Iona annihilated Corypheus today. She was Level 21, so that may have been the difference. This, despite having the "Take it slow" trial on which supposedly slows leveling up. She had largely completed all the areas of the vanilla game minus a couple of dragons. Next stop is JOH. Thereafter, have to decide whether to bother with Descent or go directly to Trespasser. This time, did the Cullen romance. It was nice, but the Solasmance was better story and lore-wise. I may try the Blackwall romance on the next PT just to see how well-crafted that one was. Blackwall is a nice romance , a bit of drama, but overall good one.

I can only attribute the late realisation to the fact that there's a glitch with the sigils I did use. Giant / bear. There was no negative flaw because both read as imbuing positive buffs but I realised lately that something was not right when skills were slow to cool down. Could that positive be actually a negative? I tested it and it turned out that it is a glitch. Great Bear stats are:
+100% max mana/stamina -50% mana/stamina regeneration
So, your mana/stamina doubles but your regen rate slows down. However, there are abilities and/or other equipment that will increase your regen rate, so it really is mostly positive. I use them on pretty much everyone in my party, but mages (and Inq) get priority.
More info here:
dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Sigil_of_the_Great_Bear
Sounds like some of the stats are weirdly affected, but I definitely make use of the double mana pool.

I am really on pins and needles for Andromeda, and can't relax enough to replay the old games, so after a lot of mod browsing, I bought and started downloading the DA:I. Was assured by one of the reviewers the game can be done in 40 or so hours if you do not gather shards and other resources.
While it is still uploading, downloaded and installed the Mod Manager Suite (thanks, modders!) and downloaded the mods I am interested in:
Equal Opportunity Solas with Concept Art Solas Redux Shiny Happy Blackwall (shiny portion is supposed to be compatible with Tresspasser) & by the same author - the Dorian Dimples
So, probably as far as I am going to go today, but going from memory, i do need to run a game at least once for the files to generate before installing mods. At leats it was a golden rule in the old games, so I'll do it here just in case. Maybe even make my character, who knows.
And check that the game does not explode after i run the mods. :)

@domi Are you going to set up/import your custom world state from the DA Keep or just use default?

Mine read as positive on the cool down times for giant sigil. That's why I was puzzled at the sudden crawl in skills cool down, I couldn't keep everyone's barriers up or use the high dmg skill as quickly as I like. Both buffs read as positives so I realised that couldn't be right. And it isn't right so there's definitely a glitch. Due to this glitch, which I didn't discover sooner, it dictated the zone I must take quickly to get the enhanced / superb cool down amulet to compensate for the debuff. * Does anyone know if there's a DA fanfic thread somewhere? Sometimes I get the itch to write something DA. I'm not inclined to write a DA fanfic on FFN when I still have a on-going ME fic I'm procrastinating on.

I am soooo confused. It does not give me any character creation options? I go Qunary, Rogue, DW, and then no male/female/appearance? It just shows Character Summary as a Tal-Vashoth Mercenary and then cuts into a cutscene (unskippable?) with a male Qunari????
WHAT? Where is the character creator? What Dragon Keep? Why do I need to log in somewhere? Can I pick female there and do the customization?

Okay, I went to the Dragon Keep, and it just shows me some other characters, not my own? Says I do not have any custom ones? It does see my account. Seriously?

You can see your characters, warden and Hawke. Put them in the tapestry, and there you can to check your choices, and change them (must, if you want to see your choices in game!).

@domi You pick the gender when you pick the race. There is a card behind the race card and then there is also a little gender symbol picker in the left top. Then you pick the class, fighting style and difficulty. Then there should be cutscene of a qunari (or the race you pick) standing up and 5 options you can scroll down. At the bottom is a customize button, which you can click to get the character creator. It's way to easy to mis-click on select and start with one of the default faces. I think you can skip almost all the cutscenes with the esc key.

I can't see my Warden at all, just my Hawke. :( I loaded the Origins, and re-saved with CLoud storage enabled, and it still does not load my Warden. And I can't see any obvious places to input choices or start character customization on those dumb cards. What a joke...

First you need to pick your race, gender, background etc, and starting the scene. After the scene you can customize the character. If you can't see your warden, you can pick one from the keep, and customize the decisions, as you want. You also MUST to customize your Hawke's decisions, because mostly not right. (For example I mostly play as sarcastic Hawke, but the default in keep the diplomatic Hawke, so, if you want to see your Hawke, and his decisions, you must to check it and fix it in the tapestry – and don't forget to save the decisions in the Keep!)

It's better to check through everything; DAO to Awakening to DA II, because little things here and there get reset to default. I was also befuddled by Dragon Age Keep in the beginning but just patiently click through whatever is clickable and see how everything works. I think there're tutorials in YT too.

Okay, thank you for the tips.
I re-wrote the name of my Warden, did not really check anything anywhere on the Hawke for now, and managed to get into the customization. I will have to upload a mod that gives extra hair colors, before heading for Black Emporium later in the game, because no black hair/eyes. Seriously? That's the only hair color that is Okay in those games. Watched a really long scene with Cassandra, saved and quit. Called her Dusk Fell in favor of a character I really ended up not playing in SWTOR. Fingers crossed the mods held...
And, they have the same movement scheme as in SWTOR with 6 movement buttons with Q/E for strafe. Argh.

@domi is trying DAI!
I'm excited!
I watched a 2 hour tutorial on the Dragon Age Keep on YouTube but you don't actually have to watch the whole thing. I just thought the guys' comments were funny and I was waiting for the game to download so I had time to kill.

DA Keep can be a bit overwhelming if you never used it before. Note that no decisions from DAO/DA2 upload/import to the Keep, only your avatars and basic character info (name is pretty much it). You have to manually select all the choices for both games in order to get them into DAI. It might take about 30 minutes or so, but it's worth it for the little touches that make the world consistent across your PTs.

My husband has been working on Dao for months now. He upped it to Nightmare mode about halfway in. So he texted me today to let me know it took him over an hour to beat Gaxkang, the Unbound. And I thought e was going to finish the game tonight. Psh!

Leliana will remember your Warden, Varric your Hawke, etc.
Doh! Everyone beat me to it! Anyhow, I hope you have fun with it! Heaven knows some of us have been encouraging you to try it out. ( Boy, I wonder who?) It should be interesting to see how you rate it versus the first two games. Cheers! phoray Your hubby is a brave man! Gaxkang is pain to kill on NM! I had to stay on tactical through the whole fight. What makes it miserable is the hopelessly confined area; no where to run!

He's a two handed axe dwarf and he has Morrigan as an arcane Warrior carrying and axe and shield. With the barriers she puts up, she is near impervious to all damage and effects like stun, but doesn't actually do much damage herself. So, Morrigan is always the last one standing, pecking away at the bad guy's health.

There's a dearth of new games that I want to play so MEA is the consolation title for the next few months. I'm not pre-ordering but I'm likely to have an early hands-on for it. I'm not expecting it to be a terrible game. There're comments in the MEA section from game reviewers who had a sneak peek that it feels like DAI in space. Reactions are going to be mixed; feels like DAI in space, feels like ME. Whatever. ... I just watched AJ"s reaction to MEA trailer 2. Ryder reminds me of Cullen.

Does anyone know if there's a DA fanfic thread somewhere? Sometimes I get the itch to write something DA. I'm not inclined to write a DA fanfic on FFN when I still have a on-going ME fic I'm procrastinating on. I don`t know about any DA fanfic thread, and I`m interested. I`m planning right now a pre-DA2 story about Varric as part of a larger fanfic project about DA2. When Varric`s story is finished, I plan to post it here, where there are interested fans I`ve already met.

Sometimes I get the itch / inspired so I plopped several mini writings in this thread but I feel that those scribbles not about actual game content (imagined dialogue / action taking place elsewhere, etc) belong in another thread. I popped a question over at forum suggestions. Maybe a DA / ME fanfic section might get started.

First of all, yeah, I would love a FanFiction stuff, but it is now in the modding section of the forum, split by game....
Okay I have tried for a few minutes this morning, getting to the Base Camp, and to the point I leave for a Mountain Path.
The things I liked so far are how my character looks (despite the ridiculous shin and a strange slouch all characters get) and her voice is awesome, low and thanks goodness without a British accent. Mod took, Solas looks good. His voice is unremarkable. Varric, Leliana and Cassandra are all looking great.
Now... deep breath... gameplay. BioWare, is there some sort of commitment to breaking great gameplay when you actually accidentally managed it? Are you striving to come up with the worst, most uncomfortable system ever in the history of video Games? I hate, hate, absolutely hate the movement system and keybinding options.
The tactical camera idiocy, the inability to have double binds, cannot bind the middle wheel, no target assist, and...
HOW ON EARTH can I make her MOVE FASTER?
I enabled toggle auto run, I rebound the Sprint to C, but no matter how much I pound G or C, the character moves at the same snail pace.
They had directional evades on double tap in Jade Empire 15 years ago, 15 frigging years ago! The Shepard rolls in ME3... but whatever you call a char in Inquisition slowlwly inches itself towards the target...
My gap closer is pathetic, so the whole hauling your behind really slooowly to a ranged target while it pounds you with frigging ranged attacks from all directions is frigging the worst nightnares from pvp. What, another game where you gotta play ranged? The DW rogue is mobile... my sweet behind it is.... it WAS in DA2. Now it's a pain....
Frigging will have to switch to Casual, because it also does not rest/heal up between battles.
Let me guess... people whined DA2 was too easy to play, right? Stupid.

Stupid. You'll have to post pics of your PC and modified Solas. And don't worry, you'll soon be ditching the ugly green mercenary tunic. As to gameplay, I just roll with it. Three very different games tied together by lore and some recurring characters that might still be recognizable!
