Zevia's letter to no one: Began the assault on Adamant this evening and was forced to kill a group of Wardens who refused to surrender. Fools. Was otherwise going splendidly until the dragon showed up. Now stuck in the Fade with Seeker, Pavus, Tethras, Hawke, and Alistair. Will probably die here, never having ridden The Iron Bull. Should have brought him along. Dammit.
You know the next person to get stuck in the Fade is going to see that letter, right?
**** Bruenor ransacked the Cradle of Sulevin and brought back sword pieces for Dagna to play with. She made a pretty sweet blade for Iron Bull, just in time to go dragon hunting. Got two out of 3 down in Emprise, but the Ravager will have to wait till tomorrow. I suited up for both cold and fire fights, so at least I won't need to make a trip back to camp. Left Bruenor, Bull, Cass, and Solas on top of the second ring, looking at the rift that just went active. They'll take care of that tomorrow as well.

I made an inquisitor. First time I've played the game since February 2015, I forgot how much different they look in game compared to in the CC. I'm not happy with how she turned out, so I'll have another go before I start the game. She looked better in the CC, honest. When you get to the black emporium, can you change the face you have (like DA2), or do you just start from scratch again?

Trying to follow Nightscrawl's story line order suggestions. Even without closing more than 2 rifts, I had 20 power. Neat thing: got the 4 power, Solas started whining, went home and unlocked the storm coast using it all up, then went out again. Solas never mentions Val Royeux again. Hooked up with the Blades of Hasserian. Sorely tempted to flirt with Jose, but I already have a cute little dwarf gal with stone sense I have planned for her, so I reeled it in. Was pleased with my "talking about my elf past" answer options. He loves the forest and walking around, and he's quite fond of his clan. Got tired of wandering Hinterlands and Storm Coast trying to, what do you guys call it...harvest materials? so, off to the emporium. I was dumb and bought a bunch of blue vitriol, because I remember liking the metal. Got back to Haven, and realized what I wanted to craft required cloth and hide, not metal. Decided to wait on Iron Bull until I'm to Skyhold; the Inquistion ain't got no money yet. Specially since I keep going shopping at the Emporium. Got the ladies. Ameridan likes Sera. And chose the "don't care about the idiot" option when speaking to De Fer, and got an epic "The Game" speech about the guy's clothes I'd never heard before. I like the idea of De Fer joining BEFORE closing the Breach and Skyhold. She's taking a chance, which reflects well on her character. After Skyhold, it's a bit of a sure thing. And she has zero chance of being the Divine, as I'm allying with the mages this play through. ^^ Also, picking the bottom right answers while arguing with Leliana about the spy makes her reactions seem so much more appropriate. I'd always chosen "this is the time for ideals" dialogue so it was nice to branch out on a character I feel more relaxed about. Not sure I've had a Soft Lel Divine yet. Edit add: Oh yeah! Pulled a Solas on Fiona. It was funny. "We have NOTHING IN COMMON." Ya know. Other than both being elves. And mages.

When you get to the black emporium, can you change the face you have (like DA2), or do you just start from scratch again? Yes, you can change the face at the Emporium whenever you like. There might be problems if you had any mods thrown in, however.

So far, in the new PT, Katriel and her companions quelled the mage/Templar war in the Hinterlands, dealt with the Avvar in the Fallow Mire, and annihilated the Blades of Hessarian on the Storm Coast. (Alas, Katriel had a Mercy's Crest made....and then lost it! Doh!) And having stumbled upon the Hinterlands Dragon earlier...and fled, Katriel and her team return to face the dragon....and this time they're prepared: All party members had fire-resistant armor...and the Superb Belt of Fire Resistance! i.imgur.com/YmHFNFJ.pngLet the battle begin! i.imgur.com/2Atm310.pngThe battle was fierce, but Katriel and company were up to the challenge even when the dragon's dragonlings were drawn into the fight. The fight ended in the dragon's nest. i.imgur.com/09fo19V.pngGamer note: This is the first time I've successfully killed the Hinterland's dragon before the battle of Haven. Granted, it was with the benefit of Tier 3 and 4 schematics; but I did have the Level Ground and Walk Slowly trials on. Katriel was at Level 13. They, of course, went to loot the ruined dock. And we noticed some ladders among the ruined scaffolding.... i.imgur.com/C19Z1pd.pngi.imgur.com/m55ad7i.pngIs there any way to access these ladders? And now for the glitch of the day, here Katriel meets the mad woman at the Forbidden Oasis: i.imgur.com/XCFzgyx.pngNot only does she appear delirious, she also has the ability to levitate! (And what's with the sideburns on female NPCs?)

I'll try to find it later, but there is a flycam screenshot that shows the arm becoming ethereal as Solas either touches their hand or kisses them. He did use magic which made the arm dissolve into nothing. It isn't as brutal as someone cutting their arm off or having Solas cut it off. I don't think it's said in-game but I'll know in the next couple of days. The dissolve into nothing part, that's if Solas is romanced by an Elven Inquisitor. I read that in an interview with Patrick Weekes. If an Inquisitor befriended him, he just does his bippity boppity boo magic on the hand then leaves.

It's a pity they weren't so versatile with Michel de Chevin, Gaspard, and Briala; nothing but talking heads who don't do much. I thought Briala and Michel should've been temporary companions. You would've thought Gaspard would go down fighting if you chose to side with Celene. Oh well...so much for the books' impact on the games.

deadlydwarf No doubt. I was happy that I had read the books first. WHWM should have been called, 'Hope you read The Masked Empire!' Emprise du Lion is almost as bad. Imshael is a Forbidden One, the third we've killed in the series. He's extremely powerful and old, not that you'd know it in game. If you didn't read the book, you wouldn't care about the civil war or any of it. Cole? Unless you make him human his story makes no sense. 'Hope you read Asunder kids!' It's a major pet peeve of mine.

So many books, so little time (and money). But it's true about Wicked Eyes, I understood next to nothing when I first played it. Second time was better and third time after reading TME it was perfect. I'm curious how Asunder will change my view of Cole.

Second time was better and third time after reading TME it was perfect. I'm curious how Asunder will change my view of Cole. The point of view bounces between Cole and the main character Rhys. Oddly enough, Cole's inner dialgoue makes more sense than his dialogue in game. I think that's a side effect of Gaider writing the book and Patrick Weekes taking over his in-game writing. Adamant Fortress plays a rather significant role in Asunder. By the way, the Western Approach is far crappier than DA:I shows. Particularly at night. Minor spoiler from the book: Cassandra says in game that the cure for Tranquility was discovered and that was what led the Circles to vote for dissolution. Cole talks about a demon touching a man's mind and making him real again. That Tranquil was named Pharamond. He studied Tranquility at Wynne's request. He decided that Adamant was his best bet. The Veil was very thin there and the site of a lot of battles. Travelers were advised to stay away due to reports of demons. Cole wasn't kidding when he said it is a very bad place.

So, Was about to Start In Hushed Whispers and was going to set some WT missions going. And Contact Clan Lavellan is blinking at me. I'm having a terrible time just finding a straight answer on who to use.
Contact Clan Lavellan: Jose? Protect Clan Lavellan: Lel? Investigate Duke Antoine of Wycome: Jose? Stop Purge of Wycome’s Elves: Lel? Break Venatori Hold on Wycome: Lel? Restore Order in Wycome: Lel? Protect Clan Lavellan and Wycome: Cullen?
Talking to Viv wasn't as cringe worthy as I thought it'd be. Although I has to grit my teeth to say I wanted to help restore the Circles just so Icould get her darn book personal quest.
Listening to Cassandra very closely, since she's meant to be my LI. ASked if she would work for the next Divine. She had a lot of caveats. Makes me glad it's going to be Lel.

I had the same problem you did: crimson-hope.tumblr.com/post/105755277870/okay-peoplepeople-who-make-a-lavellan-quickEdit: I'll break it down for the site: Contact: Not Cullen Protect: Not Josie** Duke: If you used Leliana for Protect, use Josie for the Duke. Leliana will get your clan killed. Stop the Purge: Leliana. Cullen arrives too late. Restore: Leliana Protect Clan and Wycome: Cullen. Josie will get your clan killed. **If you used Cullen for Protect, you'll get Break instead of the Duke. For Break: Leliana I really hate that quest chain. The only way I could see someone figuring this out without a guide is a whole lot of trial and error.

From the Diary of Kara Trevelyan: So...caught up with the Iron Bull and his operation in the Storm Coast. After of course clearing out the Red Templars on the coast. It was a botched operation from the beginning. The Venatori overwhelmed us, or would have, if I didn't tell Bull to have his people retreat. Not sure why I needed to tell him what to do, but the situation was difficult. The Dreadnaught was destroyed and Bull is now outcasted from the Qun.
Then tried to give Cole his amulet, and well...it went wrong. But it led us to the Templar who killed the original Cole. It was rather straightfoward, but tough. Ultimatley I have Cole wanting to grow. He can't just forget this. Or make the Templar forget.
Then had cookies with Sera on the roof. It was kind of scary up there, Sera is confusing as ever, but I can understand trying to make things right.
And Cassandra is human after all...
And Blackwall is not actually Blackwall...kept him in the Inquisition. Whatever he is, he is now a loyal agent and he deserves the chance to attone, in battle, rather then just be killed for it.
So now we are off to the Emerald Graves again and the 'Knight's Tomb' I got the book scnee I got the book scene I got the book scene. It was funny I was thinking aside from the whole hiccups with Cassandra this has probably been my best playthrough and I am rather enjoying it making it my 'canon' PT and doing a lot of things in a new way. I am enjying how I am pacing the quests and then pacing the companion quests, of which I just have L to do I think. And the build I am rocking with Kara. 107 Dex and37 cunning. I ind of want more cunning/ critical chance BUT I am loving the kind of sniper aestetic this is giving Kara and loving the amount of pure carnage she does when she does critical hit. 1300 + on Red Templars. Took a break from companion questing to knock off one of my favorite side quests, the Knight's tomb.

Did in Hushed Whispers. When Dorian told me he'd protect me, I had to stop a bit and squee. Oh man, I want to romance him so bad. But NO. I am a straight Dalish man. I was really getting into the moment of the best scene of the game. I was like, "Nuuu! Cassandra! Nuuuuuuu! Leliana!" Flash of White! Dramatic Entrance. Win. Grumpy Alistair married to Anora. No surprise there. Varric told me mages make good friends that make bad decisions, but good friends nonetheless. Cassandra was like CONSCRIPT THEM. Then I allied the mages. Then Cass was like, "WE'll talk about this. Later." Aw, snap. I'm in trouble with the missus. Cullen really still does fear mages. Sooooo mad I allied the mages. But Cass must have cleared her anger a bit on the ride over from Redcliffe, cuz she backed me up. Daaww. Then Cullen had a bipolar moment and washed his angry face away with an invitation to the War Table. ^___^ Happy day is In Hushed Whispers Day.

I'm half awake. She's from TME and I got that fixed. She's not in Asunder. Thanks for catching that. You should check out Asunder though. That was when the Mage v Templar war fully began. Shale and Wynne are both in it too. I picked it up in part because I'd heard Shale was in it. Good morning, then. I plan to read it, but actually The Calling is higher on my wish list since it's been on there longer. ^^ Got The Stolen Throne for my birthday a few weeks ago. So many books, so little time (and money). But it's true about Wicked Eyes, I understood next to nothing when I first played it. Second time was better and third time after reading TME it was perfect. I'm curious how Asunder will change my view of Cole. The Calling is a good one to read before doing Awakening. It takes place before the Blight but it introduces key characters you run into in Awakening. It also fleshes out Grey Warden lore and gives us a much younger and rascally Duncan. (Think of the evolution of Obie Wan Kenobe in Star Wars...) The game doesn't do too bad of a job of summarizing Cole's story. That said, Asunder fleshes out how the mage-Templar conflict spread after Kirkwall. It brings in both Wynne and Shale and Cole is a big part of the story. Of Gaider's three books, I'd say Asunder is the best.

I think my game is broken, or at least Artificer is. So, Highland Ravager, the dragon that usually kicks my ass 6 ways to Sunday before finally going down. She's level 23, Bruenor and party are level 21. Should be a real tough fight. Right? Uh, not so much. Her health was half gone before I knew it. She had enough time to summon babies one time and she was down and out before they were. I felt so bad I saved my game, reloaded to before the fight, changed the difficulty to NM (was playing on Hard) and redid the battle. It took about the same amount of time, and she didn't even get to baby-summoning. I didn't use Mark of the Rift - no focus abilities at all actually - even though I had swapped it in. So, I think Artificer is definitely broken. I reloaded back to my original post-fight save but changed the difficulty to NM. I think I might go find Vinsomer to get my ass properly kicked.
