I accidentally romanced Zevran. I thought I went to a previous save before I said the romance initiate dialogue, but nope. And the only other save I could go to would require me to redo the whole Paragon of her Kind quest. So... sorry Zevran but I want to romance someone new.

So just completed Here Lies the Abyss with my human mage. Left my aggressive rogue Hawke behind, while Loghain leads the exiled Wardens now. Kinda awkward as my Inquisitor is romancing Blackwall.

So, here's a question.
Every time Hawke said we took ship in Gawaren, I always imagined it to be on the northern coast of Fereldan. But I was looking at maps the other day, and what they did instead is go nearly as far to the south east- south of the Brecilian Forest even. And that's where Gwaren is.
Seems a bit weird, the shortest boat ride is going to be to the north.

phoray I don't think the lore has darkspawn sailors or pirates, so it might have been safer to take a longer journey by sea rather than risking a shorter road on land. Also, if no one has the taint when boarding the ship, there is less chance of Hawke and co getting infected. Flemmeth knows spells that can control trees and animals, has connections with the Dalish and she wants Hawke to reach Kirkwall alive and well, so she might have been able to create a relatively save path through the Brecillian forest to Gwaren, that would be quicker and safer than taking the road to Highever or Denerim. Especially since the group hasn't got any horses with them. Or at least, that's my theory. No wait. They had the idea before meeting her. Maybe someone miscalculated the distance between Lothering and the cities near the sea. Or they knew some more hidden roads to Gwaren they had more hope for evading the darkspawn? Or Leandra was just using the same logic as taking one or two mage blood children to a city that has a notoriously many templars and a very harsh circle.

Today, I was out in Hafters Woods near the fortress and I found a dog...? Or is it a wolf? Anyway, it won't move... It's just stuck here.

I couldn't understand most of what they said but it was nice to see them getting along for once. It's better than Solas coldly rejecting Dorian's overtures of friendship. That particular bit of banter made me a little sad. I wanted to give Dorian a big hug. --I've got all of the Western Approach finished except for the dragon and meeting up with Hawke. I parked myself in the Undercroft so I can make some more fire resist gear for the dragon. After that, I'm going to break tradition and do Abyss before I do WHWM. Romancing Solas must be really great storywise and ... painful What path did you chose? I chose the redemption path, I think there are much more to see from him. Not for my Trevelían. He's love only platonic. Willard lonely. (But Josie was lovely, when tried to cheer up him in the Winter Palace.) Oh Maker, I understand you so much, as much I love Iron Bull and Dorian, Bioware owe the lgbta male community the Knight in Shining Armour type for male romance option, Cullen was the perfect choice, and the innuendos in the vanilla game are so solid (the lyrium scene is just ), not to mention some of the recorded audios. So your Inquie is single, Catilina?

I like him, probably my favorite, but I'm not sure about it (I usually don't have "headcanon" protagonist, the Inquisitors are all different, as my Wardens and Hawkes).

Shorter land trip though, which is what's important. It's also possible Flemeth flew them there (or close) and would be less likely to be spotted heading south over a forest as north over the plains. We don't actually know where the Hawkes are when the game starts. My best guess is somewhere southeast of Lothering, between the horde to the north and the forest to the south. They've been running but we don't know for how long or how far they managed to get.

We went to investigate the Bone Pit. Dragons had killed the miners. I'm not sure if Isabella is afraid of dragons, or she just likes holding my hand. I kinda hope it's the latter. We came back via the wounded coast and took a job hunting down some Qunari mercenaries. These ones were so foul that even other Qunari found them offensive apparently. They had killed a messenger, who was carrying Grey Warden documents. The Wardens can have their documents back, but I'm keeping the booze. Anything that smells this bad should have quite a kick to it.

No Hamin today, but loaded up Sabrae instead. She took Sera, Dorian and Vivienne out for a stroll and together they closed the remaining rifts on the Storm Coast and Forbidden Oasis. Also fetched some shards and went through all the Fire rooms in the Temple. With buffed up fire resistance they then headed to the Hinterlands, to shake their fists and shout at the Hinterlands dragon. She just laughed before her kids beat the party up and stole the little progress they managed to make in the Dragon sector. Was going to seek some inspiration from Bull at Haven, but Sabrae hasn't recruited him yet. So she did a short chat round between the companions she had recruited, assigned some tasks on the war table and then went to bed, to debate whether she should attack the dragon again or see to the group of angry people marching in the distance. On the glitch side, the camera freaked out when it saw the spiders in the Storm Coast cave and started spinning in circles, not stopping until all the spiders were dead. Usually it's the player that suffers from the acrophobia. But at the same time, these were some tough spiders. Should have captured them and sent them at the dragon. Who would be laughing then? And for fun and reference, a picture of Sabrae and Hamin. Sabrae is the grumpy one.

I took a break from Alexandra's run in DAI and played Skyrim Special Edition for the first time. Fun game so far. As my first character, I decided my canon Inquisitor Natalia, crossover to Skyrim. I made her a dual wield mage/warrior Imperial.

Started Descent yesterday and finished it today. Whereas JOH was challenging up until the dragon fight at the end, Descent was too easy for my Level 27+ Inquisitor. I should've started this before JOH. Is there any agreement on what order you should do the various areas after arriving at Skyhold to avoid the leveling up problem? Any areas that should be skipped or touched only lightly since they aren't all that important to the story? Also, with respect to the companions, which ones should you take to which DLC? For Descent, logically, I took Blackwall since he's destined to be a GW and thought he might make appropriate comments. Also took Varric to see if how he would react to the "children of the stone." In both cases, not much worth mentioning. A comment going into the Deep Roads and a comment coming out. Otherwise, nothing but dated banted from the companions. (By contrast, having Cassandra in JOH proved interesting especially late in the DLC.) Anyhow, the highlight of Descent: While exploring the Deep Roads in search of the source of seismic activity that threatens the mining of lyrium and Orzammar in general, Katriel and her companions come across an invisible bridge that leads to a cave....filled with nugs. i.imgur.com/8hteRue.pngAt the far end of the cave is what appears to be either an altar or a rather small throne. Katriel leaves an appropriate offering. i.imgur.com/7cHTbD9.pngTo the shock of Katriel and her companions, who should appear but the legendary nug king! i.imgur.com/nDexzuk.pngAfter having passed judgement on so many as the Inquisitor at Skyhold, Katriel now finds herself being judged! Fortunately, none of her team was wearing nugskin armor. And Katriel did push to have Leliana made the Divine. So instead of being nipped to death, the Nug King let them off with a warning. i.imgur.com/TxnZgMJ.png

Decided to try the Fereldan Frostback at level 10 (hard with even ground on), and was mightily slaughtered by her, though her babies were easy.*** I know people have defeated her on nightmare at lower levels, so evidently I just suck? I am in the process of crafting better fire-resistant gear for my party, and a better frost staff for Dorian -- and frost runes, if I can -- so I can try again. I'm trying to gain more approval from Iron Bull because I want to start the romance content, and supposedly I need a dragon's tooth? Unlike many of the other companions, he has NOTHING new to say upon arriving at Skyhold, which I had forgotten about. Also got to hear what was found in Calpernia's crystal. I wish there were a lot more content here, but it was cool regardless. ***I had to headcanon that the dragon was terrorizing Redcliffe, otherwise I feel really bad killing her. She pretty much minds her own business until you mess with her.

Varric seemed a bit more chatty in Descent with Bruenor, a fellow dwarf, than with a non-dwarf Inquisitor, but that could just be because I just finished playing it. No one really has much to say though since Renn and Valta have scripted lines. I usually bring Blackwall for the Warden/darkspawn connection but this time I took Cass instead since she had better armor. Dorian was my 3rd companion - I usually take him everywhere once he's recruited. Solas needs time to paint anyway.
Cass is a must for me in JoH for the seeker convo at the end. I also like Dorian for it. Bull and Sera have some good lines too.
As for leveling, are you playing with Even Ground turned on? I really like this trial since it makes even cannon fodder enemies level up to match you. Without it, I agree, it is far too easy to outlevel everything and roflstomp through entire zones, even on NM. Pair it with Take It Slow (gain XP at half the normal rate) and you won't even hit the max by the end of the game. For additional challenge, turn on Walk Softly (enemies gain bonus abilities, both defensive and offensive). That one can just be annoying sometimes, though.
As for zone order, I tend toward:
Pre-Skyhold:
Hinterlands except for level 12 rifts/dragon area VR - recruit Sera and Vivienne Storm Coast, recruit Iron Bull Fallow Mire IHW or CotJ Oasis if feel like it Finish up Hinterlands except for dragon (unless I'm feeling adventurous) IYHSB
Post-Skyhold:
Crestwood Western Approach HLTA (if I'm doing it first) Oasis (if I didn't go there already) Exalted Plains Descent (once I hit lvl 16 and can also do Red Water) Emerald Graves WEWH Emprise du Lion HLTA (if not done before WEWH) Hissing Wastes WPHW (Arbor Wilds) End game JoH Trespasser
Mixed here and there are the companion quests, various dungeons once they are unlocked (Di'nan Hanin, Temple of Dirthaman, Cradle of Sulevin) and the nemesis quest line.

--Finished the Fredrick questline and took the Abyssal dragon. I brought along Bull for his line. That particular dragon is only annoying. She doesn't stun, she doesn't fly off and she has no adds to deal with.
--Then I did something that I hadn't done before. I went straight from the Western Approach to Adamant at level 17. I couldn't see my warrior being the type to go deal with a fancy ball and just let the thing with the Wardens left hanging. When she got back to reality, she chewed the Wardens out and threw them out of southern Thedas. This was also after leaving Stroud behind. Valena is a devout Andrastian and was (in my mind) crying a little bit when she got her memories back. She was very pissed off and wants them gone.
--Sera disapproved of me banishing the Wardens, which I thought was a little odd. I got the approval back when I had Blackwall stay. "Your loyalty is never in question, Blackwall." <snicker> So I guess Sera was more upset that Blackwall might take off.
--Bull, Blackwall (duh) and Dorian didn't approve of me kicking out the Wardens. Thankfully Dorian and Valena have been close since they met; Bull thinks she kicks a lot of ass; and I've still got more items to get for Blackwall so he can maintain his cover.
--Now, I knew that Solas was going to approve of me doing that. Apparently I finally got enough approval to get the Haven Fade sequence. This is the longest that it's taken for me to get that scene. I usually get it right after I hit Skyhold. Now hopefully his personal quest will trigger.
Next time, off to Emprise du Lion. Time to see remaining active front of the civil war before putting on party clothes.
This is my usual zone order:
Haven Hinterlands til I can recruit. Grab Sera, Bull, Blackwall and Vivi Back to the Hinterlands except for the dragon Fallow Mire IHW or CotJ Storm Coast Hinterland dragon IYHSB
Skyhold Exalted Plains Oasis if I bother to unlock it Crestwood Western Approach Emprise du Lion WHWM HLTA Emerald Graves Hissing Wastes Emprise du Lion dragons Arbor Wilds JoH Descent End Trespasser
I like having Solas around for JoH. I didn't take Varric with me to the Deep Roads last time so I will this time.

I spent way too many hours trying to made a DA2 looking DAO Merrill. I think you would need some sort of ported head shape. She came out cute, she just doesn't look like Merrill. But then, she doesn't sound anything like her either.
