Yeah, that explains it. I was just wondering, since Hawke got special treatment over the Warden, and I had wondered what the reason was. Oh well. What a mess though. Unlike Mass Effect with one consistent protagonist, you've got three, one of whom the developers had their hands tied in importing, and another fans were pissed about being able to import into Inquisition. Yeesh. Well, we have what we have *shrugs* I don't think it's about Hawke having cameo per se (I was excited for it when I learned about it), but how it actually went. Also... Let's say certain type of Hawke got especially butchered, turned into incredible hypocrite. Please don't let it be Mage-Hawke. Please don't let it be Mage-Hawke. :sob: Or worse, Sarcastic Hawke turned diplomatic. Yuck.

No, mage Hawke was ok, I think some people weren't happy with blood mage Hawke ( Catilina - I think one of them was you, maybe you could explain it). I was pretty happy with my imported Hawkes, I imported rogues and mages so far, who romanced Fenris, Isabella and Anders, all was well. The sarcastic tones were there (I mostly play sarcastic Hawkes). @carefull Glad you like Sebastian, he is not my cup of tea, as I stated, but the cast of DA2 is great and there are companions for every play style imo. I'm an old KOTOR player too and I always wished, I could have stayed smuggler - my favorite Stwar Wars profession (never warmed up to Jedi or Sith as playing characters, not in KOTOR or SWTOR or pen & paper). But I get, that as a classical jedi fan, Sebastian is the logical choice as a companion I myself did not much in the DA universe yesterday or today. I was busy with taking walks in the woods, because we had finally some nice sunny days and I'm doing a Farscape rewatch at the moment. There is one character, that reminds me a lot of Cole: Stark. He is a strongly empathic alien, who has a unique way to help people too (not always successful, but like Cole, he has a learning curve)

Not to spoiler it too much, but blood mage suddenly going on a rant about blood magic never being worth it or generally showing dislike of blood magic/blood mages felt really ooc. Thb, I wasn't happy with diplomatic/sarcastic/aggresive representation either. For me they felt... really watered down.

I was out all night yesterday too cultivating my patch of the unyielding harsh prairie into my personal version of Paradise so all I did was Aveline's Longer Road (well, I was trying to patch and re-mod Andromeda too, but that did not go well, so... ) The weekend is rainy though, so I am sort of seeing myself finishing DA2 or coming very close to it. I am a bit rushing now, as I am starting to miss Vasco Ryder like crazy, and the patch is now here, so...
Anyway... good gaming, folks!

Not to spoiler it too much, but blood mage suddenly going on a rant about blood magic never being worth it or generally showing dislike of blood magic/blood mages felt really ooc. To be fair, that sounds perfect in line with how my Hawke would react. Maximus merely tried out blood magic for the kicks as a rebellious act (and the desire to experiment with her powers), but after one incident (tempted by Torpor to sacrifice Connor Feynriel for power) and another (losing her mother to blood magic), and yet another (losing her kindred mage-friend, Anders, in the Mage/Templar war), it was just too much for her. She even refrained from giving Merrill the Arulin'holm in Act 2 because she didn't want her to tread down the same path as she did, especially after seeing how she was easily tempted by Wryme. I could easily see this particular Hawke showing remorse and resentment for blood magic, much like Anders did (Anders could become a blood mage in Awakening too if you allowed it, after all). And personally, I think it makes for quite an engaging storyline, treating blood magic like drug abuse. That being said, I don't want to presume anything till I've played Inquisition. I hope it's a good rant, as it feels like it has the potential for an interesting character development, but I'll hold my reservations for now.

Lyana did find out, that the mayor of Crestwood flooded Old Crestwood and killed the refugees. After that shocking news, she and her friends went to look for warden Loghain and found him in a cave nearby. He told her about a ritual, that is about to take place and should be stopped. On their way back, the group found a dead inquisition spy. When telling Charter, she says, that they must have a spy in their ranks, since not many people knew about the dead guys assignment. On their way back from Crestwood, Lyana and friends took a detour to Orlais, to help Josephine in her qeust to earn the DuParaquettes nobility. My Hawke - she is from a game save that no longer exists, an Anders -romancing rogue, who sided with the mages - I think, she was the first character, I finished DA2 with

I'm planning to take a long break from Dragon Age at this point, although I do plan to do a repeat run of all three games at some point before DA4 comes out, as well as a replay of my 'canon' Inquisitor. It looks like I've got all the time in the world, though, so it's time to continue with my project of getting through my whole cRPG backlog by the time DA4 comes out. (Not as crazy as it might sound, as I've got it down to less than a dozen games now.) We'll see how long I can stand being away from Thedas ... Wow, I wish I only had a dozen games in my backlog. I've got so many I can't even remember them all. Stupid Steam and GOG sales.....they make it way too easy.

Hey All – a Lothering farmer kept accosting me today. Traps, she raved, traps, traps, TRAPS! Crap on crackers, poisoned ones to boot. I laughed in her face and told Alistair to handle it. Made him look like a total dufus. Dog got to stake out his territory. I hope the tree survives. Later I beat up a couple of Loghain’s goons. I wanted to tell them I agreed with the decision at Ostagar but none in my party looked like they’d approve. I found a man in a cage outside the village. I picked the lock and made him my slave.
Yeah!
All in all, a good day.

Had a really tough fight against Corypheus. I hate this kind of boss battle where your stats mean nothing. Had a lot of trouble maneuvering through the maze... so I kinda cheated. Killed the shades using console command, but took care of Corypheus' remaining health manually. Toughest fight in the entire game, period.

Have you fought Malvernis and his legion of skeleton archers? That's a tougher fight.
Also difficult: in Act 2, the nexus golem guardians.
The Cory fight is tedious and micromanage-y. I tend to have more problems doing too much damage too soon (esp. with assassin/shadow Hawke) so the sequence bugs out and I have to start over.
Note: I play on Normal difficulty.

lol You what? I played on Hard and Malvernis was a breeze compared to Cory. Having two mages to heal each other helped a lot. Not so much when you're too busy micromanaging, running away from spirals of flames through obstacles of rocks that are barricaded with freaking electric bolts! What the actual heck were they thinking?! LOL Varric was funny though, speaking my mind when he said, "If he pulls out a dragon from his ass, I'm leaving!" Playing a mage-Hawke has its own issues sometimes. I couldn't kill the shades fast enough, and I didn't bring anyone who could do enough damage. Probably should've controlled Varric instead of Hawke, as Bianca can hit quite hard.

I had better luck vs Malvernis and his cronies as an archer - ranged attack + massive damage - than as a mage (healing, yay, but not enough punch).
For Cory, I select all and drag them all around the circle 500 times until all the shades are down. I know the elemental attacks do a lot more damage on higher difficulties though.

Got through act 1 on my mage hawke. Carver went off to join the wardens, best outcome for him I think. Then after settling in the new estate, got caught up with all my crew and got to know Isabela alot better.
Now off to look into the series of murders for Aveline.

Only eleven of them are cPRGs, though! So at least I have hope of clearing that part of the endless list in the next few years. Most of the rest are point-and-click adventure games, because Steam and GOG frequently sell those for a buck or two during sales and I have no willpower.

One of the easiest way I found for Cory is - if you're Spirit Healer and have Anders with you as well - to activate both their sustained healing skills. If you put enough points there, constant healing should be enough to not care about flames, so you should be able to deal with Shades without worry. PS. That Varric's comment gets reaaaaally funny later

Doing Anders' "Justice" quest, and he got a bit jelly on me when I brought along Fenris. The love-triangle came to a head when he asked why I chose that "wild dog" with the massive chip on his shoulder. Naturally, Maximus defended him, going for the "You just don't know him" cliche. lol Cheesy, but romantic IMO. Fenris is like a cute little puppy she wanted to protect, tbh. Anyway, this whole Anders vs. Fenris romance totally reminds me of the Buffy x Angel/Buffy x Spike shipping, the light vs. the dark side of relationships. Ironically, I would probably have been on Team Angel.

What Anders says, that shows, what is Anders (a man, whom a bad experience determines whole life), and from what he afraid (wild dog: uncontrollable abomination). There is Merrill version too, and I found interesting as well. This version also about Anders himself. At least according to my interpretation...

(While in Sundermount...) Terath: "You do not belong here, shemlen." Max Hawke: "What about my- Dear Maker, where did my self-righteousness and pointy ears go?" Snark Hawke never ceases to surprise me with her burns.

Wow, I am envious of the folks that have a long line-up of games to play.
After I finish up this run of DA2 and my Vasco Ryder’s story I am waiting for Tyranny to go on summer sale and that’s it for now. I was also sort of wondering if I want to give a shot to a couple of DA:O DLCs I have not played yet, the one where you play as a Darkspawn (I hope it’s funny) and the Morrigan-stabbing one.
With Blaze, I have done fighting Shades that killed poor Emiril in the Missing Women investigation, and advanced Qunari’s subplot one step further (along with seeing to Aveline’s happiness) and that started up Merrill’s Act 2 Arc. Just in case Sebastian & Aveline might have qualms about happily agreeing to give all the dangerous toys to the girl who plays with blood magic, I replaced them with Fenris (who will now eat anything), and Isabela (whose opinion doesn’t matter). Got to see Isabela-Merrill’s sis-mance for my efforts, and finished collecting Merrill’s gear upgrades.
To my complete surprise, Merrill showed up in Hawke’s mansion, all a-swoon, probably all those talks with Isabela about lonely sailors. I don’t remember flirting with her for the entirety of Act 2, but I guess one or two compliments is all it takes. Blaze is pining for Fenris, so I left all of the Merrill’s gifts for Ebon. He will have a field day, starting with a whore and finishing with a maiden.
Figure 1. Blaze’s Company: Three Girls and a Chaste Priest. In any other game the PC would be out of luck, heh.
Next game sessions starts with going to the Hanging Man to investigate the bribed city guards. Then, I hope to finally see the part where I can hand Isabela over to Arishok! Blaze’s PT is probably going to get completed. She is the kind of Hawke I can leave in the Fade, so that prompted a concept for an Inquisitor I can dig & romance Cullen at the same time. But the CC in Inquisition being what it is, I don’t know if it can give me a woman I want to create. I think I will give a shot to setting up the DAK for the storyline I want: Clarel (head-canoned as the Commander that gets killed in Inquisition), the romanced Warden Alistair; Blaze as Anders’ killing insane mage who romanced Fenris; and the female archer that I tentatively tagged Rascal for now. I like the backstory set-up with all the angst, drama and betrayal, but I cannot say if I can play Inquisition one more time, even if I cut out three companions to keep cast/cast errands to a minimum, and do different areas this time (since that’s the only thing Inquisition offers in droves).

First order of business: trying to get Cheat Engine texture swapping to work so I can make a beefed-up Dreamweaver Staff. XP

As my gaming group is taking a holiday on D&D (we are waiting for a book that will arrive in July or August), and we didn't knew what to do on saturday nights, I proposed to play a Dragon Age campaign, and my friends accepted. I'm wondering which point of the timeline will be appropriate to start... maybe the Fifth Blight?
Nonetheless, I'm doing a game-state of sorts for this campaign. Filling up dates and the "order of events", and that kind of stuff. The Dragon Age Keep is useful for this sort of thing. I was about to use my "prime canon", but ended up doing a world-state with mage heroes (the three of them are mages).
