Spent a bit more time in the Western Approach - that place has some issues, man. But, I cleared out Griffon Wing Keep And then went on a mission to clear out some darkspawn, who, even in death, were rather fabulous... And found a guy who'd clearly been very attached to his piece of the mosaic... After that, I had Crestwood's dodgy-as-hell former mayor shortened by the length of his head, crafted some better gear for Blackwall and Vivienne and had a chat with Cassandra about finding the missing Seekers of Truth. Then I just hung out in my room, staring pensively out at all the snow... Warning - 4K image behind the spoiler tag Good times.

Oh, and on the subject of the Western Approach...I'd always thought that banter wasn't supposed to fire there, because it is all a combat zone, or something. Is that right? Because I can't recall ever having banter there, but some fired tonight.
Between Viv and Blackwall - she was wondering about some...thing Bastien had owned and Blackwall knew what she was talking about and that surprised her, to which he replied that he hadn't always been a drifter.
So - is anyone else in the same boat? Is banter in the Approach just not something that is supposed to happen? Or have I been operating under a mistaken assumption and just finally - after 560 hours - got lucky tonight?

Went to the Forbidden Oasis with Cassandra, Solas, and Sera. (I skipped this whole region on my first playthrough, so I was exited to see a new part of Thedas. Then I found out it was just like the Western Approach. Oh well...) Collected all the shards and some loot, closed the rifts and set up the camps. Entered the temple, but of course didn't have enough shards yet to open more than one of the doors. The it was off to the Hinterlands to help Solas investigate an elven artifact that had something to do with the Veil. We dealt with some bandits on the East Road along the way, and afterwards took care of a camp of rebel Templars. We'll get to Redcliffe to meet with Fiona eventually, I'm sure. In the Forbidden Oasis, you do get to pick up some useful gear that provide elemental resistance that might be useful in dragon fights. If you find every shard, you'll get a belt that will be useful in Trespasser. Note, this is a location that's very useful for "farming" on many different levels. Prior to the battle of Haven, it's a good place to harvest a Tier 2 metal for crafting purposes (paragon's luster). Yeah, I grabbed as much loot and crafting materials as I could find. It's coming in handy now that I've acquired a few schematics. Back in the Hinterlands, the Herald, Cass, Solas and Sera cleared out the apostates in Witchwood. With the hideouts of both the rebel mages and rogue Templars now gone, the fighting should ease up and help make things easier for the refugees at the Crossroads. The party moved on to Redcliffe to meet with Fiona, only to find out that a Tevinter Magister, Alexius, had formed an "alliance" with the mages and was not in charge. He pretended to negotiate, but it obvious something wasn't right. The party ended up meeting in the Chantry with Alexius' son, Felix, and his former protege, Dorian, who told them that Alexius was messing with some dangerous time magic and they wanted to help stop him. The party returned to Haven to plan their next move.

I got stuff for sure from IB, Cass, and Dorian while there.

Banter is supposed to fire in all the zones (except Val Royeux), but I remember that a lot of people had problems triggering it in the Western Approach, so it might have gotten labeled as "Non-banter" zone by some. Guess it's a matter of luck and you got lucky I've gotten banter there as well, but I think it was at a lesser rate than the other areas in the game. So there is nothing wrong at least.

Iron Bull will talk about Giants and Dragons there, so he seems super talkative to me there. We saw a dragon, he spoke. Then we killed the giant, he was psyched about that. Then we go kill the Dragon. And e was like, "best day of my life. I love you boss."

Thanks, guys. Figured I must have had the wrong end of the stick. Just had only ever had location or situational based banter, like companions being angry about the deaths of the wagon drivers near the first camp etc.

Someone is always going to comment on those things. Don't think anyone was cut out of those. It was the normal banter that was iffy. Like Iron Bull talking about bananas or hot chocolate with Blackwall/Varric or Vivienne trash talking Blackwall. It can still trigger, but it's very finicky on when and where.

I'm sitting next to my mother in law, teaching her how to play DAI again. We gAve up on the controller and decided keyboard and mouse. She just signed Sera up for the Inquisition. She likes everything so far but battle. But on casual, the Companions mostly do it for her anyway. Next up, Vivienne. I wonder who she's going to fall in love with

Then I pulled up DA2 and brought Arkady Hawke through Sebastian's recruitment mission. Anders' grin when we caught Lord Harriman receiving felicitation- Anders, you perv. I'm playing a Qunari disliking demon hating Hawke, so we killed Allure right off the bat. That was more boring than trying to make a deal with her to be honest, which is what I did last time. And Sebastian is pray this pray that now so meh friendship path? ah well. At least he's pretty to look at. Edit Add: Husband walked in while I was talking to Seb. *squints* "What is that thing on his belt?" Me: *bursts out laughing*

Sorry, took a break from DA over easter, because I had my parents over and we visited my sister, very busy days. Plus next week is Magic Con and I had to get my costumes ready Now that I'm back, I'm planning abit more Inara and Lyana, I want to see the Sera - and Solas-romances. Lyana is about to to 'All new, faded for her' which should trigger some more romance related banter from Solas and Inara is taking Sera with her everywhere to get some more out. phoray I had some glitches with the Sera for humans outfit, so I installed a body mod, that gives human females Seras body, now it worked better. To be honest, I never really noticed the changes, I thought, Sera has a human body, but I guess there are differences. But I noticed, that with some armor, body features can change a bit

Oh god - I so hate the Exalted Plains. It's not, that the map is boring or ugly. It's quite interesting with all the stuff, civil war, undead (The Walking Dead - Thedas Edition ), the Dalish Clan, whom I like a lot etc. But I hate, that there is nearly no way to avoid killing a Halla or some other innocent bystander on four legs with all the enemies around. I think, I killed three Hallas in the last hour (luckily not the Golden Halla - or not, see following comments) - with my Dalish archer (ok, it was Solas, Cassandra and Dorian, who did the killing, but still, I feel guilty). And the Golden Halla quest: I hate it so much. That stupid creature just keeps running off in the wrong direction. I'm of a mind to just herd her to that rift and the demons nearby. I want to recruit Loranil, so I have to get that uncooperating creature to the camp, otherwise this could be the first Halla, I kill on purpose. Oh, plus, like some other maps, it's hard to find the quests sometimes because hills show up in all the wrong places. I wish, DAI would be truely open world in the sense, that you can overcome obstacles like hills etc. It's the reason, I left some stuff unfinished in recent playthroughs, because you have to find the operations, you have to unlock to move on to next part of the map. It means a lot of loading screens and mostly too much trouble.

If she's surrounded by wolves, it's close to impossible to save her! I chase her on horseback and if I can get her to reach the river that's usually enough. But what a lame quest! 2. Yes, it is annoying being stopped by obstacles Lara Croft could climb over! Magic Con? Are you going to dress like the characters from Harry Potter? Or more of a get-together of real magicians? You'll have to post pics!

I loved it in Morrowwind that you can go everywhere - and I mean everywhere. I think it's a general feature with the Elder Scrolls, but I only played Morrowind that much to test the everywhere part 3. Magic Con is a fantasy convention here in Germany. There are actors from different fandoms (even one non-fantasy one this year: Sherlock) like Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings... authors, workshops (like LARP fighting or how to make clothing look used and old), lectures about a lot of interesting stuff and a costume contest. Gaming isn't a big part of that con (we have the RPG Con in Cologne for that), but there are often costumes from games. I already saw a really great Witcher (the guy making that costume is a stuntman and show fighter, so he really can pull off the moves too), a male and female Shephard, a Morrigan, a Flemeth (from DA2/DAI with the really cool hair) and a Varric. I think there where some World of Warcraft ones, but I don't really recognise, what it was exactly since I never played WOW. I will have costumes from different fandoms: Lady Stark from GoT, Tonks from Harry Potter, Kaylee from Firefly (my favorite) and my new steampunk dress. I will try to make pictures and post them BTW: the Halla has reached the Dalish camp ... finally . Now I can help Josephine finding out, who killed her messenger. Oh - I had the second Solasmance related scene. For a guy that old, he really is a bit on the shy side, but it was a nice scene.

Solas is such a loaded character; a man who has regrets, a historical figure who can see the way he has been remembered -- and doesn't like it! It will definitely impact that final scene with him in Trespasser!

(Sadly, you never find out what she looks like under all the "ruffles." ) The culminating scene of the Sera romance is a bit lewd, but if you like Sera and negotiate the minefield to maintain favorability with her, it's okay.

Did you do all romances by now?

Though, I suppose, I should go back and do Sera and Josie just to see how those finish out on Trespasser. (For that matter, I should get back to Trespasser to see what happens with Blackwall.)

It's Josephine, I just started her romance, after Leliana gave me 'the speech' . I think, I'll do the Sera romance with Lia, it's a better fit, plus I think, she likes dwarves more than humans. Did you do all romances by now? I'm not inclined to do the Dorian romance. I may do IB with a female some day. All the other ones I've done. Though, I suppose, I should go back and do Sera and Josie just to see how those finish out on Trespasser. (For that matter, I should get back to Trespasser to see what happens with Blackwall.) I'm adamant to do the Dorian romance one day. I will even go against my rule and play a male for him. To be honest, he is the character, apart from Varric of course, I'd love romancing the most, unfortunately, I don't like playing male characters in video games (I have no problem playing a male in our pen & paper rounds though), so I have to really get myself convinced.

Interesting. I would think as a female gamer, you're stuck having to play as a male protagonist rather frequently whether you like it or not. The latest generation of games has improved greatly in that regard. (Which might explain the growth in the number of female players.) For myself (and many other male gamers), Lara Croft is responsible for making us take playing as female in stride! In fact, it's been a while since I've played any DA game as male. The last one was probably my human male mage who romanced Cassandra (when I played DAI through PS4).

In MMOs i know many guy, who play with female character, but only a few gamer girl, who play as male (I speak about main characters). This is interesting. I strongly prefer to play as male.

I like playing adventures too and there I have no problem playing Sherlock Holmes (one of my alltime favorite book characters), Gabriel Knight, Guybrush Threepwood, Rincewind or other male characters. But in RPGs I prefer playing women. And so far, the RPGs, that interested me, allowed me to play as a woman. I started with Baldurs Gate back in the days . Since I tend to put a lot of time in one game, I don't need a lot of new games. I just bought Dishonoured 2 (will play as Emily of course ), but haven't even installed it yet, because I'm still so focused with DAI. I played a bit Pillars of Eternity for the good old BG feeling, but I always come back to DA at the moment.

Bethany sends such a whiney passive aggressive letter as a Grey Warden that I am so close to just killing her off every time in the future. She's super boring as a Circle Mage, I thought this would be better. :/ Guess there is more to see yet with a Warden Bethany.
Took Seb, Varric, and Anders to the Tethras Mansion to see if that greedy dwarf had returned to Kirkwall like the rumors had said. But he'd gone nuts and killed everyone as if it was one of those Tevinter Horror Stories. Except Bartrand wasn't a mage, he was just crazy, and we never did find out why it was catching to the hired help. Anders used his magic to give Bartrand a lucid moment and Varric changed his mind about killing him. Arkady isn't particularly murderous or the angry type, so he concurred.
Although, personally, this is my 4th time seeing it and the guy begs to die. Considering he's just locked up in the loony bin come DAI and then never mentioned again, I kinda feel like death is a better outcome for him. Similar to Conner perhaps being better off dead.
Varric is now 100% friended, so I can stop bringing his crappy archery skills around. I'm fond of Varric ,but I don't love him as much as other folks do.

I said, that Grey Warden Bethany not too fun... As Circle Mage, she grows more, as Warden just becomes grumpy. (But why people wants to kill anyone just because s/he's boring? Also, Blackwall's biggest sin is boredom in many people's eyes.)
