We've finally picked a new monitor, getting a 35" extra-wide, curved, and the game looks wonderful on it! Interestingly enough, it supports the resolution even if it predates the ME3, that does not. Uhg, you just reminded me of my own monitor problems. I had a very very nice $600 1440p monitor that was amazing... until it broke. Now I am using this crappy 1080p Samsung TV that is shit compared to my monitor. :( I've upgraded from an old 22", so it's mind blowing awesome...

I know it's a typo but I can't help I'm of a mind to change my monitor although it's still good but it's like six years old. Trying to resist as it'll be a waste of $$. Also want to change my keyboard to a gaming keyboard. ... resist....resist.

I danced, she danced, we danced. Finished the Winter Palace with Sabrae. Had the flycam on, so now my folder is full of Orlesians. And this smug elf face. Also loaded up some old saves, looked at some Qunari's and created one more. Doubt I'll finish any of them, but they were nice to look at. Did some more flycam exploring. Flew over mountains, tunneled underground and sneaked under Iron Bulls bed to steal his pie. Luckily he was too drunk downstairs to notice, but he wont be happy when he reached down for his midnight snack. Also admired his freaky fingers after the pin-up scene. So grand times for all.

Since the monitor has a 7 day return policy, and I did my very best to test it out, so I ran through the Act 2 yesterday and today, clocking at 22 hours into the game. Lots of impressions. Loved the subplot with Luanda Hawke, and Aveline's courtship subquest the most. First of all, I have managed to get on Fenris good side, yay me! To my surprise, he showed up in Revel's mansion despite Anders asking for an invitation. Then he reconsidered, so Revel have done exactly the same thing as my Warden in the first Dragon Age, seamlessly moving on to Anders. To be honest, it felt like in Fenris dialogues we've missed a couple of talks, going straight from a dramatic confession/angst act to slamming Revel against the wall in a passionate embrace to breaking up in a space of two dialogues. Anders is really happy to be in a relationship with Revel, even though his dialogues about never daring to have attachments because it would give Templars an edge, make no sense, give Karl, and him trying to feed the cats even in Darktown. I like how it turned out, looks good for my protagonist. I also tried to play a little with Merrill and Aveline instead of Varrick and Fenris, but The showdown with Arishok, Meredith and Orsini was great. I was a bit puzzled by fighting a Qunary called Sten about five times, but I assume it was not Sten from the first game, it's likely just a title. I am sad to see the subplot wrap up, talking to Quinari was uber-fun. That's one awesome monitor! How much did it cost you? And what benefit does having the screen curved give you? Possible 3D? Regarding Sten, I initially thought the same thing when I first played DA2. But it is just a title. According to Iron Bull, the Qunari companion in Inquisition, Qunari don't use proper names; just job titles and numbers. So it's not our old friend from Origins!

Are you using a sigil that negates guard?

Solas is using sigil of the bear. I know it's not the sigil because HoV worked for him in other zones. It comes and goes so I guess the game is temperamental where he is concerned. It's annoying. I've also been experiencing odd tosses whenever the party go to Sulevin Keep. I tend to take the back route to avoid hitting the second giant out front. Whenever the party crossed over the threshold into the inner courtyards, the game drops down to desktop. Reloaded the game which always starts normally, kill the second giant and his keepers, crossed back to that same courtyard, the game tossed me out to desktop again. P.S. A first! A first! *dances* Climbed to the tall outcrop to the second oraculum, near the first camp at Forbidden Oasis. The first thing I saw was a venatori. s***! The radar didn't show him and his pals. He went down the ladder before the rest could climb up. His two pals scrambled to attack me. I swiped the first with the shield, he tumbled off the edge and fell to the bottom of the ladder where he picked himself up and attacked the party. I chain grappled the second and kicked him off and he fell all the way down to ground level. wheeeooooooo ... splat!

I've upgraded from an old 22", so it's mind blowing awesome... How do you like it being curved? Absolutely love it. In DA2, when you are out of doors, it opens up a larger shot, and brings the stuff in the peripheral vision more into view, so it feels like there is more world around Revel. When there is a cutscene, or they are indoors, it does put black bars on the sides. It cost slightly under 1,400 CND bucks, but I am lucky because among my job benefits there is a very weird benefit that covers "personal growth/interests" that includes personal computers. So, yeah, my job pays for my rig over the years of upgrades.

The Anders romance is good too, but Fenris would have returned to you in act 3. If you have both of them in the party, you might encounter some funny jealous talk Sten is the title of a high ranking officer in the Qunari army, so there are some Stens around. 'Our' Sten is safe and sound elsewhere

Riya traveled to the Western Approach to investigate the strange behavior of the Wardens there. Now that I'm playing that part the second time, I'm amazed, that I wasn't baffled by Blackwalls lack of knowledge concerning any warden business. Some badass screenie My Hawke, Lyra. And she is with Fenris again. After I changed the keep again (some decisions just had changed themselves for some reason, I must have accidently clicked a decision, that made others unreachable.) Stroud explaining things (I so like this character) The gang looking baffled (must be the stupidity of that Venatori guy, who goes on about his plans instead of being clever and killing everyone quickly: 'blahblah... gratitude.... blahblah bring Cory your head... blahblah... damn my trap failed ) Badass archdemon The gang again, Solas is missing, probably off chatting with some wraith about how cool the fade is

Now that I'm playing that part the second time, I'm amazed, that I wasn't baffled by Blackwalls lack of knowledge concerning any warden business. In my last two previous PTs, I went out of my way to torture Blackwall. I took him to everything in Crestwood and the Western Approach. The other GWs don't seem to notice him; not even Stroud in that first meeting in Crestwood. You'd think Blackwall was the Invisible Man! And then when you try to bring Blackwall into the conversation, he lamely tries to cover his ignorance with BS. If you haven't gone to the Winter Palace yet, take Blackwall with you! Someone comes very close to recognizing him as Thom Ranier. Something else which might have pierced the facade was some banter between Iron Bull and Blackwall. Normally, I don't take two companions from the same class. I typically take one of each from all three classes. Yesterday, my team was in the Western Approach and while at camp, I very briefly brought in both Iron Bull and Blackwall to switch out armor since I wanted IB to be ready for Adamant. Just before I sent Blackwall back to Skyhold, IB starts talking to Blackwall and asking him pointed questions about the GWs and how and what are their special abilities. Unfortunately, I did not hear Blackwall's response because I had already sent him back to Skyhold before Iron said anything.

Ok, admittedly, that could have been a bit of a problem in the case of the GW, but I think, he could have tried to find out a bit more at least

So I had been drinking with friends so I wasn't up to making any serious choices, like choosing to do those rituals or just jump down that hole after Calpernia.
So I played What Pride Had Wrought until that point. I collected every node of Stormheart and silverite I could find which was pointless because I wasn't planning on making any more armor but inebriated me felt it was important.
Weirdly enough when the quest intro played the entire sequence had no music. Just scouts jumping out of trees grunting and Leliana giving me her intense glare with crows cawing around her.
I'll make the choice to give in to Coles wishes to save the soldiers dying outside or Abelas walking out of this encounter later when I have a clearer head.
....I'll probably pick Abelas.

@domi fylimarYes, Fenris would return in Act 3 if you had stayed single at end of Act 2. What's great about DA2 is how the scenes can change based on factors. Rival vs friend as well as timing. If you had done his personal quest in a different order, he wouldn't have slammed but left. Then come back later saying he hasn't been able to stop thinking of you. *Swoon* I didn't find the jealousy banter between Fenris and Anders funny. It made me fall in love with Fenris and think Anders was a jerk. Then the next PT where I stayed with Fenris and Anders pulled me aside to tell me I'd made a mistake? Wanted to punch him in the face.

Anders jealousy is not so extreme. Yes, he is a jerk sometimes, but who isn't. Sometimes Fenris too, just he's more moderate, I no wonder, but not always. Fenris can be cruel. I think she speak about, when after Fenris left, Hawke slept with Anders. Anders don't left, and Fenris don't want to sleep Hawke after Anders (or perhaps this is only a bug, or just I failed?).

The Hawke I have planned for Isabella is going to sleep with everyone. Fenris first, then Merrill, then Anders, and then Isabela. Hawke will realize the others would just never have worked out because he's a polyamorous hedonist and Isabella is his match on that front. It's too bad to me that my next planned Hawke is for Merrill. I still haven't come up with a Hawke Character for her other than female and mostly aggressive.

Iona may need to borrow the steampunk dress! lol With Blackwall, I have this feeling that after the real Blackwall was killed, Thom assumed his identity and went around freelancing by himself without any contact with other Grey Wardens. Without any mentor, how was he to find out all those dark GW secrets? He has this vision of the GWs as altruistic heroes without any of the real details. He can get away with this because the general public doesn't know the GWs' secrets either. He's safe so long as he doesn't run into any real GWs.

After finishing up loose ends in Crestwood (i.e., the Dragon!), Iona went to the Western Approach yesterday where she was to meet up with Stroud and Hawke. She postponed the rendezvous, however, as she soon found the approach to be a hotbed of Venatori activity. In one location, she found ancient Tevinter ruins which indicated that Alexius wasn't the first Vint to experiment. And as with Alexius, it didn't work out well in the past either. Within these ruins, time stands still with ancient Tevinters forever battling demons no doubt unleashed by their experiments with magic. Could this be what turned the Western Approach to a desert?
They found the main Venatori forces at Griffon Wing Keep, an ancient Grey Warden facility. After a fierce battle, Iona claimed the keep.
Elsewhere, they came across the ancient Tevinter prison of Coracavus. Apparently, Venatori digs here had opened up a hole to the Deep Roads and naturally: Darkspawn. Iona and her crew cleared the area and sealed up the Darkspawn tunnels. Outside Coracavus, they finally caught up with Servis, the leader of Venatori operations in the Approach. They managed to take him alive and had him transported to Skyhold for judgement.
They also caught up with Leo of Lucien Bay, an apostate long hunted by Cassandra. (Gamer note: On nightmare, with both "Even Ground" and "Walk Softly" trials set, this was the biggest boss fight of the Western Approach! Cassandra definitely gave her "Templar" powers a heavy workout here! I also had to craft staves with "barrier penetration" because of how quickly Leo kept throwing up barrier.)
With the Venatori defeated, Iona went to meet with Hawke and Stroud to find out what was going on with the Wardens. There, they caught the Venatori in the midst of blood mage ritual where a GW rogue or warrior was sacrificed so that a GW mage could bind a demon. All this was done under the careful guidance of a Venatori mage, Livius Eremond. He had the Wardens convinced that they could bind demons and send them into the Deep Roads to hunt down darkspawn and ultimately the sleeping Old Gods and thus, prevent future Blights and end the Calling forever. What the Wardens didn't know was that the Calling they were sensing was from Corypheus and the ritual they performed put the GW mages under his complete control. After driving off Eremond, Iona returns to Skyhold and has her advisors make plans for battle against the GW fortress of Adamant.
Gamer Notes: Normally, I would go into Adamant with Varric, given his connection to Hawke, and Blackwall, given his supposed status as a Warden, or Cassandra, so she could see Justinia, and, of course, Solas, the local Fade expert. This time, I opted to take a totally different team: Dorian, IB, and Cole. I figured a Vint like Dorian, who I used for most of the Approach as well, might have some interesting things to say about the Tevinter ruins or about the old Darkspawn Magister himself. I also believed it would get interesting reactions out of IB and Cole. As always, when I plan for interesting banter, I come away disappointed.
After escaping the Fade sans Stroud (the red shirt of the DA universe), Iona recruited the Wardens.
Also, I completed the "Archdemon" mosaic for the first time. In all pics I have seen of the completed mosaic, it's hard to make out what's being depicted. The Gatsy codices read like stream of consciousn blather. Maybe it would have been humorous if he read his reports out-loud.
Next stop: Emerald Graves.

Don't worry, you didn't miss anything in Fenris scene - he is a bit ...strange that way. The Anders romance is good too, but Fenris would have returned to you in act 3. If you have both of them in the party, you might encounter some funny jealous talk Sten is the title of a high ranking officer in the Qunari army, so there are some Stens around. 'Our' Sten is safe and sound elsewhere Canon. DAO Sten is presently the Arishok. He appeared in DA Those Who Speak and met up with Alistair again. In DAI, if Varric and IB are in the same party, they may talk about DAO Sten, the Arishok with no horns. Most of my PT have the canon world state, as far as I know, with Alistair as the King, Anora the queen, the warden recruited DAO Sten and became friends, the GB existed. I think in the canon WS, the warden is dead but that is something I disagree with.

Do they ever come up with reasons why some Qunaris have horns and others don't? Also, what about DAO Sten's contention that "women don't fight"? In Trespasser, it seems the Qunari rogues were all women as was the Vidasala. A bit annoying when the lore isn't consistent.

One of the problems with the mosaics is that the lighting is so bad in Skyhold they are very difficult to see. But, you can see a dragon pretty easily in this one. There is speculation out there that what's depicted isn't an archdemon, though, and is instead perhaps an ancient elf/Evanuris in dragon form.
gervaise21 has a pretty good theory on that, which covers all 5 of the mosaics. I'm not sure if her analysis is posted anywhere on this forum or if it was only on BSN Prime.
Also, what about DAO Sten's contention that "women don't fight"? In Trespasser, it seems the Qunari rogues were all women as was the Vidasala. A bit annoying when the lore isn't consistent. Well, women aren't warriors. They have other roles, and sometimes those roles involve fighting. Welcome to qunari double-speak.

Went to the Frostback Basin to get the Aegis of the Rift ability. Only good thing in that area really. Now off to the Deep Roads.
