Nice the mage towe's my favouriet part of DAO Same here. I'm one of those weirdos that loved the Fade All hail to the oven rage demons and the burning dogs. The latter ones have their own song. Chateau d'Onterre...is that the one with the spooky lights and all the undead? I kinda liked that one too, even if I'm not normally one for spookiness You forgot what FB would call an obscurial.

It's especially creepy if you carefully read all the notes left there. I'm not fond of spookiness as well, but more sub-areas like that, please. Same here. Same here. I'm one of those weirdos that loved the Fade 1) All hail to the oven rage demons and the burning dogs. The latter ones have their own song. Chateau d'Onterre...is that the one with the spooky lights and all the undead? I kinda liked that one too, even if I'm not normally one for spookiness 2) You forgot what FB would call an obscurial. 1) Rage demons are kinda cute looking...speaking of, BioWare should make a plush of it though my favorite demon design has to be the Pride demon, they're epic
2) Ah yeah...that too Chateau d'Onterre...is that the one with the spooky lights and all the undead? I kinda liked that one too, even if I'm not normally one for spookiness Yep. It's especially creepy if you carefully read all the notes left there. I'm not fond of spookiness as well, but more sub-areas like that, please. I generally skip over large portions of codex entries, generally only reading the ones that interest me
some of them tend to be...gruesome, I mean...ever read Caridin's journal? That's some horror shite right there, no wonder he regrets his invention when I read through it I finally understood why most of my Wardens would be so adamantly against using the Anvil. *shudders*

Yep. It's especially creepy if you carefully read all the notes left there. Not just creepy. There is a good lesson to learn what can happen if... Enlightening quest. I can't understand why people hate it...at least it's not as tedious as the Deep Roads An opinion from one person: I am not fade fan in DAO as it is tedious meanig it is a short quest where I already know what's where. Some parts are still fun to play, curious converations and dialogues. Shapeshifting is a great idea for that quest. Since there is a comparison with the Deep Roads: this plot quest is indeed the longest from all others. But, as a player, I do not find it tedious since thre are many places to go, many corner to check, many enemies to kill, ambushes all over the place, stone is everywhere but at the same time everything is different. Sometimes I even might not remember that there should be some ambush, or that the enemy ahead is a mage who summons spiders. Moreover I do like that I can appproach the main point using different places, not just use one route. There are options and having options in games is usually a good thing. And there is an option just use one route to finish the mission without exploring those corners.

I tend to have love/hate relationships with long quests like the Deep Roads, part of me loves the exploration...but the other part of me hates having to check her map every five seconds to see if I'm heading in the right direction
I have terrible sense of direction irl. and I tend to head canon many of my characters suffer from the same thing. There's even an in-universe joke about it in DA2 during one of the dlc's between Hawke and Merrill (Legacy dlc) ^ sounds like something I'd definitely do
But all in all, I do like the Deep Roads itself...just not the length of the quest-line itself, which is why I tend to do it relatively early in the game.

Yeah I'm pretty badat that too. I was crap at geography at school. My best subjects were probably Maths and science though I've always been pretty good with computers too.

Yeah I'm pretty badat that too. I was crap at geography at school. My best subjects were probably Maths and science though I've always been pretty good with computers too. We used to have geography and history switching between semesters, so geography one semester and history the one after that. My grade would reflect that, I'd have a better grade during history then I would during geography.
I mean, I'm able to point out various countries and perhaps their capitals on a world map, but don't ask me about rivers or mountains. I'm more of a history buff anyway, I found it a lot more interesting...at least up 'till they'd spend half the school year about World War 2, as if nothing happened after that that was just as interesting I mean, various historical things I learned, I learned much later whilst randomly browsing the internet. Women vote right? What's that? What was Flower Power? We didn't learn those things 'cause apparently my history teacher found WW2 to be the most interest historical subject. And while I agree we have to learn about what happened back then, they don't need to go on and on about it and show all those movies they always show on tv in May (yeah in my country they love putting on War movies during May, especially on and around 4-5th of May)
sorry I'm babbling, my main point was that I'm bad geography as well

Yeah I know about counrties and their capitals but that's about all I d oknow really but yeah I always was moer interested in things like science and how do things work and stuff lik ethat than I was geography. End of the da yas long as I remember where my bathroom is I'll be fine. TBH that's all the geography I need. As for computers I've always had one all my lfe ever since I was a kid so I kind of grew up wit hthem as m yfirst computer was an Amstrad CPC464. As for what did I d otoday in DA nothing as I haven't got round to starting my latest run yet as I'm still finishing up MEA. Probabl ywon't be much longer though as I onl need set up the outposts on Kadasra and Elaaden do PB's mission and complete the main story really which the nex ttask in that is infiltrate the Archon' s ship

Today I finished up the quest for the Urn of Sacred Ashes, Brother Genitivi is alive, and so is 'Andraste' (I mean, it's canon the urn disappears anyway with or without the dragon anyway) Administered the ashes to Arl Eamon...who woke up, got filled in on the details and the proceeded to put Minerva in charge of all his plans. I mean...I know we're the protagonist and all, but Eamon sure seems like he loves putting his own work on others. Among this, forcing Alistair to put himself forward for the throne, despite not wanting this. Though...Minerva eventually does the same thing, so we're not really ones to talk Then went all over the map to help Sten get back his sword and a few other minor side quests as well.
Anyway, after that traveled to Denerim, helped out Leliana on her quest (let Marjolaine go instead of killing her for once, imo. it makes more sense this way since Leliana goes to Orlais later on anyway).
Got the drake scale armor from Wade, and did a few more side quests in the city as well.
Afterwards we went and sorted out Soldier's Peak, killed Sophia Dryden and allowed Avernus to life provided he'd do ethical research to help the Wardens. Did Jowan's quest after that, and let him go on as his new persona as 'Levyn', I also unlocked Wynne's quest but I'll finish that one up once I've done Nature of the Beast.
Speaking of Nature of the Beast, got a delightful greeting from the Dalish elves as we approached their camp and pretty much did all the side quests in the camp to get in their good graces. Currently in the ruins inside the forest and will be finishing up that quest tomorrow.

Ahhh... warm and fuzzy. Don't gimme ideas. I generally skip over large portions of codex entries, generally only reading the ones that interest me some of them tend to be...gruesome, I mean...ever read Caridin's journal? I'll skip some of the entries in subsequent pts, but I follow the rule of reading everyting at least once. So yeah, I saw those Same here, especially general entries which appear in multiple games almost identically. Bonus points for low interest, like ramblings of the Maker or something like that. That's the amusing thing about DAO; the background/origin-related versions of certain codexes.
Yeah I'm pretty badat that too. I was crap at geography at school. My best subjects were probably Maths and science though I've always been pretty good with computers too. Just half a year? Okay, since "we" were the ones who started it, there was a bit more content (and I also read 'nuff stuff myself). Reminds me of that one lesson when our teacher was already quite exhausted and when Hitler's face came up in the books again, she was like "Uh, that visage again!" While I think context is one of the most important things, far more than learning a date or a name by heart (and dare you not to upset nowadays' political successors to some of these names I also guess these same people would rather not talk about the late 60s for... some reason. ) As for May and WW2 films, German surrender was on 8th May of 1945 (some countries put this on the 9th, depending on their timezone and when they got the news). Also, Nazi invasion of the Netherlands started 10th May 1940, so that might be factor. ... Oh, and I'm ones of these people who might mess up navigating an area which is no issue during daylight as soon as it gets dark.

Well, they did it three times...once in 8th grade of Elementary school (yes Netherlands has 8 grades as opposed to 6, they used to have 6 but they changed it to 8 at some point) then once in grade 1 of middle school and another time in grade 2...so you can imagine that it gets tiresome at some point.
but like I said, I found things that happened before and after much more interesting, like the Industrial Revolution...and other things that I learned while browsing the internet years later. Such as about Lyudmila Pavlichenko, one of the deadliest female snipers with a confirmed kill score of 309.
Anyway...I was just rambling, we should probably take these topics to our message board so that we don't clog this thread

That moment when Alistair thanks you for being a good friend, knowing that in a matter of hours you'll betray that same friend 'cause you want Loghain on your team aka. me feeling pretty shitty 'cause I just got Alistair's hardening conversation and I'm nearing the Landsmeet
Edit: Finished up Origins, people died, some people got extremely salty...but the Archdemon died so all is well Minerva decided to ask for a boon that would allow the Wardens to never be forgotten again and decided to travel around a bit with Zevran and Fuzzball.
It must be said, but...Anora's battle speech is horrendous, she sounds so monotone as she's delivering it, no wonder I prefer Alistair delivering it. Sadly he doesn't if Loghain joins the team...ah well.
Tomorrow I'm going to get started on Awakening

Today started on the Awakening expansion. Minerva got herself some new Wardens, Anders, Oghren and later on Nathaniel as well (let him go at first but he later returned) Cleared out a bunch of darkspawn, held court, stopped a conspiracy intended on ending Minerva's life Helped Nathaniel find his sister, and helped Anders gain his freedom...sorta (it always surprises me how Rylock is willing to anger Ferelden's monarch(s) by potentially trying to kill Ferelden's Queen/Prince Consort and all out hero ) Already cleared out the Wending Woods, recruited Velanna, and currently in Kal'Hirol helping out Sigrun. So tomorrow I'll be finishing that up, and then heading to Blackmarsh

She's got her zealot blinders on. Tunnel vision; not allowing distractions such as the pesky detail of angering monarchs and putting your organization in a bad place. And let's not the forget the arrogance cap. She's got that firmly in place as well.

Anora: I am what this country needs. Who do you think has been actually doing the work to run this nation? Cailen? You need a strong ruler. You. Need. Me.
Me: Oh, so YOU'RE the reason Ferelden is in the shitter right now. What you're saying is you are SO POWERFUL that YOU let the abuses of the alienage go until you had to burn it down, YOU ignored the signs of both Loghain's insanity and betrayal AND Cailen's dealings with a potentially hostile Celene, YOU allowed the werewolf situation in the Brecellian forest to get out of hand, YOU let Templars and chantry zealots run rampant across your land, YOU couldn't stop Howe from butchering the Couslands...
And THEN were powerless to prevent yourself from becoming a puppet, bystander, and hostage to Loghain and Howe, all the while a Civil War raged across the country. Tell me how 'good' a ruler and administrator you are, ANORA. Tell me how YOU'RE the one to lead Ferelden back into complacency and a restoration of the status quo.

Tomorrow I'm going to get started on Awakening I've never felt like the Warden is responsible for Alistair's reaction. But this choice certainly is an interesting test of principles and emotional strength. Why are you sparing Loghain this time around, though?

I've never felt like the Warden is responsible for Alistair's reaction. But this choice certainly is an interesting test of principles and emotional strength. Why are you sparing Loghain this time around, though? True, I even had a rant in my head canon where my Warden actually got angry at Alistair for his reaction...kinda went something along the lines of 'everything I did was for you and Ferelden's sake, you even made a rookie like me lead our group because you didn't have the balls for it so don't you dare get angry at me mister'
I mean, for example, her sparing Connor was mostly so she wouldn't anger or sadden Arl Eamon, who she knew she needed help from...getting into Alistair's good graces was just a bonus.
As for Loghain...I think it's mostly respect on Minerva's part that makes her spare him, yes he did heinous things, many of them in fact...plus he's also partially responsible for her mental state after the events at the Circle (safe to say if he hadn't promised Uldred that he'd loosen things for them it might not have happened). So yeah, part of her wants to watch him suffer, but talking with Anora about him, finding out he has (or had) his good qualities...she's conflicted on what it will mean for her decision. And then when she arrives at the Landsmeet chambers, meeting up with Cauthrien who begs her to spare Loghain if she can, that puts her in a difficult situation. At any rate, when Loghain breaks his cool during said Landsmeet and duels her she feels in control again of her mind and actions, but when he kneels before her broken and bleeding she can't bring herself to kill him. So she decides to spare him right there and then, even if this means loosing a friend. In my head canon she tried to persuade Alistair to hear of her plans, but he wouldn't have any of it. Hence her rant at him when he confronts her later.
We have to remember that Alistair sees the Wardens as heroes and his family, so inviting the man who left them to die is the uttermost betrayal. He even says that joining the Wardens is an honor, not a punishment. Yet many of the origins we have for our Warden...most can view it as a punishment for having to join. The ones that come to mind are the Dalish Warden and the Human Noble, but the others also have to join because 1) story demands it and 2) the fate without Duncan's interference is death in all of them.
As for me as player sparing Loghain...I kinda like Loghain as a character, he's ruthless but he does have redeeming qualities, like the love for his country and daughter (the latter he displays if you ask him about her later) Plus I only ever had Stroud as my Warden contact in Inquisition, so I've to admit I'm a bit curious what it's like to have someone else around. Ah but...that likely means I'll play Wicked Eyes before Here Lies the Abyss...just so I can have his little cameo alongside Morrigan and Kieran.

Well you aer his CO in a sense. That too...but in my head canon he and my Warden eventually become lovers so in that same head canon I picture the fact that he loves teasing her because he knows it'll annoy the hell out of her
hm...I've yet to hear him say 'does this please you?' ...I know it's a line he can say, but I've no idea when or how to get that ah well...it's a lot of fun regardless
Oh and the other day I got a new random encounter I'd never seen before in Awakening (not added by a mod, well...not really, I just have a mod that increases random encounters) said random encounter is called Sunbaked Canyon, it has some drakes, dragonlings and a dragon...and a pretty neat tier 9 sword called Dragonbrand, it gives +20 damage against any dragon (among other things).
