This is more like a 'what happened this week on DA' instead of day. But since i was in a car accident on the eighth it has been reaally hard to type. And thus hae not been on since N7 day. Anyways. - Started my fifth playthrough of Inqusition (third with Kara)
- Explored the Hinterlands, Storm Coast, and Haven
- Crafted a new Bow for for Kara this time out. As well as Armor for Bull and upgrades for Bianca
- Collected all party members minus Cole, Dorian.
- Pretty much talked to everyone in Haven.
- Gearing up to do Champions
- Kara: Archer/ Sabotage/ Subterfuge, Bull: Vanguard/ BM, Cassandra: BM/ TH, Blackwall: BM, Sera: Archer, Varric: Sabotage/ subterfuge. Viv: Ice/ spirit, Solas:Spirit/Ice.
Wanted to do a diary in character from this, but again, broken arm. deadlydwarf I guess I need to bother looking into all this guard business, the way you guys talk about it, seems I just don't even understand the combat in DAI forgetmenot I just read fast and "picked up" followed by "fade tongued" struck me as funny in my head. ^^ Like Cory be picking the Quiz up in a bar. Basically Guard is like Barrier: an extra layer of protection before the enemy starts chipping away at your health. It's shown by those silver things over the health bar of both friends and foe. The Vanguard tree is how warriors generate Guard naturally. Using the " +3 Guard on hit" fade-touched materials in your crafted weapons or armor allows anyone - mages and rogues included - to generate Guard. I farm the fade-touched Obsidian in that house in Redcliffe for that reason. Not to mention that abillities like Rally and War Horn can also generate guard for the entire party.

--I fired the game back up and finished the Hissing Wastes. I didn't use my mount once and I enjoy the nighttime setting. I love the dwarf lore as well and I was very happy to see it in the main game. I also enjoy hearing Varric's mixed feelings about the dwarves. A mix of pride, shame and hurt. I got all of the goodies and took out the Sandy Howler. Compared to the Highland Ravager, she's a piece of cake. That's it for the high dragons in southern Thedas.
--Did a major upgrade to Bianca. Took "her" from 146 dps to 215 dps. Varric does some killer damage now.
--THEY NERFED THE THICK LONGBOW GRIP! That is the tier 3 longbow grip that I was using on my first character. They nerfed the second leather slot by one. So I can "only" get a total of 96% crit. It's nothing to cry over, but I was not a happy rogue.
--On a RP level, Rowan is starting to question Solas a bit. In some banter, Solas remarks on how he's surprised that the dwarves never tried to unite or retake the Deep Roads. Varric talks about how there is plenty of dwarves on the surface living their own lives. That they don't miss the Stone. Solas sharply remarks that they are still missing what they've never known.
That gave my character pause. She prides herself on not being Dalish nor from the city. She identified with Solas, in the sense that she was a person and not defined by the shape of her ears. However, his comments to Varric made her start to question Solas' motives. She's in love and that blinded her to some extent. Rowan also wondered where Solas got off talking to Varric like that.
She was also puzzled by his horror at the thought of killing the Old Gods before they became an issue. It makes sense to her, but is wondering why Solas is so upset. He's starting to change. He's sounding more stubborn and single-minded than she had heard him be up to this point. She doesn't like this side of him.
--Did Vivienne's personal quest. I always go for the real wyvern heart. It's one of the few times in the game where Vivi seems like a real person and not someone climbing the ladder of power. Too bad that lasts only until you meet the Duke's family.
--I realized that I need to slow down a bit and do Abyss. That way I can save the Wardens before I run out of things to do other than Trespasser. I've still got both DLC zones, Varric's main personal quest, Cole's quest (which takes all of about 30 minutes including the follow-up conversation,) and the Well left to go. I should have enough time to get back to the WT as needed after Abyss. I'm not looking forward to Solas losing his shit.
--I used my final piece of Guard +3 mats for Dorian. I know that Solas isn't going to be around for Trespasser, and I don't like Vivienne much. So Dorian is going to replace Solas. Well, after a respec once I beat Cory. Necromancy is such a joke in this game.
Guard is great because it's a lot like barrier. If you combine Guard and Barrier on a mage, they are damned near untouchable. It makes it worth your while to harvest any obsidian you see. Bare in mind that there are two types of Fade-Touched Obsidian. One of them adds a 10% chance of Chain Lightning on hit for 75% damage. So keep that in mind.

Dumb question; if you wait until after the main game to do the DLC, do you have Solas for JOH and Descent? No. He doesn't really have much to say in Descent (if he did, he'd likely give himself away) but has some good lines in JoH due to so much spirit-y stuff going on.
Bruenor update: Successfully cleared the mercs out of the forest villa and the Carta out of Valammar.
Failed spectacularly at closing the rift nearest the villa. First attempt, a promoted rage demon in the first wave got me. On my second attempt, the horde of shades in the second wave got me. Third attempt I started from up on a hill and picked them off slowly. Managed to survive wave 2 that time, but it took me so long that wave 3 spawned, where another promoted rage demon and a horde of shades got me. Bruenor will come back later for them.
After recovering and then making a fruitless trip to Redcliffe (I thought I'd unlocked Deft Hands but I haven't yet), Bruenor decided to head south to the Fallow Mire. Seeing Scout Harding again made him not mind the cold and wet so much.

Today, Katriel and her companions stormed Suledin Keep....twice. One of the nasty surprises they found in the keep was that the Red Templars were using the red lyrium on giants. There were two giants. After killing the first one, they had to return to camp to get resupplied before taking out the second one. After killing the giants and many Red Templars, they finally come face to face with the Demon (AKA Choice Spirit), Imshael. This bizarre demon was able to shapeshift into numerous demonic forms including Rage Demon and Pride Demon: After finally defeating the Demon, they claim the Keep for the Inquisition. Katriel then returned to Skyhold to turn over all the evidence collected to Cullen. He, in turn, discovered that much of what the Red Templars doing was building an extraordinarily tough armor made of Red Lyrium for Corypheus' general, Samson, so that he could act as Corypheus' "Vessel." Cullen then went to work trying to locate Samson while Dagna the Arcanist got busy trying to find a way to defeat the armor. While Cullen was pursuing his leads on Samson, Katriel and her companions returned to Crestwood to kill the dragon - a Northern Hunter - which was terrorizing the village. After killing the dragon, they closed the last two rifts and left Crestwood free of demons and monsters. The group also returned to the Hinterlands where Solas' research revealed an important rift that had to be sealed. After sealing several remaining rifts, Katriel went with Dorian to Redcliffe where he had a tense meeting with his estranged father. Finally, after receiving a report from Leliana about Venatori activities in the Hissing Wastes, located in Western Thedas, Katriel and her companions set out for the Hissing Wastes and found a desert filled with Dwarven ruins, extraordinary raw materails.....and many Venatori!

My canon play-through has my city elf romance Leliana, so the story really starts with her. She was in Ferelden with Sketch and Tug, doing some work for Marjolaine. Dealing with snitches, planting incriminating evidence, that sort of thing. warning many pics. i.imgur.com/GRuFGL6.jpgi.imgur.com/nkmdI56.jpgShe had completed her tasks and was just waiting for Marjolaine to show herself. i.imgur.com/UKBUUsM.jpgShe didn't have to wait long. i.imgur.com/UZD5qt4.jpgMarjolaine said she had one more job before we left Ferelden, and that she should see Bonny Lem and get some equipment. i.imgur.com/Vxk7bX7.jpgThey had to plant some incriminating papers in a desk in the Arl of Denerim's estate. i.imgur.com/a1HSkab.jpgThey had killed a few guards and were about to plant the papers, when Leliana saw her love... i.imgur.com/NkODP0C.jpgSeducing a Ferelden officer. i.imgur.com/ZgTPoV9.jpgShe left the papers in the bedroom, it was then she noticed the seal, indicating they were Orlesian military documents. And this wasn't about embarrassing nobles, it was treason. Marjolaine told her not to question her, and disappeared. i.imgur.com/yOWNleR.jpgBack at their base, Leliana had it out with her. i.imgur.com/GITdUvV.jpgMarjolaine said if meant that much to Leliana, they would go and get the papers back. i.imgur.com/D6atDuh.jpgBut when Leliana went to retrieve the papers, the guards were alerted and Marjolaine split once again. i.imgur.com/PkxXnej.jpgThey made it out of the estate and Marjolaine assured Leliana, everything would be alright, i.imgur.com/7ebtXTw.jpgbefore sticking a knife in her gut i.imgur.com/S4mSB90.jpgand handing her over to Commander Raleigh. i.imgur.com/I7SiZ1i.jpgAfter much abuse at the hands of the Fereldens, she awoke to hear an Orlesian womans voice coming from the bars above her cell. She dropped a small bag containing a dagger, and the key to her cell. She said, others need you Leliana. Leliana found Sketch, but was too late to help Tug. i.imgur.com/FmBEA0M.jpgIt was while looking for a way out, that she met my mother. When she released my mother, she assured her she would tell her daughter of her. i.imgur.com/rdeKxor.jpgShe barely made it to the dungeon exit before collapsing, and when she awoke, she was in a chantry. i.imgur.com/25oHb8C.jpgWhere Revered Mother Dorothea, who had also been seduced by Marjolaine, and was the woman who had dropped her the key, told her that Commander Raleigh would be escorting Marjolaine to the coast. i.imgur.com/W8NomQy.jpgLeliana, Sketch, and Silas, a man they freed from the dungeon, went in pursuit. i.imgur.com/23GcSn1.jpgSilas had long suffered at the hands of Raleigh, so Leliana allowed him to be the one to push him off the cliff. i.imgur.com/Ca72UOU.jpgBut she couldn't bring herself to do the same to the woman she had loved. i.imgur.com/vRXOgc0.jpgI am not the same as you Marjolaine. i.imgur.com/ugsrWKj.jpg

Well, this is what I had initially gotten done earlier. That was before I realized I screwed up nicely. Since the outcomes are going to be the same I'll share. --Did the Siege of Adamant. I noticed while I was there that the music is something of a remix. It's a cross between a sad but epic version of "The Dawn Will Come," and "In Uthenera" (the theme for the HoF in DA:O.) It hit me right in the heart too. --Varric, Cass and Solas were all the poor bastards that ended up falling into the Fade with Rowan. The Nightmare is probably one of my favorite bosses in the game. He talks a lot of smack, has a kick ass voice and (when fought at level) is a challenging boss fight. I enjoy that segment. --I left Stroud behind in the Fade. I do have a DA:I session planned for down the road that will involve my bitchy Hawke. Pro-Templar, Pro-Aggression, Anti-Anders in every way. The kicker? This will be a new world state, where Alistair will be a Grey Warden. Why? Because that's the only way I won't feel guilty about ditching one of my Hawkes in the Fade. The Wardens joined the Inquisition. --Watched the cutscene with Morrigan. That's another sequence I've always liked. It was another case where the lore expanded without Cory needing to be involved. It helps he was a motivator, but that is a call back to the first DA:O. Particularly the Dalish Warden. --Rowan beheaded the Tevinter idiot with her own blade, and sent Ser Ruth to the mines. You know, I always have wondered how a non-warrior wields that thing so well. It's funniest to me as a elven mage, but I digress. --Got to the rooftop chat with Sera. I always did like that and it explained a lot about the character. Sera is slowly growing on me. She's definitely Rowan's kid sister. I find it sweet. --Did Blackwall's quest. I kept him in the Inquisition as a freed man. I enjoy that quest a lot. For one, the character reveal/development is awesome. The voice acting on all of the major players (the IQ, Cullen and Blackwall) are excellent and so spot on. I've changed the color of his armor to match everyone else's. Also upgraded his weapons and his arm/leg slots. He's going with me to the Deep Roads. Why? Because it amuses me and I need a bit of a break from Cass. --Did Cole's sidequest as well. I made him more human, which I still prefer. I remember the only time I kept him as as spirit. It was on my very first character, my dwarf. It unnerved me so much that I vowed never to do it again. I can make up the lost affection with Solas anyhow. --Edit: I forgot to mention that I also had knocked out Varric's quest. I still wish that I could have had the option to talk back to Bianca. Even better, have her as judgement. Rowan judged a guy for throwing goats at walls; her own party member for his crimes. I think Bianca got off scot-free because I think she's a Writer's Pet. I had several rants about her on the old BSN right after I'd played that sequence for the first time. So, you guys might be asking why I said that this was what I had done, but screwed up? The Wardens died because I wasn't paying close enough attention. I sent Cullen out on the Find the Source of the Darkspawn WT mission. Apparently this will weaken the Wardens so even if you pick the right choices afterwards, the Wardens are wiped out. I fucking hate that quest chain. I apologize, but wow. I try to avoid cussing much in this thread, but man.... I groaned and went back to my save I'd made right after I got back to Skyhold. Here's exactly what you need to do to not kill off the remaining Wardens after Adamant. Presuming you let them into the Inquistion of course: Find the Source of the Darkspawn: Leliana Pursue Marquise Bouffon: Leliana Defeat Marquise Bouffon: Josie or Leliana Destroy the Darkspawn Outbreak: Cullen, always. If you screw up any of those quests, kiss the Wardens goodbye.

Shianni woke me up early on the morning of my wedding, she was excited i.imgur.com/aqOeFOa.jpgMe...not so much. i.imgur.com/jRlK2Mw.jpgI put on my wedding clothes and went out to mingle Some friends of my mothers gave me some money they had been saving. i.imgur.com/lDIdX6A.jpgBefore the ceremony could get underway, some Humans showed up and thought they could help themselves to the women. i.imgur.com/vF6qpmD.jpgShianni bottled one of them without knowing he was the Arl of Denerim's son. i.imgur.com/DJooQLW.jpgSoris then said another Human had showed up. Anything to put the wedding off for a while. This one wasn't easily scared off, and Valendrian said he was from an order of great warriors. i.imgur.com/evF55gz.jpgWell I suppose if I have to be married, I could have done worse. i.imgur.com/EffwplI.jpgBut then the ceremony was interrupted when Vaughan Kendell showed up again, eager to take up where he left off. i.imgur.com/Cm6QiZG.jpgI don't remember anything else until I woke up in the Arl's estate. When a Human cut down Nola, I knew we had nothing to loose. Then they killed Nelaros, I never wanted to be married, but he didn't deserve that. I took his wedding ring as a keep sake. i.imgur.com/rvuPeGO.jpgWe were too late to prevent Shianni from being gang raped i.imgur.com/yedfc0k.jpgBut we could dish out retribution. i.imgur.com/t1GINmz.jpgWhen we got back home, I said we might have to lay low a while, but the guards showed up immediately, and only the grey warden stepping in stopped them from taking me in. Only now I was to become a grey warden myself. i.imgur.com/o5GCzAW.jpgI only had time for a quick goodbye to my father. He said my mother would have been pleased, but he had planned a quieter life for me. Adaia was always a bit wild. i.imgur.com/D7AiGYO.jpgAnd to Shianni. i.imgur.com/gnsYpHV.jpg

So, it may be my phone trying to save me data even though I'm totally connected to my work's WIFI.
But all of you guy's imgur pics are just links to me. are they supposed to be just links? I way prefer the embedded pictures under spoilers. If my vote matters. Bit again. Maybe it's my phone.
Yesterday, I tried to fire up a Daz3D to start working on a figure that would look like Zevran. I heavily underestimated the learning curve. I felt a bit defeated, but now I'm recalling how awful I was at video games when I first started trying to control movement and camera at the same time. Of I learn the program now, my DA fan graphic novel I have planned with eventually be quite swift. It's just initially, I have to learn, And make all my Dragon Age "Barbie dolls" a tad from scratch. Because the hair and clothes of Thedas is not "ken and Victoria at the beach".

From the diary of Kara Trevelyan.Spent the time 'finishing' the hinterlands. At least the eastern part. Ran into a crazy cult of people who were worshipping the breach. Asked me if i was the herald of andraste, i of course told them no, i was not the herald. Yet they still opened their doors so i could close a rift...at which point they promptly declared me the herald. This is getting most annoying. Though I am getting a profound sense of accomplishment visiting and helping the people of thedas.
Afterwards it was off to meet Fiona. I confess myself torn. Normally I would support the mages, I have my entire life. Yet this Tevinter Alexius? Time magic? I am way out of my depth. Perhaps it is better to court the devil you know, rather then the one you don't?
With that in mind I returned to Haven, hardly knowing what i'd do. But resolved to seek the Templars for help So, did all the pre work for Champions. Visited Dorian and Fiona in Redcliffe and did a smattering of other quests. What never botheredme before, but is now, just how many times i have had to deny, or defect,Kara's heraldhood.

So, it may be my phone trying to save me data even though I'm totally connected to my work's WIFI. But all of you guy's imgur pics are just links to me. are they supposed to be just links? I way prefer the embedded pictures under spoilers. If my vote matters. But again. Maybe it's my phone. I think it is probably your phone. I am posting as I always have, and when I view them in Internet Explorer 11, I see a 640x360 pixel image that I can click on twice to see full size. The top image of jdbuzz's post I see as 662x755, but clicking on it just closes it down. I have been putting quite a lot of images under one spoiler tag lately though, so maybe it's a memory thing. Could you see deadlydwarf's screenshot where he only has a single image? I should probably cut down on the number of screen shots. You have been placed in a queue, but your vote matters to us.

Your PC emerged from a catastrophic blast and from the Fade with an extraordinary power and a poor memory for what really happened. Many who know something about what happened at the Temple will think it all a miracle and your PC really can't definitively deny it. Put yourself in their shoes... My PCs generally just say I don't know. My current Dalish PC simply reminds people she's not even an Andrastian.

I know its realistic, especially given the technology of Thedas, but its still annoying.

Katriel and her companions completed operations in the Hissing Wastes with the discovery of the Dwarven Paragon, Fareil. i.imgur.com/iZbyGB0.pngThey found a sleeping Sandy Howler in front of the tomb. i.imgur.com/aa4ZTM2.png It didn't stay asleep for very long. Fortunately, Katriel and her team were wearing armor lined with asbestos! (Katriel's Battlemage armor was 70% fire resistant; no companion had less than 40% fire resistance. All had superb fire resistance belts as further protection.) i.imgur.com/Yk1VSZM.pngAfter a fierce battle, they vanquished the Sandy Howler and numerous dragonlings. They looted the body of the dragon and found some rather impressive gear. Of particular interest to Katriel was a set of Dalish High Keeper robes. They fit perfectly, but Katriel couldn't help but wonder who was the unfortunate keeper who originally owned these garments. (Hopefully not someone she knew!) She will definitely have to get this outfit washed and cleaned. i.imgur.com/BbDUd74.png As of now, Katriel has successfully cleared the Hinterlands, Crestwood, the Fallow Mire, and now the Hissing Wastes. She still has to finish of the remnants of the Freemen of the Dales in the Exalted Plain and the Emerald Graves. She also has reports of Red Templars at the Storm Coast and a couple of "special missions" on top of that.

On the picture thing, it's possible to put a picture in the post by just dropping a direct link from imgur without doing any coding. The picture then appears once the post is created. But if you quote the post and check the code, the picture turns back into a link. My guess is that the direct link tells the computer where to fetch picture and the coding option somehow stores the picture on the site. So the phone decides not to waste bandwidth by fetching the picture from the direct link, but is fine with showing the picture stored on the site. Which is probably also why if you click the direct link pictures on a computer, it opens the image in a new tab, but if you click the coded one, nothing happens. Granted, I have no idea how this really works, but it's a theory. As a small test, there are two links to the same image in the spoiler. One is direct and one is not. On a computer, both pictures should display, but on a phone the top one might be a link, while the bottom one will show. And uploading Josephine's sassy face was the only thing I did in DA today. Edit: Same seems to apply to photobucket. And I have no idea if the link eats more bandwith and am probably very wrong on that account. So it's probably better to say that the phone just wont fetch the image from a link for it's own personal reasons. Also Josephine is really Carver in disguise, since I'm deleting the imgur picture.

Finally got caught up! --Got a piece of Fade Touched metal that has +5 Guard on hit. I guess I have one more piece of armor to craft for Rowan. --Started JOH. I'm now at level 24. That area is tough, surprisingly so. I'm loving it for the most part. Nicely challenging, although I think the giant spiders have replaced bears as my most annoying enemy at this point. I also liked the one quest, where you find the missing scout. If you're curious as to what my final decision was in that quest, see the gif of Boo that I put up earlier. I hate demons. I hate abominations more. Poor bastards. --Created a new world state for a male IQ later. Now, if I can avoid making him looking like Prince Charming from Shrek, I'll be in good shape. Bonus screenshots! My smartass Hawke in the Fade. She looked the same in my game as here, only with longer hair: Morrigan, being her usual cheery self: Cole is working out his issues: And finally, a good game of Wicked Grace:

After returning from the Hissing Wastes, Katriel spoke to Iron Bull who relayed the Qun's desire for an alliance with the Inquisition. To initiate the alliance, the Inquisition needed to provide ground support to a Qunari dreadnaught that was attempting to intercept a merchant ship trying to smuggle red lyrium to the Templars and Venatori. Katriel showed up with her companions and Bull's Chargers. i.imgur.com/YmOVGHw.pngi.imgur.com/la0ahGL.pngWhen Bull's Chargers were about to be overwhelmed by a large group of Venatori mages, Katriel ordered them to retreat. The Venatori sank the dreadnaught...and the alliance between the Inquisition and the Qun. The Inquisition also had other situations to deal with on the Storm Coast. Darkspawn were appearing in increasing numbers and there were also reports of a large Red Templar base. Katriel and her companions sealed all tunnels that allowed Darkspawn to come to the surface. Their next operation would be to eliminate the Red Templar base.
