I can't tell if I'm a little burnt out on Dragon Age or if Orzamaar is far too long of a quest for my 4th non dwarf Warden. I just know I don't feel like playing that Quest at all. I'd like to just slam a crown on one and leave. I think the only thing I was looking forward to was the Provings, then I realized I picked a Mage and Surana won't get to fight in it, just like Surana won't be allowed to duel Loghain later.

What? Your class doesn't matter for either of those battles. Or is that just an RP choice?

What?! How would it NOT matter in a world where Magic is feared as being OP? I've never played an Origins Mage, so I assumed there would be a line about how I would have to choose another champion.

They see you as a Warden, not a mage. Also, Al almost always loses the duel when I use him....

Yes, they are player-controlled, but Al's abilities aren't the greatest, imo, and changing to fight as a warrior after playing a mage or rogue all game is tough. The DPS goes waaaaay down.

Depending on your build, a Mage can be a lot of fun against Loghain. Curse of Mortality combined with Crushing Prison is *almost* an "I win" button. Watching him writhe in the Thedosian version of Force choke is very satisfying.

That's interesting. I always found this fight toughest when using a rogue. In fact, my first rogue gave up after a dozen attempts and just told Alistair to go at it. Do you spec Alistair primarily S&S, or Templar, or bit of a mix?

Do you spec Alistair primarily S&S, or Templar, or bit of a mix? I do both, and I usually have all his talents spec'd by that point in the game. It's just that cool-downs on Warrior abilities are fairly long, and there aren't that many active ones to choose from to begin with. Plus the animation is so slooooow. Rogue and Mage are both faster, have a wider selection of abilities to throw out, and they usually do more damage as well. I have managed to succeed with Alistair one time so he could auto-execute Loghain, but I much prefer using my Warden.

Learned to my dismay that the male version of the High Keeper robes has a shirt over the chest window. Always tought it was the male answer to Samara's armor in Mass Effect. As a result, Solas got a lot less weird. Same with the Keeper in the Exalted Plains. Which is the area Hamin spent the evening at. Burned all the corpses, got some Dalish favors and killed many, many wolves. Good times.

Finally decided to start my DA2 import from Diana's US game. I'm playing a male rogue archer, Nathan Hawke. I named him Nathan since he kind of looked like a poor imitation of Nathan Fillion in the CC and also because Nathaniel Howe won't be in this game (which would have been confusing). I've played rogue numerous times but never an archer except when controlling Varric or Sebastian, so we'll see how it goes. I kind of want to play all 3 games as archer just because. Here's Nathan in the CC: I normally take the smuggler route to get into Kirkwall and was intending to this time as well, but I picked the wrong dialogue option when speaking with Friedrich so he and his goons ended up attacking. Oops. So, Nathan joined the Red Iron for a year. I also ended up with 5 gold instead of the 2 I was going for, so yay for screwing up. I'm planning on an Anders romance this time. Why, I don't know. Guess I thought it was time to do it again after so long since the first (and only) one I did before. As a result, Nathan went to meet him early on. Will be doing Tranquility sooner than normal also. Just need to switch the map to night mode.

Knocked out Wicked Eyes this weekend. I meant to reunite Celene and Briala, but at the end of the conversation kind of...forgot...to ask Celene about Briala's reward. Which is pretty in-line with all of this Inquisitor's decisions to date: best of intentions, complete lack of follow-through. I did get a jester out of the whole mess, at least. Also went and tackled the Ferelden Frostback for Trial of the Empress, and got my first real taste of the sheer ridiculousness of the Knight Enchanter.

I think crafting a Warden that would do the Ultimate Sacrifice has depressed me. She has no interest in reforming the Circle, only being away from it. Her dream of returning home to her people was burned to ashes when the clan in the Brecillian Forest treated her like trash. Jowan, her adopted Circle Brother, she sent away so he would be safe. The one person she fell in love with, Zevran, just wants FWB. She had considered hedge magery, but between the Mad Mage's insanity and Morrigan's completely unpleasant personality, she doesn't see that outcome going very well either. She does not want to be bound to another organization that forces her to serve others over her own desires, the Grey Wardens. Surana does feel responsibility for saving Fereldan from the Blight, so it's not like she doesn't care. She's just lost, because she's trying to see a future, past the Blight, and she can't see one at all.
I should just hurry up and get this RP over with, huh? How does anyone do a happy play through with a Warden that would do the Ultimate Sacrifice?

Either a Dwarven Noble (who I RPd as not being able to go home because of reasons...pretty weak) or better - a Dalish elf. I head canoned that because he was tainted before the Joining that he had very little time left, even when compared to other Wardens. Easy out. No pain, his friend Alistair gets to be king, good times. He goes to his death knowing that everything in Ferelden will be just fine for a really, really long time after this....

The US ending is a good ending for all those players who dislike headcanons or to be wandering ghosts in DAI and forever.I never considered it as sad, these people don't exist so any death is fake,I'm more sad when my hamster is angry than when my wearden "died".I used first Loghain to see his funeral(but there was no funeral)so i decided to use my warden to unlock it.

What I'm doing is contemplating whether to go with Assassin or Tempest as my specialization. My playthrough has grinded to a halt due to this. Thoughts on which I should choose? Is Thousand Cuts still a one-hit dragon-slaying ability?

The Warden being on the search for the Cure bothers a lot of people, but it bothers me not at all. And I suppose I was complaining tongue jn cheek. I've created my own problem that I could easily solve by just not caring. But if I stopped caring about my Role Playing, than I'd probably just stop playing and watch YouTube clips of my favorite scenes and call it good. I've played two Wardens who desperately wanted to live and get their "happy ending." I wanted a Warden who would do the Ultimate Sacrifice for the new RP experience. But apparently, the way my brain has written this is that only a Warden who has no happy ending waiting for them is the type to do the US. That's my writing problem, I'm just bummed a bit about the head state.

I played Tempest once but didn't really like it much. I don't feel that the flasks are active long enough to actually accomplish much of anything. For the most part I just used my regular archer skills. Also, when I take control of Sera to get her to use TC, it's real hit or miss. Half the time it doesn't trigger properly so I have to select it again.
I like the crazy damage that Mark of Death allows, but since Hidden Blades is available as a masterwork, I don't really see the point of doing the Assassin spec. other than for the passives.
Are these two your only choices? I didn't think I'd like Artificer since Varric/AI is so bad at it, but I had a blast blowing everything sky high.
****
Nathan DA2 update:
Mostly ran around Kirkwall but did finally make it out of the city. Recruited everyone so far except for Merrill (and Sebastian, though I did his quest). Took out some bandits for Aveline, killed Kelder the magistrate's son, and rescued miners from dragons at the Bone Pit. Back in town, took out some Carta goons after the last living Harrowmont, found Martin's "legitimate" cargo, and overheard some ship captains and corrupt city officials discuss raids on Fereldan ships. Yeah, that won't be happening.
Will probably head up Sundermount next to pay his debt to Flemeth.
Nathan flirted with Anders a little bit but took the diplomatic response at the end since Anders was obviously still upset about what happened with Karl. Somewhat annoying how the flirt doesn't lead to Anders warning male Hawke off like it does with female Hawke. Is he not worried about hurting male Hawke, or is he overprotective to the point of insult toward female Hawke?

Somewhat annoying how the flirt doesn't lead to Anders warning male Hawke off like it does with female Hawke. Is he not worried about hurting male Hawke, or is he overprotective to the point of insult toward female Hawke? Game mechanic wise I figure it was an attempt to appease the folk who complained that the love interests acted the same with your character regardless if you were male or female. So female Hawke gets a dramatic "I'll hurt you!" at the first flirt, but male Hawke gets a more relaxed cute flirt. On the other hand, male Hawke has to suffer through the "Ex" story wile female Hawke gets to skip that. For once. Isabela and Merrill get similiar moments. It does add some spice to replays if you play both genders. But you can loose out on lore if you only stick to one gender. Win some, loose some. As for story reasons? Maybe Anders is more used to male romances never going that far? Him and Karl were obviously close, but they still wrote letters to each other and seemed on friendly terms for those few moments Karl was lucid. Never hear of him writing letters to his girlfriends. So he immediately tries to steer female Hawke off a path that he knows will only end in pain, but allows himself to indulge with male Hawke, figuring nothing will come of it. Then his crushing loneliness and need for a friend tosses him into the "I'll drown us in blood" speech. Not a good reason, but maybe a possible one? --- As for what was done yesterday: Hamin met a giant. Saw the smuggler giant was following the party, so Hamin climbed upon a rock to toss pebbles at it until it left. Silly giant kept smacking the rock while Hamin whittled down it's health. At half health the giant had an epiphany and climbed on top of the rock, smacking Hamin so he went flying into the air. Then the giant jumped off the rock, presumably breaking it's ankle in the process since almost all it's health disappeared when he landed. Hamin was able to burn away the rest of the giants health, so now he can add giant-slayer to his collection of titles. Wooo.

Only Coryphifun-fight to go, but I wanted Dorian and Iron Bull to get unbiblical with each other, Cassandra to patch things up with Blackwall after the revelation, and Sera to tease Blackwall about Josephine for a bit more dialogue before final fight and Trespasser.
Which meant me running around the Hissing Wastes for 30 mins for them to progress on their banter. Can't be bothered with the last 15 mins just yet.

Good luck. I spent most of a game trying to get DOrian and Iron Bull together and still didn't manage it.

Had to leave the game run on it's own most of the time to get something, anything, ugh.

The warden searching a cure in some land with no name is just a contrived way to try to explain why they will never appear again in game i suspect in DA4 there will still be the same mission until the warden go on the calling. . As for the US i don't think that the only RP valid for it is "sadness" a character with a GW mindset or an ultra conservative templar would do that for different reasons other than being sad or pessimist, they just want to kill permanently that dragon and his soul and not end up like Larius.
