I finished my DAO playthrough. I killed the archdemon. Loghain survives. Had Anora let the mages control the tower. I say it would be interesting if a mage Warden takes over as First Enchanter when Irving steps down. Just a thought.
Not sure if I will import into Awakening or straight to DA2.

One good way to make a lot of money, at least when the player gets to the first vendor, I believe the one at Ostagar, is to sell the weapon that the player gets after defeating the harvester on hard/nightmare during the golems of amgarrak. When the player starts a new playthrough of DAO, he/she will have the Reaper's Cudgel. Sell it for a lot of moneyDarn, that means I'll have to go back and do that lame DLC! Oh well...

How much are you attached to the Warden? I've liked Awakening better than DA:O tbh, so for me it was a chance to play an actually good story with my Warden. But if you want to switch to Hawke's faster, then DA2?

I made my first mage; elven. DAI chose not to cooperate after CC, meaning the char was stuck in the Fade. Usually, this means I do a repair, restart the game and redo the entire thing but after four failures for the warrior elven Inq, I decided that there had to be a solution. And there is.
I had this happen when I used the frame rate fix in the command line of Origin. That's the only thing I know of that causes it. Removing it solved the problem. Glad you found a workaround. I had to create my male elf 3 times before I figured out the issue.
@domi and themikefest Re: Al and Anora getting married while recruiting Loghain.
After meeting Goldanna, you need to tell Alistair that everyone is out for themselves, then go back to camp enough times for him to be ready to talk about what you said and agree that he's going to look out for himself more.
Then, you need to get both of them to agree to the idea before going to the Landsmeet. At the Landsmeet, after you decide to not kill Loghain and Al freaks out, take the dialogue which says, "I thought you agreed to marry Anora" or something like that. He will be mad at you but still agree to the marriage.
In my last game, I had to go back and get Al's approval high enough to get the Goldanna quest because otherwise he backed out of the deal and stormed off to become a drunk.

Yes, I did not want to be mean to Goldanna and him, so we jut gave her most of our gold :) I did talk both of them into marriage, but with Goldanna's quest resolved in a nice way, Alistair ended up killing Loghain, so I've sent Anora chill in the dungeons, because the spoiled woman went back on her word. Anyways, I have restarted with a male Qunari, Sin Fell. I've brushed up his looks a little in Emporium, and he was all ready to go. Initially, he had purple eyes, as a tribute to Zenith, but I found it irritated me. What works for Zenith... works for Zenith. I can't get my beloved liquid jet eyes in Dragon Age, but sort of dark had to do... same for hair. Figure 1. Sin Fell, almost dark-eyed After closing baby-Rift #1: Figure 2. Sin Fell and the Rift We went in a hurry through the Hintherlands. It is much faster the second time around, fast forwarding a lot of the same dialogues, plus I remember my way around Haven, and hardly ever get lost... fighting with two mages is trivial this early in the game. We've just cleared the Templars, the Apostates, and the quests that give Inquisition the horses. Basically Sin's ready to go to Orlais once we make a quick run through Solas' quest. I am thinking about actually taking Sera on board this time (since one can only play with Varric so many times, and it takes a while to get Cole), but skip Vivienne and Iron Bull. Rats, I forgot to talk to Cassandra altogether... I guess, my heart is really set on Dorian.

I had this happen when I used the frame rate fix in the command line of Origin. That's the only thing I know of that causes it. Removing it solved the problem. Glad you found a workaround. I had to create my male elf 3 times before I figured out the issue. I don't use the command line. There is only one possibility that I can think that caused the glitch. It's (drum roll) ... the time spent in CC. Since I got the human Inq sliders down to a T, I can do it in within five minutes. With the elven inq, it's more difficult because the options are not typical human features; the nose, forehead, so I spent more time fiddling. The more time I spent in CC, the chances of the game going haywire is higher. It's like; oh hey, you're taking so long to do this, I'm going to take a nap. Then, when the char is made, the game went; huuuh? what? What am I supposed to do next? I can't remember. Gimme some time to figure it out. Yeah....zzzzZZZZZZzzzzzz. Most games generally stall completely if the char is stuck after CC. There is mostly no chance to get it to kick start. Someone found it in DAI and I've to say, this is a unique backdoor in getting the game to work.

Trespasser stuff. Spent the better part of an hour or so in catching up with the old crew. The music of Trespasser is sad/depressing.

Today I learned from my husband, who is playing it for the first time, that there are 6 Gold Skill resets you can buy in Awakening. I've only played it...3 times... so, uh yeah. I guess I can lump Shop Inventory along with Codexes as things I hardly never read.

My reaction during Goldanna`s quest was basically set in my first DA:O complete playthrough. I was just learning the game`s basics and quests, what the skills do, the alternatives to handle quests. I haven`t figured out how to earn more money yet. I came to Denerim after solving the Redcliffe quest line and searching for brother Genitivi. Alistair just mentioned her sister, in camp. So when I went with him to visit her, my Dalish Mahariel was quite short of money but had some Coercion skill - maybe even Expert, since I`ve started to figure out that Coercion is very useful for the Warden. So I persuaded both Goldanna and Alistair and hardened Alistair without knowing it. This happened in late November - early December 2009 and I had not searched for any kind of guides or walkthroughs. I also thought that the name Goldanna was ominous (she was just after Alistair`s gold) so it was kind of a no-brainer for me. Then I read "The Calling" and I suspected that Alistair was Fiona`s child with Maric, and Goldanna`s mother was just a decoy. That settled the issue somehow ...

@domi I was a big fan of Cassandra, she was my Mara's hero! So then I romanced her with an devout elf that was a bad idea. Atheist Qunari or Devout Human only kinda gal, I was less f a fan after the romance to be honest. It's too bad you didn't mod Cullen too. I really like his romance. And Blackwall is good for just the right character but definitely not for all. So, Dusk with Solas and male Qunari with Dorian. Anders in 2. Thing for male mages?

I played with Riya a bit more - she made cookies with Sera, bonded with Cullen, when he told her about his past, had an intersting card game with her friends, rescued Sutherland and group from Darkspawn and fought off Red Templars at the Storm Coast: Love that new armor retexture, it makes the Dalish scout armor looking really cool (it was ok before, but I always found it a bit bland) And I took pics of the card game scene Aylin is in the IYHSB quest now: badass pic - never managed to get that one right before: Flirting with Josie Little Lia is bonding with IB and Dorian: Lirel just arrived in Castle Redcliffe

I finished the extended version of the "Rite of Passage", and posted it to The Dragon Age Fanfiction Thread, replacing the old version. It`s a story about a young Varric who must pass his rite of passage quest, and while doing it deals some revenge against those who exiled House Tethras. And Varric`s "secret" life is partly exposed ...

And Blackwall is good for just the right character but definitely not for all. So, Dusk with Solas and male Qunari with Dorian. Anders in 2. Thing for male mages? ;) I just want to see more of Cassandra's content, rather than romance her. In Dusk's parties, I ran mostly with Blackwall, so here I will run mostly with her. She was sort of silent so far. To be honest, Solas romance is too much like the romances I have written or played before in Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale II. Xan was an impossibly romantic elven mage, Kivan was an angst-filled elven ranger, and Diriel was an aristocratic extremist of the Shadow Druid and Elven reconquest leanings. Hilariously, Diriel was intent on seducing & impregnating PC under the auspices of the Tree of Life to produce a child in the name of whom the North would be united under the New Elven Empire and the Elven restoration begins. He was Solas-Morrigan, from what spoilers I have gleaned about Solas. He had the looks though. Well, as much as you can get the looks in a 2D game :) Anyway, I play with Solas, and I keep thinking back to those three old elven romances, and I do not want to keep looking back. Zevran, luckily, was sufficiently different from Coran, to not give me COran's flashbacks, because Zevran is more on the tragic side, where COran is irredeemable goof, plus with Coran I struggled so much with the coding, I forgot him as a character. Heh. Overall, I might be over my digging elves big time anyway. DA Elves are just... not as exciting as Faerun/Tolkien were waaaay back then. Dorian is different and he is a warm character.

Cass has no job except to blow in barriers. The mage is OP. That's all I can say. With two mages in the party, the mobs just had no chance. Even the bears are wimps. Actually, I should say with the player playing the protag as a mage, the mobs are dead before they can say booo! But I'm sure the bad guys in other zones are more badass. I equipped the elven mage with the T3 BM version right from the start. She looks fine (the arms were the same thickness as the warrior. I made a mistake when I did a preview in the previous PT and thought the riveted pauldrons were not available) but honestly, I'd prefer to put her in robes since she's a mage but unfortunately, DAI devs designed horrible rags that no mage would be seen dead in. The only good / reasonable looking armor, to me, is still the BM.

Ugh, still pushing on in DAO... The worst is now over after I've completed the Deep Roads nightmare, but now I'm with the Dalish and I couldn't really care less about their werewolf troubles Moreover, it's weird that the tribe members have American accents Maybe BW's vision of the whole thing wasn't all that crystallised back in DAO, because especially in later games the American accent is purely a dwarven thing. Not that I mind though - one big reason why I find dwarves so attractive in DA is their accent Varric should've been a romance option for Hawke :sob: Or at least it should have been possible to start a complicated relationship with him, with Bianca third-wheeling and exploding Chantries and mad skirt-wearing men interfering with their affair Ok, back to the point, which is DAO, I guess. There's really no way around it, no matter how I try to understand its supposed greatness, it just never delivers. The ,main plot just sucks so much ass. However, I'm trying to cope with it by venting my frustration on playing a total asshole character who goes on and does what he wants without giving a shit I destroyed the circle because I was so angry that some damn mage put me through the whole Fade BS, I left the Anvil of the Void intact and let Branka use it (and even offered Oghren's soul for the golem ), plus I punched Isolde and killed Connor (would've happily done off with both of them but sadly not an option). And of course I told Alistair off after he questioned my methods. And I also demanded that King Harrowmont make a statue of me. And when Morrigan didn't want to sleep with me for some obscure reason, I had some fun with Zevran instead And in the Dalish camp, instead of helping Cammen get Gheyna's approval, I seduced Gheyna and told Cammen that I had slept with his love interest That was a great moment. And I think I'll go and have a foursome with Isabela, Zevran and Leliana at some point. It's weird playing a character like this, because 99% of the time I play characters who are all noble and kind and nice and wants to save everyone. But this is strangely enjoyable, to be honest, saying and doing stuff I'd never ever do in real life. So there you have it, that's the effect DAO has on me But I'm sure my efforts will be rewarded after I get to import my save in DA2 and create a nice custom world state in DAI for some future playthrough. I think these two memes from the DA funnies thread really describe my character: Here's him in action: His face looks really punchable.

Well, it took longer than it should, as Sten would say, but now that I got more glyphs and healing spells, SotC is working perfectly. It made Orzammar and the Deep Roads a breeze, with all those narrow corridors and big caves In fact, in contrast with the pain that was the Brecilian Forest and all its damned revenants, everything turned out way too easy from Orzammar on. For a moment there, when I got to Gaxkang I was suffering again (more than expected, I mean), but then I realized I didn't set Shale's tactics right, I did, and again, way too easy. I understand that it's hard to find the balance in RPGs between equipment/level and difficulty, but it's a pity. Probably I should just change it to nightmare, but I'm afraid that might be too much I could also take off some of the cool stuff we're all wearing, that might make it more challenging again, but man, I worked hard to have all that There's a moment in RPGs where you look at how high your level is and how much cool stuff you have, and it's super satisfying So, meh, running OP through Thedas it is it's fun in a different way too anyway Btw, my super expensive purchases were finally Andruil's blessing and spellward for me, ring of ages for Alistar and the Felon's Coat for Zevran. Alistair is already wearing the Juggernaut armor and I like that he's the only one that can (more or less ) survive the friendly fire of SotC, having templar training and all. And I wanted to give Zevran something cooler, like a dagger, but we already have so many great daggers that I have trouble picking just one... i guess it's fitting though, since I'm always giving him clothes, like the dalish gloves and the antivan boots... Apparently, I'm already that kind of girlfriend, so... I have to say that I think they were all a rip-off, I'm not sure they're worth what they cost, but I have to admit that this was more a potlatch than anything else Anyway, I just finished Denerim, and I enjoyed it so much, I love those last quests there, Howe, Fort Drakon, aliengae and Landsmeet, favourite part of the game by far I was worried for a moment, because in this pt I wanted to have Alistair in the rescue party with Zevran, and when I went to Howe's State I realized he's the only tank I have but, fortunately, since I'm OP now, I just took Wynne to double the healing at least and everything went smoothly, enough that I was even able to killed Cathrien easily... I wanted to see how hard it would be, it wans't hard at all I reloaded and let them take me to prison, alone this time. Bad thing about having Alistair in the rescue party, he was the one who talked, I'd prefer Zevran saying "you missed me?" I have to say that even if I had supposedly every choice figured out beforehand, I had some doubts about the Landsmeet until almost the last minute. On one hand, while I was running around Denerim there was still a lot of banter about Alistair not wanting to lead, so for a moment I truly considered just let him kill the Archdemon and die like a hero, he's the heroic type after all, no persuading him to get Morrigan pregnant with an OGB, not persuading him to be king. But in the end Alistair showed that he was ready and willing to be king, and, selfishly, I don't want him to die, so meh, maybe it's people haven't realized yet that he's changed and he's just playing along On the other hand, I re-read The Stolen Throne not long ago, and for once I wasn't sure I wanted to kill Loghain. I like Loghain in the book. And sure, the ostagar business wasn't nice, but who cares if he tried to poison Eamon? Nobles killing each other, meh... But, again, Alistair.... Alistair's fate conditions my choices a lot in Origins poor guy, I don't want to marry him to Anora, sleeping with Morrigan it's just one night, a marriage it's a whole other thing... But then I thought of the elves being sold to Tevinter. It wasn't only Ostagar, there was also this. And then I remembered the night elves thing, also from The Stolen Throne, and that made it even worse... So, not only I killed him as usual, this time I did it myself (I usually let Alistair do it, for Duncan). Last thing I've done it's killing the high dragon, and I had doubts with this too, because I usually don''t like to. But I thought the fight would be fun and the loot would be good. They were not, the fight was still pretty easy and the loot, at this point of the game, it's nothing special. Maybe I should have done it before, but I couldn't have the first time I was here, that was before even going to Circle, because I let Isolde sacrifice herself for Connor... I was about to reload a previous save, but I'm keeping it. After all, my Inquisitor it's going to kill a dozen of them, what's one more? One last thing, all companion quests done, and leaving Zevran's aside because Zevran , Sten's is still the most touching for me, I find really endearing winning his respect. Oh, and that reminds me, awkward moment with Morrigan right at the end, when she tells me she thinks of me as a friend I didn' realized I got her approval so high, don't know how I did it, it must have been all the gifts and the fact that I didn't take her with me as much this time, so she couldn't disapprove my choices I felt bad when the dialogue started, considering I'm lying to her because I haven't killed Flemeth and I'm only pretending (Flemeth ) So, I reloaded and ignored her she's using us, I'm using her, we're both mages who like being free so we have that in common, let's leave it at that Now to Redcliffe and to kill the archdemon and then directly to DA2, my favourite part edit: OMG the wall of text, I didn't realize how much I was writting I don`t understand why don`t you try the lyrium traffic money scheme. It should work on PS3, and it is based on price differences, so it`s not exactly cheating. You need to buy the Potent Lyrium Recipe from Wonders of Thedas. Then You need one character with Master Herbalism to craft Potent Lyrium potions. Then go to the Circle and buy a lot of lyrium dust. Save some money for ingredients - at least around 1 sovereign if I remember correctly. You need to check the prices in the Gnawed Noble Tavern After that, go to the Gnawed Noble Tavern and buy the necessary ingredients for a few potent lyrium potions, sell then there, buy more ingredients, sell the potions, and so on. After a few trips between Lake Calenhad`s Circle and the Gnawed Noble Tavern, you have enough money for the needed equipment. main reason would be I didn't know it! thanks for the info! I'm near the end but it's good to know for the next time, though I'm usually not as greedy as I'm being this time

Approaching the end game of Trespasser. I'm at the point where I'm chasing after the Qun in the wilderness. Have to take an 8 hour break, have to go to work to make some over time. Solas, yeah, Solas. I got something for you, friend.

That's odd...it worked for me on my last DAO PT. I'm trying to remember...were there two parts to the Alistair hardening process? Immediately after meeting Goldana, you tell him...everyone is in it for themselves and then later, he talks to you at camp and he tells you he's changing. Ok. I stopped playing Awakening to go back to see if I did talk to Alistair at camp. Its turns out I didn't. Fortunately I had a save after visiting his sister. He says he will change. That was the difference. I just completed the landsmeet with him and Anora agreeing to marry and Loghain becoming a Grey Warden. On another note, I mentioned that I took Loghain, Wynne and Leliana to Ostagar in a previous post. Loghain and Wynne had a lot of dialogue. It was very good. When I went back to correct the above, I took Alistair, Wynne and Leliana to Ostagar. Wynne and Alistair have some dialogue. Even a couple of flirts, but I prefer the dialogue from Wynne and Loghain. Anyways. I will finish the corrected playthrough and use that to import into DA2.

I always loved Wynne and Alistair banter, he was laying it on thick to get her to fix his clothes... cute and silly. Sin Fell caught up to Dusk in record time, and is now The Inquisitor in Team Inquisition. I blame yet another blast of winter we got here for that achievement. Things I did differently: Recruited Sera, skipped Blackwall. Yes, his opening cutscene was just as good as last time, but now I knew that afterwards he does not exactly continue to be exiting. I picked up a cowboy hat, and Sera looks cool in that. Did an extra quest in Hinterlands -some sort of a "we don't sing" Andraste's splinter cell. I think I actually covered more ground and set up more camps this time. Well, I needed 15 Power Points to go see Templars. Talked a lot more with the advisers, save for Leliana. Josephine is very pleasant. Cullen is just as stressed as he ever was; one dialogue or ten, doesn't make any difference. Don't know what to make of Cassandra. On the surface, her story is very close to Dorian's, but somehow it feels less "real". I am also surprised how very few flirts there are, and not sure why Sin laughs so much when flirting with her. Templar's quest... I think the Whispers, despite the time travel nonsense was better in terms of plot moving. The characters were also better. Dorian fit with the storyline, Cole, despite being quite a nice character, is really not particularly comprehensive. They barely managed to fit in the Empress. If I did not play with the mages first, I'd be completely in the dark. I ended up with doing Dorian's intro conversations. Left Varric and Hawke wait for me to do team building and power points gathering. I need to gear up both Cole and Dorian and get used to the new team dynamics. Also I am hoping to get enough affection with Dorian via killing bad Tevinter mages to initiate his family quest. Hopefully, it works on Templar's path, or I did it all for nothing...

Dorian is not happy about the Templars, but you kill some Venatori groups with him (personal shit quest – as Varric's red lyrium, just less), and you will fine. If I know well. (I never choose the Templars yet.)

I have made a search, and it appears BioWare patched Dorian's quest trigger. So, I am less paranoid, but I will breathe easier once I see Giselle with that letter... because the only other alternative will be hacking his romance restriction with a mod on Dusk.

Oh finally! An authentic greatsword. I generally don't use Edgewise for the warriors because by the time it can be used, I already crafted a higher dmg greastword. However, I didn't notice the design of the greatsword until just now. Of all the available greatswords, it's the only one that is factual because of the ricasso; part of the blade just above the hilt that can be gripped, thus shortening the length of the greatsword so it can be used like a longsword. For the Edgewise, it seemed to be wrapped rather than dulled, up to the horns. I hope they put in better factual sword designs, especially for greatswords, for DA4. * So as a mage, I get slight differences in conversations. I managed to get IB all upset because I kid about the Envy demon. Dorian got his hackles up because, hey, there's an option to ask him again why he wanted to stay; despite his explaining it all in the cutscene dialogue before that. The specialists were funny, all three of them

I hope they put in better factual sword designs, especially for greatswords, for DA4. I really hope they put better factual armor and weapon designs for DA4. Armors and weapons were relatively decent in DA:O but started to be ridiculous since DA2. When I first played the DA2 demo (before DA2 was launched) and saw Bethany`s outfit, it seemed that Bioware dumped realism for showy and fancy. Her outfit is just unwearable - the heavy mail part is completely unsupported on the shoulders and waist; since it should weight at least 20-25 pounds, I cannot imagine Bethany being able to wear it for more than half an hour. And what followed in DA2 proper and DA:I was even worse. And not to mention the weapons ... Most of them just look cool but would be useless in combat.
