"The mages cannot be treated as people…" "We have dominance over mages by divine right" Cullen? Nice person, yes... (Ignore me, I'm just jealous...) Hahaha, I know you've played mage Origin. You know Cullen isn't... who he is in DA2. That's a totally lost Cullen with severe PTSD looking to a controlling lyrium addled woman for the answers. And post DA2/Pre DAI, he's finding himself again. And then, if you break him off the lyrium, he found himself again. IT's a beautiful romance. I can't find it now, but I saw an artistic piece where Cullen was literally drawn as falling while reaching upwards. Reaching out for help with an addiction is hard and that image really touched me. haha too bad I can only remember it and not find it. This citation two from DA2, Act1 and Act2 or 3, if Hawke speaks with Cullen at Gallows. But yes, my first warden was circle Mage, probably this is, why I'm so biased for mages. That was bad feeling (my favorite origin). Kirkwall was the icing on the cake But I don't hate Cullen: 1. He thought about what Hawke said ( "Maybe you're right, I will check it" or something similar – if I remember correctly); 2. He let Hawke and Anders go away; 3. He left the Order. (+1 He's handsome man ) I watched some part of his romance and seems good.

Well, I hope he finds a bit of happiness. He seems a nice person "The mages cannot be treated as people…" "We have dominance over mages by divine right" Cullen? Nice person, yes... (Ignore me, I'm just jealous...) When you first encounter him in the Circle Origin in DAO, he is a very nice guy. If your Circle Mage is female, you find out he has a crush on her. And if she tries to flirt with him, he can't handle it and literally makes a run for it! But then the Circle explodes into Demons and Blood Mages and he develops a more negative attitude towards mages. Then in DA2, he sees Templars go off the Deep End and greatly modifies his views. He also sees the toll of lyrium addiction on himself and others and leaves the Order. By the time you see him again, all his past experiences have made him wiser and he is a genuinely nice guy - once more. domi I did the Cullen romance on this last PT and it is nice. My PC was an elven mage, so for him, he was stretching two ways. But a giant Qunari with horns might have been too much for him to handle! By contrast, Sera actually prefers Qunari women.

My archer Hawke is doing well. Ignoring any companion quest. Ignoring most quests except the ones that move the game forward. - Went to the deep roads - Bethany went to the circle - I used the murder knife on the hornhead - my mom was murdered. - Petrice lives - the horners attack my city - its just you and me boss hornhead. - haha. I'm the champion. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. You know what? What? I will tell you. If Petrice survives DA2, why not have her in DAI and she could be made Divine? Divine Petrice. I like that. If that was possible, I wonder how many would pick her? I can see the DA team reading this post and getting a good laugh.

I decided to switch out the Inq medium scout armor for Skyhold pj for the prologue retextured armor; I recently found this option at Nexus. The scout armor looks good but I don't like the way the front and back panels bulged out when the Inq is in profile. I have the Inq romanced Solas and I'm definitely surprised that the romance with Cullen can be started. I read somewhere that choosing the heart during the chess game locks in the Cullen romance, I didn't, so I'm not sure what's going on here. In the previous Solas romance PT, Cass remarked in Trespasser that no one knew who the Inq was interested in. That kind of implied that the meetings between the Inq and Solas were unseen. That was a surprise. So is it the same case with this PT? No one knows? I wonder if I have the Inq start it, the only one who will know she's dbl dealing is Solas.

Why am I getting an odd impression I am being subtly manipulated to get it on with Cullen? Because he is great in every way! He's handsome (in most scenes. In Val Royeux the lighting was hideous.) Because flirting with him, he is adorable! *cough* "Hmmm huh" Smile- hand on neck. Because he worries about you before you run out to fight the dragon at haven. "But if you go out there, you'll die!" Deep look--realization- heavy silence-- nod. Because he admits to worrying about you more fully when you arrive at Castle! "When you went out there I.... I'm just promising you, I'll never let it happen again. You have my word." Because he is the only one, regardless of gender/romance, that asks you how you're handling your Quiz Duties! Cass comes mildly close but it's worded differently. In a admiring, how do you be so awesome way. Cullen is more like, "A lot had been going on, and I'm honestly wondering how you are feeling." Because the Chess scene feels like an actual date! you don't get that in any of the other romances. Maybe Sera's roof time? might come close. His hugs-- the way he holds you-the way he kisses you, the way his culmination scene spoke of passion! Because he is only one of two characters who get a major romantic event in Trespasser that is SUPER COOL AND HASN'T BEEN DONE ELSEWHERE. He's tops for fave romance for me, although I know Dorian will give him a run for best vanilla game romance- but Dorian's Trespasser stuff is not as good and I honestly consider Trespasser to be part of the main game. Not to be missed. Like LEgacy is for DA2! And that's enough about Cullen but I lurve him. By the way! I think maybe you like DA2 art as well because that engine is what the entire ME Triology used.

fylimar I found ME1 boring and had finished 1/4 when I stopped. I found ME2...Worth doing, because otherwise, you won't care about anyone you met in ME3 cuz it's a giant cameo fest to go along with your small crew of actual companions. But another thing to mention is that the Trilogy is about the losses and sacrifices of war, and it's goal is to make you cry, even though it does make you laugh too. I kinda cry easily, and I chose a sad romance AND a sad ending, in a way, so I am mostly just full of sadness now that I've completed it. Take that for what it is, I guess. fylimar Oh, I also wanted to say. ME2 wasn't bad. It had a lot of good moments. I just found the format really strange. I think it has possibly the largest cast of companions of the three? and I think it's like, 12-13 companions? That is like...too many. And 3 of them really fell flat for me. So it was like - "Introduction Mission"
- Gather companions. Do loyalty Quests.
- "mission"
- gather companions . do loyalty Quests.
- "Mission"
- gather companions one more time do Loyalty Quests.
- "End Game".
It was roughly like that. But it might have been the only time I ever played so I wanted to get all of them because I didn't know who I'd like. And I've played part of ME1, so I knew all the cameos in 2, but you might not. But I kinda recommend skipping the first. I ended up liking ME3 A LOT, but it would have been full of strangers (cameo fest!) if I hadn't done two. So skip one and go straight to 2, I swear you'll have a better time of it. If you give it a 2nd chance like I recently did. I also played on CASUAL. And their casual is pretty casual, sometimes I'd just wander off and let my teammates shoot things while I looked for loot. my strategy of shooting was to slow time down and snipe or walk up to their face with a shot gun and then run away haha

I continue to be amazed by how flattering the light is in Deep Roads right now, took a few screenshots, look so much better than DA:I... aww. I mean, it's Dark Roads. Dorian got me with his dialogues, but Cullen... well, I look at him and I see a workaholic, and stress, stress, stress. I guess Lyrium addiction explains the deathbed look. And the questionable fashion choice, a tribute to BioWare's self-delusional belief that they can do hair textures right. Anders picked those furs for him in the same store his bought his feather rich outfits or what? Anyway, I am going to stay with Dorian for the time being. Restarting a game for the third time and with an elf... they are so tiny in Inquisition (sigh). I really love those awesome tall avatars.

I liked DAO art because it had this dark dank dirty medevil look to it. I also think Alistair is the most handsome and find him the least handsome in DAI. DA2 gets cleaned up but it's definitely more anime esque, I agree. DAI fails so hard at hair. Not just head hair. Facial hair. And movement of the hair. but I like it for it's...control over scars and eye color. Jose and Cullen work the hardest in DAI of the three advisors. Leliana just seems to be sitting around plotting. So both of them act overworked and a lot of their story seems that they can relax around the Quiz at least a little bit. And cullen always made time for me to kiss him on the ramparts. He's much more relaxed later, IMO. Nah, enjoy Dorian! Dorian is adorable, I can't wait to do his romance.

phorayThanks for your opinion on ME. Maybe I just quit the first part. I really like Garrus and Wrex, but if I have to enter the Mako one more time, I have to cry. At the moment it is really boring and it had such a good start, with the creepy feeling on Eden Prime. About DAI romances: For DAI, I really can recommend the Iron Bull romance. He reminds me so much of Zevran (the only character in DAO, I liked to romance), he is funny, actually cares abour the inqui and is more than meets the eye - great romance.

@domi Just don`t let them manipulate you! I never really liked Cullen, not even in DA:O, during the mage origin. And I played once that origin with a human female mage, to see his reaction. He is quite bland and ... let`s just say "not very bright". But then again I`m a man, and not really into the romancing stuff in RPG`s. I have tried the romance options in every BW game I have played, and I was never really impressed. These romances are not bad, just usually don`t have too much depth. If you compare the reactions of a romanced character with her/his reaction if only befriended (or rivaled in the case of a rival romance), there is not much of a difference outside the romantic scenes, and those are way too few. Anyway, I don`t play RPG`s for the romance options. Just play DA:I as you want, the way it feels right to you. And choose the romance options you like, not someone else`s favorite.

I am catching up with new missions on the tactical map and we made contact with the Qunari thanks to Iron Bull. The mission however didn't go well, I may replay it and let the Chargers die this time. There are however no consequences, you either get official leads from the Qunari or inofficial from Iron Bulls old contacts. No idea if there is something boiling up in the long run. The wardens didn't last long... fought bravely... and now all the troops Weisshaupt was willing to send us are gone. Then I closed the game and waited for the missions to finish, got cought in a session of Shenzhen IO and forgot the time Oh, Cullen dropped Lyrium as we all know, had some mental breakdown and we build him up again. Cassandra still having an eye on his behaviour and if it affects his duties.

So everyone, please tune in for the final instalment of "Wildfire plays DAO" Indeed, I finished the third PT of the game as of yesterday. It was actually more enjoyable than the last two PTs, in part because I turned the difficulty down and concentrated almost purely on the main quest. Also, I managed to choose the correct Origin this time, which was Male Human Noble. So in the end I married Anora and became Prince/King Consort of Ferelden, which is a good result given all the effort I put in But really, I've got to say that the whole origin stories thing is utter bullshit. It feels as if the game is made for a human noble, and the other origins were just copypasted afterwards. If you choose any other origin except for human noble, you just get less options during the landsmeet, and on top of that it is hard to justify your interest in resolving the affairs in Ferelden. The whole "solve other people's problems in order to get an army" doesn't work for me at all. My Warden ended up romancing Morrigan, although he did play around with Zevran for a while. Zevran is a great character, actually, and it's pretty weird that I had not explored his content in my earlier playthroughs. On a "sadder" note, I thought that I would be able to kill Loghain and get Alistair executed, but apparently this was not possible But I guess this made sense because Alistair doesn't leave the Grey Wardens if Loghain is killed and the Queen probably can't just execute Grey Wardens like commoners. And my Warden definitely wasn't going to let Loghain get away with what he had done, so Alistair remained alive in the end. Lucky bastard I think it's great that there are so many different possible outcomes for the Landsmeet. That's definitely one of the pros of DAO. And the fact that you are able to marry the ruler is a cherry on top of the cake. I do appreciate the possibility to shape the world in many different ways, even though Bioware obviously ran into problems in later DAs because it was so difficult to make all those player choices affect the world state in a relevant fashion. It was ambitious, which is commendable, and I do hope that one day Bioware can offer us better choices than "become lapdog of Chantry/disband" style binary options Anyway, now that DAO is done I can start playing DA2 again Just started a new game in DA2, and this time I'm planning a playthrough with the default Hawke face, which is actually pretty awesome now that I've gotten used to the look. Mostly choosing red dialogue options, and her face is perfect for that. Although at times I feel that the red option is even a bit -too- aggressive or direct. I flirted with Merrill and it sounded like, well, almost ridiculous in its directness: Merrill: I wanted to thank you for bringing me here, but I'm making a mess of it. Hawke: How about a kiss, then? I think that the line is definitely affected by the character of Hawke, and Hawke almost made it sound like a threat Only Hawke can flirt with someone while sounding like she's going to slowly dismember them if they refuse

It was ambitious, which is commendable, and I do hope that one day Bioware can offer us better choices than "become lapdog of Chantry/disband" style binary options It was exactly my feeling when I played DA:O with a Cousland for the first time. My very first PT was with a Dalish because I wanted to play an outsider who can ask a lot of dumb and obvious questions. I knew nothing about Dragon Age lore and Thedas. And I`ve run quite early in a bunch of quests with little meaning for Mahariel - like those about saving Eamon, Connor, and Isolde, which were just the perfect image of dumb, insufferable and idiot for a Dalish. The whole Redcliffe business seemed an utter nonsense for a Mahariel, with his small clan logic. Eamon was Cailan`s uncle - why on earth wasn`t he with Cailan at Ostagar from the start? And Isolde & Connor "succeeded" between them to kill almost everybody in the castle and a good deal of the villagers. Just wonderful. And he just needed to play nice with such selfish morons because of Alistair`s plea - who by the way was just sent packing to the Chantry as a kid from the same family because of Isolde, and despite the promise, Eamon has made to Maric. That was just rich! Not to mention the even more stupid show between Bhelen and Harrowmont. Fighting over a mostly imaginary kingdom during a Blight? Mahariel would have liked to see them fighting in a Proving duel to sort the thing out in less than an hour. But NOOO! He needed to go under all Ferelden digging up a so-called living God while entertaining a drunkard who has the habit of confusing him with his wife. Many quests in DA:O make sense only for a human noble protagonist. Besides these above, most of the Landsmeet questline was quite a nonsense for Mahariel, except the Alienage part. So yes, playing as a Cousland makes things "certain" as the qunari are saying... Bioware would never be able to support meaningful in-game choices in the next games. Either they space them in time (a generation at least), or make them meaningless right after the moment you have chosen. Like the nice choices from DA:O, smoothly overturned in the next games.

One of the good things about DA:O for me was that you can see full romance with Alistair, and then when he abandons the Warden - full romance with Zevran. It's a bit meta-gamey, but it is definetly economical and makes sense. Despite the copious amount of content, I've never had any serious emotional responces to either male lead in DA:O.
I have been playing more of the Legacy. It is starting to feel like an answer to a complaint: "but we did not have a real dungeon crawl in DA2!" Legacy does have the feel of a very old-fashioned multi-level dungeon, with hard battles at every junction. Luckily, I am more or less back into DA2 mindset, and by swapping between Hawke to direct the flow of the battle, and Anders to do cc and heal in time, have managed to cope with only one Varric death. Alas, I have to pause much to do that, and can't rely on muscule memory to fight with Hawke while watching him fight, because of the swaps and having to watch the health bars, and that's one of my guilty pleasures. I love DW rogue in DA2...
I am still in the Tower floor level of the map, I think it would be Level 3 of the dungeon. I am starting to get a bit antsy for the story to move a bit more. However the character interaction was well spaced and amazingly dense.
It is well written giving full impression that the four cohorts has known each other for years. The only problem I have is that despite maxing out dialogue volume the banter, unless I stop and move the camera towards the speakers is too quiet. It must be coded under ambient noise volum level or something. So, I enabled full subtitles, so it is easier to see which man is speaking. I normally can pick out Anders easily enough, but Hawke, Fenris and Varric from time to time are too close to one another.
Anders is having more and more troubles coping, as we go deeper in. A brilliant piece of dialogue happens when he starts lamenting: my love, I am tainted, and that's on top of my Justice problem, you have to leave me, etc, etc... to which Hawke, without losing a bit responds with: Oh, baby, tell me more... it's obvious that they had been throu this about a thousand times before, and Hawke is totally comfortable with Anders' breakdowns. That's actually is the dialogue that has the line they have in the title of Anders' thread here on the forum: nobody's perfect.
Also loved Fenris usual ray of sunshine comment on yet another one of Anders' erm... voiced concerns. You know, he's going to go mad, and kill us all.
Hawke' listening to his father is neat as well, so, yeah, lots of feels, but I am kind of a three level dungeon girl, more than three feels like the game's cheating! Everyone knows things come in threes in video-games. Amirite?

I have to admit I can't see the negative aspects of mage combat animation I sometimes read about in posts; I think it's fine. I think it has to do with how rare I'd want to play a mage so I've nothing to measure DAI style against another. I do see the negative aspects of the skill limitations. Just cleared up the darkspawn infestations at SC. I to see a pair of darkspawn in a pew pew contest against a pair of Hessarians. The distance between them? About a metre. Come on guys, you can kill each other in less than a minute. *taps foot, looks at clock* All four still standing.

Oh, I like it, but if I had more time, and was still young, bright-eyed and bushy tailed, I'd certainly finish my red mage and green warrior, because I liked the personalities that they developed if you were consistent enough.

I think that the line is definitely affected by the character of Hawke, and Hawke almost made it sound like a threat Only Hawke can flirt with someone while sounding like she's going to slowly dismember them if they refuse While it is true, that the DAO story feels like a Cousland story, I love my little outsiders, my Dalish and city elves and castless dwarves . I never felt 'left out', most of the time was more like 'thank the creators/ancestors/deity of choice that I don't have to deal with that noble shit on regular basis, I rather go and deal with darkspawn'. I normally love to play the outsider in most games. Yeah the Landsmeet decisions are pretty neat, but if you like to have both Loghain and Alistair dead, you could recruit Loghain and let him sacrifice himself at the end, AListair gets executed by Anora, all is well

I started another DAI PT - this time as a female elven rogue archer. I want to try mixing archer skills with the Assassin specialization to see if I can duplicate the kind of rogue archer my Hawke was in DA2. In the CC, I used fylimar's Riya sliders to create the PC though I opted for light skin rather than Riya's olive complexion and I gave her dark brown hair (at least a move away from the blonde hair, emerald eyes look I had been using). The end result, of course, looks a lot different than Riya. Sadly, she lacks Riya's "cuteness" factor. But given my lack of artistic talent, anything that looks better than the Medusa of Greek mythology is acceptable! Also - another fylimar rec - I outfitted her with rogue Raven armor. Combine that outfit with the "Bow of the Dragon" and the end result looks like a barefoot Batgirl!

I finished Legacy a short time ago. I brought Bethany, Isabela and Aveline. There is a spot to click on near where Hawke will eventually encounter Cory. I had dialogue between Hawke and Bethany. It was....very ruthless. Not towards Bethany, but to anyone that would cause her harm. I liked it. I've been choosing the bottom dialogue with a mix of sarcastic a few times.. So if someone were to play a sarcastic or diplomatic Hawke, I would guess the dialogue would be different. Don't know.

deadlydwarf Are you kidding? She is gorgeous. Save for being 4 feet tall, but you can't do much about that :) I can sort of see what you are saying about Cosuland being a default story maybe, but tbh, it never occurred to me as I trooped on with my Elven Mage. Maybe my nearly two decades of playing video games dulled my need to question as to why me? but I honestly thought that the elven mage was an obvious first choice to solve the dwarven problems and fix the relationships between the werewolves and the Dalish. After all, she is the Lone Warden, that's why! The only quest that blew my mind in terms of pointless, was the Great Urn Expedition, because just like pretty much everyone with an ounce of reasoning, I did not see how the younger guy would not do in place of the dying guy. I really needed a "finish the assassin's job and let's be done with it" clandestine option there. I've dreamed about it while chasing after the elusive Father G.
