I have to say, 'before the Dawn' is a bit frustrating. YOu have to run between Cullens room, Dagna and the war table a lot

I like the fact that it pretty much spans the entire game, though. If you pick Templars and do the Leliana/Calpernia quests instead, you can be done pretty soon after reaching Skyhold and then there's nothing more about her until the Arbor Wilds. With Cullen/Samson, each area you go to provides a little bit more info, finally culminating in squaring off at the temple. I like that sort of pacing.

fylimar Of the three books David Gaider wrote, Assunder is the best. After you read this, you'll finally understand what Cole is talking about! Stolen Throne (Gaider's first book) is also good for understanding how the Kingdom of Ferelden emerged prior to DAO. Not much about magic in it, though. 2nd book, The Calling, is the weakest largely because of some things I found weird in the final third of the book. But it does fill you in on the Architect in Awakening, the adventures of young Duncan, and more GW stuff in general. Yeah, I will read Asunder. I was just a bit put off, because I was spoiled about Wynnes fate, then Cole became a companion in DAI and you get his fate as well as the fates of Rhys and Evangeline too, so I kind of loose interest in reading it. But that is of course stupid - watching Game of Thrones and reading the books are two very different things too (in case of GoT, I very much prefer the books, especially the Dorne stoyline there), so I will give Asunder a try again. I did something similar with Lírel as you did with Revas - I only use weapons and armor, I find until Skyhold. It makes fights a bit tougher, like in my first playthrough prior to Trespasser DLC and Golden Nug, but it's fun Riya just finished Emprise du Lion, killed Imshael, freed the townpeople and got the information for Cullen. The new KE build is really powerful and fun to play, even without a blade. I like it. The most annoying thing about the books are all the interesting characters that never show up in the game or who have limited cameos. In Stolen Throne & The Calling, you meet young King Maric who is already gone by the time of DAO. From Asunder, Cole does make it into DAI but Rhys and Evangeline get only a war table mission. Masked Empire by Paul Weekes focuses on the interplay between Briala, Celene, Gaspard, and Michel de Chevin, but all you get in DAI are brief dialogues. (I think Briala would make an interesting companion.) Oh well...

Dog! Oh Dog. I love you more than Space Hamster. WHAT? Space hamster is the greatest hero of all in video games. He's the one that rescues Shepard after the reapers are destroyed. He get's his own ticker tape parade. The Milky Way is renamed The Hamster Way. Dog isn't bad.

I did a bit of googling. Apparently if you DON'T bring your LI you can kiss Tallis regardless of romantic entanglement. So, essentially, you can kiss cheat on your LI. So, I'm guessing Tallis has no effect on relationships in the game, but I'm just not going to RP a cheater o_O My fling with each LI will end the moment they all run angrily from the room after we sleep together. So, MOTA in act 1 with a Tallis Kiss, Flirt with everyone, including Aveline, Fenris->Anders->Merril->Isabella forever! with a threesome with Zevran for good measure.

It's my computer attached to a TV. I tried all of the options from the DA 2 menu. There is only one tv mode that makes my computer screen show up, HDMi, or did you mean something else? If it`s your computer using a TV as its screen it can be easier to fix. Start DA2, go to OPTIONS, choose VIDEO and look at the Resolution option. DA2 initial setup is peculiar - the game chooses the 1024x768 resolution as default. Which is a 4:3 format, and most likely your TV is not using it. If you know your TV default resolution, try choosing that from the menu. Most TV`s have a 16:9 format, and resolutions like 1280x720, 1920x1080 or 3840x2160 (for 4K). If your game is set for a different format, like the 4:3 old one, or a 16:10 like the older screens, your image is cropped on a TV. Try choosing a 16:9 format and see what happens. If you have an ultrawide TV, that`s something else ... Nah, it's a relatively appropriate size for a computer screen. It defaults the game at 1600x900 (16:9) which looks great in the menu screen. But then chops off all the edges in regular game. Can't see health, dialogue, or even the subtitles at the top of the Screen. 1366x768 makes it too small, and I start seeing my desktop. Same for all the options below the 1600s, .... Well geez. Yesterday, full screen mode flickered and made it to where I couldn't click anything. Today, it works. Sigh

NoooooApart from my Dickquisior play through I have never neglected IB before. I had no idea you had to kill him even if you left him behind. Serves me right I guess. /sigh. So my seventh play through is now over. Varrys decided to not disband (to stay close to Cass) and told Solas to bite it. I may get a Dalish Elf origins start in before ME:A hits, but otherwise I'll be quiet in this thread for some time. It has been great reading about everyone elses play-throughs. Remember what IB says after the Chargers die: Iron Bull is no more. He's back to being part of the Qun. It's good that you left him behind; otherwise, your team against the Qunari would only be 3 for the rest of the game. I didn't let the Chargers die this playthrough though I just sorta...ignored them. Do they die anyway if you flat out neglect IB? I'll have to check out the tavern at the Winter Palace to see if they are there. And yeah you don't have to finish the game with only two team members like previously mentioned. My Dickquisitor was able to drag Dorian along when he went through the mirror. I'll have to extra romance IB again down the line to make up for this misstep XD

DA2 not a love at first sight. It was for me. But then I guess anything DA is grist for my mill. *chom chom chom* until an unlovely corn of clone dungeons and mob waves came in. Still, I like the game / story / chars.

Pondering differences of this Hawke from the rest. I wanted him to be anti Qunari but then couldn't figure out why he'd be anti qunari but not also anti dwarf and anti elf if he were just racist. Then, inspiration struck; I'm going to say he knew the Farmer Family that Sten killed. The fact that the Chantry mother then pardoned him was just salt in the wound. Pondering if that would make him anti Chantry but then, i was kinda wanting to side with Petrice this round just to see what awful that would look like. It's going to be interesting to not have the Arishok's respect. I could make him a lapsed chantry guy. Seb will go full Brother, and Merril with be rivaled. poor Merril. Being mean to Merril is rough, I always feet like I'm whapping a puppy. If I rival Merril, that'll make Aveline, Anders, Fenris, Bethany happy. I'm rival mancing Isabella this time too. Bethany: Friend But perhaps not 100%, who knows. Varric: Friend Aveline: Friend Seb: Friend Fenris: Friend Anders: possibly rival. I'm going to see how it shakes out and not metagame it too much. (I meta so hard with DA2 haha) Merril: Rival Isabella: Rivalmance Once I gather everyone up, my team is going to be Isabella, Merril, and--- hmm. I'm a two handed warrior. Bethany will be my third when available. Other than the Deep Roads, I don't much plan to take Anders anywhere this game. I'm even going to take a break from Fenris. Which leaves Aveline, Varric, and Seb; I've hardly brought any of those folk anywhere. Who is good to go with Isabella and Merril?

When I played the dlc in Act 3, I've had my LI with me, but never made any advances to Tallis

Why does Anders not even blink when Hawke says he won't do anything with children or animals. that should have been an uncomfortable laugh. themikefestI don't know much about the Tallis romance because I've only played MOTA once and didn't like her enough to consistently flirt, which I think you have to take every flirt option. But if Kissing isn't available at all till Act 3 I'm confused.

Interesting. I reloaded because asking a question screwed me out f my +5 friendship with Bethany. The same line is said two different ways depending on questions vs no questions.
I don't care what people say, DA2 was so well done in the dialogue. And maybe nothing Hawke did much matters after DA2 completion, but from act of act it has excellent consistency and world feedback

Ooo. Sarcasm apparently means flirting with Isabella. I like.

Okay, I had a very fun play. Finally, maxed out the Dalish affection, following deadlydwarf advice to herd the Golden Halla. I kept thinking it will be an epic quest including trudging up and down the place, but it was easy to find and basically just escort it to the camp on the horse. I've also found the bears in the Emerald graves, as well as doing a minor quest on the way (fighting Dalemen and Sister Something). More bears than I wanted, and a couple of giants. A couple of rifts were a bit trying, seeing the critters were level 16, and I am 13, but we cooped. The Knight Enchanter... wub! I STILL cannot make it North on that Exalted Plains map, though I managed to got as fat as the north-most camp - I guess one of the ops unlocked the passage. But not as far as Cassandra's target. Oh, forget it for now! Then I relaxed and tried my hand at a Human Female character creation. Liked it more than the elf. She is still a generically pretty waif, but if I ever try to win Cullen's heart, well, I can always park in the Emporium :) Figure 1. Lariko, my best shot at a human archer (*groan* a pun...). Cullen approves? Then I went back to Sin Fell. The Dumat Shrine was great, and I warmed up to Sera. Her shrill comment was priceless: Don't ya know shrines are bad?! Ah, was not that bad... Figure 2. Dorian, wow, blue is your color. Keep talking... Speaking of Dorian, I am starting to think that Tevinter is more like Bysantium, and Corynpheus is going for the Holy Roman Empire historic analogies. As if I can possibly obsess over Dorian more... Bysantium... my heat is either broken... Then we ventured to the Western Approach. OMG, love it, love it, love it!!! Figure 3. Sin Fell is finally dressed for the weather. And, surprise, surprise, we got another evil mysterious Temple of Doom, this one of extreme stillness. Wow, I finally got a staff update for Sin. I was laughing because Team Inquisition did not like the reopened rift... but I figured, if anyone should be opening the rifts, it's one man on Thedas who can close them. He can do it now with his eyes closed! So, I feel like I am finally moving forward!!! Figure 4. This does not look ominous at all. Nuh-huh. Not a single bit.

think i got like 20,000 gold from Deep Roads.
my current Warrior DS Reaver went with Cole ( mark of death ) , Cassandra (DS also but no points in Champion ) and Dorian ( Walking bomb) .
anyway, got rid of CoryHart afterwards with Cole, IronBull and Cassandra, no mage. Got damaged a bit by his ME3 Mars mission disinfecting scanner but nothing serious. The Dragon was a non event.
And now on to Trespasser, or how to still get lost through those eluvians. :/

@domi The Still Ruins is my favorite dungeon in the game. Glad you're enjoying the Western Approach. There's quite a bit to do in that area, even without meeting Hawke. If you like the dragon fights, the one for this area is pretty epic. PS: Dorian looks good in pretty much everything.....or in nothing.

If you like the dragon fights, the one for this area is pretty epic. PS: Dorian looks good in pretty much everything.....or in nothing. Agreed on that last point, though I think rich colours suit him more than the pastels they put him in by default. In other news after a few experiments I found and outfit for Sin that does not clip Dorian's fingers through Sin Fell's hips (by councedence it's the casual deep blue Vivacity). Of course, I had to replay the kissing scene multiple times, but it was for science, and no sacrifice is too great for science. Now, if only I could fix the amatus vo.
