deadlydwarf The chemical attack in DA2 was supposed to be a gaatlok explosions, but the ones who stole the bombs were tricked by a decoy and stole saar-qamek instead. So the supposed explosion turned into a toxic cloud instead. "Punishing" the thieves but also screwed over a lot of innocent people. Who would probably have been blown up instead, but still awful. The attack was planned by the elf. Who was desperate because of how many elves were turning their backs on their people to join the Qun. Personally I suspect she might have attended one of Petrice's sermons, or that a similar speech was being made for the elves. Because she recognizes Hawke and claims that they have enemies (and Hawke's main enemy in the Qun business is Petrice and co) and that the "faithful" are still hidden in the city. So the elf is to blame for the attack, the Chantry is somewhat responsible for the elf and the Qunari are why the attack happened this way, instead of a big, nice boom.

Curious Crow That's a much better description. It's a nice summary of that whole mess. I'm going to put my gear stats into spoiler tags. The weapon bits aren't the final ones. I'll need more dragon stuff for that. Axe of the Wylde King Serpent's Rage schematic.

From the Diary of Kara Trevelyan: Finally went off to the Deep Roads to meet with Bianca, because she is the leak...of course she was. Despite my annoyance at her personally it was really not that big of a deal. We stopped them. For once. And it really was not her fault. She was trying to do good. At the end of the day all is well that ended well.
And we got to kill a few Darkspawn, which I anticipated by bringing Blackwall and Cassandra along. What I did not anticipate was they were crawling up from under the ground. And that I need a mage to seal the breaches in the ground. And sicne there was no mages...oops. Still, our first real throwdown with actual Darkspawn, I wonder if I can check it off a list or something.
Now onto sealing up fade rifts. And maybe escorting a Druffalo back home (probably not). So I am now trying to clean up as many of the companion quests as I can. I think the end of this playthrough *might* just be in sight. Maybe need to do a little more crafting but all that is really left is to do a sweep through the zones and the companion quests at the same time to finish everything I want to get in the game, and then the Dragons, and Emprise and Hissing Wastes, though there might be a little in the Emerald Graves too. Only problem is I want A. all my companions to consider Kara a friend because I *think* she has been able to do so with everyone in her playthroughs to this point. I mean its no big deal I do like Rolepplaying and so being friends with everyone is not a requirement *but* I do like playing through each of the companion quests. And so far Blackwall and Solas's has not triggered. And as I mentioned before I have not triggered Cassandra's book scene, which is important to me. Consiering I head canon those two as being sisters so its like noooo why you no like me Cassandra?!

colfoleyIn my current game, I've triggered the book scene (but haven't given it to her yet) and already done the seeker quest, but have yet to get her "find these 5 bad guys" quest. It's really weird how you can get them in any order. It seems like the book scene shouldn't even trigger until the other two quests are done. I figure next convo will be the other quest but who knows? For Blackwall, his quest won't trigger until both WEWH and HLTA are done, and you have the required approval. If it's just an approval thing, take him with you to kill darkspawn or find another artifact or two.

So, I got my reward for exam passing in the mail today. Mage killer comic. And it immediately goes into this serious mage killer mercenary monologue for like ten pages. Battle and blood and a bit of shady spy feeling. very serious. Then it becomes "in the now" and Tessa is like, "I got something for you Marius" And pulls out Swords and Shields. I bust out laughing. Varric, you popular rascal.

Tidy-ed up the quest log today. Well, after adding a bunch of stuff to it.
Found a snowy wyvern heart for Vivienne. I love how she asks if you have it even if she was there when you killed the thing. Killed a bunch of regular gurguts for their webbing and watched the dragon fly around the swamp some more. Accompanied Viv to see her "friend" Bastien one last time.
Finally got Cass' "let's kill these guys" quest and took out 3 of the 5. Offered to support her for Divine (got the WT quest but haven't done it yet).
Talked to Bull to get his quest. Next stop will be the Storm Coast for some "what exactly does this alliance get me?" work with the qunari.
Made a special trip to Val Royeaux to ruin Dereboam's day and get my war nugs.
Turned Florianne into bait per Leliana's plan.
Discovered who was (badly) plagiarizing Varric's Hard in Hightown serial: some jealous dwarf named Worthy.

Varric heard that Bartrand was back in town, so we paid him a visit and Varric let Bianca deal with him. i.imgur.com/ObHiAPn.jpgMerrill was shattered when Pol ran from her, straight into a varterral. (considering they don't have the textures to show tears, I thought that was a very good facial expression.) i.imgur.com/7LT4riv.jpgA drunk in the Hanged Man told us the Grand Cleric sanctioned the kidnapping of the Qunari delegates. When we went to see her about it, who should show up, but Sister Petrice. i.imgur.com/nEjbTiT.jpgShe lead us into a trap, but we found the murdered Qunari. i.imgur.com/xzPTWI8.jpgI went to check on Merrill, she was still blaming herself for Pol's death. i.imgur.com/u46NfNX.jpgWhen I got home, Isabela was waiting for me. i.imgur.com/BidHweJ.jpgOne thing lead to another i.imgur.com/tsroPK8.jpgbut she insisted love was not for her. i.imgur.com/BOPzAHs.jpgVarric took us to meet someone in Hightown, but it turned out to be an ambush. An Elf dropped out of nowhere and evened the odds for us i.imgur.com/LXy9x6h.jpgbecause of course she wanted something from us. i.imgur.com/XfA8vfs.jpgSo we go to help her out and Bethany is there. (how good does Bethany look in her Grey Warden armour, I'll have to get myself a set of those.) i.imgur.com/kesanJa.jpgYou can hardly see it for the VFX, but that's us killing a wyvern i.imgur.com/9Y5tws0.jpgwhich meant party time i.imgur.com/08dirCN.jpgTallis met an old friend i.imgur.com/oLdJkDR.jpg(which is why it was strange when Cassandra said to Varric, "the Elf was a Qunari" like she didn't believe his story. but Leliani knew who Tallis was, so you would have thought that Cassandra would have also known.) i.imgur.com/zpPLJdI.jpgBut anyway, we made our escape (in my new clothes of the messenger) i.imgur.com/LSDu0QT.jpgIsabela was quick to assure Tallis that I only like Rivani rogues. i.imgur.com/Ze77oGh.jpg I know it's a lot of pics, but the story needs to be told.

--I was going to buy the nug mount, but decided the Belt of Elements was far more worth my time. +15% resist to all three elements. That thing is over 15k. I still have the Hissing Wastes, the rest of the Emerald Graves, the DLC zones and Arbor Wilds to do before the end of the game. Plenty of time to get the cash back. --I knocked out all of the dragons in Emprise du Lion and the one on the Storm Coast. I also saved Sutherland and CO while I was out there. I forgot I have two WT missions left before the quest chain is completely done. --Got Leliana's quest done ("Niceness before knives, Leliana,") the Sulevin Blade equipped on Cass and I got the Temple of Dirthamen knocked out. Such a creepy place, but much easier now that torches don't dissipate when you drop them. At launch, if you dropped a veilfire torch due to combat, you'd have to trek your butt back to the nearest brazier. --Started the Emerald Graves and completed the quest for the Ardent Crown. It's an easter egg quest. You can tell the devs had fun sneaking this into game. Short video explaining it here: Yes, you heard that right. Jump on that little cave 50 times in a row. Don't stop even when you hear someone talking. Stop only when you get the fetch quest for the 10 Crystal Graces. You drop them off at the same cave. The gear reward is in Emprise du Lion but there will be no quest text telling you this. After all that jumping and running around, the reward is a flower helm. With 41 armor and +24% Sunder on hit. My warrior is now running around with that on. I turned on helmets long enough to take a look. Then I saw the rest of my party's ugly hats and shut it back off. Here's an example of what it looks like on Cass:

I like the camera mod; I can see the NPCs the protag is talking to up close. I even saw the big gap in the front teeth of one. It's great but it also emphasized how bad the limbs of some NPCs are. I chose the HF athletic body mod btw; her arms are also thicker. The one other thing that I wish is that someone would add boosters to the horse. I've been hoping for one but nobody bothered.

I'm working my way up through Denerim, or rather my cute, mute Irene Brosca is! She denied Morrigan her demonspawn and since Riordan fell rather horribly she's knows the score. Alistair has to take care of Ferelden. A light that burns twice as bright burns for half as long and Irene has burnt very, very brightly.

Issala Adaar spent yesterday evening finishing up Crestwood, went back to the Hinterlands to kill the Frostback, then the Crestwood dragon, then headed out to the Western approach to see about this warden-demon army business, snagged a fortress, cleared a weird time-stopped ruin, and killed the Abyssal dragon while she was there. She's starting to get the hang of this Knight-Enchanter thing. Coracavus is next!

Wow, I just got a warm shot of nostalgia straight to the heart here. When I first got into Dragon Age, I was still on an elf kick. I'd played mostly elves or half-elves until D&D 3.0. Then I couldn't stop playing tielfings. Anyway, both of the elf origins didn't click with me at first. They were very well written but it just didn't draw me in. Then I played my Brosca. It was love as soon as I did the Proving as a dual wield rogue. That's what drew me into the game. Friends of mine in the ToR forums recommended the series to me. I went in completely blind. I had no spoilers. All I knew was that there was LGB romances in the game and that I was playing a western RPG. My character didn't trust Morrigan as far she could throw her. So no DR for Terra Brosca. She did the US. Imagine my shock when I found my character had died. I adore the way the DA team wrote the dwarves. They took some of the standard tropes and turned it on its head. I enjoy the hell out of that. I will always love the dwarves of Thedas because of that. I'd better. I've played hundreds of hours and I've spent some decent amount of money on the series. In tribute, here's my favorite picture of Garnet Cadash. She was the first DA:I character I played. This was 8 days after the game first came out. This was her rallying the Wardens while wearing Warden-style armor. Never forget. <salute>

I discovered by accident you don't actually have to jump at all. Go to the tiny cave, save and reload. Upon reloading, the "place" icon shows up.

Awweeeeeee. I've barely known Irene a paragraph and am already a bit bummed she had to die. I'm not good at Ultimate Sacrifice. By not good, never accomplished, but I have a plan for one which should go off hitch free Since I probably will want to take her through Awakening I may have to go back a bit, harden Alistair and try a softer ending . Or a new character... but it feels a bit rough to not do DAA with her. It will suit her. Oh, is she romancing Alistair? The Brosca I made would total run off with Leliana on her adventures. She hates being a leader, so NOT interested in running the Wardens of Fereldan.

Yes she is with Alistair. She may have been a bit naive but has made sure Rica is taken care of. Orzammar's got its chantry and a king who may actually be a reformer. Ferelden needs someone not in it for the personal power. So that will be Alistairs duty as killing the Archdemon will be hers.
It will be a good day to die. <ugh>

Doing Wicked Eyes before the one fade quest which I usually do first. How I hate the game.

Doing Wicked Eyes before the one fade quest which I usually do first. How I hate the game. The Highlight of that whole thing, for me, is unveiling Florian's duplicity in front of the entire court. It makes me smile every time. Edit add: meant to say "redeeming." Mostly I feel me about the whole place.

If so, there's a new mod that spices up the US ending, which I found lame in the vanilla game.
