olnorton you kill me sometimes with the way you put things. I can't take credit for that phoray, it's what Shianni says when she first meets a shem warden, before she realizes your the ones who saved Soris. Back at Eamon's, Anora proposed an alliance. I said as long as she understood her father must pay for his crimes, I have no problem with her staying on the throne, and I'm sure Alister would prefer it. i.imgur.com/Mt9UUlV.jpgI got a laugh out of Morrigan, she is still dressed in the chantry robes from the prison rescue. She said "If one more servant asks if I want a change of clothes, I'll set this house on fire." Maybe she harbours a secret desire to be a sister. i.imgur.com/ByvCHLY.jpgSer Cauthrien and some of Loghain's elite guard wanted to stop us from entering the Landsmeet. But even she conceded that Loghain had gone too far, and asked us to show mercy. i.imgur.com/yXScxDo.jpgLoghain gave a rousing speech, but he just didn't have the numbers. In spite of Anora turning on us, nearly all the nobles stood by us. i.imgur.com/k6o64fG.jpgLoghain wouldn't except the decision of the Landsmeet and Bann Alfstanna said it would be decided by single combat. i.imgur.com/LMRSCW1.jpgI said I would fight as Alister's champion. i.imgur.com/tTpmyIU.jpgWhen Loghain was defeated, Riordan said we should put him through the joining. I said, you claimed you couldn't induct more wardens, were you lying about not having Archdemon blood, or lying about needing it? Either way, Loghain has to die. i.imgur.com/FZv46lf.jpgI gave the task to Alister. i.imgur.com/044Ux7W.jpgWith Alister King, we are finally ready to face the darkspawn. i.imgur.com/zwuApmo.jpg

Wow. This was such cool timing that I'm pausing my game to share this with you guys. I'm knocking out the Chargers v Qun quest as we speak. I just put Solas back into my party for the first time since about level 6. Solas chewed out Gatt for joining the Qun. Then I took care of the last pack of Vints. I'm going to hit the horn but I stopped. The banter between Solas and Bull about Bull being a spy and that other governments don't control what people think and act just fired off. Curious timing, since I'm about to save the Chargers right about...now. Edit: I'm just about everyone's best friend in the game now. Except Solas. He's a hard nut (egg?) to crack. Given that my current PT is a Solasmance, I should've done that! Instead, I treated this episode as a throwaway and had my second string companions with me. My PC did have a thoughtful discussion with Gatt about elven Qunari, which is better than previous PTs where the highlight was Gatt calling Iron Bull Hisrod or "Liar." If you take Dorian you can hear him and Gatt grumble at each other too. It makes sense since the two nations have been at war for a very long time. I've never taken both of them at once though.

Morrigan had a cunning plan. I tell you, the things you have to do when your a Grey Warden. I wanted to just travel with Leliana, but it seems there's trouble brewing in Amaranthine. And the Grand Cleric herself has asked to speak with Leliana, so she won't be accompanying me.

--So far I've found only two judgements that everyone likes. One is banishing the Avvar tribe to Tevinter, the other is sending the Templar Knight-Commander back to the Templars to be judged by them. That's what I wanted to do and I was relieved to see nothing but various amounts of approval coming from the companions. Knight Captain Denam is usually an automatic execution. I hate him just as much as that Tevinter Magister Diva Erimond. But the thing with Erimond is if you're a mage Inquisitor, make him tranquil and watch him whine as he's dragged out of the throne room.

From the Diary of Kara Trevelyan: And so we marched. Me and Cullen led a force from Skyhold in the North, Leiliana led a small force from Crestwood, and Knight Captain Rylen led a force from Griffon Wing, closing off the back door. Together we included up to 3000 men in our column. How many will the Wardens have?
Together the road to there, despite the forced march, was easy. The only problem was an Orlesian Boarder guard caught us and chagllenged our authority to traverse his lands. I threatened him and Josephine assured him we meant no threat.
Now we are a mile from Adamant, waiting for the sun to sink in the sky. Soon, we assault the Keep itself. May the Maker watch over us. Soooo I am actually in the Fade right now. Been assaulting the Keep, and am right now hunting all the Fears for all the dreamers and get them all done so I can get the Essence of Perfection, which is pretty vital for my freaking long bow, because, you know...reasons. Not much to say. I have just used up one potion so far so it seems most unlikely Kara is getting her scar back. At least yet (oh well). But I am still having a lot of fun.

Just finished JOH. For those who haven't done it, the following has spoilers! Katriel and her companions alternated between providing various forms of assistance to the Storm Bear Hold Clan and clearing various locations of malevolent Jaws of Hakkon cult. These two tasks end up intersecting when they find that Storvaker, a bear that serves as the Stone-Bear Hold's Hold Beast has been caged by the JOH, who planned on sacrificing the bear to free the dragon, Hakkon Winter's Breath, which had been trapped in the ice in a large Tevinter temple ruin. JOH spellbinders had mastered ice magic and were now able to pass through the ice to begin a lengthy ceremony to free the Dragon. Freeing Storvakker would only delay the accomplishment of this task. But how to get into the Temple?
After clearing the JOH out of another set of ruins, they find a shrine which had been set up by Ameridan himself. They find documents and inscriptions indicating that Ameridan had been sent to the Frostbacks by the first Orlesian Emperor, Drakkon, to kill the Dragon to prevent it from ravaging the rest of Thedas. This contrasted with legends that had him hunting beasts for sport. They also find within this ruin a switch that summoned energy intended to thaw the frozen temple. They activate the switch at the ruin and then have to hit switches as other relay stations until they reach the temple, which they find is heavily guarded.
Katriel then returns to the Stone Bear Hold clan leader for help and they agree upon a plan. Inquisition forces will act as a decoy to draw away some of the Hakkonites. The leader of Stone Bear-Hold agrees to lead a force that will scale the walls of the temple and defeat those guarding it. Katriel and her companions will then deal with those inside.
Once inside, they find themselves fighting not just Hakkonites, but magic shards of ice that threaten to freeze them solid. They reach the final group of Hakkonites led by the clan leader, Gurd Harofsen. Before they can defeat all of them, Harofsen turns into a Revenant, able to summon the undead. Once he is defeated, however, they find that they are too late to stop the thawing of the dragon. But before the dragon comes too life, they find that Ameridan himself has been freed from the ice, and too everyone's shock -- he is both an elf and a mage! His remaining time is brief, but they exchange information over what has happened over the last 800 years, giving Ameridan closure and Katriel -- a sense of revelation.
Since joining the Inquisition, she had always felt out of place in an organization largely consisting of humans that worshipped the Maker and Andraste. In Ameridan, she saw an elf who spoke with reverence about both the elven gods AND Andraste. The fact that the first Inquisitor was also a Dalish elven mage left her feeling vindicated and with a sense that she truly belonged with the Inquisition.
Katriel and her companions then pursue the escaped dragon.
The dragon is fierce, but her team is experienced. Soon the dragon is defeated and the Frostback Basin is saved. They return to historian/archeologist, Kenric, and tell him of all that has passed INCLUDING the truth about Ameridan. He is an honorable man who will share these discoveries with the rest of Thedas. Perhaps this will help restore a relationship of mutual respect between elves and humans that Andraste and Shartran intended? One could only hope...
Gamer notes: This is the first DLC I've completed for DAI. A neat story overall that adds to the lore of DA. Very linear though...no major decisions or choosing sides; very black and white. I completed the Cory storyline before starting JOH. Now going back to Skyhold is a bit somber because no one has anything to say. I suppose a good thing to know before starting the DLC is which voice actors for the companions signed on to do extra dialogue. I had Cassandra, Dorian, and Sera for most of this DLC. Some of the banter I heard was a bit dated; as if Cory was still the key threat. Only in the end... when the PC was talking with Ameridan were the other companions drawn in in any way. Cassandra spoke up and was shocked that Ameridan was not only an elf, but a mage as well. I introduced them and Cass was very appreciative of the truth. Otherwise, Dorian made sporadic references to the Tevinter ruins here and there; Sera made a reference to pride cookies. (This, even though my PC never got all that chummy with Sera and never went up on the roof with her.) It might be useful for those of you who've completed JOH to mention who was in your party and whether they had any special interactions/responses to what was going on in the DLC. Next time, I may start JOH before killing Cory so I could bring Solas there to see if he has anything special to add. Also, the area is filled with Tier 3 and even some Tier 4 materials. Opening up the area immediately after arriving at Skyhold might help with crafting weapons and armor.

I assigned Leliana the How could you wartable mission one time and she swiftly silenced those protesting mages

I feel so sad.
I haven't Tranquilized Erimund as far as I recall. HE's so truly unsaveable, I think I will fix that lack soon. He is the only person I executed last game, but last game I was a rogue, and so magically( or less magically) don't have the information to do so.

I've tranquilized him once and executed him once. Every other time I give him to the Wardens, who probably also execute him, or maybe make him do the Joining.

I could never have even Erimond made Tranquil. I'm against the practice to the point that none of my characters could do it. I did watch his reaction on YouTube. I'd rather chop the son of a bitch's head off and be done with it.

I'd rather chop the son of a bitch's head off and be done with it. And there I was enjoying his horrified expression, when he screamed, "I will not lose myself!" And then internally flinched. Ugh. Fine. Death for him. It's another judgment that everyone likes. Even he's happy with dying. It's a win for everyone! --For the first time I did not get the Haven Fade sequence with Solas. Apparently you need higher affection earlier on in order to get that. Oh well. He doesn't hate my character and Valena is gaining his approval. I dragged him around with me to the Exalted Plains. That's helped some. I'm about done out there. --I keep forgetting about the Garden. Despite her faith, she wanted something more utilitarian than a Chantry garden. I have herbs I've planted that I need to pick up. --Tip for those that want to have high approval with Solas without dragging him around all the time: Take him through the Hinterlands and finish the zone with him. Between asking questions, doing good deeds and finding his artifacts, he'll like your character in no time. Since I didn't do that early on, I'm finding it a little more difficult to get him to friend status. I don't think it'll take too much more. --I have a lot left to do before Adamant. I haven't stepped into Crestwood yet. I've thought about it....and I'm going to have my character exile the Wardens. She didn't have any family nor friends that were surviors of the Blight. She knew it happened but it never hit her personally in any way. She also knows that the Wardens were exiled from Ferelden and that the only reason why they weren't allowed back was due to Loghain's hatred of Orlais. In other words, should the need arise, the actual leaders of Ferelden and Orlais can decide to overturn the Inquistion's judgment. They just might anyways since the Inquisition will eventually be depowered or disbanded. For now, they are a threat and a liability for fighting Corypheus. This isn't easy for me as a player to do, but Valena isn't me.

Murder Nun? I can see it if you don't soften her. She acts more than a bit touched otherwise. Did you go whole hog on your world state and have her defeated by the Warden?
My Cadash decided to talk her down. Garnet was nice but saw Leliana like a cat with it's back arched up. Don't touch her and keep a soft gentle voice. Easy there, Princess McStabby Stab. Too many years with too many jumpy clients that needed the Carta's services. I'm about to fire back up DA:I. I still need to catch up on Josie's dialogue tree, tell Varric to create another Swords and Shields and I need to go talk to Sutherland. He'll be in the tavern by now. Once I finally leave it's off to VR for info on Calpurina. I played Templar side once about 18 months ago so this will almost be like a new quest for me. olnorton Herb farming is a bit of a pain but ignore the damn shards. I hate those things so much. I doesn't help that my first 3 times playing this game I played on PC. Platforming with those controls still makes my eye twitch to this day. I found it to be little more than forced exploration for not enough of a reward. The zone those can unlock is a maze and extremely annoying. Not sure if this question was directed at me since I called her a murder nun? If so...no, my warden didn't kill Leliana (although she did kill Zevran). For some reason, even though I tried to make the warden for this worldstate as much of a jerk as possible, Leliana still really liked her. I can't figure out why...it wasn't just the gifts, because I only gave her the ones that prompted extra dialogue. My warden also didn't destroy the ashes because she didn't want to take the word of a bunch of delusional cultists (so, not out of any sense of reverence or altruism), so that kind of sealed her "friendship" with Leliana

It's a misapplied tool and one that should never ever be done without the mage's consent. Like the codex in DA2 that talked about a 11 year old girl that begged for it to make the dreams stop. There were others that will choose that. It isn't the choice for my characters to make for others. That feeling only grew after Trespasser and talking to the first Inquisitor. I don't care about Erimond. It sounds silly to say but I care about what kind of message my IQ is saying to the masses. It won't matter come the next game but it matters to me now. Edit: I'm not giving Ermond a second chance. I kill him every time. I won't take away his mind though. Blood magic is another form of magic like opiates are another form of a pain pill. You can use it a responsible way as a benefit. It's also easy to get addicted to. I think Dorian's take on it about power leading to a hunger for more sums it up. I don't think all blood mages are evil killers. Merrill was a very kind hearted and gentle soul. Sadly, she's the only clearly defined canon blood mage that is clearly a very good person. I know about Malcom Hawke, but it seems like his use of blood magic was only to bind Corypheus. And that's after Larius threatened a then-pregnant Leandra if Malcom refused. I'd call blood magic the most dangerous magic to use but not the most "evil." ...I do find it funny to have this friendly debate with a hardcore Anders fan.

I have always found the terrible tool the tranquilizing, against the innocent/salvageable people, in the hand of people who able to abuse with this tool – this is the final solution, just as the death penalty. But Erimond is really dangerous. (And he can be useful as a Tranquil – hehe that sounds like qunari... ) And yes, I thought about it alot, but I still find it right. Trevelyans did it, Lavellan and Aadhaar choosed the decapitation.

I made a new character. Her name is Thir, and she's an elf (warrior? She uses a sword) Weeeew it's been way too long since I played this game. Anyway, I'll post a picture of her somewhere later. It took me forever to re-download all of the mods I use on my new computer, and then character customization took me like an hour, so nya know...

You also have to consider that the only way to remove Erimond as a tool for Corypheus to use is to make him tranquil. Imprisoned, Cory can still contact him via the fade (or conventionally with spies). Dead, Cory can haul his spirit up from wherever to glean info. Tranquil Erimond is of no use to him at all. The best though, is when Cole calls him an asshole.

The best though, is when Cole calls him an asshole. It's stated by both the Chantry and the Dalish that the souls of the dead pass through the Fade. It's not the land of the dead just the land of spirits and dreams. The only true ghosts I remember seeing in the Fade in the series was the Baroness quest back in DA:A. Besides, Cory probably doesn't care. Erimond failed so he is to be discarded. Like any tool. I would never send him back to the Wardens. I agree it's too dangerous, same with imprisonment. Cory can't go into the realm of the dead or where ever souls in Thedas end up. --I found myself grumbling earlier. I did the puzzle at Dead Hand near the Crow Fens in the Exalted Plains. That's the one where you have your companions light all the torches and light up all four pillars in the center. The puzzle itself isn't the issue. It's the fact that the stupid hold command randomly breaks even in Tac Cam mode. I got it done but I hope that's better in the next game. --Started looking into Calpurina's crystal shards. I honestly find her a more sympathetic antagonist than Samson is. He's more pitiable than anything else. --Now I'm kinda hanging round Skyhold while Josie finishes up securing favors to negate the assassin's contract. I'll be firing back up the game in a bit and knock out Sera's personal mission. I will make the conversation brief. I've seen first hand if you talk too long. I did, once. Yikes. Sera has a whole combo platter worth of issues. She needs anger management ASAP.
