I sent Cole away yesterday I was already thinking about sending him away after Champions of the Just, but my Dwarf didn't really know yet what he was, so he let him stay (Cole being a mage theory was a good excuse to let him stay at first ). But after arriving in Skyhold and discussing the nature of what Cole is with Solas and the others, Edric was too suspicious of a spirity being, no matter if it insisted it was no demon. The scene after Cole making the Inquisitor forget is super good though! Really liked it, but it was so sad too. I love Cole. Forgive me, Cole! I also spent an hour trying to recreate Hawke and it didn't really work out. I had forgotten how atrocious the lighting in that CC is Now I'm well into Crestwood and Maker, is this still one of my favourite maps/missions. Say about DAI what you will, but the atmosphere there is soooo amazing. When draining the lake and seeing the old Crestwood homes, it's just so eerie. Well done, Bioware. I really love this game. The soundtrack makes it even better. How COULD you. Course your Inquisitor will never remember doing it. *** Got up through the end game of Jaws, on Ameridan's Trail, effectively. Did the quests with two possessions and....think I did something else but probably not all that important. DA POssession and abominations. Always an interesting bit of lore and weirdness since Abominations were supposed to be 'in lore' a bunch of really crazy and all chewed up looking creatures. Really horrible in everything. But probably a good first indication of lore segregation and how the lore probably was influenced by the people who wrote it...DA staple. It wasn't even true with Origins itself what with Wynne specifically running around. Then Anders. Flemeth herself. Seems her words that 'a soul cannot be forced on the unwilling' seems to confirm it. Now in this DLC we have two more people of the 'natural' abominations. We have the one who wouldn't let her spirit go, possessed most of her life even. Looks natural. Then Grandin also went along with his demon, so looked natural. But then there is also the interesting niggle because sometimes even the natural ones can go 'poof'. Like Uldred seemed to toture people into it, but it was consent after a fashion, and then we also ahve Uldred turning into a Pride Demon and Grandin turning into a rage demon. So its not that perfect... Also got me to consider builds and what not. Something I have been musing about with Veilguard and since I have been told...by our resident dev...that resistances and stuff can make people immune on the higher difficulties and what not so its kind of weird. I also, for reasons, want to dip my first Rook into nercosis since it is the new 'green' attack, for some bizarre reason but 1. whilst I'm not an expert think a lot of the Nercosis stuff is towards the 'duelist' spec and not the Veil Ranger which Oliver will be running as and two the resistance that Darkspawn has...which Darkspawn promises to be quite the threat. Of course this might neccessitate us changing up the build as they have also advertised or using companions, but the first one I don't really want to spend too much time doing. But then even with full on Rage demon that is still resistant to fire and I have a firebow of fireness...still did a lot of damage to the thing because fire is not the only important stat. Still wonder with all the gear, runes, and levelling just how much variety I can have since want to go for Necrosis, either fire or lightning...or both!...then still going to try and use crit stuff as some what of a secondary, but also health since Oliver is a tanky devil.

Had a weird arse play session today.
Kind of amazing that after multiple play throughs and over 900 hours in it I can still end up making the same mistakes over and over and over again. It sucks. In this case got through to the temple with Ameridan's end and the puzzle. Now I thought that you needed to solve the puzzle to get through to the dual shrines, but even in the back of my head I was wondering if that was true because I think I half remembered. Even thought I 'solved' it but then wiped the board so had to start over at first, so I thought. But finally looked it up. Felt embarrassed.
Didn't really stop there though as I stumbled through the woods for awhile to the becons. I fell off a mountain...probably multiple times...and tree trunks. Then I somehow went up ahead of myself and skipped to the one before the chasm before the next one. But then easily enough the one after the chasm actually made it all the way with no trouble which is a first.
But alas that is all I ended up doing today... at least so far...so we'll see if I get on and do anything more later.

Immediately after finishing my speedrun, I started another playthrough. Say hello to Pinkston. The goal for him is to marry Anora. Nothing else matters. OMG. Indeed I don't mind occasionally having a characte rwith a weird colour hair as I have a coupl eof times don es owit hRydre an dma ydo with a Rook eventually. But I d oprefer m characters t olook somewha tnormal. This character looks like a bi gpink spikeball.

The past few days I've done Here Lies the Abyss and Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts for the main story and also just exploring, leveling up and gathering resources.
I've now just started the Descent DLC. Been looking forward to this the whole playthrough. I've prepped my characters with some good custom weapon and armor. Made a sword with a superb cleansing rune that I named Makers Light.
Still really early, just the first level you can travel to. I love exploring the Deep Roads. The whole idea of subterranean cities and connecting roads that were overrun by an evil horde that stretches lower and lower in the planet is cool. One My favorite parts of The Fellowship of the Ring are when the Fellowship was traversing Moria. So whenever DA has us exploring the Deep Roads it taps into that. Hope we see some more of them in DAV.
Solved a Tower of Hanoi puzzle. Forgot that was in the DLC, but I got a little laugh out of it. Did like the Inquisitor complaining about it in the end.

Bit of a weird time with the boss fights though in a way...fights. Got through Jaws of Hakkon.
First off against Gurd whats his face went around and was doing pretty good against him and doing a lot of damage. But despite being pinned down by the rest of the team it seemed the fires still went out one by one so I was still trapped, running around, like a chicken with my head cut off. But it wasn't doing a lot of damage and Gurd was running low on health...so I decided to go after him instead and wrap him up.
Then with Hakkon kind of a weird boss fight in the end because 'He' has kids, Deepstalker types, and then he flies away...but does not generate Guard? So ended up being one of the easier Dragon Fights and certainly easier then the Sandy Howler. But then he was dying and on his last legs so I was trying to climb up the ice rocks on the opposite side to get an arrow shot...but then got nothing for my effort. The team crawled up the other side and killed Hakkon before I could do anything.
From there not much to say about things. Always strikes me as incredibly tragic with the conversation between Ameridan and the Inquisitor. But in this case, may've even said it before, but have to draw attention again to the memory about 'Telenadas, nothing is inevitable'. Do love Dragon Age. It has a lot of interesting concepts, quotes, very philsoophical, very malleable.
At the end of the day to since next stop Corypheus roamed around the Basin hunting for the memories but making sure I went after the wildlife I came across to build up focus. Actually bumped into the Ice Giant. Which since I couldn't use my focus abilities was actually a close thing. Almost had a party wipe...but then I backed off just enough to get the party back up to finish the thing off.
Next Stop. Doom Upon All the World.

And down goes Corypheus.
Always a bit unfortunate about this boss fight, much like the boss fight against the Clone Shepard, defeat them too quickly so can't get through all the dialogue and trash talking. Which say what you will about Cory but he does have a pretty good voice for the good ole trash talking. But in this case all he got to was insuling the Inquisitor.
Think I forgot Vivienne in the party after the fact. Weird things still happened as a lot of stuff just started to dissapear afterwards to. Didn't talk to Varric or Josie about the post party festivities.
Did decide to start working on Descent to.
In other news the last couple of days me and the wife has been having good fun where she has adopted the voice of the raspy grandma fish from sponge bob when quoting the Inquisitor...because she felt like it. It was pretty funny though.

Hey! I'm returned with a new DAI-pt! My first Dragon Age Templar character. Just for you, my lovely Ralph Hawke. I'm not sure, what I started... and I will finish the game with his one, or not, but I try. "Hawke, meet the Inquisitor, Angus Frederick Trevelyan of Ostwick! "(Maker preserve them both!) In game:

Bit of a funny development which I am not sure I noticed before and there at least is another connection between two things. Watching an episode of Arrow tonight and Curtis Holt mentioned Florence and the machines, in an off beat way...who did a song which showed up at the end of DA 2 'I'm not Calling you a Liar'. Of course the same episode also had John Barrowman in it which co starred in Torchwood is our favorite voice of the egg. So bit delightful, much chuckling.
Started the Descent in earnest tonight, got up about to the part where we do the battle of Heidrun...more or less. Pretty much on schedule in some ways. Something to point out though did forget, again, that there is actually no way to change your party between the main camp and Heidrun so one of the things I had to do was backtrack to get Sera in...especially since the blitz with Bull to that point had me use up most of my health pots so the rules applied. Hmm just realized forgot to restock the secondary supplies. That first Ogre is always a slog to.
Normally I give BioWare a lot of lattitude for the dialogue wheel paraphrase not really matching the spoken dialogue but early on has to have one of the worse examples of it, especially in a post ME 1/ DA 2 world. The paraphrase was like 'I need plans, not theories.' The line 'I don't care what is causing the earthquakes I'm just here to stop them.' Now sure that is kind of one read of the line admittedly so maybe I am being a bit too harsh...but that line comes off as being REALLY harsh in some ways and not at all practical. Which the next line from Ren also makes kind of bad kind of good 'a woman of action', which is what I was going for when picking it, but then it does also kind of make the actual spoken line sound that much worse. Figuring out things is an important part of any operation to stop them, I think any practical person would have at least some understanding of the concept, so so Inquisitor's line should have foccussed on finding answers and that all this arguing was not productive...or something like that.
I did also actually talk with Valta and Ren before heading into the deep roads in earnest, don't think I do this every playthrough but at this point I am likely to finish Inquisition well before Veilguard comes out so I am really trying to milk the time a bit. Ren did talk about the Legion a bit.
Same thing with reading the codex entries, almost wish I was a little bit more aggressive about that earlier, but in the end there was one here which talked about this miner pre first blight who was hearing a song which obviously relates to the whole Titan thing. But, still kind of fascinating.

So I'm getting close to finishing up "Act 1" of Inquisition.
Did most of the quests in the Hinterlands today, recruited Iron Bull, Blackwall and Dorian. Went through In Hushed Whispers (that quest always makes me cry ), allying with the mages (and seeing our boy Alistair again, yay!). Cleared out the Storm Coast, tracking down leads on the Wardens (Minerva(my Warden): ) but ultimately finding nothing Rescued our troops from some upstart Avvar And made a small start on the Temple of Solas...I mean Solassan (you ain't gonna tell me that place isn't connected to Solas in some capacity, it literally bears his name!)
So yeah...tomorrow moving on to Skyhold
Ah...I should point out I re-rolled my Inquisitor a few days back as a rogue, and also renamed her...plus gave her a slightly different look (different hairstyle and vallaslin) So this is her now...I named her Eliana, only to notice it's basically Leliana without the L , but I don't want to restart again
She's an archer, and I think I'll specialize her as an Artificer, but I'm not sure yet (I don't want to use Assassin, since my Hawke already is one)

Have to say that one of the best and most concentrated set pieces in the game, probably in the series, the battle of Heidrun Thaig. Just that terrific musical theme blazing in the background, reminding me vageuly of the theme to SG-1 coincedentally, and just going back through the Deep Roads just like in Origins, mowing down legions of Darkspawn in one epic run and gun fight. Really is peak Dragon Age in a lot of ways to and much like the other great fight the music tends to make it that much better, just rocking out to it, which also is a bit peak on the combat as well. Nice rythm. Can't wait for this kind of ser piece in Veilguard. Only went through 2 health pots.
On the first encounter with the Sha-Brytol..one of the disadvantages of the game and playing it so many times is you tend to forget things or things tend to fall into the background. But in this case did try and put myself in my own shoes many years ago, the terror and the wonder at facing the Sha-Brytol for the first time. Because of their vaguely Bianca like weapons, which was supposed to be one of a kind and here they were. Seemed like quite the game changer at the time...and given the rest of the lore it could still be. And they were a bit of a uptick in the combat difficulty, even as 'easy' as the battle of Heidrun was still had trouble. And poor Bull remains just out classed, maybe one playthrough I just won't do that to him but then part of Reaver is to have him on lesser health to take advantage of the buffs and what not. So delicate balance.
Then my game crashed right where it tends to have trouble, so once more lets hope it does not crash more often in the coming days and my save remains intact. Right as we were getting to the massive wave of the Sha-Brytol.

Only one story left in Tevinter Nights. I think I've actually enjoyed them more the second time around, even the ones I didn't particularly care for the first time. I just re-read Half Up Front this morning, and now I'm wondering what exactly did Dorian need Vadis to steal for him from the Archon's Palace? I also find it weird that Gatt would consider Varric in Kirkwall to be an ally of sorts, given that Inq forces and Qunari forces aren't exactly buddy buddy after Trespasser.

Completed my canon Inquisitor replay with the Trespasser DLC. It's just bittersweet that so few choices are being carried over in DAV, that sort of hung over the whole playthrough. The Inquisitor told Solas that he would stop him. The Inquisition was also disband. This was a choice I'm glad Bioware gave us. I also appreciate the three different tones you can take for making either path. Went with the "pleased" middle option that says the Inquisitions original purpose has been achieved in an upbeat way and it's time for the soldiers to go home.
The music in Trespasser is great. The battle theme when you are fighting the Saarebas is the best.
Always love ending slides. Call me simple but I like how things are going with characters just after the game is over and it's a cheap way of providing some exposition to the player. Wish they were voiced like the main game, but the artwork really puts you in the setting.

Finished re-reading Tevinter Nights (just had the last story, The Dread Wolf Take You, left) and The Missing. Neve made an appearance in the comic, and it had the first mention of the Shadow Dragons that I remember. Where else are they talked about? Were they in one of the DA Day stories from a couple years back? I would try to look for them if I wasn't afraid of coming across major game spoilers in the process.

Fighting Gurd Harofsen in Jaws of Hakkon. I can't for the life of me remember how I did it last time and he's wiping the floor with me. It's a tough fight, I cannot remember specifics, but I think you have to keep the fires alight and just wail on him as much as possible, think I took the minions out first.

I did actually forgot to mention...the other day...its been a weird couple of days for me. But one of the codex entries in Heidrun Keep. Last time writing, and even this time, didn't fully feel into it, don't know if anyone really noticed, but in this one they did mention how the whole Darkspawn infestation began. One of the better parts of zombie fiction because back when I watched Fear the Walking Dead it also started off that way. Not fast. Not all at once. But just a little here, a little there, great example of creeping horror. And similar things happened with the Dwarves and the Darkspawn. Of course they also mentioned the idea of a Darkspawn Queen at the heart of the world. Hmm. Anyways from there continued to forge out beyond the final fight with the Sha-Brytol in the caves to get to the Wellspring. Always sucks when a game crashes and is known to crash in a certain place it can suck your momentum out of you because you are afraid it'll happen again and don't want to risk it or be dissapointed. Plus since I am now way ahead of schedule on Veilguard so its kind of hard to find much motivation to continue to play or at least deliberatley try and stretch out the run time on this. So took me a hot minute to get back into things. But alas there was no problems at all. Also not as good as Heidrun but this next piece is notable for having Guardians of the Past which almost got shafted in the main game since you only get it in an optional boss fight. So glad it gets included here. And the next bit what I was worried about...the Guardian. And for the first time ever it was actually no problem at all. Sure used a regeneration potion but I actually didn't use a SINGLE regular Health pot and it was over so quickly. It just occured to me out of the blue in terms of strategy...focus on the cudgels first to break them away. Normally it seems to be a mad dash for the center I think but I did have the thought that if I deprived it of weapons it shouldn't hurt me too much, and it didn't. Even if it could still push up the rock things. Think Sera's Thousand Cuts also helped. Started Tresspasser but most of that was just puttering around. Realized I had a bit of an oopsie going on Kitty's Collar gives Bull X percent of healing for X amount of Health...but Kitty's Collar also gives Bull a chance to heal on death. So I just thought that was redundant so I gave Bull a new set of Dragon Bone armor. Much better stats wise over all and the key bit here, though there was some debate, I decided to give it guard on hit, so lets see if that works out. Also upgraded the Mighty Offensive TOnic to Max, fun part about that is the Crit Damage bonus is another 100%. So Kara, if she has it available, would do 325% Crit damage on crit hits. I think that is going to come in handy against a certain Qunari Mage later.

I have always wondered what the likeliehood that Varric gifted the Inquisitor the Hawke estate with the empty estate that he gifted her. Course that is my headcanon but I just have to wonder if that is actually legit in what what it could be... Basically got all the companion meetings out of the way, the rest of them, and started the Exalted Council in earnest. And the Inquisitor did go and get herself married to Cullen. Always a bit of a coin flip sometimes but that did work out in the end. Always get a good kick out of the Josephine play scene and the look on the Inquisitor's face...and then when dealing with the Iron Bull. Also didn't take Sera up on the Red Jenny or the pranks but glad to see that they also went and still maintained a good friendhsip. Coming to it at last and making a few deicisions along the way which helps, probably how I usually role play her anyways but this time with added context. Since I am probably going to disband the Inquisition this time out also decided to really lean into the idea of Kara wanting to keep the Inquisition going into it, thus that is what the character arc for Tresspasser being how that might not be the best idea...and kind of reinforcing some of the other bits from her character arc through the game. Of course if I don't decide to disband the Inquisition then it will just be business as usual. Going through to Fen'Harel's sanctuary and always the issue of Elven immortality kind of rears its ugly head again. So right now the Elves were supposedly immortal, Solas mentions it, Solas also mentions how Corypheus discovered the secret of 'effective immortality'. But then the memories mention that the Evanuris are 'just as mortal as you are'. Which of course the funny thing is if they are all immortal then there is that. But then there is also a difference between immortality and invulnerability...but I do also believe the secret lies within the ability for the body hopping and resurection. Its not really that perfect of a solution and there are interesting things happening here and there but the Evanuris, maybe the Elves themselves, could die, but then be reborn...during a period of Enuthinara? Also there is mentioning of 'never being bound'. WHich could work either way... but also is specifically mentioned when you bind spirits. Then there is the fascinating tableu of Solas removing the Vallaslin...which of course in this timeline the Inquisitor would not know about it since she never would've seen it. All interesting stuff to think about. Anything in the lore of binding spirits with markings or what not?

DAI So i picked up where i left of and did two more missions and one of those missions is my favorite if you can talk about favorite because in the end those missions can mean a certain death and that's never a good thing. We are nearing the end of the game so that means Corypheus here we come prepare yourself but i'm afraid that won't be enough. We also killed two more Dragons and we did a little exploring and finishing up for the next game The Veilguard and can hardly wait i hope that the game isn't been delayed and my first protagonist will be a Mage yeah definitely.

In Tresspasser finished up the Elven Ruins and then off to the Qunari mining operation after chatting with everyone. Sera of course was sus about the guards which is kind of an interesting perspective because just was thinking of the actual real world equivalent and those of us who are in the work force. Like could you really imagine hiring a Jenny to go after your boss? I guess some griping would follow back to her but her logic seems little sus. Ran into some codex entries and stuff in the Deep Roads which does have some interesting implications and also for Veilguard: So ran into an interesting series of statues. A pair of Wolves flanking a 'moonhead' which now looks very much like the one and only Ghil'anain. Like it is very distinctive and even the body shape had a little bit of a Ghil vibe as well. So was the wolf statues guarding? Watching?
Muddying the situation further though the codex entry started talking about the Dread Wolf and what he was doing guarding Mythal. Now that wasn't really a Mythal head shape...
But then again we haven't really ever seen Mythal's head shape or symbol that she is known for. Curiously though some of the statues in the Temple of Mythal also looked like some of the other head shapes that we have seen in the 'tamborine'. But it wouldn't be logical for her head shape to appear in that line up since she wasn't imprisoned by Fen'Harel. The other candidate for the position is Mythal's head crown thing, and wouldn't that be interesting.

Found a multiplayer session that wasn't some insane person forgotten on a lonely island still grinding away solo at a high dragon with a lvl 1 AW on heartbreaker difficulty.
Honor'd my username a-plenty. It really does beat walking. Great fun was had by all.

Played through The Descent and the game is going haywire. Had to fight the guardian four times because he kept freezing, cutscene at the end didn't start... now I'm back at Skyhold and the load times are suddenly nuts. Better start Trespasser soon.
