He's interesting character, underrated, I think. Not my favorite, this is understandable, but still. MAKER, NO!! (Still, I got in his best graces, as I killed Anders He was not the Anders that I used to know... ) BTW. Starting a new DA:O playthrough... I'm striving to be more realistic here. Realistic as in "what type of decision will I have taken if I was there?". Is kinda hard because metagame, but I will try to be as not-metagame as possibly. As for the Warden, it will be the same: f/Tabris, maybe a rogue this time (although a two-handed Vigilance is making the warrior class too much tempting). Zevran as LI, for the first time in my playthroughs. Maybe forgiving Loghain and giving him the chance to redeem himself... Alistair as king, of course (I cannot kill Alistair on purpose, lol). He was, and not. He is different as Justice changes his behavior and makes him stronger. But he wasn't as a light-hearted funny boy even in the Awakening. And he is a good man in DA2 too. At Act3 he behaves as a normal man, who prepares some terrible thing. With this burden, naturally he can't smile sincerely anymore... but of course, you can explain with that was "the demon". Anders/Justice's great, the merging was a the best idea in this series.

I know... the true culprit is Justice—I mean, Vengeance, not Anders. Because Justice also died when fused. He turned into other thing, so its former self, the purpose of Justice, died at the time. Now was Vengeance. I was horrified when I learned it forced Anders to turn to cannibalism (in the short story).
Awakening Anders was also very vocal in his concerns for the mages even after he became a Grey Warden (he has interesting dialogues about it). I'm sure that, without Vengeance influence, he may have started the Mage-Templar on his own. But is highly probable that he will not have had to commit mass-murdering to do so.

He did not commit mass murder, it is motivated very differently. What Anders did is classified as propaganda by the deed, when all victims that are not the direct assassination target are regretted by the firebrand, rather than intended. He is anachronistic, but fairily accurate representation of certain ninteenth century ideas.

The Chantry's explosion didn't killed only Elthina (MAKER, NO!) and the people inside/near the Chantry. It also killed many innocents with the debris falling all over Kirkwall. Those are direct victims of Anders, even if they are collateral damage.
The rest? The mages, templars and civilians caught in the middle? Those are not his fault. I don't blame him for that.

The test is if the perpetrator is pissed or pleased that non-intended targets died. By the way Anders acts he regrets that anyone had to die at all, including Elthina. He certainly did not plan to inflict massive casualties. The game has I think three classic serial killers, and Anders is different from them. just try to remember, that blowing up the Death Star by the rebels caused hundreds of thousand casualties in slave and forced and just hired labor.

I'm sure that, without Vengeance influence, he may have started the Mage-Templar on his own. But is highly probable that he will not have had to commit mass-murdering to do so. That "cannibalism" can be explained as allegory. He wasn't a vampire, or zombie, or some kind monster, nor even Justice, this is a bullshit. We follow him for ~7 years, and never showed horroristic behavior. Only once happened, that he (almost) murdered an innocent girl (Ella), in the heat of the battle. Justice identified her as an enemy (she called him demon, as most of the Templars –just remember: Vivienne called Cole demon). If Justice (Anders) trust in Hawke (have enough approves), he retreats easily, so he don't want to kill an innocent girl, he killed her accidentally. He's dangerous, undeniable. Yes, you see well: Anders wanted this rebellion, but he doesn't have enough perseverance and determination. He has only his anger, and this is the cause, because of he think, that he turned Justice to Vengeance, but you saw any sign, that he was vengeful? Because I don't. Until that Meredith destroyed the Mage Underground and sent the request for Annulment, he searched for the peaceful path. This is NOT vengeance. He uses the tool, what he has for forcing the rebellion.

Hey All – it was a lovely evening at castle Cousland, I got to frolic with my mabari in the kitchens, hang with my brother before he left, and swore up and down to my father I was never ever (EVER!) going to join the Wardens. And what does the old man do? He throws me right into Duncan’s arms. Sigh.
I’m at Ostagar now. Just heard my brother’s lost in the wilderness (the idiot!). I collected Alistair, and them other two, told everyone to shut up and follow me into the Wilds. When I declared we’d be finding my brother first before collecting any Darkspawn blood, Alistair sniggered. I gave him the look but he just gave me that idiotic smile back.
This does not bode well. I’m really looking forward to beating the crap out of some wolf packs.

More DA2 adventures.
Hawkes and friends made it through the Deep Road. Well mostly, Bethany didn't make it *sniff*. She got the taint and had to be mercy-killed (thankfully the game blacked out). All that because Bertrand tried to kill us all to run off with the loot. I blame him for her death!
That all happened after the expedition found a strange Thaig and going by how there was no Dwarven Paragon statues but there was a bunch of elven artifacts and weird dragonish statues around. I don't think the place was Dwarven. There was also rock wraiths, crazy things that eat lyrium, shades and golems...but no darkspawns seems to have entered the place despite being everywhere earlier in the deep.
Jump to 3 years later. I got a new nice mansion in High Town now and everyone wants even more of my time for errands, err, I mean business.

Cleared out the Deep Roads of those nasty darkspawn. About ready to go deeper. Had some nice fried deepstalkers. They were gathered in a room, cast static cage and listen to them sizzle. Yum!

Sebastian is really, really attractive. But off limits, and maybe it’s not a bad thing, because a sincere and chaste nobleman-priest is something new as a character. I am hoping for a bit of a Jedi-like character, but we’ll see. His archery is great. I like the voice as well, which surprised me, because Suvi drives me to distraction. I am looking forward to playing through his story. If he is boring, well, what can you do. The game needs that too. Figure 1. So, that’s the most expensive guy in the whole game? And a Prince?! And here I am, dressed in shapeless gray rags. Good thing he is a priest, he might dig shapeless gray rags. Aside: still can't get used to how priests in DA2 are not an actual class. Unfortunately, as I was working through Sebastian’s recruitment quest & a selection of “while in the same area” thinggies, I triggered the while Fenris Act 2 avalanche all in one big lump. Figure 2. An artistic-angst pose, ‘cause the elves are so pretty in this part of DA. His quest, his romance and a break-up all in one go.... Figure 3. Fenris Questo-romancing avalanche in Act 2. Am still in gray rags. Uhm, great sword, Fenris? Now, I am stuck with waiting for four years for him to search his feelings. Honestly, if anybody understands what specifically he is that worried about… I am not sure. He seems not to want his memories back. I did not get a straight answer if it hurts him or not… anyway, perhaps, he’ll give me a more comprehensive answer in Act III. Figure 4. If I have to wait four years for the explanation, you’d better make it a good one, kid. Basically, since I am pretty much have nothing to get out of Fenris for the rest of this Act, I’ll swap for Avelinne the moment I get a decent one-handed anything. Apparently, I am friending Avelline, this time. I forgot that, but I checked when I checked her woeful gear. I’ve managed to get Isabela on the rivalry track by dragging her along Fenris’ quest, and Anders is almost a full rivalry, so now I just have to navigate through Dissent without aggravating Sebastian too too much, and not sweetening up Anders. Or, perhaps leave Dissent till I get Avelinne a decent weapon then start it with Avelinne and Sebastian in the party. I am sure we’ll have fireworks. Oh, I’ve also started Hawke on the Spirit Healer pass, so Anders is going to step down for Merrill after Dissent. That's if I can friend her, and Sebastian at the same time. Or rival Isabela and friend her at the same time. Yep. DA2, the Saga of Complicated Relationships....

I reloaded an old save file just to explore dialogue options. So I had my Dalish Warden tell Duncan "You can't make me serve against my will!", to which replied "I will drag you kicking and screaming, if I must." That cheeky bastard!

*The Fereldan Coalition amasses outside Denerim while the darkspawn put the population to the sword*
Warden Tabris: Oh, boy. Today's the day. Time to break some darkspawn bones and kick the Archdemon's ass, cuz it's this the last battle, baby. Now, let's....
(Hears Anora's speech)
Warden Tabris: ...
*Urthemiel appears in the sky*
Urthemiel: Warden, can we fight another day? That awful speech just ruined the mood. I've lost my interest in the Blight for today.
Warden Tabris: Sure, right. Next week, perhaps?
I'm finding recruiting Loghain into the Wardens extremely difficult... Its not worth hearing that awful speech.

Finished reading the Last Flight. So my mind was with Dragon age today. Did prod DA2 a bit yesterday, messing around with morphs and such. But Callah did advance a little in her story, with the help of Meredith, Killer Bird and Sebastians severed head. Aveline was there too.

Freaked out a little bit when Fenris leaves Hawke after their angry-sex. Thought I messed up something in the romance, especially due to how notoriously buggy Fenris' romance can be (like if you hire the elf servant instead of just giving her money and let her leave), and especially because I didn't see the red wristband on Fenris that indicates a successful romance (though that might have to do with the Companion Redesigned mod changing his appearance). I did flirt with Anders ONE time during Act 1, but it probably wasn't an issue, because you'd need to have slept with Anders in order to be locked into his romance, so I heard. Anyway, I did a little digging, and it turns out Fenris' romance scene ends like that regardless of what you choose, so it wasn't me messing up on my part. Still worried, I used the "zz_dae_debug" command to jump to Act 3 to see if the romance is still available or if it's ended permanently. It is still available then, but considering it's only available after I ran the debug, I don't know how reliable that result is. Oh well. I'll just have to suck it up and cross my fingers, hoping for the best. The funny thing is, I've romanced Fenris with Hawke before back then. He's probably the only romance option I ever picked. lol So it's kinda embarrassing I couldn't remember how the romance was supposed to end up in Act 2. I just hope it's just me thinking too much, just my anxieties fueling my paranoia. I would really hate to end the game only to find out Hawke's been friendzoned... :gasp:

ryderflynn As long as you don't hook up with anyone else in the meantime, you can get back together with Fenris in Act 3. Do his Act 3 quest and Questioning Beliefs and you should be at or close to 100% F/R with him.
