Kipper mentioned cake and I got it in my head that I'd bake one ad decorate it with a shout out to this thread But that would be too much wouldn't it? There is no such thing as too much cake!

I've finished the Awakening. I think I spent most of the playtime trying to craft runes, and figure out why I can't make Grandmasters lightening rune necessary to finish wade's quest. Apparently at some point I made a grave mistake of defending the farmland, not the trade routes, so no etching is available. Well, whatever. I just crafted gazillion flame ones to build a sword. My endings were pretty happy, despite my not putting down noble rebellion in time and confronting peasants at some point. But everyone survived, castle stood, Amaranth got repaired after my defending it, and my Warden by some reason retired from the order. Which I found odd. But the epilogue placed her with Zevran in Antivia, and all the companions lived as well. Nice job! The worst thing about Awakening is the rune-crafting system. Unnecessarily painful! It did have a decent story at least and was the most important of the Origins DLC. "Leliana's Song" is worth doing if you like Leliana. Witch Hunt is worth doing only if your Warden did the Dark Ritual with Morrigan. Are you going to give DA2? I've created a character in DA2, and liked combat much better. But I tried a female rogue, and the voice is unpleasant (I disliked it as a female imperial agent as well) + I will not be able to play with Varric. So, I will try again with a male mage, though I do not like his LIs. At any rate, the combat is nice, but I will need to add a custom map to my mouse for it, etc. I want to finish my run of ME3 though. It does look neat, cleaner graphics, better and faster actions. I just could not create a character I like, and cc as usual are too hard for me to adjust into a face I like. I'd stay with a female rogue if I could make a cool face, despite the voice and having to forgo Varric.

Like his LIs? All four options are available to both genders. Enjoy that simplicity, I definitely did. Unless you're saying you only play a heterosexual of either gender... Which I find odd and ask why? Haha
I've read that Anders is better fleshed out for a male partner in unmodded games.
Merrill is only naive about human culture. She's got a very strong backbone and a dedication o being nice towards people.
Isabella is a tricky lady. They kinda Morrigan -ized her, so she approves of some shady acts (but not -all-) and definitely approves of being a Merc. But she is anti slavery and anti abusive husbands. Focus on bringing her along the first two acts.
I hope you at least do the Legacy DLC. MOTA and Sebastian are very very optional to the point of almost being narritively irrelevant. I like to do it mid to late act 3.
And I would suggest other party arrangements depending on whether you're pro mage or pro Templar but the hurt in that game can make almost any pro mage side with the Templars so... I'll only tell more if you want about end game decisions that lead to sadness

Yeah, I've just read that the romances are player-sexual, so I will reroll a male, hoping the voice is better and not so accented. Isabella sounds like another Risha, and Merrill was boring in DA:O. I am more interested in Anders and Fenris. Mage also would let me keep Varric, but I liked rogue combat, and it makes sense with Carver and Bethany, though I don't know how long you are forced to play with them.

And that she is so sweetly and amazingly loyal if you break her walls down. I heart Fenris tons and tons so I recommend him. He's pro Templar and anti slavery but you can still friendmance him even as a mage if you just think about the quests you bring him on. But rivalmanced can be enjoyable too. I just prefer the friendmance.

Risha is a pirate princess that always have the last word (omg, so witty! So cool,) no matter what, she is also ever so smart and all male NPCs fawn over her, and she directs pc's quests for a while bossing him around, but the male pc can win her over, discovering the golden and tender heart beneath all thouse thorns, and win over a perfect aristocrat that is wooing her to marry and rule the planet she will inherit.... I have a feeling Isabella is similar to this, because Bio loves recycling. The best part of Risha's romance was dumping her for Akaaavi after she, omg, stooped to take your smuggler as her husband. It was worth suffering through her bs for it.
I overall just do not like high maintenance characters that require titanical efforts to please to omg, win their respect/love, while they are being mean, too cool for school, and you can never put them into their place.

Whoa. Isabella is nothing like that at all, I can assure you of that. She's a pirate. She's into casual sex, you actually have to turn it into a romantic relationship yourself. She's definitely not thinking she's too good for anyone, she may even think she's not worth loving? But that makes it sound like she has self esteem issues, and she doesn't. She's laid back. You'll see.

It's nice that they give you the short sequence to try the class out, I might just run all three to see which one I would like playing.

@domi
Also, there is no Titan effort in this game. You get the same scenes for each character- Dialogue and tone and emotion change based on whether it's a friendship or a rival interaction. A player never has To go out of their way to please because you get points either way. It's not like Origins where if you didnt chase -approval- they withhold scenes and may be leave. But if you don't bring them along on quests in 2 you may not get enough points from conversation alone. Essentially, you miss out on content if you ignore them. You have time with ALL the characters until the end of Act 3 (the crisis point) to get them high enough in either direction. But STORY dictates that Isabella's crisis point come sooner at end of Act 2 and has nothing to do with her being high maintenance.
Playing my first time as a rogue, I never brought her anywhere, so we were pretty much strangers come end of Act2 and it bit me. I'm not saying you have to suck up to her (in fact, make her mad! I prefer rivalry Isabella) I'm just saying time must be spent so you can get the points at all. And you have a smaller window for her compared to the others. So, if you can, bring her along.
If it makes you feel better, she follows you no matter what after that. Varric, sibling, and Isabella don't have a crisis point in Act 3.

Nice job! The worst thing about Awakening is the rune-crafting system. Unnecessarily painful! It did have a decent story at least and was the most important of the Origins DLC. I'm surprised; I liked the female voice and stuck with the "Iconic female Hawke" minus the blood slash. As to problems creating a decent looking character with the CC (I always have that issue myself), for Inquisition, there are plenty of people who have posted sliders of attractive characters they've created on Nexus Mods. I was going to recommend the same for DA2, but doing a search myself, all I found was this: www.nexusmods.com/dragonage2/mods/2384/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fdragonage2%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D2384%26preview%3D&pUp=1You can check out nexus mods just the same to see if you can find something I missed. I'm surprised you despise Varric so much. (At least he's not Oghren -- unless of course you liked Oghren. ) In any case, once you've acquired sufficient companions, Varric is only absolutely necessary for one set of missions at the end of Act I. (Although there's no avoiding his cut scenes with Cassandra.) If you like the combat in DA2, then you'll ultimately like DA Inquisition. Inquisition takes DA2's combat system and refines it some more. The Frostbite engine also has greatly improved graphics.

Inquisition takes DA2's combat system and refines it some more. The Frostbite engine also has greatly improved graphics. I just find Jo Wyatt voice unpleasant. I have played female imperial agent she'd voiced in SWTOR, and did not like it. I wish they did different voice for each class like in SWTOR. The F!smuggler was great, I'd play that as a rogue. Anyway, I am going to try a male, to see if a va is more my thing. I am used to not having cc I want, because I'd like a character that looks like Melinda Mei or similar dangerously awesome Oriental face. I looked at some 'faces of gaming' DA2 page with different cc but I did not see anything remotely like that. I am also a bit afraid to search extensively, because things that come up on the search can be, erm, racy. No, no, I really WANT to have Varric. That's why I am reluctant to play a rogue myself, because of the same role, and rogues won't stack as well as mages. I have no plans to purchase Inquisition. Andromeda is almost here, and chances are it is an open world, and huge, so it would take me a long time to get through it, plus new MP. That's likely 2 years right there. I still largerly prefer Mass Effect to DA.

I just prefer the friendmance. domi Ditto everything phoray posted. Choose the class you want to play and leave it at that. You won't have both siblings with you the whole game as you'll soon find out. As to romances, Varric is not a romanceable character nor is Avelene. Except for Sebastian who I believe is straight, all other companions swing both ways. So choose the gender you prefer. As you can tell from phoray's post, the main issue in the game is mages versus Templars. Some of the companions break hard to one side or the other. (Having Anders and Fenris on the same team is like mixing nitro and glycerin banter-wise!) domi, I remember you mentioning how bland the Dalish Origin story was. And that, of course, explains DAO Merrill, who comes off as the Keeper's colorless, obedient teacher's pet. In DA2, that changes dramatically! In DA2, you also see the beginning of giving elves Gaelic accents. And the voice actress here is very good and makes the character charming! Isabela is also fleshed out more in DA2.

Yeah, my family ended up a h2s3, so I must have been starting from one of the Asian presets, I just could not get the look I want with the sliders. I should probably print out a picture that I like and have it at my desk when nudging the sliders. Anyway, I will try with the males as well, and try out all the three classes to see what I like the most.

Have you ever seen the www.flamewarriorsguide.com/ website? I hotly recommend. It helps me with walking away from continue to engage people I dislike. And, yes, I know it hurts when something you do like or have created, gets trashed, but there is nothing for it.

Someone stop me from arguing Dragon Age greatness Against the lost cause of people determined to hate it. It's so time consuming but I can't seem to help myself. I have disproven jazz "facts" so many time on BSN by now I'm loathe to pick it up over here as well. Still I cannot help myself from pointing out double standards and such from time to time. Just as long as I don't waste to much energy on it. Someone stop me from arguing Dragon Age greatness Against the lost cause of people determined to hate it. It's so time consuming but I can't seem to help myself. There is no truer saying in arts and entertainment than tastes differ. In those matters, there is no Right and wrong. So true but I'm still surprised by the number of people out there that firmly believes that their subjective opinion is an objective fact.

Did some troll dump a nasty anti-DA post somewhere? I haven't seen it, but then again, I haven't strayed much beyond this thread lately. on the first page of General discussion, there are two threads. One is, wasn't Dragon Age Inquisition a disappointment?. The second is " this game is garbage. Prove me wrong." This is on top of the constant comparisons Dragon Age Inquisition to The Witcher 3. Which is a comparison that shows up and every thread where we discussed how Dragon Age 4 could learn and improve

Calling a game a disappointment is a fair enough opinion though. My boyfriend tried two or three times to get into DAI but it just doesn't work for him, even if the story might be interesting there's too much stuff that puts him off, which makes DAI a disappointment for him. And I don't see why that opinion is supposed to be wrong?
Also there are definitely games out there that are garbage and that I despise, but personally I don't see the point of taking the time to post in a forum about the game just to tell people that I hate it. I just don't care. Because I don't care about garbage.
I think that's the difference. People may call even my most beloved games shit or garbage, and I will still love them (the games). So why waste the time to argue with stupid people who clearly just want to troll?
