From the Diary of Kara Trevelyan With Satinalia just around the corner many of my Inquisition will recieve new gifts at the foot of their respective quarters. Me and Harrit spent all night making new armor and weapons for much of my inner circle. Dagna too. At the end of the day asked Harrit what i could get him. He said 'the work is enough.'
With all this in mind the Inqusition set out for the Hissing Wastes. The last area where Cory still has troops. We intercepted their orders to retreat into the Arbor so they are isolated and cut off. Hopefully we can beat them. So...pretty much only Varric is lacking any crafted gear. So unless i do an upgrade with the game for better FTM I am pretty much all done. And by and large I really like my gear. Might see if i can get better stuff for Cassandra especially later on... she is a bit on the squishy side from what i remember. Oh also opened up the Emprise btw. Anyways it does occur to me just how much I love this game. Back when I was much younger and i would play games, games i love, i would often say 'no not this level'. But with Inqusition I genuinely enjoy most of the maps. Its really a nice experience.

I already had one speciality (abdomen/general) and today I sat for my Vascular speciality. It doesn't get me a pay raise, but since I am a full time traveler (work all over the United States) it opens up job sites I didn't have the option to apply for. Which means I can be a bit more picky ( want to see Hawaii and Alaska next year by working in those places!)

I have to turn it in just 8 weeks from now and have the feeling I haven't got anything done and it's a frustrating ordeal from start to finish. Constant pressure, self-doubt, today even my equipment worked against me. So yeah. Real envy. I want to be done with this and never do anything like that again. On a less gloomy note I wrote a draft of five pages when I couldn't continue with what I had planned to do, so yay! And I'm totally in favor of creating that hot elf! Did you see there were two new screenshots posted earlier?

Natashina Melbella Thanks for the recommendations! I currently use the "level ground" trial. Next time, will add the "go it slow" trial. olnorton Your Merrill looks awesome! (And the female mage next to her is also very pretty!) No one does a better job of creating masterpieces with the modest tools of DAO than you do! I still think you should upload some of your work to Nexusmods. For comparison, someone over there attempted both Merrill and Marethari: www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/3328/?tab=3&selected_game=140&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fdragonage%2Fajax%2Fmodimages%2F%3Fid%3D3328%26user%3D1%26gid%3D140&pUp=1I've started Trespasser and so far, so good. I thought Katriel would have a second chance when Josephine asked her to the opera, but no dice. A mild disappointment, in a plot involvling eluvians, no cameo by Briala or Michel de Chevin. Both had major experience with eluvians in Masked Empire. Oh well...DA books can be fun, but they rarely seem to introduce you to key characters in the games.

It was a painful panic inducing slog that at once seemed to go one forever and yet not be enough time. I never ever want to have to do anything like that ever again. Just keep at it! Get as much done as you can as soon as you can is the best advice I can give.

--It's funny. Despite some serious differences of opinion between Solas and Valena, they've become close friends. One upside about getting his personal mission knocked out after doing the Exalted Plains is that it was a hop, skip and a jump away from the Dalish camp. --I'm glad that Blackwall is so easy to please. I've actually gotten more disapproval hits from him in this game. However between killing random darkspawn and getting artifacts, it hasn't affected his greeting to Valena. --I still loathe Bianca. I still want to have Valena judge her and banish her from southern Thedas. We can judge someone for throwing a goat, yet we can't judge Bianca for deliberately withholding information about the source of red lyrium in the Hinterlands. I hate Writer Pets. --Made myself some armor with the Essence of Perfection in it. It's called Treyvellan's Legacy. It has 340 armor and has some other stats. It's got cold resist built into it. Out of the next 6 dragons, 3 of them are frost (including the DLC.) I'll make other resist gear if needed. --I've hit the point where a limited amount of dragon parts are in the BE. I haven't spent much money this time around except for mats. It's nice. Everyone has their own named and spiffy armor except for Cass and Cole. Cass is wearing one of Val's hand-me-downs and I don't have enough mats to make Cole something better. He needs to get out of his Warden-style armor. --After I kill a couple more dragons I'm going to make a new Serpent's Rage (1H axe.) I asked my husband for an idea for a name. We came up with "Axe of the Wylde King." It's named for Zakk Wylde (former guitarist for Ozzy, lead singer for Black Label Society) and Kerry King (guitarist for Slayer.) We're both dorks that have been playing D&D for over two decades. --It's a good thing that Solas likes my warrior, because Cole became human again. I think I know why Solas was so upset about it. Depending upon how DA4 turns out, Cole could be in as much danger as the rest of Thedas since he's more "real" now. --I decided to skip Emprise du Lion for now and went straight into WHWM. I've already started saving halla statues so I can get the right doors unlocked later. I grabbed the one from outside of the palace and ignored the door. I know I'm going to miss playing a rogue for this segment. --I've got some odds and ends left to do before I can go to Emprise du Lion. I need to drop off Great Bear Hide (thank you Black Emporium) and I've got an elven tomb to break into. I've also got the Lost Temple of Dirthaman to do. I hated that place when it first came out since I'd get constantly turned around. Now it isn't that bad.

AneiraIt occurred to me as I was trying to make that sexy elf's brother for myself, that kaly must be using mods. That tattoo isn't available, and then I really started looking at him, and I'm guessing the beauty marks and air brushed model complexion are also mods too. I'm not feeling up to mods in DAI yet, although I've become pretty good at using DA2 mods, so this gentleman here is the closest I could get to a handsome elf. I also do things now like making the nose flat and that balance of "I'm an elf!" ears but not "I can fly with them too!" I don't know. I think I'm about as good at male elves as I am at Qunari. :/

Isabela cleared a path through the bandits, so we could leave the Grey Warden documents at the drop off point. My DAO Merrill didn't turn out looking as much like the DA2 Merrill as I'd hoped, But she has all the hallmarks of a great Hero of Ferelden. I might remove the tatts and make her a city Elf. But I've got to get through Legacy on my current game, and face that boss enemy I haven't seen yet.

You just have to beware of those mods that don't work with the DLCs.

My city elf Darrian killed Connor. I just killed Connor for the first time and damn was it hard. Oh, the feels. My city elf was persuaded to help Redcliff village, but Connor reminded him so much of the guy who raped his cousin that Darrian was adment on killing him. True, it was the demon who was doing all this, but he didn't trust nobles enough to give the kid the benefit of the doubt that this was his true personality. When he want up to kill him, he believed that the kid was faking innocence, but he did falter a bit with the question of what will happen to him when he dies. Damn, it was hard for me.

Better gear (tier 3 schematics with tier 2 materials) helped Zevia and the gang actually beat the Hinterlands dragon this time on hard/even ground with only 3 health potions used. I know plenty of people can do much better, but it was a first for me to beat a dragon while at a lower level than said dragon Also, Zevia told Josephine that she was rather long-winded. It didn't sound as harsh as I expected it to once the line was voiced, though. Finally got another flirt option with Bull after the drinking scene, and also need to pick a specialization. I will probably go with assassin.

Bruenor settled things at the Winter Palace. He turned the 3 Stooges into the 3 Musketeers, and revealed Florianne the fool for all to see. Not sure what judgment I'll end up doing with her. Probably let her play the bait since Bruenor hates doing that himself.
After quick stops at the war table and the forge, it's back to the grind. Tavin decided he'd like some help investigating Din'an Hanin after all, so Bruenor rounded up Solas, Dorian, and Blackwall for a little excursion......

I love the preparation involved: crafting gear with the right resistance, the right resistance potion, and powerful weapons to which I add the dragon runes. This PT, I tried, for the first time, to kill the Hinterlands Dragon before the battle of Haven. With tier 2 schematics to make armor with tier 1 materials, it didn't turn out well... I had to make a return trip after arriving at skyhold.

We tracked the slavers to a cavern, not far from Massive Head Trauma Bay. I offered the slaver boss a deal, but he chose not to take us up on it. Isabela had offered to pay for a night at the Rose for Bethany, and since I had to go there to see about the missing templars... Isabela was quite taking with Idunna i.imgur.com/k77itnh.jpgThe Exotic Wonder of the East. i.imgur.com/Ib1SS2k.jpgWho would have killed me with blood magic, had Bethany not been there to stop her. i.imgur.com/A6JOdp5.jpgThis meant Bethany's night out was put on hold, for after I killed Idunna, we had to go in search of this Tarohne. i.imgur.com/UduC4zA.jpgWe found Keran trapped in a magical prison. i.imgur.com/OSrcDMz.jpgTarohne said he wasn't suitable as a host, but even the rejected vessels can be used to power their magic. i.imgur.com/LuuRY3i.jpgSo then she pitted her blood mages and abominations against my blood mage and abomination. We won. i.imgur.com/XyCjHAZ.jpgMerrill checked Keran's blood and said he was good to go. Anders suggested that we play down the whole blood magic angle when we spoke with Knight Captain Cullen. I thought I got the last decent helmet off Tarohne, but it turns out it's the last descent helmet, but still decent. i.imgur.com/sU9wHzR.jpg

phorayI like your elf even if he looks different. But as the dwarf said, modding is not too difficult. I learned that recently. I tried mods before in my third and fourth PT, one of them was a hair mod and nothing worked (because I made a mistake) and I gave up. Tried again a few weeks back and guess what, I currently have six mods or so installed. (I know there are people with a lot more than that. ^^) So it does work. Although I have yet to try again with that hair mod. Could be worth a try if you really want him to look like kaly's elf.

--I finished WHWM with "Team Outcast." Bull/Varric/Dorian. Bull is Tal-Vasoth; Varric is a surface dwarf; Dorian is Dorian. I managed to finally get the halla statues unlocked in such a way to see the poor solider tied up on the bed. I was instantly reminded a bit of the sequence in DA2 during Sebastian's loyalty quest. "Felicate me!" I told the solider to keep his mouth shut about Celene. Gaspard is exiled and Celene now rules. My character couldn't kill Gaspard. If something happens to Celene, he's the only one left.
--Bull made me laugh my ass off at one point. We're just entered the Royal Wing when Bull cracks, "So we're going into a place that even Leliana said was dangerous. This party just livened up!" Also, upon seeing the tied up solider and hearing the poor guy's story: "Classic honeypot."
--Bull is gonna be in my party for the remainder of the game except for the final boss in Descent. Then I take no one but ranged so I can control a mage and have another as backup. It'll be Valena/Solas/Varric/Dorian for that. I'm going to make Dorian run his little Vint butt off and go lightning for the fight. For JoH, it'll be Bull/Solas/Dorian for most of it. I'll leave Cass at home this time. As an aside, taking her through JoH was fun in a kinda mean way. She freaks out a few times. Not that I completely blame her.
--Anyway, I went back to Skyhold and decided to start Blackwall's quest before I moved onto the last zones in the game. I went to VR and everything was fine. Got back and ran into a very nasty bug.
So I judged Blackwall and gave him his freedom. I manually saved the game. Then I had to judge the Dutchess. At first I sent her to the Clositer. The entire party didn't like that decision and neither did I. I reloaded and went to judge her again. I watched about 2 minutes of a black screen with the DA symbol down at the bottom. It then kicked me out and left everyone standing around in mid-judgement. The quest diamond was gone.
I tried reloading then going downstairs to change thrones. I had read that can help. It didn't help me at all. I tried a few different thrones and no dice. I didn't make a manual save before doing the WT mission to get Blackwall back to Skyhold. Instead, I had to go back to my Milestone save from when I first returned to Skyhold.
Then I did the Dutchess judgement (common work for the common people) and it went just fine. I have to go through the Crossroads scene again but at least the throne is no longer bugged. If that bug happens, kiss any progress you've made since the bug started goodbye. It triggers once you reload a save right before a judgement.
This is a known bug after Blackwall's judgement in particular. I'd recommend saving before any series of judgements if you have a few backed up. Also, doing too many in a row can trigger this bug as well. My advice is to do only one or two at a time, then go quest or whatever outside of Skyhold. I'm glad I only lost 10 minutes instead of hours of gameplay.
I do have to go back and redo Blackwall's quest chain. I have to talk to everyone again, repurchase dragon bone for my end game axe and go get Vivienne's personal quest. Then once I get Blackwall back I'm hitting up the Lost Temple of Dirthamen and dropping off bear butts I mean pelts to the Dalish.
Non story zones remaining: Emprise du Lion, Emerald Graves, Hissing Wastes. First DLC zone I'm going to do: Frostback Basin.

From the diary of Kara Trevelyan: Continued to investigate the Hissing Wastes, diving through ruins, tombs, battling Venatori, Spiders, and Wveryns. The best part was though Vivienne complaining about the ruining of her skin. She could have stayed at SKyhold, knew the risks, but she was quite insistant on coming here regardless.
According to Scout Harding we can only safely travel around in the day, which limits our operations...but that of the Venatori too...to night. Unfortanatly that means there is an abndance of wildlife we have to kill. Instead of hordes of undead its been large groups of Wyverns and teeming with posion spiders. Yet, Sera, and our arrows, have prevailed. So I have indeed been running through the Hissing Wastes for.... well the longest time I have done any map in the game to this point. Nothing really to report though I think I now have more then enough tier 3 materials to finish doing what I need to do, and maybe make a few more suits or weapons for people who already have them if they need it. Just running around and going to finish up my two brief quests there before starting my companion missins I have active and wrapping up other quests in those regions time and weirdness permitting.

I got everything caught up. I also knocked out the Wicked Grace scene. I still wish I could have heard the stories. It's honestly one of my favorite moments in any BioWare game I've ever played. Bull has a new 2H axe. For fun, I put a Fade-touched material that has a 10% chance of Hidden Blades on hit. He makes everything in his path go splat. Varric, Bull and Dorian all need new armor for the endgame. Poor Varric is in the same armor he's had since Haven. It's a good schematic but with Tier 1 mats. He's finally outgrowing it. Leather has been a royal pain to get ahold of unless I farm for it or go to the BE. I know I'd have better luck in the Emerald Graves but I'm holding off. That's thanks to the Avenue of Angry Giants. Nothing like pulling half of a damn area without intending to. I'm getting the mats for the superb corruption rune before I go there. It's a whopping 8 degrees (F) outside. -13(C). It was snowing earlier. The skies have cleared up and it's supposed to hit -4(F) tonight. I think some coffee with irish cream and going to Emprise du Lion sounds fitting. Edit: I remade my first character Garnet Cadash earlier. However, I had hit the 50 save limit for the PS4. I looked at Rowan and realized I had waaay too many saves for her. So I did some cleanup and Garnet went through. She's going to wait until after I finish Valena. If I replay the game for the 3rd time in three weeks.

olnorton you crack me up. We pitted our blood mage and abomination against their blood mages and abominations. And we won. HA!
Anyway. Today, I worked on my Dragon Age timelines. And then I drew two pictures. One was 8 year old Surana and the other was supposed to be this awesome "looking down in on the Valley of a blossoming Arlathvhen". And halfway through the drawing, I knew I'd failed at the awesome. By the end of it, I didn't even want to share my efforts with the internet. man. So, after some "despair and ugliness" (which I can't remember who I'm quoting, but maybe Anders).... Where I considered for 5 seconds on giving up...I decided I just needed to rework my ideas to my skill level. Which I give a letter grade of C. Now to figure out how to do so? is my next quandry.
Oh, another thing. Where do I farm for good materials so I don't have to be a dull gray and ugly the whole game? anywhere pre skyhold, or is it only post skyhold? and what looks good on male elves?
