Got Hawke's monologue after Following the Qun. Nearly pissed myself laughing at Meredith's face after Hawke suggests that they should all just run for the hills (instead of dealing with the Qunari). Isabela returned with the Tome, then Hawke dueled the Arishok. It was my first time with a rogue, so I initially did the fight on normal difficulty, which kind of trivialized it, so reloaded to do the fight on hard instead. I don't have the guts to try nightmare, but maybe I should. I think the Arishok bugged out a few times after I used the decoy ability, because he just stood there, swinging his sword at nothing, with Dog nipping at his butt.

Last night I completed the first part of Crestwood up to the switch to daylight, found all of Cole's funny accomplishments around Skyhold, solved Josephine's problems with the assassins (peacefully), and helped Solas' friend.

So I decided to just start up a trilogy run. Was curious before I get too far into Origins, was there ever a fix for that game slowing down after a few hours of play?
Are you talking about the memory leak? No, I don't think so.

I started a Neria Surana run-through of Origins yesterday, in part inspired by phoray and in part by the concept art I've seen of a female elven mage in dark-colored robe. (It's the image that's prominent in the Nexus Mods site. I, of course, downloaded the mod for a robe patterned after that image. *In addition, I modded Leliana to match the famous trailer.*) It's also about time I did the Mage Origin. Most of my PTs have been Dalish Elf, City Elf, and Human noble. Only recently did I do a dwarf PT. ("Deadly Dwarf" is a reference to my very first PT of Inquisition, which was my introduction to the world of DA.) But no Mage Origin up to now. This being the first time as a Circle Mage, I decided to explore everything in the tower before deciding what the backstory to the backstory would be for my PC. I was impressed with how many characters you could have a conversation with during the Mage Origin. I came to the conclusion that for an elf from an alienage, being a Circle Mage was a step up. Within the Circle, elves were treated no differently than human mages. Therefore, in the decision between siding with Jowan or Irving, I had her be an Aequitarian and side with Irving. Also, while conversing with the Elf Mage Eadric, I had her state she was from the Denerim alienage. (The other choices for pre-Tower origin were Lothering or "I don't remember where I came from." Perhaps that last option would've covered an excess Dalish elf mage child abandoned by his/her clan?) I tried to find as many mages who would appear later in the game. Wynne and Uldred were already at Ostagar. I did see Niall and Kelli. When doing "Broken Circle" with non-mage PCs, I always assumed Kelli was loopy because of what happened at the Tower. I found she was just as self-hating during the Origin story. She actually found the option of becoming a Tranquil appealing. Sadly, I didn't find mage Petra anywhere. Neria did choose to torment Cullen though... After being forced to leave the Circle, Neria accepts being recruited into the Grey Wardens which she sees as another organization that treats elves as equals. She seeks to loyally carry out her duties as a Warden along with Alistair even though their training was not nearly complete. Needless to say, much conflict with Morrigan is in store... In past PTs, way too much meta-gaming with my teams going back and forth long distances to get optimal outcomes everywhere. Noting that the team goes everywhere on foot, I'm trying to be more logical. Given that you find out Arl Eamon is sick while in Lothering, my team's first stop will be Redcliffe!

Noting that the team goes everywhere on foot, I'm trying to be more logical. Given that you find out Arl Eamon is sick while in Lothering, my team's first stop will be Redcliffe! AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Me too! It made me wonder if I'd just not gone around enough in the other origins to talk to people. It seemed like there was 10+ people to talk to in the Circle Tower. I chose "I don't remember" for my Surana because I wanted her to be a child stolen from the Dalish. The memory is still too traumatic to just be telling random people that though so LIE. Killi was crazy! although I had a funny moment with her. She was like FEAR MAGE FEAR HATE and I said, SARCASTICALLY, that maybe she should just go be Tranquil. And she was like, THAT'S a GREAT IDEA. I was like, What just happened? Heckling Cullen is almost a requirement as a female Mage. I've been trying to think about geography a lot as I play but also the actual information in the game. The way people talk, Arl is on his death bed. My Surana figured he was too sick to speak to; either time would bring him death, and his heir would step into place, or he would get better. But either probably wasn't going to happen in the next week. Then the gossips outside the tavern said her Circle Tower had been overrun by demons. So, she went to the Circle first! All my previous runs were, "Redcliffe-> Circle-> HAven/Denerim/Ashes-> Dalish-> Orzamaar.

Ya think that's what it is. Just started a Dwarf Noble play through and by the time I got to the party camp for the first time the menus, conversations, and load times took a pretty big lag spike. Not that having to save and restart is all too hard, but is mildly annoying lol

Haven't posted in a while, but I have made a lot of progress with my husband's female elf!Inquisitor. We took her through both Abyss and WE&WH, plus cleared out all of the main maps, leaving only a handful of fetch quests alone and the shards (didn't feel like platforming my way through the game). One thing I have found, with the Xbone version, is that there are a lot of lootable items I just can't loot. I don't really have that problem on the PC. Maybe a metal ore or two, but that is about it. Not sure if the controller just doesn't give you the precision that KB+M does, or what. Ah well....so be it. The console version also gave me the "naked Cullen", in the back of the Tavern, during Sera's pranks quest. I have never seen it on the PC version, though I knew it existed. Or could happen. I am now trying to finish up all a bunch of WT quests, and am about to head off to meet Maddox with Cullen and crew. Once that is completed, I will take her through the Arbor Wilds. That will then leave me with the DLC's to do (JoH and Decent) - if we so choose - before the final Cory showdown. And of course, Rog will see his lady get her heart stomped on by Solas.

I'm doing Origins side quests before I head on to Denerim and the Landmeet stuff. Shayne going in and on about knowing herself and being able to plan for the future has not lifted Surana's mood at all.

Since I'm trying to get away from playing mages, I've decided that instead I will try a castless dwarf. Maybe I'll actually stick with him this time, unlik my various other nonmage attempted playthroughs.

Sorry, I was thinking DAI, even though you clearly said "Redcliffe" and not "Hinterlands." My Wardens didn't end up as filthy rich as my Inquisitors did because I could stock up on crafting supplies and donate to the army, but my jerk mage did get that staff, I think.

First game I didn't know you could donate anything so I didn't. Won the game fine. Second time, I realize donation can be made, but no explanation is given for why I would want to do this. RP? Donated some stuff, not tons. Nothing seemed changed about end game. I haven't bothered this game either. I'm sure with my glitch supported updates in equipment, that I could donate. I'd just have to go shopping. I think I need to log in to my first Quiz and go empty out Val Royueax. Then golden nug it, but after that, see no point in money in that game. Weapon loot is good. Armor crafting has not much to do with money. Can't really recall buying anything other than furniture.... Oh yeah. I kinda hate gathering stuff. So, I go shopping at the Winter Palace in Trespasser at the armor crafting store. My third Quiz spent near all her money buying dragonstuff

Who is Shayne?
If you actually find something to buy with all that gold, let me know. I ended up with a huge stash both times that I could do nothing with by the end of the game. I wish it were like DA2 where you could stock up on potions and grenades with all that coin.
I have that problem too. I basically collect gold all game long, then never buy anything except the upgrade tomes, backpacks, and gifts. The one time I bought a fancy staff in Awakening, it was basically rendered obsolete when I got the staff dropped by the First during the inferno golem fight. Sigh.
****
Nathan was a busy man today. I've got Anders, Fenris, Varric, and Aveline all at 100% friendship. Isabela is at 80%, I think. Only Merrill and Sebastian are still below 50%. I have the hardest time with Merrill for some reason. I guess I can take her with me find all the "evil tomes" and read them instead of destroy them this time. Having higher stats is always a good thing with a duel with the Arishok looming in the near future. I don't usually worry much about Seb since his end game decision isn't based on it at all. Still, I like to at least get the stat boosts that 50% provides.
Anders finally admitted he had the hots for Nathan. And Nathan, purple one that he is, asked Anders if he wanted a sandwich after their night of passion together. Hey, he was hungry! As for mission results:
-Saved Ella and sent her back to the Circle. -Helped Fenris take out Hadriana and learn of his sister in the process. Hired Orana as a cook. -Helped Feynriel master his Dreamer skills (took Aveline for maybe the first time and she didn't get tempted by a demon; also took Isabela just so I could get a ton of friendship points by forgiving her). -Found Javaris and followed his lead back to a crazy elf with "mysterious backers" who sound a lot like Sister Petrice. I'm having fun being cheekier than usual with the Arishok. I didn't talk to him much in Act 1 so he's a bit more annoyed with purple Hawke than he normally is. -Helped Varric confront Bartrand; the latter was driven mad by the idol but, with Anders' help, regained a bit of his sanity. -Followed up on Emeric's information about the murders, only to learn that his suspect, DuPuis, was also looking for the killer (will try really, really hard this time to not turn in DuPuis so Varric can shoot him like the dog he is later on). -Helped Sebastian figure out why the Harrimans killed his family. Also returned the family bow to him.
Next up: checking out what's new on the Wounded Coast and trying to increase Merrill's friendship enough to trigger her quest.

melbella Sorry, auto correct. Shayle has learned from Caridan and the Cadash Thaig that she was an honorable volunteer warrior lady dwarf. Between the cut scene and the banter afterward with Alistair, she is quite keen to declare her optimism for the future. My Surana is feeling pretty pessimistic,so it's pretty irritating to her mood. I like Fenris torturing people a lot more. You prefer the Varric over that one?

The Slaver for Information. Adriana for information. Du Pois to make him fess up. 1. At Hawke's request. I always take that option, then kill the lot of them. 2. ?? He kills her. There is no torture. 3. Never seen this. When does it happen? He was in my party so it doesn't happen at the estate. In fact, he doesn't even object when you let DuPuis go, which seems very OOC.

I don't normally post in the dwarf thread, so I'll just stick this here instead: another potential link to Kal'Sharok. I forgot about this one, actually, until reading this letter from the last Harrowmont.
Really hope we get to visit Kal'Sharok in the next game. There have been so many hints about it...how different are the dwarves there? Are they in any way like the Sha'Brytol? Seems somewhat unlikely given they actually communicate with us in Inquisition. Are they even *more* traditional than the Orzammer sticks-in-the-mud? Did they do away with castes altogether to survive? I want to knoooowww.....

If you keep DuPuis alive, and don't take Varric with you when hunting down "Dr. Frankenstein", you can return later to Darktown, and confront DuPuis. He will be just above the hidden tunnel you use in one of Ander's side quests. With Fenris in your party, you can then have Fen "lyrium ghost" him into revealing the truth about his involvement. Happy hunting.

You need to fetch him from Darktown to help you look. He's at the bottom of the map, above the entrance to the sewers and where Danzig was doing his business. (For future reference). I'm pretty sure he vanishes if you don't take him with you to search for Leandra. --- Haven't been playing DA2 lately, but managed to cure Carver of vampirism and give him a soulpatch. Am now tempted to hunt down all the eyebrow-less folks in Kirkwall and glue some fuzzy caterpillars on them.
