I've also started the process to make Cassandra the new Divine. I was going to do it with Leliana, since I know that Cass won't be around for Trespasser if she becomes Divine. For RP reasons, I'm going to go with Cass and use Iron Bull for the DLC. Cass' thoughts are exactly how Rowan feels about the Chantry, the Seekers and the mages.
I'm not sure where you got this information? Cass is available as a companion in Trespasser even if she is Divine. She has sweet armor to wear, too.
In vanilla game, she is available post-Cory fight if you go talk to her afterwards and ask her back (which she is relieved to hear, btw).

Naderra Brosca It wasn't scary, the Sky. Just....Odd. Not having that feeling of..closeness. Not like I spent much time looking up in Dust Town anyway.
I like the weight of the weapon Duncan gave me. Rather spiffy, having a King's mace in my hand when I wasn't allowed to touch anything but the crappiest of weapons before. Not having to compensate for the lack of balance really makes a difference. The trip to "Ostagar" was probably uneventful for the human, but for me....wow. These things called "bushes" were taller than me, never mind the "trees' ! So many shades of green! the silks I'd spotted on traders carts meant for the Diamond Quarters didn't do green justice! The one thing I don't like is the cold. With so many Lava pits and streams and smithies in Orzamaar, even the chilliest times of rest weren't so bad curled up next to mama. (I guess human's call it "night"?) Here on the surface, though, I don't have anyone to curl up next to. Duncan's been so nice, I have't wanted to ask. Sides, men always get the wrong idea about staying warm. And the "sun"! So bright, Duncan told me to shield my eyes as best I could those first few days to protect my eyes from being burnt up.
Not knowing much of what was going on when we arrived at Ostagar, I leaned towards polite. Polite usually kept the kicks away. The ruins of Ostagar looked to be crumbling. So weird to see stone in such poor a shape. Met the human's king and even he was nice. That trader in the commons wasn't joking when he said caste didn't matter up here! I hadn't been spitted at for near three weeks! Although, seemed a lot of folk kept expecting me to sell them something. Weird, that. Well, all the humans were a bit weird but I'm very open to the idea of liking them anyway. Especially that Alistair, what a jokester. Daveth seemed to have a lot in common with me too, although when he flirted I nipped it in the bud. If I wasn't interested in Dwarven men, I wasn't going to tumble a human one. Besides, I think I could have picked him up and tossed him.
Saw magic and mages and met a Tranquil and a lot of human ladies in dresses were praying to some guy who wasn't even their ancestor. Fat chance he'd respond to people who weren't even family. Who knows. One of them asked me if I wanted a blessing, and I was like, sure, gimme. But she just waved her hands and spoke a few words and I didn't feel any different. Got a key to a chest out of a guy's bum, searched all the bushes and stone crannies for loot on the down low while everyone was so busy. Sold their own goods back to their own quartermaster! That was funny. They had these animals that were like small furry war brontos that was sick, and they was too afraid to touch him cuz he was tainted. Said I'd be good cuz I was going to be a Warden anyway and the taint wouldn't touch me if I got bit. Whatever; if I can handle a bit of bronto trampling, I can handle a small furry sick creature who's got a bit of teeth. So on the muzzle went, easy as you please, and when the guy asked me to get a flower and maybe I'd win myself a "Mabari" I got a bit excited. I'd never ridden a bronto before, wondered how the Mabari would handle it. Size wise seemed okay...
Then it was time to talk to Duncan and we got a job. Except, and I was relieved, it didn't require me to kill anybody that wasn't Darkspawn. Nice! I could handle that. So, we wandered all over the Konkari Wilds while Jory whined about cold and wet and Darkspawn lurking. Got some nice furry pelts from wolves I had every intention of making into a blanket for this damned "weather" up here on the surface. I may have tested everybody's patience, going through bushes and picking up everything. I dunno... Being a Duster all my life, no shame in making sure nothing went to waste and if luck were with you, you'd make some coin. Got some better shoes out of the whole deal too. Dead darkspawn don't need shoes and crazy enough, those genlocks are my size!
Then everybody was jumpy about this human lady named Morrigan. Maybe I should have been scared too, but I dunno. Jarvia was way scarier. And we talked to her mama. Her mama was a bit weird too. No slur in her words but she sure acted a bit drunk. But we got the papers, got the blood, and headed on back to camp. "Night" was happening by that point anyway, so it was good we were leaving the Wilds where there weren't any fires to light the way.
Then it was time for the Joining, something that could kill me supposedly. Eh... There were a lot of things that could kill me. I was sad that Daveth died, as short I knew him, and I saw Jory getting shanked a million miles away. He was too twitchy for all this secret ritual business to go well for him. Then it was my turn.
And when that Dragon filled my eyeballs, and the numb filled my limbs, that was when I finally felt fear. In the bright blinding pain that felt like someone was pushing daggers into my skull, the fear built up until I did wish for a death to make it end. I don't know how long it lasted, it felt like my whole life, but then it was gone, and I wasn't dead like Daveth. So...that was okay. Didn't feel much different. I was hungry, but that was always a fact o' life as far as I was concerned.
I groused at Duncan a bit. He'd mentioned death, he hadn't mentioned terror filled visions and excruciating pain! Warn a dwarf, won't you next time? But whatever. We went to some boring meeting where I got another job. Light a torch on some tower. These were some easy jobs they were giving me, lemme tell you. Alistair whined a bit though and I frowned at him. Soft life so far eh? We wasn't even being asked to steal or kill anybody that wasn't Darkspawn. seriously.
It got a bit chaotic after that, glad I was close to the ground already for all this rumbling. A couple fire balls knocked Alistair and I to the ground, but we lucked out, buz those that were closer were roasted crispy like nugs too close to the lava pit. Alistiar seemed a bit grim about all the dead bodies. I dunno, I see bodies all the time. Starved bodies, shanked bodies, half eaten by tainted spiders bodies. Every now and then the officials came down to dust town and made us clean it all up to cut down on disease or some such. Anyway, we got to teh tower, but the plan got all effed up, cuz there were Darkspawn up in that tower like you wouldn't believe and there wasn't even supposed to be even one! We were clearning the tower with some help from a mage and a solider pretty good. It was really weird and really cool to be weilding flaming weapons! but after we lit that torch, it just seemed to call more to us. or maybe they were filling up the floors below as we worked our way up... Thing was, I got a couple arrows to the chest. That really hurt, gotta admit, and I may have fallen to the floor. I was reaching for my mace, but well... my arm wasn't working very well. Guess that was it.
This was the best three weeks of my life. Not a bad way to go.

forgetmenotBRACKETspoilerBRACKET Text BRACKET/spoilerBRACKET There is also the spoiler button on the post bar that you could paste your writing into and it'll do the brackets for you. But I find it annoying. And don't worry about your story length posts! ^^ It also helps me role play. If I didn't do them, I don't think I'd enjoy replaying the game, to be honest.

What can I say, she's blunt, which can come off as rude, but she's good natured about it. Besides, she's from Dust Town and scooped Bronto poop for a living. She's okay with giving a little rinse off to a key.
So, and this shocks me, I heard the "Fall of the Dales" for the very first time last night from the Story Teller in the Dalish camp. After a Tabris, Cousland, AND Surana play through, it's the first time! When they said, "And we shall never again submit" I was like, I've heard that before! in like DA2, but not Origins. And for the most part, I'm avoiding ALL the persuade/intimidate options as much as I can, while asking everyone for money, so the Dalish are being WAY meaner than I ever remember them being! And I have this head cannon that my Brosca is training Barkspawn to be her mighty dwarven steed, so he's been going everywhere. And he barked at Zathrien and he got all disgusted and was like, "Like we don't have enough of a problem with beasts right now as it is!" That jerk! haha

I wonder if I missed that opportunity. I thought I went all over the camp right after talking to Zatharien, maybe I missed the chest you speak of cuz he seemed fine. I played a male Dalish I ended up giving up on and do remember helping with a story but it wasn't the same as the story teller weaving it together for my band of merry Wardens sitting round. It felt more like a quiz.

It's the only time in the whole game that I can remember anyone challenging my PC on the questionable practice of looting chests that don't belong to you!

melbella It was a rumor that I'd heard on Tvtropes (yeah I know, real reliable source.) I only know three things about Trespasser, with the fourth being false: 1) It takes place two years after the end of DA:I. Once you start it at the War Table, you can't go back.
2) The Inquisitor is directly depowered with the loss of their hand.
3) You confront Solas, with the option to forgive him or kill him. 4) You cannot use Cassandra if she's Divine. Thanks for letting me know that's wrong. She's my go-to tank and I was bummed at the thought of her not being there. Her and Varric are Rowan's closest friends. You know, Trespasser sounds a lot like Witch Hunt. Anyway, that's all I know and more than I wanted to know. I'll have the game knocked out before Turkey Day anyhow.

Natashina #3 of that list is also not entirely correct.
Just to be on the safe side with Cass, make sure you speak with her after the post-Cory epilogue when the game puts you back in Skyhold. Let her know you want her back on the team. I'm fairly certain she would be available as a party member in Trespasser regardless (same as Dorian) but it's better safe than sorry!

Aedan finished up in the Brecilian forest, and Leliana treated us to a song, although I think it was mainly for me. I Killed Howe, but where as I usually kill Ser Cauthrien, because I had Morrigan's ring, I decided to let Morrigan and Rex get me out. Rex knows Morrigan is not very diplomatic, so he bluffed his way through.

Today, Katriel and her companions cleared the Tower of Bone of Red Templars and then stormed the Sahrnia Quarry. Almost immediately, they began discovering the missing villagers. Rather than being used for hard labor, they were being used as hosts to grow Red Lyrium for the Red Templars. They also discovered letters from the disgraced Templar, Samson, describing how they were using the Red Lyrium on the Templars to augment their powers. The process, however, changed them, slowly turning them into monsters. Katriel and her team go from level to level, defeating the Red Templars and freeing the prisoners. With the Quarry secured, the next objective will be Suledin Keep, where chevalier Michel de Chevin believes the Red Templars are being directed by the Choice Spirit, Imshael. _______________________ A bit off-topic, Katriel's team returned to the Emerald Graves to retrieve crafting materials and complete some secondary quests. The two strangely came together when they were investigating what happened to the girl whose body they found in the river. They ran into a great bear near the Crystal Grace plant at the spot where the girl fell to her death. They battled the bear till it was half strength at which point it went over the ledge and fell to its death. The ever sensitive Vivienne let out her "Poor think" fight banter as it went over the side.

Bruenor and his team wrapped things up on the Storm Coast. Found more signs of Wardens passing through the area, but no Wardens. From the state of their old camps. it had been a few months at least. Too bad since he was hoping to get some answers from them. They were apparently looking for someone but the descriptions of who it might be were so vague, it would be hard to tell who they were talking about even if you knew who it was [pssst: it's Loghain Mac Tir ].
He closed all the rifts he could find [even the one in the spider cave, a level 12er, while still at level 7 ], found more shards and astrariums (astraria?), and way more spiders than he ever saw in the Deep Roads. Must be a breeding ground in the local caves or something. He was able to get a bear to take a few out for him but then it got distracted and ran off. Stupid bear.
Back at Haven he adjusted everyone's gear and sold off the excess stuff. He's actually got enough coin now to buy the mysterious "ware" in Val Royeaux, but he'd rather wait until he can get a discount.
On the agenda for next time: make the rounds and catch up with everyone, then maybe head out to the merc fortress on the other side of Bearland for some fun.
**** I found both bottles and the song lyric without looking at my guide (for once). I missed a couple of the "In the Mists" codex entries though. Found one but couldn't find the rest just yet. I still haven't golden nug'd it.....was thinking of waiting until I get to Skyhold, but I might give in and sync up before IYHSB.

I gave Calian a proper send off. Took Loghain's head off myself. (I usually let Alister do it.) Made Alister King. Went into the final battle with Morrigan, Leliana, and my dog. Killed the Archdemon and became Teyrn of Gwaren. I don't know whether to play witch-hunt, just to walk through the mirror at the end. Or just start a new canon play through. I've done lots of play throughs that I thought were my canon, but I realize now they were only leading up to this next TRUE canon play through. Edit: I did witch hunt, I forgot it was so short.

Surana went to the Dalish elves for help against the blight but it seems the treaties are absolutely useless because literally EVERYONE has a reason not to help the Grey Wardens. So, off to kill some werewolves, in the most annoying forest ever. And then I finally reached the werewolves' lair and I kept dying constantly to the pack of wolves that one shots everyone. So, back out of the endless annoying ruin so I could swap Wynne for Morrigan and then off to try again... after having to go through the ENTIRE ruin again. I hate this quest.

I got a lot of playing done tonight after my nap.
--I hit level 21 and decided it was time to kill some overgrown lizards. I got lucky with Fade Touched Obsidian this time. I've gotten a total of 7 pieces in the game. I built some new robes for Solas with +3 Guard on Hit. Varric had one of my hand-me-downs with Guard on it; I had my 2nd to last set of armor that also had Guard on it.
--I decided I wanted to try the dragons without tonics. So I went back to Skyhold and built a crapload of ice resistant arm and leg pieces. By the time I was done, Rowan had over 60%, Cass was at 50% and Solas/Varric was at 40%. I also grabbed the Forces perk for extra defense. I finally specced Solas out of Ice and went into Emprise du Lion. I also grabbed another respec necklace on my way out. I also made sure to grab my fire resist gear as well.
--Hit up the dragons to the south. I managed both of the frost dragons back to back without heading back to camp. Didn't run out of pots or grenades. I swung over by the Keep and put on the fire resist gear. Restocked on grenades and restoration pots, then headed back to deal with the Highland Ravager. I forgot how annoying the fight is. Strong breath damage, stunning with adds and Guard. It took a bit, but I got her down without anyone dying.
--Started the Hissing Wastes. I made sure to get the schematic for the bow from my imgur album. I got it mostly built, only with a Superb Corruption Rune. Sadly, I had forgotten that I need the Short List perk in order to get my Tevinter Longbow Grip. However, I'm at 54% crit so I'm not stressing it too much at the moment.
--I'm knocking out that zone before I move on. I forgot how much I did like the place. Plus, if you stay off of your mount, banter fires a lot. I always bring Varric along. The Sandy Howler is the last dragon left to kill. Since she's at the Mountain Fortress, I'll take care of her as I'm finishing the zone. I've gotten 3 of the tombs done so far, and only 2 rift in the zone left.
And no, I haven't started into the Abyss yet. I also forgot that I can't do the Oasis without grabbing some of the shards first. I've decided that I still don't care so that zone will wait until next time. Possibly with my warrior I've got in mind, but I'm not sure yet.

I've decided that I still don't care so that zone will wait until next time. Possibly with my warrior I've got in mind, but I'm not sure yet. You sound a lot like myself, lol! The nice thing about dragon fights is that you know what you're getting into and can craft your gear accordingly. I tried to take out the Hinterlands Dragon before Haven. I collected enough shards to make it all the way to the superb belt of fire resistance at the Oasis (and then farmed four of them). I had my party hunt dragonlings so that I could craft gear with some fire resistance. On Nightmare with Trials on, things still did not go well! I had to go back after Skyhold with better gear and fire resistance potions to get the job done. After clearing Suledin Keep, I went back to Crestwood to take out the Northern Hunter. I crafted electric resistant armor (roughly 35% for each companion) but forgot that my Inky's staff was an electric staff (albeit with a Spirit rune). It was a long slog, but Katriel was ultimately victorious. (Thankfully no dragonlings!) I also like crafting armor for my mages and rogues with the +3 guard on hit Fade-touched Obsidian which I farm in Redcliffe; it makes them a lot less squishy!

Basically Guard is like Barrier: an extra layer of protection before the enemy starts chipping away at your health. It's shown by those silver things over the health bar of both friends and foe. The Vanguard tree is how warriors generate Guard naturally. Using the " +3 Guard on hit" fade-touched materials in your crafted weapons or armor allows anyone - mages and rogues included - to generate Guard. I farm the fade-touched Obsidian in that house in Redcliffe for that reason.
