest.

For me the best of the year is Overwatch, not even a contest. Maybe Bioware even should take a few notes from the visual language of the characters, and damn well from the extreme polish of the shooting mechanics.

Overwatch for me as well. I even had to uninstall the game because I was skipping dinner just to play it. The best VR game has to go to Honey Select. I'm not biased or anything.

Best game I played was probably SOMA, though I'm pretty sure it came out in 2015.

Gosh, I'm still playing DAI (and DAO and DA2) This made me laugh because it's true for me too. I found DA March 2016 and the trilogy has been on replay ever since.

I'm gonna go with Uncharted 4 or Deus Ex:MD despite it's shortcomings. Blood and Wine was excellent, but I'm going to treat it as dlc since it actually is just that, even though it's meatier than most day one game releases. Kudos to Cd project red.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Not the best entry in the franchise overall, but gameplay evolved from its predecessor in a very good way. The weaknesses are all in storytelling. Even so, I loved playing it and I'm still playing it occasionally.
Honorable mention: XCOM 2. Basically the same problems as with DXMD. Great gameplay evolution, but there were elements in several aspects of the game that didn't make any sense. Also, cheap drama. Regardless, I'm still playing it.
2016 was an ok year for games, but not as good as 2015.

After long consideration i have decided to put this game as my number one best game of the year 2016. Yes Tomb Raider 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' is my number one but closely followed by Uncharted 4 my number two and my number three is Dishonored II.

Yes Tomb Raider 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' is my number one... I bought it as soon as it came out, expecting great things, but then I died so often in the intro sequence that I lost all motivation to go on, even though I got past it in the end. I guess I should try again some time.

I guess I should try again some time. I died not even once in the intro sequence but in my first playthrough i died a lot fighting that first boss bear oh i hated that bear so much and i lost motivation to for at least a month. Then i played the game again and i got passed the bear and the game grabbed me and now i really love the game so much even the bear is not a problem anymore.

^ I hate the bear fight too. I was frothing at the mouth because I couldn't grab any of the two branches of the tree in my attempt to swing to a safer distance from the bear. I gave up after dying too many times but I didn't stop playing. I figured I needed to craft more poison stuff so I galloped all over the place, looking for the plants, secret areas for better stuff to pick up, etc. Then I went back and kicked the bear's ass. I also didn't try very hard with the language translations. I did all the Greek since it's tied in to the main story but translating Russian was a pain and more so when one marker cannot be translated until you're past the zone. I refused to go back and find out what it said, it's probably gobbly gook.

Final Fantasy XV was easily my game of the year.
While crystals and nifle-whatever are getting tropey, it felt pretty good to care about a final fantasy game again.

Honestly, 2016 felt kinda dry for me. Uncharted was fun, Mirror's Edge was fun, Doom was fun, FFXV was fun, blah, blah, blah...
Nothing really WOWed me though. Like, I enjoyed my time with all of those games, but I wasn't able to really take anything from them overall. Which is especially disheartening to say about FFXV and Doom, because there was an ungodly amount of care put into the both of those. A surprising amount, really. FFXV just felt like it was missing a lot, no doubt because of its troubled development, and Doom just... well, it's not really the kinda thing I get really excited about. It was great, but only for what it was, which isn't really for me.
Fire Emblem Fates was pretty exciting to get my hands on, but I couldn't help but feel like everything was really shallow. The gameplay was great, but the characters were more one dimensional than they'd ever been, the main character was annoying, the supports were lame, the game went through a lot of localization changes that just rubbed me the wrong way... Even my avatar, Hinoka, is only really interesting in her character design, which I hate to admit, because I had so much hope for that game, and the dynamic that having two families would offer. I want to like her, but she's such a bland character. I suppose the most I can say is that she's better than Camilla.
Hyper Light Drifter was actually really cool, but I have yet to finish it. I think it's something I would really enjoy if I could sit in my own room and play it for extended periods of time, but it's just been overshadowed by other games that are easier to play in the social context in which I do most of my gaming nowadays.
Persona 5 is looking incredible, but I don't speak Japanese, so I have yet to play it.
Dark Souls III was too samey. It feels like Dark Souls was never meant to have sequels, but its own success ended up tearing it down. III is better than II, mechanically, but it brings nothing new to the table, and it borrows too much from Bloodborne, which now is a vastly superior game because it manages to remain a lot more focused.
Don't even get me started on Overwatch... It's fun, and the characters are awesome, and the gameplay is super tight... But, like, what's even there to experience? A bunch of hollow multiplayer games on repeat to try and scrounge up enough credit for a Play of the Game and some loot boxes? I can't for the life of me figure out how people play games like Overwatch for so long. The very nature of a multiplayer only game almost completely robs you of anything worth taking with you when you step away from the screen. Where are the characters I'm supposed to care about? Where's the story that's supposed to make me stay up all night wanting to know what happens next? I guess, in general, my question is "Where's the content"? It's so completely devoid of anything to do after you've played all the maps and tried out all the heroes. Maybe I just don't get multiplayer only games.
All-in-all, 2016 was kind of just "meh". It wasn't abysmal, but it could have just as well not have happened at all and I wouldn't have a different opinion.
