Getting rid of the Mako is really good news, but unfortunately, Shephard is still a soldier or not? Crestwood is one of my favorite maps, not only brings it the main story forward, but the mystery about the flooded town is really quite interesting. And deadlydwarf is right: you don't have to clear out a map, before doing another. Exalted Plains can get a bit boring, I normally do the Solas quest and the stuff for the Dalish clan and then I move on. I come back later to clear up the undead normally. Great news about Legacy, it is a really great DLC and is basically the prequel to some of the events in DAI. How far did you get in the first game? Shepard stops being a soldier early on, assuming a status of the first human Spectre, an operative who is above the law.
In the second game, Shepard is not a part of the military, and by the third he acquires messianic proportions that transcend any profession. In terms of gameplay, it is completely possible to play a character that rarely shoots a gun, but relies on his biotic powers, like a wizard (Adept); a tech based summoner class (engineer) or a rogue stealth class (infiltrator). They reworked the class skill trees, so you no longer just slightly tweak the same basic abilities, instead you have completely different 6 or 7 abilities in each class, some of them not weapon dependent, Thank you for the spoiler, I appreciate that. It makes me wanting to play ME again. Shepherd is still a soldier in my playthrough, but I guess, the humans have to win the trust of the council back first. I had choosen a vanguard in the first pt, but that is much too military for my taste. I will probably make an engineer or infiltrator (more rogue based)

Oh, gosh, did I have a gamegasm over Legacy! I had no idea I missed Revel and his crack team that much. I loaded post game save, saw his bedroom tidied up, and nearly tested up. Then it took me all of half a second to fill in the group with Varric, Anders and Fenris. Call me shallow, but the warm soft lighting conditions in Legacy made the colours on the character's so rich, and all of them look so handsome, it was a welcome respite from Inquisition. I love the landscape and character appearance way better in DA2, I can't really help that. It's way more fantasy like to me, and, yes, yes, I can't deny it. I love my characters looking gorgeous! By my personal standard. Revel looking vaguely Asian fit right in with the Silk Roadish vibe landscape. And then, the chit-chat, omg, the chit-chat. Sooo good. The four guys talked like they've known each other for years, and been through thick and thin. I was laughing at Varric making fun of Revel's penchant for finding trouble. The day you go to the beach, Hawke, is the day demonic haunted pirates are going to land there... And a brilliant repartee between Anders and Fenris. Run away from the Circle, run away from the Wardens, always running, Anders. Run from your family, run from Denerius, run from Hawke... another one with Anders lamenting going back into a Deep a Roads for the tenth or so time. Remind me, why we came here? To which Varric replies: oh, I like to travel, you think Hawke is cute. Good writing, amazing voicing. I made it in Deep Roads with more companion banter, and enjoying Hawke's easy flowing battle abilities. Unfortunately, the AI works against both Varric and Anders the way it positions the 300 archers out of Anders' LoS and makes Varric run right into them while seeking a ranged location. I will have to pay attention to Varric, or we'll run out of injury kits with him. I stopped at a point where we are about to follow a crazy Warden. Which, according to Varric (giving a side glance to Anders) is one of Revel's habits, running after madmen. In short, thank you very much, Origins CS. I'm glad Legacy is working out for you! So you weren't compelled to take your sibling? Given how much you like your DA2 team, you may want to get "Mark of the Assassin" and "The Exiled Prince."

I finished Trespasser with Iona, thus completing her PT. I had her romance Cullen and they married toward the beginning of the DLC. (Was there an option to do it later in the game?) Although I saved the Chargers during main game, humanized Cole paired up with Maryden rather than set her up with Krem. Iona caught all the Harlequins but scored only 76 on the fireworks puzzle. Anyone know how picture frames needed to be straightened? I think I only did three... As to the end, she pledged to stop Solas and she maintained the Inquisition as peacekeeping force under the control of Divine Leliana. Gamewise, I did Nightmare with trials. I had to craft armor for everyone using Tier 4 schematics of Prowler, Battlemage, and Battlemaster since these had additional arm and leg slots. I used Tier 4 materials for the armor, and focused on electricity resistance and magic defense. The toughest fights were the Saarebas fight in the Dwarven mines the Qunari were using and the big fighter after first meeting the Vidasala. Thereafter, with all armor and weapons modified, all other fights were manageable and the Saarath fight near the end actually went well and a second attempt wasn't necessary. I was able to do most of the fights in real time and used tactical mode sparingly. For those latter fights, I took both Cass and Thom along with one rogue. Iona was the only mage. Normally, no matter what my PC is, I usually take 1 mage, 1 rogue, and 1 warrior. In Trespasser, Dorian and Viv were way too squishy to be left to the dumb AI. I did have some technical issues. I had the mod for a large ponytail installed. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it reverted to the small, vanilla game ponytail. Also, the Yennifer complexion mod which made her look pretty in the main game looked horrible in Trespasser. Are all complexion mods no-go's in Trespasser? Oh well... I used Yennefer on my last pt with Lyana too and it did look ok. A bit more shiny than in the vanilla game, because you can't deshine a complexion in Trespasser as far as I know, but otherwise it was ok. I had the hair glitch too - in some scenes the vanilla hair showed up, in some others the the modded hair. And I had to deinstall all clothing/armor mods, before going through the eluvhian the first time. After that, it was ok.

I will probably make an engineer or infiltrator (more rogue based) I understand what you mean. I am uncomfortable with being a religious figurehead in inquisition. But, yes, Shepard is far less of a Soldier than, say, a trooper in SWTOR. Shepard is much more like Imperial Agent in SWTOR, who is recruited into a military background (intelligence branch), but never advances in ranks, and ends up being a pawn in the power games of every Agency Sith Empire boasts. Shepard grows out of his military background, imo. Anyways, I hope you will give a Trilogy another shot. phoray by the sound of it had far easier time with ME2/ME3, and might have even enjoyed it, while she walked away from ME1 bored to tears. I have only played Vanguards (Human and Batarian) in ME3MP, and there they are a blast, because MP is so trimmed down in its gameplay, so you practically charge non-stop, with maybe an energized heavy fist (as Batarian) or an Ah-HAH blast to their ugly faces as a Human. I started ME2 with a Vanguard, but instead of a third run through ME2/ME3 decided to try the DA franchise before it's too late. Shepard also acquires personality in ME2/3, I loved both of my Paragon and Renegade protagonists. Hawke, again, is nice, but I love Shepard more as a Grand hero/anti-hero than Hawke, and Smuggler/Bounty Hunter from SWTOR as roguish charmers/goofs/tough smart alecs. Though Hawke in Legacy seems better than Hawke in the main game, probably because the content is more saturated and voice actor is now more comfortable with the part. It sor t of does take the VAs some time to get into the skins of the protagonists that can be Many Things. Probably really interesting for them.... Anyway, back to the DA, right, guys? Sorry about the tangent.

@domi Good good. Out of the three DLC, that is the only one I say is a must have. Made me love my baby brotherCarver SO MUCH. And I did it in act 3 so at the end of the DLC--... oh wait. That's a spoiler for you. but that DLC made me cry. Just sayin. The banter where Anders and Fenris talk about running. I'd slept with Fenris and then rebounded to Anders in that one and so when he said... you ran to Hawke. Maybe we have lots of things in common." I was snorting laughter. Why, they did have "running to HAwke" in common. fylimar I found ME1 boring and had finished 1/4 when I stopped. I found ME2...Worth doing, because otherwise, you won't care about anyone you met in ME3 cuz it's a giant cameo fest to go along with your small crew of actual companions. But another thing to mention is that the Trilogy is about the losses and sacrifices of war, and it's goal is to make you cry, even though it does make you laugh too. I kinda cry easily, and I chose a sad romance AND a sad ending, in a way, so I am mostly just full of sadness now that I've completed it. Take that for what it is, I guess.
In other news, I have now tried all the games I'm supposed to so I'm now allowed to have an opinion about what constitutes good games to me. I look forward to playing a DA game again. With as bummed as I feel, and also, I am quitting my job in 8 hours, I don't know who to play. I think I'll go play DA2, I have a heavily modded Hawke meant for Fenris I never did finish. If I play my Brosca, I'll have to kill Zevran and I'm not up to harsh choices. I want hugs. Alistair, Cullen, and Fenris hugs.

Bethany has an outfit with chain mail at the start of the game (outside Lothering) which she keeps from Prologue to the end of Act 1. When she is taken to the Circle after Hawke returns from the Deep Roads (if Bethany was left in Kirkwall) she is indeed wearing a Circle robe. But her original outfit is just ridiculous. It`s basically a dress with heavy chain mail attached loosely at the front and back (under her breasts). The heavy chainmail`s weight is unsupported at shoulders (obviously) and waist (she have a very loose belt); so she practically shouldn`t be able to move too much really. I have read several books of military history about Republican Rome describing the chainmail outfit used by the Roman legions - how heavy it was, how the chainmail`s weight was supported by the shoulders and a waist belt. Bethany wears this outfit in the Prologue, regardless what class is Hawke: And you`re right about the anime style. Since DA2 Bioware started to slide toward that style with most of the armors, weapons, and some hairstyles. Not that Morrigan`s or Velanna`s robes were much better in DA:O ... As for the thorny hairstyles and confused gender look, they are still not there, but armor design is closing in - just look at all those spikes ... Maybe it`s just me, but I really dislike to see RPG characters going into battle and being constantly injured while wearing some ridiculous outfit which offers practically no protection, or is so unpractical that nobody would be capable moving or fighting while wearing it. I liked Bethany's original outfit.

Oh, yes, I thought the scene with Cullen was priceless. 7foot tall Qunari gal: so, are you attached, friend? *bats eyelashes* Cullen gulps, and you can see his stress level going so high he is not going to survive another flirt before breaking into involuntarily fit of blood magic via popping a vein. He mumbles something about friendship and runs away. Heh, I hope a human gal actually gets him to relax for a second, unless he is just as concerned about his performance as he is about the war efforts.

Cullen essentially controls his PTSD with OCD. Why I found the culmination scene so damn meaningful. Cuz he kinda goes, "to hell with cleanly perfection!" I have a big o description/thought of the scene and his romance arc in general in his specific romance thread but didn't want to spoil too much.

@domi Cullen essentially controls his PTSD with OCD. Why I found the culmination scene so damn meaningful. Cuz he kinda goes, "to hell with cleanly perfection!" I have a big o description/thought of the scene and his romance arc in general in his specific romance thread but didn't want to spoil too much. Well, I hope he finds a bit of happiness. He seems a nice person :)

Ah, no. I still believe that your experience is incomplete without Jade Empire. Hugs, and hope everything will be well. Kung Fu screaming of attacks? Uh... Probably not... Also, it definitely won't have a controller mod. Actually, it has the controller support built into the game, as far as I can see. The options in Game menu ask you if you want keyboard or controller. It was a console release initially, then ported to PC. It is an incredibly lovely story with a bright world, and lovely characters. Very funny too. :) The protagonist only calls out the style when switching it, and it is not screaming, not really. Oh, and it has Nathan Fillion's voice on one of the antagonists.

Oh, and it has Nathan Fillion's voice on one of the antagonists. *Squinty suspicion of game* is it going to try to make me cry? No, absolutely not. it is the last true BioWARE game, where they goofed around still & remembered that they used to be indie. You will play a standard young hero that is destined to save the realm. Three romances, one for boys, and two bi. The first bi male there for BioWare games, a milestone. Extremely pretty world, the best stylized oriental game I remember. graphics is a bit dated, but to be honest imo no worse than Dragon Age: Origins. protagonist is unvoiced, and you could pick one of the six appearances only (3 boys, 3 girls). It has a character called Hendpecked Hou! He uses a Drunken Master Style! They have Europe proudly represented by Sir Roderick Ponce Von Fontlebottom! Still enough love for the craft to actually have academia create an actual pseudo-language for the Jade Empire specifically. Gorgeous Lore. Their very first independent IP. That game pretty much paved the way for everything that came after the sale to EA. NOBODY dies!!! Only the bad guys richly deserving it... well, almost... but... well, it's wuxia!

(Ignore me, I'm just jealous...) Hahaha, I know you've played mage Origin. You know Cullen isn't... who he is in DA2. That's a totally lost Cullen with severe PTSD looking to a controlling lyrium addled woman for the answers. And post DA2/Pre DAI, he's finding himself again. And then, if you break him off the lyrium, he found himself again. IT's a beautiful romance. I can't find it now, but I saw an artistic piece where Cullen was literally drawn as falling while reaching upwards. Reaching out for help with an addiction is hard and that image really touched me. haha too bad I can only remember it and not find it.

Well, I hope he finds a bit of happiness. He seems a nice person :) "The mages cannot be treated as people…" "We have dominance over mages by divine right" Cullen? Nice person, yes... (Ignore me, I'm just jealous...) Yeah, but on the DA Male-Scale he is a catch. Did not murder babies, precipitated any wars, ripped any significant number of still beating hearts out, is not secretly suicidal, does not regularly converse with his weapon, and does not seem to be plotting an apocalypse so far (though the night is young, there is always DA:4, the Revenge of the Templars). He is a picture perfect of a well-adjusted individual against that background... as sad as it sounds. Maybe at the first glance. I have not gotten yet to his backstory. Maker only knows what thoughts that pale brow hides...
