Finished the rest of Exalted Plains, stopped Solas from killing the stupid mages, explored Dirthamen's temple (I always get turned around in that place!) and then cleaned up my inventory. I normally do Adamant first but I think this time I'll do the ball to get it out of the way. Unfortunately, that means more Morrigan foisting herself on the War Council. Then, once Orlais is settled, trekking across it to the far western edge won't seem so unbelievable.
Once I unlocked Rift Mage I used the cheap re-spec potion to change a few things. How I wish Mark of the Rift didn't take up a slot. It's special so it should have its own location on the bar.
Approval is good with everyone except Vivienne. Thus she's getting the plaidweave treatment. Solavellan is on track.

And I'm done...and crazy. 23 hours, 89% game explored (I skipped a bunch of board/side quests) in like 2.5 days. I do not recommend it, probably not healthy. Kara is now a renown Grey Warden, she put queen Anora on the throne and Alistair threw an issy fit and had to be exiled. She got her girl at the end (Leliana), I wasn't sure if the romance was locked because I never had the sex scene. I got the good ending for almost everything because I can't play evil in this game. So much back&forth in DAO and the last steps to Fort Drakon is the death of me (litterally). I had totally forgotten the sky turned red at the end (no eclipse visible thought). Also, the "alpha" darkspawns were already wearing very interesting "crowns" back in DAO. I got the finisher animation on the archdemon...and then Loghain killed it for real. Now to make a Lady mage Hawke...

23 hours, 89% game explored That sounds like my first PT, where so much can be missed just to get to the story bits. I redid the stupid Landsmeet several times to get the result I wanted. In DA2 I only reached level 15 in my first game.
A couple of pics from the weekend. First up, bugged Frosty. I haven't gone back to see if she's reset or still non-hostile.
This was also a first. I've come across these portable lab tables with the huge skulls before, but there was never anyone on them! (possibly a result of better graphics/higher settings?)

My Hawke has now spent a year in Kirkwall smuggling things and wants in on Bertrand's expedition....because as Carver puts it, her Templars might start to ask questions.

Now the long haul between trying to get my specialization and also trying to get the Dragon Materials I need to craft my Superb Dragon Bow when the time is right which also means a lot of Dragon Hunting in the meantime.
Usually when doing this once again decided to go to the Emerald Graves for a bit before hitting the Black Emporium to 'buy' the materials that I needed. Met with Fairbanks, hunted a bunhc of August Rams, went through Great Bear Cove...no Great Bears. But then the idea occured to me...the Exalted Plains has the amazing Snowfleur's in it. Now those are one of the best animals to hunt in the entire game which also is probably one of the reasons why the Exalted Plains is my favorite area, or well one of my favorites. Though its a pretty good story at the end of the day as well. But a mid game map with tier 3 mat animal which also tends to give a LOT of mats. Seriously hunting all three of them gave me what I needed to to be able to craft what I needed for the Prowler Armor and then on top of that get the Hat crafted and everything tinted the way I wanted it to be. Awesome.
Which then after all that was done and the going back and forth back to Skyhold to begin talking to all the newbies that joined up with us and catching up on a few other things. First off chatting with Ser Morris about all of his qualifications and things. Got the wife updated on exactly why the previous quatermaster wouldn't have been a good fit via the lore. Then through Lysette, the new herbalist, planting the first set of seeds, then through to Sutherland. But then the big thing was...checking in with Varric finally, sure she would've had more then enough time to arrive by now. Thing of it was though that well been doing some more reflecting on this and just decided to go with the 'default' Hawk Template. This might be one of the only things I truly do to save myself some time and well I just don't have any reference pictures of Aeryn which makes her a little tough to recreate. So there in spirit and everything else. Still always fun catching up on things and with Anders and what not, leading so some stuff on Corypheus. Which then led to the scene where Cassandra beats up on Varric. Decided to be a little bit tougher on her this time, like she is my girl, but it really was unworthy of her as well. I was able to win back the approval for a net zero loss when I chatted her up and told her that we are all fools...which is definitley true.
Then unlocked the Black Emporium to check in on things and scope out the area. Actually there is a lot of skematics there that I have never bought but at the end of the day...it does not do a good job of letting me check on tiers or how it looks or what not. And I am pretty sure its all good either way. Didn't get anything, have to still save up for the amulet of the rogue...at least that is what I decided.

So Hawke went to recuperate the Amell will from their old estate. With her brother Carver of course. And Aveline and Varric. They trashed some Slavers and found it and brought it back to Mom. Who started the steps to get the estate back, but she won't have the audiance with the viscount until after the "road trip" started. Road trip to the Deep Road of course.
So while Mom is doing that, Hawke is looking for money. Which means playing guards with Aveline on her off-duties hours. Completing found object/found owner mini tasks and assassinating assassins. Or at least, that's what is on the agenda. They at least stopped one ambush so far.
It's must have been a long time since I played mage in DA2 and I must have picked different dialogue choices, because I'm really starting to like Carver yet I kinda remember hating his guts...
Also, still my favorite DA game story/character-wise it looks like. I just love following all the various plot threads over the years.

Didn't get much done of note at least in the normal play time but then was able to push on through. Main objective for the day getting the specializations going. I decided to not do a lot of chatting with people at Skyhold but then talking with all the specialization masters, even if I know what I am going to go for, still counted. With that done it was off to Crestwood in order to do Still Waters and start working on getting the first part of the stuff with the Specialization done. Crestwood is another really nice area and Still Waters is actually a pretty descent multiple story objective and is quite a bit of a long winding road. Especially consider somehow I think I got a little lost...twice. First time somehow I fell down the hole in the world and sort of did a parachute drop right into the rage demon for the Command Spirit. Did a good deal of damage but I was able to solve the spirit issue with little to no real problem. Then I somehow got turned around in my map, like for some reason the objective marker wasn't on the mini map anymore so I had to stumble around blindly for a hot minute. Stumbled onto the idea that maybe the spirits that I saw down there were leading me to the destination so I followed them out and up again...back to the beginning of the map. Then after rereading the map I decided to do a parachute drop back down and that put me almost right where I wanted to be. Then got lost again trying to get out of the cave so I decided to go back the way I came, so I missed the really cool sequence where you come out of the cave into the dawn and deal with the rift. I naturally just realized I dealt with that rift later. After that I swept through and got all three of the weapon tokens I need for the Murder Knife. One of the interesting side effects of how I play this game is I take the 'A' Team out to new areas each time and the main story missions, thinking of dropping the system for Veilguard but we'll see. Anyways though since I have been going to a lot of new areas recently that has left me with taking out the A team a lot of time. Just after the impkication of it being a day decided to swap out the party, at least mostly. Got Cole in for the first time ever and Blackwall for the first time in a while. So was able to get them levelled up and continuing to muse on how to continue to build them and build them via crafting because they also have their specializations up. Continuing to level Dorian through the storm tree, for instance. On that note to bit annoyed to this point I hadn't gotten any FTMs and maybe a little worried. Well I got three. Walking Fortress, less mana/ stamina on cast, and something else that I think might have been a little on the worthless side. Oh yeah half a chance to revive on dying. Maybe something for Bull honestly. Still gotta decide. Mana/ Stamina seemed obvious, that went to Dorian. Was going to put Walking Fortress on Blackwall but then occured to me that he already had in the Champion Spec...so went into it to see what it was about for him and decided it wasn't worth double dipping on him but it would make a nice little upgrade for Cassandra. So Cass is getting new armor soon. Kind of been forgetting to talk about the War Table Adventures. Ah yes it was the Serpent of Nevarra. And given things Cullen and Leiliana was very risky and very blood thirsty, so since I already had Josephine on a mission...she just wanted to warn the King about the threat...I decided to leave it there.

Promises are meant to be broken. DAO needs your attention. NOW. The Archdemon is daring you to show your face. Go ahead, call it's bluff. Show it you're the Grey Warden you were meant to be.

Hawke has a new little sister: Merrill. We also continued to play guard duty. Dealt with a serial killer. Have Tal-Vashoth added to the list and we still haven't been to night patrol yet. Some mercenary work also turned into part ownership of a mine. Hawke is now a businesswoman too. My quest log has grown a lot.

First up...well I guess the next part of the mood has bitten me officially. Which is a bit hard for me to justify and do...but thinking about my pre Veilguard 'origin story' and actually commiting it to paper as a full on story. Now the hem and haw is still kind of working on multiple writing projects, past, rpresent, and future, which also makes it hard because I get into a death spiral where I am doing a lot of writing but not a lot of...actually working on getting stuff published. But the mood has bit me and I have lost some steam on one of the future projects. Part of the thing to is I have basically decided to cut out the pre story and then the post story...obviously Oliver isn't going to go off and join the Crows now and just stay in Tevinter, so to save some space and time, also going to cut out him being a soldier. So the story starts with him getting back to Minrathous. Thinking of if I get it that hard posting links here or in the hype thread, so hopefully I am not blowing stuff out my own butt too much and who knows if I will even maintain momentum on this.
Anywhoo I went around to the Western Approach and picked up the Deathroot I needed to get the Assassin spec all finished up...which I did. So Kara is now an Assassin. Odd thing happened the first rift in the Western Approach also bugged out on me and wouldn't actually spawn any demons. So that happened. Also got a lot more crafting matts gathered for the future things I will be doing soon.
On the companion front actually feeling weirdly overwhelemed in this regard...but talked with Varric about Cassandra. Talked with Cullen about his Lyrium adiction. And thus the game begins of trying to time the Dorian-Cullen-Kara romance triangle.
Really like the Assasin tree. Makes it worth it for Mark of Death but was reading through the passives and do have to remember things. Also thought subterfuge had auto crit on stealth but seems it is just armor penetration...either way though. ANd the Focus ability is worthless so won't have to waste a point on it.

So I've been working a bit on my world state the past few days/weeks
And I want to change a few things on my Warden, but when I went to look at how far I'd need to replay it for it to be "canon"...I don't think I will xD (I'd need to replay 2 main missions plus a bunch of side quests)
I suspect there's a cheat that will allow me to do the thing I want, which means all I'd need to do is replay the Landsmeet for the other part I want to change.
Things I wanted to change are Marjolaine's fate (I typically kill her, but imo. it makes more sense for her to live since Leliana goes to Orlais eventually anyway) and who rules Ferelden (previously had both Alistair and Anora...but want it to be just Alistair)
'Course that means replaying Awakening and the other two dlc's as well, but I can live with that xD
After that going to replay my DA2 run as well, but going to play my Hawke as a rogue this time around as opposed to a mage...but still need to think of a new name for her

Due to the Lady of the Woods showing more skin than other characters in the game, I won't be able to post those images. It sucks since a few of them show the dialogue I chose How to kill an unconscious elf. excellent Isn't that cute. An elf turned to a furry. Death will fix that Get a load of this guy. Too much crazy here. I will heal your craziness by killing you. A tree talks. Impressive. GO AHEAD> MAKE MY DAY!!!!! My leg. SOMEONE HELP ME. I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE. I WANT MY MOMMY I meet the leader of the furries, Lady of the Woods. I like her. She has the same color as me except not as green. Let's go kill the elves

Pics from the ball, which I finished last night. Was thinking I might reunite Celene and Briala - grabbed the locket and talked to them both about it - but then the second round of investigations always makes me hate them all so I once again forced them to work together.
Eyes closed of course
The dance and the reveal
A better dance
Back at Skyhold ran around talking to everyone. Was finally able to go out the door on the other side of Vivienne and ran into this guy. The vault isn't available yet, otherwise he'd probably be there.
Met the Chargers, talked to Cass and Leliana about being candidates for Divine, and got Vivienne's wyvern quest (have 1 more book to find for her other one). Will probably stop off there 'on the way' to the Western Approach. So silly that even if she's with you for the hunt you have to go back to Skyhold to give her the goods.

Hey melbella I see you are still using imgur, I swapped to post images a while back after all the terrible changes to imgur and I can wholly recommend it now that I am used to the change. It is far easier to upload and post and the site is far faster. I am not usually one to recommend stuff like this but worth giving a try if you want to.

Hawke finally went on that night patrol. There was a lots of bandits. ... A lot of dead bandits.
Also, Hawke made two new acquaintance: a mage-hater called Fenris and a rebelious mage called Anders. Also, Donnic was saved, that please Aveline greatly.
Still on the hunt for the runaway kid mage and looks like the next adventures will be near the coast.

I tried to play DAO, after 10+ attempts where the game failed at launch went back to an older save losing almost an hour of gameplay. Got to Denerim for the first time did about 30 minutes of stuff and the game crashed again going in a door FFS.
Game would not launch again so I am giving up, I had no problems playing two times in a row I think earlier this year but maybe late last year.
Am downloading DA2, will see how that goes.

I cannot ALT TAB in DA2, this has not been a problem for me before, is it as simple as unticking Windows Fullscreen in the settings?

Turns out I did have enough materials to get Iron Bull and Cassandra new sets of armor and everything. Even used up the rest of my Stormheart metal for Cass's. Sometimes it is difficult to come up with new armor names for everyone and their equipment.
Also had weird and fun shannegans with the War Table as well. Was debating on taking Leiliana to the Wending Wood because, given the situation, I didn't think it would be a good idea to just send Cullen and a bunch of Templars in there...and it turns out that the only option was to send Cullen and the troops. Similar thing happened later Josephine and she was her only option.
The main thing of the day was going to the Forbidden Oasis. Probably my least favorite zone but there are fade rifts so it pretty much is mandatory to go through because I do like closing the rifts and what not. And getting that final quest. Also Venatori central and I was debating for a minute who to take along but then I remembered Bull does love taking on the Venatori so took him, Cassandra, and Dorian out. Part of the problem here is it is a bit of a maze. Probablem number 2 it requires you to find more Shards to actually open the door and complete the initial part of the quest. Killed the giant though. And fun tactical moment happened. I was concerned I forgot to give Dorian Dispel but I did...and then when I switched back in the middle of combat Kara was going through the motions of doing the Full Draw. Wiped out the first demon and then two regular shots eliminated two more. Three arrows three demons. It was cool. Also dropped a Venatori Spellbinder in one shot after crawling up a latter.
