She actually does have long hair, but it is braided and pinned around her head. If they did not let those short strands to run away from her hairdo, it would look worse, because hair texturing is so bad.
Not that companion/advisor appearances could not have used more love. Those pallid, sweaty faces are just bad. In the Dawn of the Seekers film, young Cass certainly had long hair and was quite pretty. The years have been hard on her....and the Frostbite engine is definitely hard on hair! It looks like it's painted on. Still, they chose the worst hair style for poor Cass among the meagre selection of styles. (I guess it could've been worse; what's with the bald ladies in those Orlesian dresses?) To be honest, I find Cassandra very beautiful, once I got used to the absolute terrible paleness of all the characters, save for lucky Josephine. My major hair problems are with Solas and Blackwall, rather than Cassandra. Solas in particular angers me, because if a modder could make the very same character look absolutely dreamy by simply darkening his skin and adding a slight shade of stubble to the skull, why BioWARE elected to have him look more like a nightmarish vision than Cole and Justice, I am not sure. Equally, it beats me why Cullen perpetually looks closer to his deathbed than Thane (who actually was dying of asphyxia) ever did... Bold ladies in Orlais? Rachitic maybe? Rather common among the noblewomen in Renaissance... but to be more honest, to avoid clipping with masks and hats probably. They were trying to resolve "too many stock characters look the same" I think by using masks and hats. The way the hair is, fluff on the scalp is the best looking option for both genders. In short, I feel really lucky I am playing three years after the release and could apply mods.

The retextured armor look good so I downloaded it. However, I only see it on Solas. The Ing still has the ugly greeny armor. Mats not wasted though, I reloaded the save before crafting. Back to BM. ... oh wait, it's the dalish scout armor? *goes off to take another look* for the female version it's the Dalish scout, for male, the keeper armor

By the way anime style: Awesome. The best character in the game. Too bad she dies. If siding with the templars, she could remain alive, but lose her title. Gets recruited into the Inquisition and becomes a companion.

Finished Awakening. Killed the architect. Saved the keep. Let the city burn. Finished with over 900 sovereigns. I don't believe I've had that much before.
I played an arcane warrior. Who is stronger? Arcane warrior or Knight Enchanter?
Will start DA2 shortly

@domi I think Giselle wants Dorian to leave the whole time. First she tries to kill him by kindness then turns to fear mongering when that fails. Logical next step would be to grease the stairway, but I figure she wont stoop to murder. Yet. Longer pondering in spoiler. In her eyes, he's a text book case of the evil wizard who wraps up to the king and sends the kingdom spiraling into debauchery. I mean, we get to see the charming, funny idealist, but who knows how he comes across to the others. Add a few sinister looks on his face and I wouldn't be shocked to find him wielding the knife that slits the Inquisitors throat. Of course he ends up being a nice guy, but I would be suspicious if I was an npc in a dark-ish fantasy world.
First she tries to get rid of him in the nice manner. She only sees a worried father wanting to reconnect with his son. If she can get Quizzy to mend their relationship and Dorian to go back home, it's wins across the board for her. Family fixed, evil mage gone and the fluffy chair free for her butt. That fails, so she tries to use public opinion to push him out. Pretty sure there were plenty of people who didn't want a Tevinter mage rubbing up to the Inquisitor. Alas the writers say no her plan, so she slinks off into the garden, casting one longing glance at that cozy seat in the corner.

But I don't recall a single game where what was in essence a take on a Fighter-Mage was underpowered. Overall, I like the spirit blade > real sword 'cause it's a light sabre. Mage Hawke in DA2, or rogue?

Yes, I thought she wanted the noble Pavus to get the boy to pack up and go to... Tevinter, but I take issues with her plan to send the Inquisitor to trudge all over Ferelden in the dicey company of a guy who's going to start slashing his veins/have a congress with the demons any moment now, solidifying the friendship that is so troubling. She really should have asked the Inquisitor to send Pavus on a pretend errand with her to go to the Gull and Lantern if she wanted her best shot at having him shipped away.

Yes. With the difference that mages can deal with a few baddies at once while rogues deal with one baddie permanently, then do the same to the next one. At the end of the game, the difference is so great that a rogue Hawke has to use only auto-attack on Meredith because even using the meager backstab ability on her makes the fight broken. Meredith becomes unkillable because the damage passes the first stupid checkpoint which triggers that sky-jumping. It`s indeed a question of preference. A mage Hawke is boring and overpowered for me. And no fun in battle, because all I have to do with a party like say, Aveline, Isabela, Merrill and Hawke is to unleash some AOE`s and that`s it. No plan whatsoever. Instead, with a dual wield assassin-duelist Hawke with over 100% critical chance, it`s all planning and disrupting. Not to mention the most gratifying part: the instant demise of the most dangerous baddie. Something a mage can never accomplish.

You know, I don't like to support Templars, but Meredith a great character. She believes, that she's right, Anders also admits this. And Cullen: "...she needs a spine of iron, to survive her position". Too bad that she's paranoid. She would be able to be a good templar.

Arcane warrior or Knight Enchanter? Will start DA2 shortly Did you have chosen to let Amaranthine burn on purpose? Because you can save both the keep and Amaranthine if you have done all the keep upgrades (walls, explosives, weapons, and armor). Simply defend Amaranthine, leave Oghren, Anders and Nathaniel at the keep and they will win the battle at the keep for you. It was the second time in DA:O that I was able to use the non-party companions in a battle, after that Denerim siege when you assign the non-party companions to defend the city gates. And while it`s not possible to play the trio while defending the keep, it`s more satisfying that they are able to win the fight all by themselves. I did it in my first play of Awakening and never changed my mind. Back then I was thinking that leaving the keep at the hands of the trio can be viable since my dwarf brothers (Dworkin and Voldrik) assured me that the keep will hold. And it did.

No. She was broken the moment she witnessed her sister become an abomination. She`ll never be able to be a good templar or a good person. Not because that she is bad per se, but because nobody in the Chantry or the Templar order considered the thought of talking to her about her sister or the mages. She just suffered a shock as a consequence of that event (we will say it`s PTSD) and her career, and the choices she made were sadly influenced by it. My guess is that she would have ended annulling Kirkwall`s Circle one day, even without the red lyrium and Anders. She is not a bad person at all. It`s what the Chantry and the Templar order were seeking for their templars and especially their commanders (just consider Cullen), and the reason why all the Chantry policy concerning mages went south. Also, Meredith is very well written. I like the character, but not her deeds.

He has a very distinctive playstyle, heh, normally involving inflicting maximum pixel nuking. what was your best MET score, themikefest? Billions casualties? His PTs are interesting specifically because he does what most people go into extreme pains to avoid.

True, you can really inflict some nice casualties in DA:O with the Storm of the Century. Plenty of friendly fire material. I for one prefer the opposite way - minimum casualty. Anyway, Awakening is mostly broken at the combat level, because of the grievous insult exploit.

Yes, she was broken, and this made her unsuitable to her position (every leader position). She was unable to recover, as Cullen for example. I spoke about that if able to recover (not Kirkwall was the best place for it, and she was too young when she got her traumatic experience, Cullen was older), or without paranoia and PTSD. He was brave and charismatic leader and believe that she protect the people these traits could able her to be good Templar. But of course, you're right: with her paranoia and PTSD she was cruel and law-breaker, and weak to resist the temptation. His paranoia made her blind and hateful even without red lyrium.

I just did Here lies the Abyss.
The wardens are shite in this game, lets follow some Magister from Tevinter yay! Lets kill each other and use blood magic to bind demons to our will, yay! Oh well, that wasn't so good an idea, lets follow the Inquisitor instead... oh wait how about not or maybe... we swore an oath to follow blindly whoever has some plan or power. -.-
But did anyone notice the Archdemon? Wardens are the only ones who can kill it.
p.s. I am scared going to the ball, read you can mess things up here. I did make a savegame thouth and may just do it unspoilered to see what is happening...

My Ing mage PT is all over the place as I wasn't sure where to go to get the venotori tomes. I went to HW but I might as well not bothered; got only one tome after looking / galloping through venatori camps. I left the zone half undone and went to EP and finally got the last two. Currently at WA. when Cass said to bring in Inq forces to occupy the castle (Griffon Keep). *cough* it's not a castle, it's a fort.

Instead of starting DA2, I decided to do Golems of Amgarrak dlc. Even as an arcane warrior, fighting all those golems in that samll room kick my butt. If I had Leliana, dog and Morrigan with me, it would be no problem.
Ok. i started DA2 importing the above character. I chose rogue archer for the game. I will be choosing renegade and sarcastic dialogue. I guess it would be a sargade playthrough. Made it to Kirkwall. After meeting Varric, my Hawke went to her penthouse to talk to mom and the best uncle anyone could ask for. Now I will find some bad guys to deal with.

Willard Trevelyan, lvl16, rift mage, lone wolf (prequel)Finally Willard decided, that make the contact with the Qunari. Bull, Cole and Dorian joined to him. On the Storm Coast they met with an elf, Bull called him Gatt. Gatt was a slave in Tevinter, before that he joined to the qun. This has led to some controversy with Dorian. The group split in two, The Chargers went to the opposite hill. The qunari Dreadnought arrived... ...but... Willard should to make a decision quickly: the qunari alliance or the Chargers? Back to the Skyhold On the ramparts assassins ambushed Bull. Questioning beliefs So, that happened. And Bull is great! Bonus:

Oh what a boo boo. The female elven Inq asking Solas to dance...with a guy's voice. Bioware, how could you FU such a moment? I went through so much trouble too to make sure he would dance (I didn't get this in the previous Inq romance Solas PT). What a let down. I didn't get all 30 blackmail pieces because one eavesdrop zone glitched out. The mage Inq is wearing the light version of BM but I put the raven hood on her ;the Inq helm looks big on her. The leathers / fabric of her gambeson is dark but the armor, unfortunately, cannot be darkened. Otherwise, the mix and match is almost good. Bioware, I want black armor for DA4!!!

I recruited everyone else and started working in the rumors. DA2 is the only game where I want to romance someone else besides my canon. For a moment there, I actually thought about not re-doing my canon and go with Anders. Then I met Isabela and I thought the same thing. But then I talked to Fenris and it all went away, can't resist him It's a pity though, I like Anders and Isabela romances a lot Also, I'm thinking that having played the game like a thousand times, maybe I should for once try to play it on nightmare but the truth is I'm afraid of friendly fire, I'm awful at managing friendly fire I always try to use the healing aura the least possible so that I can spend most of the time throwing fire all around and I try to get every item that gives me extra fire damage, I can't imagine that playstile would go well iin nightmare In DAO there's a lot of places that turn out to be quite appropriate to cast SotC, big rooms with small entrances, and there's also paralysis explosion for those times where there's no bottleneck to take advantage of, but I'm not so sure about how well would that kind of thing work in DA2? I guess I could also try to get every item that grants fire resistance and stuff them with fire resistance runes? For Fenris at least, he's my tank. I could also go full healer/support, not very exciting but maybe fun in its own way. The thing is, what if after all I still can't manage nightmare, what the hell do I do with all the fire resistance stuff or all my healing/support spells? I am just playing DA2, finishing all quests from Act 1 and preparing for the Deep Road expedition. Changing some runes of fortunes with runes of fire protection (for the battle with the dragon), buying some runes of lightning protection to be changed later by Sandal for the battle with the Rock Wraith. And of course walking up and down The Hanged Man and to Hightown, Docks, Lowtown, the Gallows entrances with different companions to hear the missed banter. I was never able to hear all the banter in-game, and I forgot some lines - I wasn`t playing DA2 for the last two years. And I just realized this weekend why I love playing DA2 so much. It`s not about the story, which is unusual and has some nice surprises; nor is just about the companions, who are all well written and very realistic. IT`S THE CITY ITSELF. A similar feeling to the one I have felt while playing Baldur`s Gate II: Shadows of Amn and emerging in Athkatla after escaping Irenicus`s dungeon.
Kirkwall is a strange city, with bizarre buildings and districts, built of a cliff and with the Gallows on a small island. I liked walking on those streets and watching the sights, just like I liked Athkatla, which was also strange in its own way. What is different in the case of DA2 is the sense of familiarity which is growing with each playthrough. When I play Hawke, Kirkwall is my city now. In my first PT everything was new. But now, I also greet Lady Elegant, Worthy and Tomwise as some old friends. Or the merchants from every district - even Hubert. My viewpoint about the city changes during every PT from being centered at Lowtown in Act 1 to revolving around Hightown since Act 2. Because Hawke moves from Lowtown to Hightown. I have this feeling of being home because Hawke & Co are not just visitors, guests or just passing by like it happened in all previous games. They live in Kirkwall. So, the limited and repeating areas don`t bother me anymore. And sometimes I just take Hawke out for a stroll around Kirkwall at day or night. Just to see the city and listen to the noises and the banter. Just as I imagine Hawke will do sometimes, in the morning at the start of a new day or in the evening, after a full day. Just a relaxed walk, with nothing to do between two quests or tasks. I never tried to do such a thing in any other game. Dragon Age 2 is different.I agree so much about how everything in DA2 feels familiar and make you feel home in a very unique way, and I love it too, and I was also thinking yesterday while I was playing that they might took it too far, but it makes sense that you go back to the same locations time and again, I love that DA2 is a game that moves more in time than in space. Its narrative structure helps a lot too, I think, no overarching race to save the world plotline, just some relevant events vaguely connected to each other, just like you're living your life and things happen. And great for secondary quest integration, IMO. In DAO, side-quest don't hurt much because you can complete most of them while doing main quests, it might seem silly take some time to chase nugs for a guy when the Blight is waiting, but they're right there, after all, you don't usually have to go out of your way to do them. But in DA2 they fit perfectly, they're just the things Hawke was doing between big event A and big event B, and they add depth to your life in Kirkwall. Oh, well, what don't I love about DA2?

Weeper Cadash rescued a bunch of his soldiers who were kidnapped by the Avvar, put the chief of their clan in a gibbet, and then killed a House of Repose assassin who'd come to explain why his ambassador had to die. He followed that up by letting Leiliana send some assassins of her own.
