What should elves look like, to you? My concept of elves is based on Tolkien. The earliest example of elves I was intro to is from an old game, Heretic. The char also looked like a human with pointy ears, no different from Tolkien or from DAI. So I don't have any other visualization of elves. At the most, I'd imagine them having lighter colour shades of hair and eyes that humans do not have which is why I gave the Inq really light eyes; I'd thought the eyes would glow in the dark. Rather disconcerting should a human come upon an elf in a gloomy forest. I'd also give them a slightly stronger physical resilience and speed than the humans; belying the impression that they're frail. Same here. I grew up with Tolkien and D&D and tehre the elves basically look like humans with pointy ears. For me, the DA2 elf concept was not done well. I liked them basically in DAo and in DAI (apart from the really thin arms), but in DA2, they look too much like manga characters (which is great, if you are a manga fan, granted ) Manga chars never crossed my mind when I look at DA II elves. I read manga btw, a few. I thought their brow and nose structure interesting, a departure from the human form / profile. I think they tried to keep this in the DAI elven CC. Tolkien elves are simply taller and much stronger than humans, particularly the ones that stayed in the West. The pointed ears and eyes along with the smaller statue developed in DnD by trying to avoid direct copy-cat of Tolkien's. As the Editions progressed, the Elven faces became more and more pointed, with realigning jaws, cheekbones and eyes, distorting their faces. The ears became exaggerated, rather than just pinched at an end, to create more distinction from the half-elves who went from rare and sterile, to common-place and perfectly fertile. In DA2, elves got resculpted faces that accommodate their eyes easier. I see the same "odo" (from star treck) like nose and forehead sculpting in other alien races. I am not a huge fan of the exaggerated ears, because they never really look right, and mess with hair. Overall, they seem to be different enough, and attractive, so, good stuff in my books, though I would prefer them to let go of the slight builds harking back to a DnD. I'm no fan of the odd looking ears on some elves; too narrow and too squashed. Agreed. They should "fatten" up the elves.

Too tired to play right now, but I took a couple of screenshots of Blaze in Gamlin's House:

*heavy sigh* Went to Exalted Plains, arrived at elven graveyard. Sera; bunch of holes for elfy glory, heh heh.
... I think I'll go play Dishonored II where Emily's dishonor is brought about by her youth, at the weight of duty that rested on her when she was too young, the failure to realise she could not leave the reins of the empire in the hands of her retainers, her failure to understand how her people were faring. Her journeys opened her world view and she learned.
Sera's dishonor is refusing to countenance what she is, who she is, the world she lived in.

Installed the flycam. Now my screenshot folder is full of fruit. And other food stuff. Like this pie. Delicious pie. Also think I broke the game a few times. But it seemed fine once I quit. No real story progress. Karaas chatted to some mages and Sabrae asked Sera if she'd like to dance some time in the future, before dolling up and heading to the Winter Palace.

She does some growing there.

I've been listening to this Dragon Age Inquisition Rap all day. I love the tiny reference to Skyrim, a game I only played long enough to get the reference. ^^ Pity there are no lyrics, there are some lines that I don't understand. (Got the Skyrim reference tho! ^^)

Hello all, first time posting in these forums.
I have finally started a proper playthrough of DAI. I have it on Xbox One through the EA Vault. Playing through as a Dalish male mage and have made it passed Val Royeaux and at present my character is back at the war room. He's just starting to find some gear too and build up a little on the skill trees to make his development all the more engrossing.
Haven't played today and won't be able to and I'm having withdrawals. After a number of short lived fits and starts trying to get into this game in the past, for some reason (maybe because MEA isn't far away), I have decided to give this a proper go and to my surprise I'm really enjoying it.
Previously I got warn out in the first area doing countless tasks and I think I got worried the game was going to take too long to move me to a new area. I didn't realise going back to the war room opened up new locations. My corrected oversight has given this game new life.
I've also just found two new recruits for my crew, I can't remember their names, I think they are Sera the elf Rogue and the beautiful dark skinned mage who invites you to her party after visiting Val Royeaux. Already like both and their addition has created a bit of a struggle to know who to kick out of my team to bring them in. I quite like Solas but he'll be relieved along with the little hairy dwarf guy with his crossbow Bianca.
As you can tell I'm not the best with the specifics of names yet but I'm so pleased that DAI has not been lost to me. It's really encouraging reading the forums and learning how big the game is. My main task is to complete the core storyline and flesh out my characters enough before Mass Effect Andromeda comes out.
I'll probably make a few more contributions on here to mark my progress. Cheers all and peace.

And secondly, this is a thing that happens to sooo many people, I am no exclusion. I never got out of the Hinterlands in my first PT and it felt more like a chore and was no fun anymore. But when I discovered that I could go someplace else, everything changed. A while back I read up on things that are easy to miss in the game (since I am a completionist and don't want to miss anything) and the first thing the article said was "Get out of the Hinterlands!". ^^ Looking forward to reading more of your adventures in DAI. I like hearing from people who play for the first time, since it reminds me of that awesome feeling when everything is new and exciting and interesting. ^^

I'm in Australia so I'm looking forward to getting back into the game tomorrow night. How many times have you played through DAI?

I've read some mangas a long time ago, and tehre were elves, that looked a bit like those in DA2, tehy had longer ears though. But I'm no manga expert, so I don't know, if those elves were typical for manga elves, the DA2 elves just reminded me of them (and sadly I don't rememebr the name of the mangas. It was a series and it was not bad for someone who normally doesn't read mangas) I have Dishonoured 2 lying and waiting to be played too. Is it good? I saw some videos on youtube and instantly fell in love with this world. It looks a bit steampunkish with all the gadgets and so. And I like Emily. I think, I have to pump my computer a bit up to play it though. To not going completely off topic here: I agree about Sera. She is a bit too much, I mean no one (not even my Dalish inqui Riya) is talking to her about elven lore or something like that. No one makes any remarks (apart from Solas and I think, tact isn't his strongpoint) about Sera being an elf. Would it be too much to ask, that she does not accompany every elven ruin or statue or so with some rude remarks? I like Sera most of the time, but I love to kill her sometimes for her elven comments.

In mage side I see Irving as a good, but opportunist person, and I saw Wynne as a broken person, I like her, but this isn't normal, that anyone can support his/her own prison (this is my opinion about Vivienne too)... My Surana liked the poor Jovan... The blood magic is a good tool against the prison guards, I no wonder, that most of the apprentices know that in the Circles, and I don't blame them. I saw Templars (and the Circle) impotent and useless. Uldred would winning, if Warden would not arrived. If it escapes... Poor Gregoir and Cullen... In Origins I never supported the Annulment, and don't needed Templars. In DA2 once I sided with Templars at the end, for Carver, but I felt, this is the dark side. So: its not really balanced, in my viewpoint ofc. In fact, I always support Templars. All Templars, who in danger because the Chantry feed them with lyrium. So: if I support the mages, support the crashing of Circle-system, then I support the Templars too (just they do not yet know, but this is no matter.). If I support the system (not Templars), I only support the Chantry's corruption, and the fear. In Inquisition? The Templars portrayal was extreme? Fiona almost enslaving the mages and herself... I found the portrayal of the templars in Inquisition not that extreme too. They could have been a bit more present, but apart from Lucius, who technically is a seeker, I found them ok. I think, one can't really judge the templars, taking red lyrium, because if even being around this stuff makes you extreemly paranoid and aggressive, ingesting it drives you outright crazy. So basically they were told lies and then it was too late. I think, most of them didn't even know, what was the deal with red lyrium until it was too late. I can understand Vivienne and to some point Wynne. Viv was always a free soul in the circle, she only heard from the hardships in some other circles and thought probably, that this were unfortunate exeptions from the rule. And Wynne had a lot of freedom later too. I don't know, how she dealt with the loss of her child (is that adressed in Asunder?), but later she was nearly never in the circle and it seemed to suit her, so to keep that status quo, supporting that particular circle, helping her in her wish of exploration, can be understandable. And I agree about one thing with both: it is necessary, that young mages learn how to use their talents responsible, wether it is some form of circle (not circle as a mage prison, but as a mage gathering) or a school. About Jowan: I liked him as a character, but he is also not the brightest guy around, so I was really worried when he started using blood magic. It's like giving a really aggressive guy a machine gun and tell him to get nuts. Jowan doesn't seem to have the grips on 'normal' magic, using the turbo speed did make me worry a bit. I never killed him though. maybe he can learn from his mistakes

Vivienne and Wynne spent so much times in the Circle (from their childhood). Vivienne isn't as young, as she seems... She fear from herself, so: broken. And selfish, snob and social climber. This was her escape strategy. Wynne was rebel in her youth, she mentioned that, in Origin, if I remember correctly. So: she broken too. Yes, both seems strong. This does not exclude the broken soul. They was able to "freed" themselves, but still have to accept, that "this must be". Just a broken mind capable to it. Haha, yes, Jowan probably "not the sharpest knife in the drawer", but I understand him, he just wanted to be free (much healthy thought than Vivienne's and Wynne's, as I see...), and if you let him to redeem himself, he prove, that he capable to finish the Harrowing, he strong enough.

Welcome to the board. Glad to see, you enjoy DAI. Is this your first Dragon Age game? If so, you should consider playing the first two too, because they are fun and you learn more about the world. The dwarf with the crossbow (Varric) is a companion in DA2 too. I would recommend to change companions occasionally - they are all good, so you don't have to fear to weaken your party, plus they have very interesting banter with each otehr and it really pays off, to have different companions with you from time to time. Glad you like Vivienne (the dark skinned mage). Many players don't like her that much, but I love her Have fun with DAI and don't hestitate to ask, if you need help.

How many times have you played through DAI? I did three complete PTs and I have a few where I'm about halfway through or maybe a bit more. It takes me a while since I always do every quest and war table mission, astrariums, shards ... well, everything. ^^ Uh! That is very hard, and you are very determined!

On the Morrow
Revel ran around Kirkwall, checking out the merchandize. He was surprised to see that certain items in the stores now bore the names of his associates. Of course it was Kirkwall, where everyone knows everything about everyone else, but still… he decided it was the safest to purchase the suspicious goods. The only thing that prevented a bout of paranoia was that some tags read “set aside for a very nice customer, Isabela”, and he had never met anyone by that name.
The shopping spree quickly emptied his purse, so Revel went to see about a way to make more coin. Arishok of the Quinari (ah, so much like Gamlen, say they would move out “on the morrow” every day for three years…) intimated that he had concocted a scheme. They’ve let a greedy dwarf to steal fake recipe for the secret explosives. Any tot in Ferdelaine would be proud of such devious plot… still, it’s a way to make coins.
Following the trails that smelled of money to be made, Revel paid his respects to Arianni, the paragon of the saintly motherhood, elven style. Her troubled mage-son (is there any other kind of a mage?) was still plagued by demons, nightmares, exorcism… Anders’ voice jumped almost a full octave… Revel felt like putting this particular venture off for a time, not that he did not feel for the frantic mother.
Mothers… his own seemed well enough, dressed in silks, her hair washed and coiffed. She’d gashed over his good looks and fortune (not unpleasant at all). The only fly in the ointment was the way she'd ended her monologue. “Revel,” she’d said, “perhaps I should start looking for a wife for you.” A woman who eloped herself, now eager to play matchmaker and arrange these matters for her son? How droll.
Revel only shrugged, stared blankly into space and thought that mayhaps traipsing through the Fade for a while won’t be that bad. Particularly if Anders is to accompany him.
Mother, dear, we shall talk on the morrow.

It's a bit compulsive tbh, I just cannot leave something unfinished. ^^ In Witcher 3 I failed one of the very first quests cause I didn't know what to do. I realized that when I was about half way through the game and considered starting over, but after having spent so much time doing everything (again, I cannot leave things unfinished) and the thought of having to do it again I continued playing. However, it bugged me until the very end (including the addons) that I had this one failed quest in my log. Just thinking about that now annoys me and I haven't touched the game for a few months now.

My husband's dwarf, Duran Duran Aeducan went with Oghren, Shale, and Morrigan to the Deep Roads. He ultimately sided with Caridan and destroyed the anvil. Awwwww. Duran is a traditional dwarf who takes Bhelen's treachery seriously, so Harrowmount is going to get the crown. Husbands so much closer to finishing! Yes! He still has Awakening and Witch Hunt to do (he romanced Morrigan). Then I can't finally see who he'll end up with in DA2. It's between Fenris and Merrill for him. He refuses Anders and Isabella outright.
