Freaked out a little bit when Fenris leaves Hawke after their angry-sex. Thought I messed up something in the romance, especially due to how notoriously buggy Fenris' romance can be (like if you hire the elf servant instead of just giving her money and let her leave), and especially because I didn't see the red wristband on Fenris that indicates a successful romance (though that might have to do with the Companion Redesigned mod changing his appearance). I did flirt with Anders ONE time during Act 1, but it probably wasn't an issue, because you'd need to have slept with Anders in order to be locked into his romance, so I heard. Anyway, I did a little digging, and it turns out Fenris' romance scene ends like that regardless of what you choose, so it wasn't me messing up on my part. Still worried, I used the "zz_dae_debug" command to jump to Act 3 to see if the romance is still available or if it's ended permanently. It is still available then, but considering it's only available after I ran the debug, I don't know how reliable that result is. Oh well. I'll just have to suck it up and cross my fingers, hoping for the best. The funny thing is, I've romanced Fenris with Hawke before back then. He's probably the only romance option I ever picked. lol So it's kinda embarrassing I couldn't remember how the romance was supposed to end up in Act 2. I just hope it's just me thinking too much, just my anxieties fueling my paranoia. I would really hate to end the game only to find out Hawke's been friendzoned... :gasp: He's problematic lover, but worth it. You can only get happy end and fulfilled love, if Hawke on 100% rivalry/friendship. He needs to trust Hawke, but after, he able to do anything for Hawke.

Hi folks. It’s been a few weeks since I played DA, ‘cause Andromeda, but I finally felt it was time to get back to Hawke’s run. My forum handle used to be domi, in case my characters look vaguely familiar. Hi, welcome back.

He's problematic lover, but worth it. Most definitely. The "Rivalmance" love scene didn't end up like I expected (the one that I saw on YouTube was Hawke saying "Shut up", and then proceed to make out with Fenris), because mine isn't the aggressive Hawke. But the sarcastic Hawke Rivalmance scene was nice as well, a mix of tenderness and sizzle (she turned him around, he pushed her against the wall, they make out). I'm one of those guys who's a sucker for romance with conflict like this. It just feels a lot more cuter, two polar opposites who end up falling in love with each other anyway. The romance scene in Act 3 makes it all the more worthwhile, but that's for another day. You can only get happy end and fulfilled love, if Hawke on 100% rivalry/friendship. He needs to trust Hawke, but after, he able to do anything for Hawke. 100% rivalry for Fenris was the easiest to achieve for me compared to the others (even Carver still didn't reach 100% Rivalry before Act 2 started, unfortunately). I don't know what that says about Hawke's relationship with him compared to the others... :poker: Edit: By the way, something I noticed is that Fenris looks a lot angrier bald than with that emo-hair covering his brows. You could really see all that frustration and savagery in his expression without the hair.

Surprisingly I found the rivalry a bit harder with him, than the friendship, the Act 2 a hard point in rivalry, at Hadriana Hawke got 10000000 friendship, even if send him to the void with his mage hatred... Now I'm on +friendship with him (Act 1), despite that I was at Gallows with him, and said, that he's wrong about the Circles. I done rivalry and friendship with him as well, and was better the rivalry at the end, yes. And more believable with pro-mage Hawke.

To be clear, I only achieved 100% rivalry following the Dragon Age wiki's guide... And even then, it was difficult for me to achieve 100% approval for other companions as well because in a lot of quests, you either get +positive approval with either one companion or the other; can't have both in a lot of cases, especially when it comes to Fenris and Anders being together. As for the Gallows, it seems that merely saying "The Circle doesn't work" only earns you +5 Rivalry, whereas with me, what I did was outright saying that "It's wrong to oppress mages like me, you fool!" +15 Rivalry, straight away.

Took Torpor's offer in the Fade... Okay, this was a tough dilemma for me. I didn't expect to hesitate with the kind of moral-decisions in DA2 because most of them prior to Act 2 were pretty clear-cut - profit is good, while nasty demons, corrupted mages, and heartless slavers and thugs that try to hurt the innocents are bad. I didn't set out to create yet another ruthless pragmatist after all (Shepard, the Warden, etc.). But when it came to the Fade mission in Night Terrors, I saw a very rich roleplaying opportunity here for a flawed Hawke who might have given in to temptation. It's inevitable, and I can't help but pick this path, because I love flawed characters that might (or might not) gain redemption later. And I did make a deal with the demon back in the Deep Roads earlier in Act 1, just to play around with the idea of a mage-Hawke that might give into temptations at times, but that particular roleplay decision wasn't anything serious... until now, when 6 bonus attribute points ("I want power!") and the life of an innocent boy (AKA CONNOR 2.0!!!) are on the line. SIX attribute points. That was a salivating offer that was hard to refuse. Unfortunately, Anders was in the party... I didn't expect Torpor's deal to be this tempting. For what it's worth, she did regret the decision after returning to the moral realm, admitting that it was her who was weak. Also, I'm glad that I took Merrill along. She got tempted as well, much like Maximus Hawke. And appropriately enough, she also practices blood magic like Max. When she apologized to Max later on... boy, Max's heart was very heavy at that point, for she felt like staring in a reflection of her, for she was no better than Merrill either. "Mages give into temptations" indeed. This will be a traumatic turning point for Max, perhaps even convincing her that tranquility isn't that bad. God, I love the character development in this! It's been such a long time since I've played DA2 that I forgot all about this decision. But man, DA2 has finally become more engaging and fun in terms of roleplaying, as prior to this, I was still on the fence about what kind of Hawke I would want to play and merely went for a generic sarcastic scoundrel of a mage. Perhaps it's poetic that I had my Warden killed Connor (albeit making Isolde do it) as well, albeit not as intentionally as Max when making the decision. Also, Anders' conversation with Max later on really resembles the one Alistair had with the Warden after the Redcliffe affair. Both berated them harshly and made them think on their morality. Oh, it's so heartbreaking. :sob:

ryderflynn yep, this decision just a few days ago what actually finally made my second PT of DA2 feel different from the first. 6 points were nice. Won't do it again though, if I ever get that far, 'cause Anders. I’ve just been browsing for (practically non-existent) info on Sebastian’s story-arcs and romance. Yep, that’s a reflection on how my game went. Wow, he is nice to Fenris, he is nice to Merrill, he’s nice to Anders, basically he takes all these skeptical drama queens in the face and just… manages. What a guy. To bad it takes a separate PT to romance him, so I can totally see a Jedi Knight 2H Warrior sort of character to do it. Figure 1. Oh, Sebastian! How I wish I did not romance anyone before I met you! And, nope, that's not the best set stats' wise for Blaze, but I am so tired of mage's rags in this game... What I actually did was start was finishing Anders’ Act 2 arc with fully rivaling poor guy. Catilina is right, it absolutely heart wrenching. I still got heart options in his Questioning Believes, so I picked the one that was agreeing to disagree, and hopefully it does not stop A3 Fenris’ romance, as Anders’ has officially broke up with Blaze eons ago. After which, to keep it in-character, I waved Anders a secretly affectionate good-buy, left him in his clinic, and added Merril. I dunno what Merrill is drinking, but in a comp of Fenris, Merrill and Sebastian spawns basically melt. I think it is a combo of making stuff brittle, with a bunch of control spells between Blaze and Merrill and Fenris’ AoE attacks. Then I did the tour of three nearly identical mansions (down to the sack of goodies in the side room). The Guy’s one while chasing the serial murderer of elderly ladies, Sebastian’s nemesis estate and Bertrand’s house. I had to double-check I was in the right place when I started Seb’s quest, the mansion was so similar. The quest itself was rather entertaining, if frequently buggy – most of the cutscenes won’t trigger without ESC the first line and some creatures got stuck when we got to that basement. Figure 2. The Buggiest Quest in the Game, but well, the game did not crush, so all good.
Sebastian reminds me Nathaniel rather strongly, so he is absolutely my favorite rogue now. So glad I bought the DLC!
AND it gave me the sword for Aveline!!! So, I picked up Aveline and we started on the Longest Road. Well, if Blaze did not get to see a happy ending with Fenris, then at least Aveline would. I will be playing the rest of Act 2 with Aveline as the tank, give Fenris time to think over our relationship or something.
As for the rest, my best efforts so far only kept Varric undecided. My last chance to get the measly rivalry points is during the wrap up of Hawke’s family Quest, and if that doesn’t get him to Rival enough to get the gift moving him there, that’s pretty much where he’s gonna stay.
Merrill… I guess I was too late to take her on? Her quest is not triggering so… yeah. I guess she won’t care one way or another.
So, what I have left now from the Quest list is catching up with Emeril for Hawke’s Family Quest, Aveline + Donnic = Love Patrol and sweeping through Sundermount for Merrill’s upgrades and Herbalist’s stuff.
Then, I guess, I can return to the Qunari subplot and, perhaps Isabela’s storyline will play out there.

@carefull I just came from an ambient conversation between Aveline and Seb about how he does whatever it takes to take back "what is rightfully his", ala his Starkhaven title. So I'm still reserved about just how pure the royal prince really is for now. Edit: Okay, never mind. He added Wesley's name to the Chantry memorial. That's good enough for me.

@carefull I'm glad you're not regretting buying this DLC Interestig take on Sebastian. I admit, my first impression of him differed from yours (and didn't change much since then). ryderflynn I love banter between Aveline and Sebastian Over the course of playing SWTOR, I really become a fan of real Jedi, not the exceptional, rebellious ones, that are easy to relate to, blah-blah, blah... but truly spiritual and compassionate ones, the kind that maybe were like Catholic priests who held back the emo aggressive might-is-right warlords of the tenth or so century armed with nothing but fear of afterlife. As a human being, it is extremely easy to understand anyone who is passionate, makes decisions based on their own desires, fears, passions etc, the power is seductive, the mighty warriors who swing huge swords and laugh at lamentations of their women are uber-cool... But a spiritual person who actually capable of experiencing non-partisan compassion, and being able to check their own emotions, disengage from the search for immediate gratification, well, that's not sexy or easy to relate to, but, well, it's rather more unusual and interesting for me. Not that Sebastian is exactly like that, but I still find him one hell of a rogue concept. Wish he was in the game from the get go.
Too bad you have to play a F!Hawke to see his romantic content & I can't find any information as to how much of the flirts are even there, as his quests are rather light on having actual background/personal chats with him so far.

Ran the zz_dae_debug command just to switch in Varric for a comment I had missed in the quest, "Dissent". You probably know which comment:
Ser Alrik the Arse of a Templer: "Who's this?" Varric: "It's the Divine, come all the way from Orlais to tell you personally what a jackass you are."
Snark level > Hawke's :heh:

There is really not much to Seb's romance, unfortunately. And you can't flirt with anyone else either. I romanced him with an aggressive warrior Hawke who I ended up hating so much I skipped the other DLCs. I would recommend rivalmance, though, which pushes him to taking back Starkhaven rather than staying in the Chantry. Also, side with the Templars at the end so you get named Viscount(ess).

Hey All - I was mocked by a witch today. Then she took us to meet her crazy mother. Alistair completely freaked out. Things only went downhill from there. That thieving quartermaster wouldn’t open his special stocks for me, even after I traded him Ser Jory’s armor. I feel a little bad about that because later that armor-less man got skewered when he refused a drink. Duncan is a bloody murderer! I was so shocked I forgot to protest when he next shoved that vile drought down my own throat. I woke up hours later with Alistair grinning over me. Maker’s balls! What is wrong with these people?!
Packed up all my stuff. My brother had the right idea.

One thing I have to wonder about Inquisition... if your Hawke makes a cameo, and you're allowed to customize him/her, why not do the same for the Warden? I know it has something to do with the massive amount of varieties in the Warden's decisions, making it impossible to import the character directly, but why not just a cameo? I wouldn't mind seeing the Warden I had designed in Origins "upgraded" with Inquisition graphics.

I know it has something to do with the massive amount of varieties in the Warden's decisions, making it impossible to import the character directly, but why not just a cameo? I wouldn't mind seeing the Warden I had designed in Origins "upgraded" with Inquisition graphics. Some of the issues I see with potential Warden cameo: - Voice/tone of Warden. Warden is silent protagonist with many voice/tone options. So first, they would need to get at least all VA, because doubt people wouldn't complain. Tone is another matter, because while you pick a base, you pretty much need to imagine how your Warden says things, what kind of emotion they put into their statements and how strong those are. In DAI they'd need to settle for one manner of speaking, which once again would piss people off. - As you mentioned, decisions. One of the biggest is Warden's fate. If Warden made cameo in DAI, it would pretty much mean they're rewarding/throwing a bone to those that did DR or got Loghain/Alistair to do US. They would either need to create different cameo for those with dead Warden or just skip it. Neither of these options is good. - And to not get too overboard with points, this will be last one. Hawke's cameo. Yeah. Hawke's way more defined protagonist than Warden and even with this cameo they managed to piss off as many people as they managed to make happy. Include me among pissed off. And Hawke, from what I gathered, is less loved than Warden. Can't imagine "that's-not-my-Warden!" outrage.

Yeah, that explains it. I was just wondering, since Hawke got special treatment over the Warden, and I had wondered what the reason was. Oh well. What a mess though. Unlike Mass Effect with one consistent protagonist, you've got three, one of whom the developers had their hands tied in importing, and another fans were pissed about being able to import into Inquisition. Yeesh.

Today was a momentous day for me: after an enforced break due to my desktop being borked, I was able to borrow a friend's gaming laptop and finish off my current run. That means that I've completed all eight world states that I had set up in the Keep before DAI came out, and finished all of the romances.
I was in a hurry (need to return the laptop tomorrow) so I played on Normal through the second half of The Descent and Trespasser. I think Artificier might be my favourite DAI specialization - if there wasn't such a solid roleplaying reason for my 'canon' Inquisitor to be an Assassin instead, I'd seriously consider switching her when I play her again. Also, I finally decided that Ben-Hasrath agents were my favourite things to kill with elemental grenades and spike traps. I enjoyed playing Carathir Lavellan a lot, although I wish there'd been an option for 'I knew the gods weren't real all along!' for the Dalish non-believers. I liked the bittersweet ending of the Cassandra romance if she becomes Divine, though.
I'm planning to take a long break from Dragon Age at this point, although I do plan to do a repeat run of all three games at some point before DA4 comes out, as well as a replay of my 'canon' Inquisitor. It looks like I've got all the time in the world, though, so it's time to continue with my project of getting through my whole cRPG backlog by the time DA4 comes out. (Not as crazy as it might sound, as I've got it down to less than a dozen games now.) We'll see how long I can stand being away from Thedas ...

Too bad you have to play a F!Hawke to see his romantic content & I can't find any information as to how much of the flirts are even there, as his quests are rather light on having actual background/personal chats with him so far. I've read up on all that. The not flirting with anyone else part would not bother me, if he had more dialogues when romanced than the other characters. But if he just has what he has non-romanced with flirts in them and the marriage proposal in the end, that's not really worth a PT. What I can't find is one of those nice write-ups that tell you how many scenes an LI gets and when/under which conditions.
Rascoth And, yep, I would go rival path, because Prince of Starkheaven sounds nice. He's dressed for it anyway.

Let's say certain type of Hawke got especially butchered, turned into incredible hypocrite.

But the first time I got there, I thought just importing my DA2 will give me my Hawke, but instead this total stranger showed up... well, I should have paid attention to what Catilina was saying: He DEFAULTS to this diplomatic guy. Once I edited DAK, he was recognizable right down to his armor set.
