Slow progress. But my warden survived the ambush by the crows and now has a new ally against the blight. Also worked with one of their reps ensuring no new contracts against the wardens will be taken.
Then moved onto Redcliff and helped the villagers survive the night with no casualties. Now heading towards the castle to find the source

Some pics from my DA2 finale. I did Legacy right before The Last Straw. Hawke was right on the money with this prediction Malvernis - this fight was a lot easier (still not easy though) with an all-ranged party. Also, Anders' healing spells. Anders and Nathan in sync This was only the second time I brought Anders in Legacy, both romances The Key Arrow to the face is usually fatal, right? Right? Reflecting BOOM So long, and thanks for all the fish....er, demons?

Dumb question? Who's the female mage? A modded Bethany? She kind of looks like Cassandra.

It is Bethany, but no mod. Her look (and Carver's and Leandra's) can vary depending on how you customize Hawke. I prefer Bethany with the longer hair but this is what I got this time.

Interesting. I wonder what's associated with what look? I used iconic female Hawke and Bethany retained the long hair and pretty face.

I think it has to do with what pre-set you start with, but I'm not sure. I do have a mod installed that lets me start with default Hawke and customize from there. Default male looks about 40yrs old in the CC, so I have to change him at least a bit since he's only supposed to be about 25 at the start of the game. This time I still couldn't get rid of his forehead wrinkles.
This is why most of my Hawkes look so much alike.

That scene and the one with Aveline (Captain's Condolences) always make me get sniffly. Oh yeah. Turn the page when you're ready. Whoever wrote that speech should get a prize. I was reading a comic yesterday and came upon this line. "The day Bethany died I exchanged one sister for another." referring to Aveline. I'd never thought of it that way But now I don't think I'll get away from it.

Hey, I thought I saw a post here by Curious Crow earlier.....where did it go? It vanished into the ether. Was feeling a bit sulky so I deleted it. It was basically that you were correct that the Hawke family face is determined by the preset (and skin color) you pick for Hawke and there are 9 possible variations you can get. There is even a handy chart you can google if you like to plan the faces. --- And I kinda did some DAI today, but it was mostly deciding not to delete Adahl after I remembered how gosh darn cute he was.

Got my new nightmare run underway, DD female Trevelyan. Got harassed by Cassandra for a bit, then time for adventuring! Behind spoiler tag because large image... Also, is it kind of grim that the elf is the only one without a body bag...? Still, closed the Breach and am checking out the folks of Haven. They seem nice. Adan is a jerk.

What's odd about that dead body, to me, is that multiple people have had to have walked by it to wrap and line up the other ones. So, it seems intentionally missed in a racist way, you know?
Today, I didn't conscript Vellana. Because my Surana wouldn't be all like, "hey crazy vengeful elf lady who just tried to kill me... I totally want to help you find your sister." And it was either offer to help find her sister or wish her luck.ah well. Not my fave character anyway. Then she averted a peasant revolt. My Surana is excellent at all this politics and managing people after doing for for 3 months as she ruled over her Teryn of Gwueryn. I head cannon that Zevran stopped by and happened to see it, and we had a nice time as he complimented me on my skills. I still don't know about the big decisions of this DLC. Architect and the Amaranthine vs Keep. I've never done the Keep Battle. I've heard it's fun.

(Although I do like her power tree...) Does it compel you to cooperate with Vellana initially? Interesting to see this DLC as the follow-up to "The Calling." It's too bad there was never any definitive answer to whether the Architect had any connection to Corypheus.

(Although I do like her power tree...) Does it compel you to cooperate with Vellana initially? Interesting to see this DLC as the follow-up to "The Calling." It's too bad there was never any definitive answer to whether the Architect had any connection to Corypheus. Before, I was playing hero types so of course I was after trying to save a lost cause like Amaranthine. But I think I failed Vigil KEep the first time, and managed to save both the city and the keep the second PT but I had to look online for a lot of stuff. This being my 3rd play through, I'm trying to check the internet less and just play . So, I'm not sure if I'll be able to save both this game. I remember it being something about all the upgrades on ores and the wall repair. I'm also playing a morally grey kind of achingly regretful Surana. Alistair was her jiminy cricket in Origins but now their relationship seems to be irreparable. It hurts. So, turning her back on Amaranthine is logistically, the right thing to do. And the heroic little brother that used to push her to be a better person is no longer around, so I see/feel that her giving up on the city is also letting go of the relationship with Alistair she'll never have again. On the other hand, Surana has been a Teryn within Fereldan for 6 months to a year, and is more of a Fereldan now then she EVER was in the Circle. Amaranthine is full of citizens, and the nobles, despite their annoying selves, have stated that it is the Jewel of this portion of lands. It could be a huge setback for the area to lose the town, and Denerim is already suffering. It could be bad for all of Fereldan for it's major port city to fall. So, she could seek to save it on those grounds, although there are less feels , there is still growth of the character. And unplanned growth at that; she'd sought that boon because she valued her freedom so heavily, and now she's feeling responsibilities for a country and it's people she really didn't give two figs about at the start of Origins. This is my 3rd time to play but first time to play after reading the Calling. What I still don't get is why Velanna's sister is there, although I can see why the Architect wanted her. She can commune with animals and call them forth; the battle is with Dragon Thralls, did you notice? So, the Architect recruited her for that reason. Another thing I don't get is why they wanted to kill the Warden... ? Also, the first two times I played, I thought what the Architect was doing was collecting Warden blood so he could make more intelligent Darkspawn. But he was probably using his crazy Blight MAgic to hurry the taint along in our blood while we were unconscious and unable to refuse. Another thing I don't get is all the dead bodies. What the heck, ya know? And also those Elemental creatures that wear our clothes, where does that fit in his plans? I thought it was confirmed that the Architect is another Blighted Magister who forgot himself? Cory even talks about how "the others don't remember."

I still don't know about the big decisions of this DLC. Architect and the Amaranthine vs Keep. I've never done the Keep Battle. I've heard it's fun. I chose to protect the Keep only once, with my Dalish Warden who romanced Morrigan. The battle was a bit confusing, with lots of stops and starts. I prefer the fight in Amaranthine so I do that one pretty much all the time. What can I say.....most of my Wardens like being adored by everyone. Interesting to see this DLC as the follow-up to "The Calling." It's too bad there was never any definitive answer to whether the Architect had any connection to Corypheus. World of Thedas 2 all but confirms the Architect was another of the 7 magisters. His priest title was "Architect of the Works of Beauty." Corypheus was known as the "Conductor of the Choir of Silence." Trivia bit: the achievement in DA2 for killing, er "killing," Corypheus is called, "Conductor."
The other magisters/priests were:
Watchman of Night (Lusacan) Forgewright of Fire (Toth) Appraiser of Slavery (Andoral) Augur of Mystery (Razikale)* Madman of Chaos (Zazikel)
(yes, I had to get my book to look them all up )
*more trivia: Razikale is prominent in the Tevinter ruins in JoH, and the Avvar mage leaders just happen to be called augurs....

Also, is it kind of grim that the elf is the only one without a body bag...? Which area did you find this? The forward camp or when you went with Leliana's suggestion to take the mountain path instead of charging with the soldiers? It requires charging with the soldiers. It's just before reaching the battle where Cullen is on the left hand side up a small stairway. Third time I'd taken this route and the first time I've ever seen it.

Went back to my Emma Hawke game. She was supposed to romance Fenris but someone (not mentioning any names ) messed up and it didn't happen. Emma is a mage (force/healer), diplomatic personality with a touch of purple. Carver joined the Wardens.
So, to the beginning of Act 2 we go. #gettingitrightthistime
Mother apparently has other ideas.....

Made some good progress. My warden helped take back the castle, only to determine that he must now go get the assistance of the mages to help defeat a demon. After some great times in the fade...my warden successfully saved the Mages and destroyed the demon. Now it's off to find an ancient urn..
Also a certain witch of the wilds gave him his first taste of magic...if ya know what I mean(best oghren voice impression)

Thanks for the info on the Architect! We need to start a thread to discuss all the DA literature that's out there: novels, comics, and general information books.

I looked at the outcomes for not saving Amaranthine. Man, they blast ya don't they? Since I had good RP reason for either choice, I saved the city. Will probably side with the Architect as well. My Surana made deals with demons, and left Avernus in charge of unethical research, so talking Darkspawn isn't too far off her trod path is it. I have a first world problem though; I seem to have too many spells. . But have learned that I really like controlling the field as a Mage. May give glyphs a chAnce in the other two games after this. Which is funny, because I intentionally avoided glyphs as a Mage in the other two games.took being a mage in Origins to broaden my horizons.

Emma ran around Kirkwall mostly killing bad guys. Sent Feynriel to Tevinter, sent Javaris somewhere far away, and sent Ser Alrik to his judgement.
I want to do Fenris' QB after A Bitter Pill so I've been avoiding his place. I was going to give him the book but QB triggered instead so I had to reload. Stupid quest auto-sequencing.

I'll try to give a more complete update later. Suffice it to say, my Surana is about to go to the Landsmeet (where she will have to make the choice between Alistair or Loghain). Just before that, she was trying to tie up some loose ends. Although generally a straight arrow, Neria has seen the need to do tasks for questionable parties in order to get needed funds for equipment. The most mysterious and likely criminal being to do "Favors for Certain Parties" out of the Gnawed Noble Tavern. She hasn't done all their tasks (she just couldn't bring herself to kill "Brian, lowly Brian), but she thought the "Dead Drops" was a relatively harmless task. When she tried to make the last drop in Redcliffe, however, the package exploded on her! None of the party was hurt, but it was a neat little detail I had never seen before!
