From the diary of Kara TrevelyanI have always loved the out foors. The forests, mountains around Ostwick, it was a chance to escape my life and the stodgy nobles of the city.
But I discovered that I hate the cold. And the wet. And swamps. Rain especially.
We went to a swamp of all things. In search of Inqisition soldiers, we found the soldiers. Captured. We had to free them before moving onto the breech.
I challenged the leader, and then killed him. A hostile Avarr, he went down easier then I expected. But it was funny that corpses and the wildlife on the way to the keep was tougher then ennvy and his initial batch of Red Templars.
Now off to seal the breach... Which has actually been done. But still in the middle of IYHSB, the middle of nowhere actually, so a diary entry would be not too accurate. But in the end of the day I also did *most* of what I intend to do in the Fallow Mire. I only want to do do 'these demons are clever', did everything else. Rescued the soldiers, did the becons, sealed both rifts, and recruited the Sky Watcher. It was funny, I wanted to pretty much just rescue the soldiers, but I wanted to be *at least* level 10 by the time I started IYHSB but I was still only half way through level 9. Quite surprised I could do so much in Fallow, so quickly, for so little gain. So I decided to go toe to toe with the 'endless' wave of skeletons outside. I was quite surprised that the endless wave of skeletons proved to not be quite so endless. So I did more quests, enough to get to the next level. And left. Onto INYHSB. And might I just say Fiona is one frustrating bitch. Knocking me down, and my companions. But I did not die even once. Not throughout the entire incident. Also contemplating writing small DA I fan fic. Watching Arrow has ind of been maing me think about the lack of story in the Inquisitr becoming one of their specializations. There should have been more to that particular quest.

I killed Lady Isolde for the first time to do the blood ritual to save Conner for my castless dwarf. He did it because, considering what demon!Conner is capable of, his ambitions, and that he was getting bored, it would be best to do something now. (Besides he hadn't even been to the Tower of Magi yet) Alistair just blew up at me, a moment ago and my boy told him at then end of it to quit his whining. Lost 34 approval points. Not going be friends I suspect. Not that it matters since he's probably going to turn Loghain into a Grey Warden, since he's a bit pragmatic. He's not a jerkass, but he will dish it back at you if you pick a fight with him or get on his nerves.

While in Emprise de Leon, Katriel came across the bodies of some dead elven adventurers who froze to death when the weather around Sahrnia suddenly turned cold. From looking at their journal, she found they were looking for the Blade of Sulevin, a legendary two-handed elven weapon. After taking the journal back to Skyhold, Inquisition scholars were able to piece together where the blade could be found: in the Cradle of Sulevin, a ruined temple near the Emerald Graves. Upon arriving at the temple, they soon found the blade had been broken into several pieces. To acquire each piece, Katriel and her companions had to fight a Revenant Demon. Once they killed all the Revenants and had all the pieces, they returned to Skyhold where Dagna was able to create a new weapon based on the broken original. After having the broken bridge repaired in the Exalted Plains, Katriel and her companions crossed the bridge and came upon the Citadelle of Corbeau, an old fort where forces loyal to Empress Celene were under siege from both demons and the undead and which was also threatened by an ancient elven magic spell which was supposed to protect the fort but which was now out of control. Initially, they killed the undead and then the Arcane Horror Demon guarding a pit full of dead bodies. Once the demon was dead, they set fire to the pit. i.imgur.com/kNniCFy.pngOnce the pits were alit, they made it to the top of the Citadelle and turned off the controls that unleashed the old elven defense magic. i.imgur.com/rtEXBLO.pngAfter securing the Citadel, Katriel and her team then pursued the final threat in the Exalted Plains: a Gamordan Stormrider High Dragon whose lair was in the Fens. i.imgur.com/Y88Pmfk.pngAfter a fierce battle, Katriel, Cassandra, Sera, and Dorian emerge victorious! With the Emerald Graves now completely clear, their next goal was to complete operations in the Emerald Graves.

deadlydwarf That is so incredibly sweet to name a bow after me. I'm genuinely touched, as geeky as that sounds. The masterwork bonus is pretty damned sexy on your bow. --I've finished all of JoH except for the dragon. I've got all of my frost resist gear. It was high enough to where the Old Temple (with the warmth "timer") didn't bother me. I was taking literally about 6 damage when there was no warmth on the timer. The boss was fun and I found his attempts to put out the fires adorable. Rowan's ranged and had her frost resist gear. 65% cold resist = I laugh at the boss. --The reveal was awesome. I had no idea that would be the result. I think it's funny that Amerdian and Rowan had a lot in common when it came to beliefs. "Who ever I was before is long gone now." --Discovered the Murderer's Gold at the Lady's Rest. Now, it was obvious it was cursed. I saw the codex and I was on a haunted island. So I decided "screw it" and started harvesting the piles of gold. I saw things showing up on the mini-map but I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. Then I hear Cassandra crying out for Varric. I turn around...and there was a lot of despair demons at level 29-30. I was at level 25. I did the smart thing for once. Stealth and run like hell. I got away with 1300 gold, so it paid off. --Made another bow. I have two of them now that I keep on me. The second is from my schematic from Stone-Bear Hold. For the living: Fen'Harel's Fury228 dps +4 Cunning +4 Dexterity +93% Crit Bonus damage 10% chance of Immolate at 75% weapon power Superb Corruption Rune For the Undead: Andruil's Glory228 dps +124% crit damage (including grip) 10% chance of Hidden Blades on hit with 5 additional hits. Superb Cleansing Rune --I'm very happy with JoH. I also appreciate it when DA:I expands the overall lore of Thedas without necessarily needing Cory involved. The Avvar are a very interesting group, and I'm a little sad that we might not see them again at all. I think poor Cass was about to have a heart attack when she found out about the "teacher"/student relationship for mages. I sent the girl that didn't want to do the rite back to her people. Next time! --Killing the last dragon in southern Thedas. For really reals this time. --Off to the Deep Roads! --Start the searching for HoF war table mission before I leave town on Tuesday. I'm going to see the in-laws for Turkey Day.

We set up a fund for kick-starter business's for the alienage elves. i.imgur.com/jWXmKZ2.jpgOne of the first beneficiaries was my cousin Shianni. She started a company that makes shoes for the high end Orlesian market. Leliana somehow convinced Empress Celine to wear a pair, thus making them a must have item. They are elegant as only shoes made by an elf could be, and the use once nature of the shoe, meant they were a show of great wealth. Silver and gold filigree bodies, with tall finely tapered heals, made of the finest white porcelain. The toes are embellished with intricately shaped chocolate lace and fresh fruit, heavily glazed. The near vertical nature of the shoe, makes even the biggest hoof look small and delicate. The brittle nature of the heel, means one must keep their weight on the balls of the feet at all times. To aid in this, the inside of the heel is fitted with small sharp spikes which remind you not to rest your weight on your heels. On occasion, if blood was to be seen trickling down the white porcelain, it would be a cause of great mirth behind the masks of party goers. At the end of the evening one would remove the shoe and smear the toes embellishments on the belly of your partner. Then throwing the rest of the shoe at the fireplace, smashing it with an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. It was said that when eating the fruit off the belly of your lover, if it didn't taste sweet and delicious, it was proof of their infidelity. Forbidden fruit is the sweeter, no? The shoes come in both male and female versions, but to the untrained Barbarian eye, they appear identical. Once rumors got out the Duke Gaspard himself had invested in the company, Orlesian backers came flooding in. You could of course attend a ball in other shoes, if you didn't mind admitting you were a penniless, clumsy flatfooted turnip farmer, who's lover was a whore. Shianni's wealth is now said to rival that of many Banns. Although she has diversified in the fear that one day the Orlesian's will wake up to themselves. She drinks to it being a long way off.
King Alister was heard to say, "if only Cailan could have lived to see his dream of Orlesian gold enhancing the lives of Fereldens." Before saying, "this one goes on the left foot...right?"

Two random thoughts.
Isn't the Inquisitor being amage a huge liability?
And also. Legacy in Act 2 means your sibling can see Leandra one last time

@jdbuzz Thanks for reminding me that I had this in my imgur album: Note: Like with JoH, I'm going to avoid major spoilers unless they are marked. I do not want to ruin the surprise twists. I knocked out Descent earlier. I know that I could have brought Varric, but I didn't have the heart. He hates the wilderness, hates the traditional Orzamaar dwarfs and hates the Deep Roads even more. My character felt that Varric (and Hawke) had had enough of the Deep Roads to last several lifetimes. --I forgot how hard darkspawn could be. Especially those damn Genlock Alphas. I tasted the floor more in this DLC than I had the entire game. For the record, it tastes salty. With a touch of rancid milk. --Found 7/8 of the gates. I know I still have two expedition missions to go do. That'll probably be the last things I need to do. Truthfully, I think I'm done in there for this session. --DWARF MAGES!?!? I think I can die happy now. The DA team better not tease something like that and not deliver. --Happy dwarf dance! The Legion of the Dead, the Deep Roads, the lore behind the Stone. When DA:I first came out, this was exactly one of the DLCs I wanted to play. Since I know that there are devs that lurk here, thank you so much. --Then there was the final boss fight. That son of the bitch was the hardest fight I've had in this game yet without increasing difficulty or putting trails on. Even after I had increased everyone's melee, spirit and magic defense, I was getting my ass kicked. I gave up rezzing Bull early on in the fight. Dorian stayed alive longer and didn't get one shotted as soon as he stood up. By the time the bastard died, I had no healing potions, 2/6 rejuvenating potions (I get an extra slot as a Tempest) and one Jar of Bees. Everyone else was dead (Blackwall was the last to drop and he'd rezzed me three times) and I had two bars of life left. I defeated that monster and thought "I am an elven god! No wait, I left him at home this time." --Hit the level cap of 27. I have max experience, so I know that's that. It's an interesting cut-off number. This isn't a "soft" cap, meaning that you theoretically level up with exp coming in fractions. This is a permanent thing. <shrug> Now I know. I'm maxxed as a Tempest Archer, with a few points in stealth, and the Aegis of the Rift/Mark of the Rift maxxed too. --Edit: The two bows paid off. I used the high crit bow with the cleansing rune for the first half of Descent. It was awesome against Darkspawn. For the second half with the living mobs, I switched to my anti-living bow. Made things much easier, although I doubt there was any rune that could have helped with the final boss. Next Time! --Shiny elven puzzles --Morrigan finally being bitchy --"Who's Mythal?" No, I'm not picking that question --Rowan is about do Morrigan the biggest favor of her life --And Solas is going to be sad about it

@jdbuzz Thanks for reminding me that I had this in my imgur album: <snip> Every time I watch this last scene after the main story, I always wonder what that essence is Flemeth is sending through the eluvian. Is it Uthemiel's soul that she took from Kieran? That's if Morrigan conceived an old god child depending on the world state. Or is Flemeth releasing a part of her own and Mythal's powers before facing Solas?

I think it's the latter. Think about the quest to release Flemeth in DA2:
<paraphrasing> "All I needed was a tiny piece."
I think she put some of her own essence into the mirror for someone to find. She likely had Morrigan in mind. Flemeth acted like she knew that Fen'Harel was about to show up. She also acted like she knew what Solas was about to do. So I think she left a tiny piece of herself behind, caught in the magic of the eluvian. I think that's the case since it can happen regardless of the world state. I don't think the end of DA:I is going to be the last we hear from Flemeth.
I think Solas consumed the rest. The Old God soul (if applicable) and Mythal's. The swirling eyes when he takes Mythal's essence reminded me a lot of Anders/Justice (Vengeance.)

I think part of that power may be intended for Morrigan too, because if she drank from the well, Flemeth said to her, "Listen to the voices. They will teach you as I never did."

Sorry for all the tagging, but the quote system is screwing up on my Kindle.
I think it's funny that Morrigan-haters can basically lock her into her worst nightmare. It puts the "Slap Morrigan" mod from DA:O to shame. For those that don't know, one of the most popular mods for Origins allowed you to slap Morrigan any time you initiated a conversation with her at camp. Complete with a loss of affection so you could get her to hate your Warden very quick.
My Wardens mostly found Morrigan closer to a sister. I like the character and I don't think I could do that to her. I admit to some selfish glee when my characters drink the well. Morrigan looks like she's a little girl that just got told that no, she can't have that puppy. Only to find out that she almost got Cujo.
Of course, I thought it was funny when Garnet Cadash, rogue and dwarf extraordinaire, drank the Well. That was my first character, and much more of an agnostic than Rowan is. This time, it makes sense to drink the magic water. My elf has the branches of Mythal on her face. It's invisible with her skin tone, but it's there.
I'll probably be able to get that done before tomorrow night. I have to get some sleep early tomorrow so I can go see the in-laws for Thanksgiving (Thursday.) I'm excited about seeing my oldest nephews. They're cool kids.

And now for something completely different. The cast of DA:O, rocking it Gangnam Style. For those of you that choose to pretend that song ever existed, no need to thank me. I'm a helper! The person that did this mod used the "Thriller Dance Mod" for some of the movement options. I'll quit screwing around after this. Promise.

So, there I was trying to learn the 3D rendering program and getting pretty irritated (I guess I was expecting the sort of User Interface DAI has except for a whole body) when I realized that all this mouse work was irritating my carpal tunnel. So, I printed off a rough comic book page. And below the spoiler is my two page storyboard of a scene I've had in my head for over a week. Don't expect lovely drawing. Definitely because my drawing skills suck, I will tell you what's happening. It's set just before the Harrowing of the Warden Surana. Ellowen Surana is studying in a nook between two stone columns at the Circle Tower's port, wearing a cloak for warmth in the semi darkness as she lays against the cool stone. We never see the port in game, but there is that big stone bridge and the boats have to go somewhere. So, I actually imagine that there is a stone port underneath the bridge where the boats are docked. Then you walk out and around to the front door of the tower. (This may be in the book The Stolen Throne) She is sitting where the Templar on watch is sitting (they're gone for reasons). Off screen, Anders has set fire in multiple places around and outside the tower as he makes it for the docks to steal a row boat. He doesn't know Ellowen is there, so when she hears a noise in the top right box, she stands up and locks gazes with Anders. That's the last bottom panel of the first page. She quickly takes in the scene on the second page, top left: Anders is holding a rope to the little row boat. I actually thought I did okay on the rowboat (shape, water, horizon), but Anders is pretty much a blob in that panel because I kept messing up, so don't expect you recognized that. I didn't want the top right panel, so it's an X Then it's a close up of Ellowen on the left. I imagine with better drawing skills that she will have a contemplative frown as she decides how she wants to react. On the right, Anders is definitely frowning, considering his options. Will he attack her if she sounds the alarm? But then she promptly turns around and silently leaves with her book. Anders half smiles, realizing she's letting him escape. I then have words at the bottom, Ellowen's thoughts: "Though our paths may differ, we all seek freedom." This is a reference to my character's decision to be the best mage via book learning so as to earn rights to leave the tower; her chosen path to freedom. I also had a 5 hour drive listening to GMVs of Dragon Age with a lot of diaglogue from Fenris/Hawke and Solas/Lavellan so got to hear them talking a lot, and pretty much day dreamed/wrote my fan comic book/graphic novel in my head.

--"Who's Mythal?" No, I'm not picking that question Sadly, you don't get a choice in the matter since it's auto-dialogue. The only way I know to avoid it (other than closing your eyes and plugging your ears during that scene) is to use the "Yes we know about Mythal" mod. I don't mind my non-elfy Inquisitors being ignorant, but I always use it now when I play an elf.
Except for my first character, a rogue, all my elf quizzies drank from the Well. Despite being bound to Mythal and possibly Solas, I still love telling Morrigan to stfu since I have the power of the Well and she doesn't. She gets so bent out of shape about it, it's hilarious.

Katriel and her companions finished operations in the Emerald Graves. Much of their effort was spent closing the numerous rifts that threatened those living in the region. i.imgur.com/ozSV6C1.pngThey also came across an abandoned residence, Chateau d'Onterre, which they found was infested with demons. i.imgur.com/FZpgLnS.png(Gamer note: I do find the generic dead bodies annoying. This, I believe, was supposed to be the body of the unfortunate owner of the mansion.
Does it still do that? Lately, my Dalish PC has been given dialog choices where she can demonstrate her knowledge as a Dalish elf. Did they really forget to do that for the Temple of Mythal? Does the "Yes we know about Mythal" mod work well?

Pretty much.
As soon as you get to Arbor Wilds, Morrigan says based on what she's heard, they have found the Temple of Mythal. Without the mod, the Inquisitor automatically asks, "Which is?" and Morrigan elaborates. Then there's an explosion and they both turn in that direction. With the mod, "Which is?" and Morrigan's response are both skipped and the scene goes right from her mentioning the temple to the explosion.
Later in the temple, if you click on the mosaics, without the mod the Inquisitor will ask questions like, "Who is this supposed to be?" and Morrigan will respond. With the mod, Morrigan still says her thing if you click on the mosaics (and you of course should to get the codex entries!) but the Inquisitor doesn't ask the initial questions. The rest of the dialogue options stay the same.
Anyone not an elf obviously isn't out of place not knowing these things, but a Dalish, especially one in line to be Keeper, should most definitely know them.
I think those are the only two changes it makes. More info will be in the Nexus description of it.

Not done today but a few weeks ago. Forgot to upload the last few screenshots from Emma's game.
Obligatory, "Dammit Anders!"
Carver wasn't bugged this time around so he got to join in the end game fun.
Fen-mance!
The whole gang.
Emma was such a bleeding heart do-gooder that sometimes I would just cringe. But I really like her last line there.

From the Diary of Kara Trevelyan. The last week has been a whirlwind. I am currently writing this from a new location, far to the west of Haven. Solas calls this place Skyhold, to me, I hope I can call it safe...perhaps one day home.
But I am getting ahead of myself. For if any future historians read this they will wonder why I am writing in Slyhold and not Haven.
We were attacked. By a being known as Corypheus. We were driven from Haven and left to rot. I was defeated. I was nearly killed. We lost way too many people. Adan for starters.
Afterwards, being rescued by the Inquisition, I was so scared. So helpless. But then Giselle began singing...and now I am the Inquisitor reborn.
It seems so crazy doesen't it? So yeah, finished IYHSB. It was exciting as ever. But some of the aftermath wasn't. Lol. I am trying to find fade touched materials, now that I can craft masterworks, so figure might as well use them. Except I had terrible luck finding anything that fits with Kara's style...or any fade touched materials to begin with. So ended up crafting a bow and a set of armor for Kara, named the Crimson Dragon for the bow and the Inquisitor's coat for the coat. Then new armor for Cassandra and bow upgrades for Varric. So yeah off to meet Hawke then Crestwood.

melbella Ah, forgot about that. Well, I just won't click on Mythal's engraving then. I need to remember that this game is from an EA company. The same publisher that had the main character ask "What's a paladin" in the 10th installment of the Ultima series. And the player character is a paladin.

@jdbuzz I think it's the latter. Think about the quest to release Flemeth in DA2: <paraphrasing> "All I needed was a tiny piece." I think she put some of her own essence into the mirror for someone to find. The swirling eyes when he takes Mythal's essence reminded me a lot of Anders/Justice (Vengeance.) I see what you mean. I think part of that power may be intended for Morrigan too, because if she drank from the well, Flemeth said to her, "Listen to the voices. They will teach you as I never did." I see it as looking too much into it,Flemeth never said to have left anything for Morrigan, she only gave to her something in the Altar of Mythal if the Inquisitor used the well of sorrow,in any other scenario she give nothing to Morrigan.

Figures. I'm leaving town tomorrow and now we're getting snow. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't about to take a 4 hour trip up north. Into a state with some of the nastier weather in the country. Anyway... --Completed the Arbor Wilds. I did the Petitoner's Path rather than jumping after Samson. I think the story is more organic that way. It didn't take me long to do them. Memories of doing those puzzles originally came back to me, which is nice. Usually I have a pretty poor short attention span. --Rowan drank from the Well. I liked her comment to Morrigan when the witch was getting bitchy. "It's my heritage!" I really like Cory's "Oh crap" look when he sees the glowing Inquisitor or Morrigan. I also thought it was nice that the player (and possibly Varric) could watch how Cory body jumps. It was icky, but a neat trick. --I'm such a Flemeth fangirl. When I heard her voice in my first character's head, I think I squealed with delight out loud. melbella I didn't have to ask "Who's Mythal?" Morrigan will explain it no matter what. The only time the question came up was when I was able to talk to Morrigan at the temple. I ignored the question. The Mythal fresco isn't available to click on until after Morrigan flies to the Well. I did see Rowan talk about "This Mythal" like she'd never heard of it before, but thank goodness I didn't have to hear her ask who Mythal was. --Okay, so I screwed up here again. I went to talk to Solas after Rowan got back. I noticed that there was one too many answers that irritated him and I had no urge to watch the characters bicker. I skipped through the dialogue, not realizing that the major romance scene for a Solasmance was about to kick in. Thankfully, it had autosaved before I had talked to him. I can talk to him after my husband is done playing AC: Black Flag.
