An addundum to last time. I did not get the Iron Bull mission after all. The exclamation mark seemed to be for Maryden but she had nothing to say to. Hmm maybe it was Suterhland. And I ran an experiment and well...I think it worked but also this is not how I remembered it going last time. But decided to go to the BE to buy all the Dragon webbing I needed to craft the offensive grip thing and have something like 87 % crit damage on my bow, 217 % overall on the character. Crit chance dropped to 23 % but that will be made up in like 3 levels. Next thing up I kind of kept forgetting what I wanted to do and then went to go do other things. So I did Sera's mission and let the wife see it because she enjoys watching Sera making wine. Plus this time I pushed it and had her ask questions...which then pissed Sera off. Worse thing about it is it led to my Inquisitor 'aplogizing' to her later. Which is...annoying. As the wife mentioned should have had a dialogue option where you explain the situation to her and the view point going on that she wasn't serious...she was just trying to feel out the information. Skeevy little bastard. ANyways the thing I wanted to do was go off and hunt for more Pure Fire Essensces. So decided to try the Hissing Wastes to test out things. And so far, like its not even at its max damage potential yet but Kara is really starting to turn into a god of destruction. Had multiple crit hits in the 10-12 K range. One shotting Venatori Mages and other stuff throughout the map. Kind of weird that sometimes it seems the effects don't work right in regards to the crit hits triggering automatically and stealth regernarating on kill automatically. Though I suspect maybe that it does not count stealth regernerating on kill when you are in stealth in making the kill. It kind of ruins the point of being the sniper monkey...but on the other hand as I have mentioned being a sniper monkey in this regard is still really a cool way to play. Like sometimes I am tempted to do a Nightmare playthrough but given the setup I have....yeah not really. Though given Veilguard corrects that issue one of my maybe half plans is if I get the combat enough I might do a 'cannon' PT in Nightmare with my favorite Rook of the four I got brewing. And the Hissing Wastes. I love them. They are beautiful. But they also take a long time to get anywhere.

Addendum to yesterday's session: I got some banter with Iron Bull and Varric I don't remember hearing before. IB is apparently a big fan of hot chocolate and asked Varric to wrangle some cocoa for him. Then he just needed to get some milk and marshmallows, though he used the Orlesian (French) word for them, guimauve. I am assuming the IB/Dorian relationship will be 'canon' if the Inquisitor didn't romance either so I am working on getting that triggered. So far nothing - the last banter between them was Dorian asking if he should expect a knife in the back simply for being a Vint. Bull replied there were way more people ahead of him for that treatment.

Inqy Zara managed to get to the rift under the fake-lake in Crestwood. But first she dealt with a dragon. Try to spot it! The place is kinda pretty at night but Zara didn't understand how a "lamppost" underwater for 10 years could be lighted... Do spirit need light? After that, she went back home to Skyhold. Sold some stuff, crafted some stuff, send some people to do some stuff and talked to Cassandra who was looking for her fellow Seekers. So we did that too! There is a few dialogue changes in that mission if you did "In Hushed Whispers" instead of "Champion of the Just". Also, Lucius is raving mad and sound so stupid: "Seekers grew too proud and tried to make the world the way they wanted. I'm going to do better. I'll destroy the world and then create a better one." Do you think there is some sort of disease in Thedas that cause people to turn into ultra narcissic and then lunatics who aren't even paying attention to what they are saying?

Finished Jaws of Hakkon then went back to Skyhold for all the WT stuff that popped up. Only thing left is Trespasser. Hopefully it will start with no problem.

Varric has fans everywhere. I recruited him as one of Leliana's eyes and ears. Inquisitor Ameridan
Free Hakkon
Judging Storvacker. Also recruited her, much to Cullen's chagrin.
Now off to the Exalted Council. With Vivienne as Divine I will definitely be disbanding. Don't need to give her even more power.

Inqy Zara decided to visit the Emerald Graves, former home of the Dalish... And I got really bored. Tried respeccing a bit, but meh. KE is just too freaking easy. I might not finish this DAI run, but then I played the game back in June. Maybe I should reroll despite being over 20 hours in this PT. But I don't feel like redoing everything I have already done. Anyway, time for a break.

Had the same mod issue with Trespasser but this time it wouldn't load the save after getting started so I had to disable some mods. I kept the few still relevant - inventory space, better font, and the portrait, and that allowed the game to load. So, ones of the ones I disabled is the culprit but at this point it doesn't matter.
Talked to everyone, accidentally ran into a harlequin and tagged it, then started the Council. Teagan is as arse-holey as ever. Did the first jaunt through the eluvians and spoke the correct pass phrase to keep the spirits from attacking. Fought some Qunari, found some notes, then went back for another round of talking. Do you think I could tag another harlequin while actually looking for one? Nope. So, the dexterity stats will just have to be missed. Found the hat for the skeleton (cunning), all the expensive dog treats for Cullen's new best buddy (constitution), and straightened all the pictures (strength). The fireworks increase magic but that comes later. I'm missing the one for willpower though and I don't remember what it is.....
Left off just entering the Deep Roads. Found the first 3 pieces of the Taken Shape set. Iron Bull just looooves fighting demons.

Didn't get too much done today. The hunt for the Pure Fire Essences continues...and maybe has failed? Or at least I got to the point where I am just going to continue the game and continue to go through fade rifts as I get to them. I mean Kara is doing enough damage its not really neccessary but it would be nice later.
So cleared out like 4 Fade Rifts and started the Miners trapped in the Quarry. Kind of amusing though in a way because the Fade Rifts often pop up when discovering campfires. So I went to one camp after bumping into one of them and then got the camp...but the final rift was way the hell on the other side of the map by the last camp I got...so that was kind of annoying. Still fun though. And then to the Emprise same results did not get the needed Essenses. But there was a Pride Demon where I got over 14000 damage points. Plus I did get a chance to confirm my theory on why stealth wasn't recharging because I held down the button on a lark and saw that I was still in stealth at the time as I was killing the guy. So this neccessitated a starting change of tactics and it actually is becoming somewhat easy to get in the flow even with this in mind. May not be getting Crit Hits quite as often as I like, but still often enough. Like I can now be a bit bolder with stealth when clearing out the Fade Rifts because I have some expectation of being able to kill something to get back into stealth to disrupt the second wave. And Kara has enough DPS with the crits to make this build really viable...just not always 'fun'. As I went over last time.

Finished Act 1 last night, woot woot! Killed a dragon in the Bone Pit. Killed Kelder. Feynriel joined the Dalish. Helped some more mages. Watched Ketojan set himself on fire. Spoke to the companions and then had another go at the Blooming Rose. Premium With all side quests finished up, it was time to head to the Deep Roads. I made an interesting choice and brought one mage and 3 rogues Worked out alright! Bethany stayed with mom. Didn't make a deal with the Rock Wraith and fought a million things! But found plenty treasure and bought a mansion. I enjoy the mix of this nice but very bold and often sarcastic Hawke

Finished Trespasser. Angry-disbanded and pledged to save Solas 'if we can'. I had to reload a couple times at the Darvaraad. First time because I forgot to go back to the other areas and explode the gaatlok to a. steal Fen'harel's gold stockpile and b. find the titan mural chamber and c. pick up the Fen'harel note in the library. Then I reloaded again during the dragon section because I was having too hard a time getting the wheels aligned and didn't want the dragon to be killed in the meantime. I managed to get 4 magic points from the fireworks...I think my best score was only 76 or something horrible like that.
Just before going through the final eluvian I switched to the Sentinel Armor, tinted with Veil Quartz. It sucks that you get so much good loot here but have 0 time to enjoy any of it.
Pics! I took more but am too impatient to rename and upload all of them.
Spa Day
This is one of the Mythal statues in the Deep Roads but the head piece looks like someone else we know, yes? On the way to the Darvaraad Mmm...crunchy! Hello Wolfy Disbanding - annoying the game puts you back in the default tin soldier outfit instead of keeping the wardrobe option
Group shot Epilogue....not included but I think my favorite slide from Viv Divine is Cassandra quitting the Exalted Council because Viv is such a horrible person.
Now I'm off to re-read all the post-Trespasser comics and Tevinter Nights. Next weekend I'll be playing Starfield, getting ready for Shattered Space on 9/30 (Monday is such a weird day to release something).

I re-read Magekiller - forgot it actually takes place pre- and during DAI, not afterwards - and Knight Errant, which is after. These were both 5 issues series. The next 3 are only 3 issues each and The Missing is 4.

Hi you'll recently i did some quests main and side quests and it was fun. What else is there i still don't like Blackwall and Vivienne and lately i start disliking Solas and i cannot really explain why. Maybe there was always some disliking there in my previous playthroughs. And Blackwall it's mainly because of what he did in the past and Vivienne mostly because it's Vivienne.

Dove in and did a fair few of the companion missions today and also got in through some general house keeping.
Couple of notes in general once more seems I just...feel like there is a lot of dialogue with companions, but now I seem to be running out of it. Also starting to worry about Iron Bull's quest. Also as per usual I forgot to take a mage with me down to Valammar.
So did Varric's Quest, Blackwall's quest, and Dorian's quest. And Blackwall is still with the Inquisition openly serving. Still didn't re unite Dorian and his father on good terms. And was a bit tough on Varric accidentally.
Also cleared through the Fallow Mire and no real unique dialogue from Blackwall. Combat has started to give me some problems. Trying to work on balance on things and the issue is Kara is a bit glass cannon-y at times. But it still worked out and really the Warden Spell binder was quite tough.

I forgot a bit some of my Wartable adventurers I've had recently, nothing major. First off forgot the exact context but Josie failed to secure weapon's plans for the Inquisition in us getting into a bidding war with a noble. I again forget the context but remember rejecting Leliana's choice as being 'too violent'. So here we go on that. Also tried to play cute with the Those Across the Sea because thought I read that Leilianna would get your agents taken by the Executors so while her option made sense from a RP perspective I didn't want to lose anyone so I had Cullen ignore them...and agents got taken anyways. Teach me to MEtagame. Although maybe they get taken in either case? So going to spent a LOT of time talking about some thoughts I had about Veilguard in today's session as it pertains to my combat and and character, don't think this will be too spoilery, but at least warning that this is not so much what did I do today...but how it relates to Veilguard. Anyways big set piece number 1 was finding the Seekers with Cassandra at Caer Oswin. And combat. A lot of commentary has been made about just how vibrant and just how much information is going on in the Veilguard's combat and potential for issues both in terms of personal taste and even people worrying about the psychological and physical effects that could have. But as I have said it is not a big deal for me for 2 reasons. 1 because this has been a DA staple for a long time going back to Origins, so 2 of the 3 previous games has had rather over the top particle effects, and from a personal perspective like I do tend to like the information overload. It may be owing to my 'ADD' or what not but I like combat systems with a lot going on because more that is going on the more things I can do and what not...and I guess three sometimes I can just ignore and let the information overload just fade into the background. Now in Caer Oswin had a few combat encounters for close up positioning which hurt my eyes to where I had to glance away from the screen side eyes. And this just brings up a few important thoughts about how I feel we should go about judging Veilguard's combat. 1. Is it consistent with the series? I think it is given that there is a lot going on in some moments in Inquisition's screen and even Origins. Both of which had combat effects were annoying and painful to observe. And further while technological developments are important in the industry ultimatley it would be unfair to expect BioWare to just leave it all on the table and have a massive upgrade. 2. Industry standards. As I said its unfair but also worth comparing how far the industry has come and judging BioWare not only by them but their standards and the standards in the industry. Both in terms of limitations and what they *should* do. 3. Is it realistic? Bit more esoteric but also important to me especially in game mechanics that aren't fun. Yes, VGs will always be simulated so it will never be a 1 to 1 simulation of the real world...and nor should they be...but when discussing these things one should keep in mind whether it is internally or externally realistic. And bit more esoteric because I don't know exactly what med eval combat or new combat looks like in great detail. But then DA has magic and the like and often involves getting very close to your enemy. So of course if explosions and rifts are going off in your face of course there will be a lot going on. Though it should be noted the one thing I find most troubling about VGs UI is the ranged incoming indicator. Other combat note there was a time when I was facing off against three Quailbacks in the WA so I summoned a fade rift...then the fade rift ability instantly reachraged because I guess it was close enough...but I thought there was a cool down for it. But I looked and there wasn't. So I summoned a second in...didn't work though Quailback's are tough. Second bit from Caer Oswin the whole quest was about...how we deal with major revelations of corruption. Lucius went insane. Cassandra was sad and it caused her to question things but with Kara's help she was able to work through it and commit to doing better. Which reminded me of the arc I am cooking for Oliver. Because he is a Tevinter born. He owes a lot to Tevinter. He is a patriot who joined the military. I don't think he was fully blind to the issues in Tevinter society but he never realized the full extent. And then the Venatori happened. And then his revelations of further issues and rot seeping into the stones of his family, his society. Which again might cause him to face a choice...like Hira in Absolution as well. Give into anger and despair...or do something better. I think I know what his obvious choice is going to be but given that 'regret' is a major theme of the next game wonder how much he will get a chance to express that regret and regret and guilt was also a theme of the Caer Oswin quest. Second big set piece dealing with the Darkspawn in the Western Approach then wrapped up in the Exalted Plains hunting down the Dalish and doing the favor for Solas. Also before I forget did get that first chapter up on my fic so hope people don't mind me sharing it here... www.fanfiction.net/s/14395351/1/Rise-of-Rook

got in like 20 minutes last night but it was enough to ice the Crestwood dragon, 2 down/8 to go
What level/point in the game do people usually jump into Descent/Jaws? I'm always inclined to do them sooner rather than later but its been a while.

I'm the opposite. Descent enemies scale to the player so doing it at a lower level is easier.* I wait until Red Water unlocks at level 16 and then do that followed by Descent. Save JoH for level 20+ because the enemies there start at 20 and go up to 30 (1 encounter only).
*Note that even on Casual and level 16-17, the (*^(*^&)*& Ogres are still immune to nearly everything and have a gazillion hit points. Also, the good loot is level-locked at 18+ so you may want to wait until then.

So finally, April Hawke woke up and continued her adventures in Kirkwall yesterday as her puppet master unentangled himself from real life stuff and climbed out of the rabbit hole that is "The Charismatic Voice". See the "What are you listening to" thread for reference. Paused at Sundermount to see if the armour piece I missed for Merrill was still available but it was not but several Remnants and other pain in the butt enemies were. Still missing a scroll for the last one. Did Isabela's quest to find and kill Castillon, killed his flunky name escapes me but let Castillon go so Isabela and April could go sailing or make a quick getaway from Kirkwall. Killed a thousand spawning enemies in the process in Darktown and the docks. Spoke to Aveline and think I picked up the quest for her that leads to sacked Guard Captain Jevin. Went to the Bone Pit for Hubert and killed the dragon. Bioware Dev's: "Hey the spawning mechanic works a treat why not spawning dragonlings in a big dragon fight as well". That was about it. Pic's Killing Revenants - Yippee Isabela and Varric's dialogues are nearly always great Castillon loses hit ship, I said ship. Romance is blossoming and just maybe true love, I hope she doesn't change her name to The Dread Pirate Wesley. Added some dragon bones to the bone pit
