Calling a game a disappointment is a fair enough opinion though. My boyfriend tried two or three times to get into DAI but it just doesn't work for him, even if the story might be interesting there's too much stuff that puts him off, which makes DAI a disappointment for him. And I don't see why that opinion is supposed to be wrong? Also there are definitely games out there that are garbage and that I despise, but personally I don't see the point of taking the time to post in a forum about the game just to tell people that I hate it. I just don't care. Because I don't care about garbage. I think that's the difference. People may call even my most beloved games shit or garbage, and I will still love them (the games). So why waste the time to argue with stupid people who clearly just want to troll? Yeah, that is all well and good but this particular person is not voicing his personal opinion. He is using "alternative facts" to prove that DAI is a general disappointment. A world of difference.

@domi playing a rogue and having Varric in the group is very doable. I find rogues very easy to play in DA2 and I mostly have either Varric or Isabella in the group, even when playing a rogue. I never noticed, that the imperial agent and female Hawke share the same voice actress, I love her, she is great (plus, I love the accent), but no one tops female smuggler ( in voice and in class - sawbones forever ... ahem... off topic) phorayYeah, I saw those threads too and did respond in one of them, but it is like talking to a wall. I like exchanging arguments, but they don't even recognise the arguments of others.

But in the game, not so much. Male voice though is much better in my books. I just need to decide if I am to keep my male Mage or remake him as a rogue :) My F!Smuggler was a Gunslinger, but I played both Sawbones and Medicine Operative, mostly Medicine Operative. They lost their healing crown though by the time I was leaving.

on the first page of General discussion, there are two threads. One is, wasn't Dragon Age Inquisition a disappointment?. The second is " this game is garbage. Prove me wrong." This is on top of the constant comparisons Dragon Age Inquisition to The Witcher 3. Which is a comparison that shows up and every thread where we discussed how Dragon Age 4 could learn and improve I'm tired of reading about TW. Every time it's trotted out against the DA horse, it's the same batch of TW feed which gets more trampled, more stale and rotten. * I had a stress free time in the previous PT because I had two tanks on perma duty : Cass and BW. This PT, I switch out BW for IB and he's performing worst than my greatsword warrior. He's always the one to get injured first and getting mauled the most.

If you ignore his Reaver spec and load him up with Battlemaster and Vanguard abilities, he does fine. I've never made him S/S though - 2H seems to be perfect for him. He just needs to learn to not be so reckless. The AI sucks at Reavering about as much as it does at Artificering.

You have that right! IB gets himself killed quickly. Varric survives a long time, but does little damage unless actively operated by player. Hopefully better companion AI in the next game!

after a long long long time i've returned to DA:I , Mage build. i just got to Skyhold Scaffold. I'm skipping some side quests and probably won't bother with most dragons and will probably ignore The Descent and Jaws of Hakkon , dunno yet. Will certainly do Trespasser . And finish in time for Andromeda .

I miss Cullen's cheesy smile and a romance mechanic that works and... Fully formed human being characters that make me care about them.
I'm determined to make it through TW3 though.
I held off on my Brosca because there was no way I could do a total run of her before driving off to California. She's on my PS3. So, I'll have to play her from scratch again on PC. Won't hurt anything, it's been a while since I wore her skin, so it'll refresh me to start over. And this time, I'll say goodbye to Leske and Rika; last time I accidentally hightailed it out and skipped it. May take a peak at mods, but I actually like her being a plain chubby dwarf so...

You have that right! IB gets himself killed quickly. Varric survives a long time, but does little damage unless actively operated by player. Hopefully better companion AI in the next game! Ok, I'll ignore the reaver specs. Honestly, he bulls through the potions like a fish. I'm very annoyed with him. Sometimes I can't figure out how the quests trigger. Take Federic (western approach) for example. I didn't talk to him but swept through his area, rather near to him earlier. Apparently, it's enough for me to pick up the bait ingredients quest and signs of dragon feeding. Sometimes when I talk to him, I get the White Claw quest; removing their bait for the dragon. This time, I don't get it even after talking to him. It's so inconsistent. * The Fade Haven The transition was never shown but I always imagined that Solas led the Inq to any of the two doors at the rotunda and once they went through, they were in Haven. It always bugs me the Inq didn't catch on at once; but we were just at Skyhold?! Did he sort of cloud her mind? I'm rather suspicious maybe he did because I chose the romance option but did not choose to kiss him. His reply : Even here, you throw me off. It implied he could not predict her reaction / action. If he did cloud her mind, perhaps even attempt to influence her to closer relations, she threw it off. This is at best a guess / interpretation of his words. If it's the latter, then I must say he's not really that nice a guy. Further thoughts on the assumption he clouded her mind : - he is attracted to her and imposed /shaped that desire on her. It would serve dual purposes. A brief dalliance so he could get close to her, he could study / influence her. If it was so, his behaviour later suggested it backfired on him. * The fight with the WA high dragon almost went out of the arena. I've never seen a fight raged from one end to the other end before. I thought the dragon would retreat all the way to the Chantry cave. I was very worried about it because I had a feeling the fight would reset. The dragon was popping lots of fire and IB was swigging potions, Cass was down to half HP and Solas had to play the hero by standing too close. Me, I was at the farthest range I could go and ducked behind anything once a fireball roared in my direction or when the dragon went into her whirlwind. I cheated for the Hinterlands dragon. I dragged everyone up to the ledge the dragon always go when she's down to the last bit of health except that she didn't land on it, for some reason. So she's down there and we're up there...I gave the Hold command to the party and then take potshots at the dragon. She didn't like it and shot fireball after fireball. Some got to me and I had to use a potion. Her babies also failed to come up to us. In the end, all the potshooting won.

Yes it does, for me. None of them went down to fight the dragon all the while I was shooting it to death. Even in other situations; not wanting them to crowd / climb a ladder, not following me up / down a ledge when I get a shard, the elven puzzle at Exalted Plains, they held still. If I switch to one of them, the Inq will auto follow since she's not given the hold command, so I give the command again. Every toon will hold.

Either it doesn't work for me or it only applies during battle.

I'm surprised; I liked the female voice and stuck with the "Iconic female Hawke" minus the blood slash. As to problems creating a decent looking character with the CC (I always have that issue myself), for Inquisition, there are plenty of people who have posted sliders of attractive characters they've created on Nexus Mods. I was going to recommend the same for DA2, but doing a search myself, all I found was this: www.nexusmods.com/dragonage2/mods/2384/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fdragonage2%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D2384%26preview%3D&pUp=1You can check out nexus mods just the same to see if you can find something I missed. I'm surprised you despise Varric so much. (At least he's not Oghren -- unless of course you liked Oghren. ) In any case, once you've acquired sufficient companions, Varric is only absolutely necessary for one set of missions at the end of Act I. (Although there's no avoiding his cut scenes with Cassandra.) If you like the combat in DA2, then you'll ultimately like DA Inquisition. Inquisition takes DA2's combat system and refines it some more. The Frostbite engine also has greatly improved graphics. I just find Jo Wyatt voice unpleasant. I have played female imperial agent she'd voiced in SWTOR, and did not like it. I wish they did different voice for each class like in SWTOR. The F!smuggler was great, I'd play that as a rogue. Anyway, I am going to try a male, to see if a va is more my thing. I am used to not having cc I want, because I'd like a character that looks like Melinda Mei or similar dangerously awesome Oriental face. I looked at some 'faces of gaming' DA2 page with different cc but I did not see anything remotely like that. I am also a bit afraid to search extensively, because things that come up on the search can be, erm, racy.
No, no, I really WANT to have Varric. That's why I am reluctant to play a rogue myself, because of the same role, and rogues won't stack as well as mages. I have no plans to purchase Inquisition. Andromeda is almost here, and chances are it is an open world, and huge, so it would take me a long time to get through it, plus new MP. That's likely 2 years right there. I still largerly prefer Mass Effect to DA. domi I went to the "Faces of Gaming" website and saw pics of characters they had created. Is that all they do? Post pics? They mention mods used, but do they post sliders? Also, why would anyone post anything racy?

In Trespasser, I would ideally put the companions in a room out of harm's way while Inky aims the burners in Ataashi's pen. But every time I do that, the idiots come out and get themselves killed. I wonder if, in those lame AI settings you can play with, does having the companions set to follow controlled character override HOLD?

I take it does in miniature what the larger websites for MMO do, allowing people upload to share their presets (there are literally hundreds and thousands of images for one game I tried). In MMOs like BnS and Revelation, you can actually easily save and import the presets right in the game, no backroom folder snooping. The collection they have is pretty limited, and no better than what I can do on my own. Heh, actually, I think I did. It's other websites that come up on the searches that may bring up a variety of questionable and embarassing materials if you search line concerns oriental females.

I do like the surrealness of that scene and all the things it leaves unexplained. You mention wondering which door of the rotunda did they use? What about how you end up in your bed when Solas snaps you out of it? Generally, even my non-elf Inquisitors are on good terms with Solas and are taken to "Dream Haven" albeit minus the romantic overtones. When it comes to dreams, no matter how ridiculous the situation in the dream, the dreamer generally takes it for granted that that's simply how things are.

It never shows how we leave skyhold to go anywhere. I'm at my War Table, and then bam, walking into the Gates of the Winter Palace.
I totally accepted that we were back at Haven. And since I'd never seen it destroyed, my brain didn't make the connection that it should be buried in 20 feet of snow. So, yah, Solas totally got me.
But one can't complain about the scene of going to Haven and not complain about all the other dramatic arrivals with no visible traveling.

Well, as I said, I've gotten a hang of the sliders, so I really like my faces now. I also decided to play with a Rogue this time, because I always play mage. Even though in the intro, the Ogre just fell over in a split second when I played a mage. Not sure if that's due to Carver being a more awesome warrior than my Warrior (who took the longest to put the Ogre down). I just liked how fast a rogue moved, even though some of his stuff was farmed out to AI, like gap closers and backstab positioning. But I can learn to live with it. I am thinking also, if I play melee rogue, I can carry Anders and Merrill in the party or Varric as a ranged rogue. So, it should be all good. Meaning, I will have another session with the Character Creator. But now I know how to make a face only Domi can love. :)

This website is fine. 1. It's other websites that come up on the searches that may bring up a variety of questionable and embarassing materials if you search line concerns oriental females. Sadly, FOG doesn't seem to have sliders posted, so I'm not sure what the point is. Oh well....I suppose there are better sites out there. My brethren never fail to amaze me! I do like this side for sliders of Inquisition. When I was new to DAI, I used some of the characters sliders there to get a feeling for the CC www.reddit.com/r/inquisitionsliders/?count=75&after=t3_3jd8c3

Sadly, FOG doesn't seem to have sliders posted, so I'm not sure what the point is. Oh well....I suppose there are better sites out there. My brethren never fail to amaze me! heh. You'll have to post a pic of Domi Hawke, the rogue!

The only time I've ever told them to Hold is the puzzles at the Temple of Mythall. NEver worked there on four PTs no matter how many times I clicked. Either it doesn't work for me or it only applies during battle. I've had problems with the HOLD command to. That's one you can experiment with. If you set behaviour to defensive, they won't attack the target you're hitting on unless you specify it. They'll probably stay still if they're not on follow tethers. The party is set to follow, for me. I rarely change their behaviour. Unless the tether range stretch for too long a distance, they stay where they are. If I go too far, the group will auto appear behind me, not walking / climbing / following. They still keep to the hold command. Switching to one of them will break the hold. I also use the "auto pull". Take Forbidden Oasis. Some of the shards are located on ledges. If I don't particularly want to drop down, pick up shard and go trudging the long way up agan, I tell the party to hold. I'll drop down to pick up the shard, switch to one of the party, release the party from hold and move away. The Inq will appear in the party once the tether line is played out.

Actually, no. I said I imagined he led them through one of the doors, not wondered which one it is ; it made no difference since they were already in dreamland. That part of going to Solas and talking to him is already part of dreamland. It's not the beginning. I surmised the Inq was already in bed and dreamt herself going about Skyhold. I figure that she entered Solas's dreamwalk. Why was he walking a Fade Skyhold? Possibly to see what the fade dreams say of the place. I doubt he could see all the historical events in just one dream. Since Fade Haven is his dreamwalk, he can control it ; that sudden scene of Inq closing rift. Because of that line ; Even here, you throw me off. when I chose to drop him down to friend instead of kissing him to affirm an interest to a more intimate relationship, leads me to question whether he was exerting influence on the Inq without her realising it. Previously, I never bothered to wonder if there was more because a human female Inq wouldn't have the romance option. Of course that statement could be as plain as it gets; he's aware she's interested and wants to give in to her desire but she doesn't. He's surprised by her control / reaction / action. Or it could be an implication he's trying something on her and she has the control / will to refuse it. P.S. A thought occur to me that Solas could just be reading the "recordings" of a day in Skyhold. The Fade / spirits will remember momentous events, a reflection of the real world, that's the gist I gather from his dialogues. But they also remember mundane things as well, something that touch the spirits. He could keep tabs on everything that is happening at Skyhold. He makes an even better spymaster than Leliana where Skyhold is concerned.
