Pretty much just finished the Fallow Mire. This my 4th time doing so, and thinking/feeling about it afterwards raises it in my esteem some. I like that there is only one camp; like it's too dangerous to have more, makes you feel like you have to ration. The danger is heightened by trying to avoid the water. I like the lighting and rain. I think the undead could have been explained better and that there should be more hordes on hard mode. But the zone is tight, there is a goal at the end of it, and a battle with an Avaar Barbarian and such that adds to lore. Cole was finally in my party and gosh, I missed him. Telling me about what was going on in Fallow Mire, surprising Cassandra with his serious nature. Oh, by the way, my team is going to be Cass (LI), Cole, and Varric this run through. Will switch out Varric as needed for companion quests. But I really really want to see Varric interact with Cole and Cass more than I have in other play throughs. Someone once got onto me for having Varric wear something that covered his chest hair, so I've been careful to pick the right outfits. And my tinting is getting more subtle. In previous PTs, I'd picked an overarching color and then run around in all red, all blue, all green sort of out fits. But now I got the Everknit green, onyx metal, with deep browns, and occasional splashes of red. It looks more natural and pretty. ^^ Enough playing for the day. Going to interact with real people tonight which, of course, means I gotta scrub the place down. Come Anders! (my roomba. yes, I named him Anders.) Come Anders! To the Foyer! I do like the Fallow Mire. It has more of a spooky feeling and atmosphere than Chateau d'Onterre. That said, the undead problem is never explained. They do mention a plague, so might the problem be that people are dying off before they can get a proper cremation? And with the breach, demons are possessing corpses at a much greater rate than usual? I do like the idea of taking Cole to "haunted places" to get his insights. I usually knock off Fallow Mire early, though. Also, I've going with the mages lately. It's hard not to go to Redcliffe after Fiona invites you. And after going to Redcliffe, how can you turn your back on all the sympathetic mages you talk to? You also have a clearer view of an enemy in Redcliffe. At this point, I've got it in my head that the Inky who goes for the Templars is a non-mage human noble or a non-mage Tal Vashoth who retains the Qunari attitude toward mages. Do you focus on armor aesthetics before Skyhold as well? I tend to be more utilitarian even if the end result looks awful. (Is there anything than Battlemage Mail? You can tint to your heart's content and it still looks like a leisure suit!) After Skyhold, I try to give the team a unifying color via the tint apparatus.

The Deep Roads is a good place to easily fall off the edge of cliffs. Usually my so called "friends" do a good job of that. But at the moment my Inky is doing it on her own. In the final boss fight in Descent, my PC was struck by the rock tentacles while too close to the ledge and was ingloriously tossed off the ledge. To make matters worse, she kept respawning close to the ledge and the tentacles knocked her off several more times before she could move out of harm's way!

In the castle, we fought walking corpses, shades, darkspawn, and an undead Revenant. We also found the “evil mage” in the dungeons. He didn’t strike me as evil at all. The arlessa had hired him to tutor her son Connor in the arts of magic to save him being sent to the circle tower. Well I knew she was hiding something. I know a liar when I see one, being rather good at it myself if you know what I mean. Jowan believed it was in fact Connor who inadvertently had summoned some demon or something like that. Anyway, Jowan wasn’t all innocent. He had been hired by Teyrn Loghain to poison Arl Eamon. We sent Jowan away and pressed on. I may note on the side that we found the villages smiths’ daughter there as well and sent her home to her take care of her drunken father. All of which more or less filled my todays good deed quota. One thing I always find surprising is why would any Warden other than a former Circle Mage let Jowan go? He tried to kill Arl Eamon on behalf of your sworn enemy, Loghain! He's indirectly response for the deaths of all the villagers. If anything, I offer to bring him along to help us clear the castle of undead and he opts to remain in his cell. If you opt to kill Connor or sacrifice Isolde, the final cut scene of the mass funeral for Redcliffe is rather touching seeing Isolde without her son or Connor without his mother.

1. The story of the first Inquisitor and his friends is probably one of my favorite stories in DA:I, hands down. It's become one of my favorites in the series. I love the exploration of the history of Thedas. It gives me a lot of genuine emotion and I think it's amazing overall. It ranks up there with Legacy and Arrival (ME2) for me as one of the best DLCs BioWare has ever done. 2. This part is a bit melancholy for me. After I go to Mythal's Shrine, I'm taking all of Solas' gear off of him. Except for his customized robes and his staff. I'll strip the bits out of his armor and weapon, but the rest is getting divived up among my Trespasser party. I sometimes get a little melancholy at the end of a long game. I was at the end of Origins when I'd swap out anything really useful from Morrigan. This...this is worse. I'm kinda glad I've got the warm/shiny romance with Cullen this time. 3. One more thing: Cullen gave my a character a hug. Woohoo!!! Yes, something that little and quick made me very happy. It doesn't hurt that it's the same point in the game where Solas' is dumping the elven IQ. Cullen is concerned about having to order the IQ into battle. They talk and he just hugs her. Why isn't that in more romances??? I know hugs are tougher to animate, but sometimes my character doesn't need a tongue down her throat. A hug every now and then from a LI is very welcome by me. Lord knows that poor Hawke and Shepard needed more hugs. 1. Agreed. When I finished JoH after hearing so many people go on about Descent, I was like, WHAT IT WRONG WITH PEOPLE, IT WAS AMAZING. Instead of just enough information to keep us confused and hooked, like Trespasser, we straight up had a GAP in History filled in for us all neat and tidy, along with a proper introduction to the Avaar. 2. Huh. I've never been that attached to the gear in Inquisition, because I can always make another just like it. He can ride off into the sun set and give my amazing armor to a trusted underling for all I care. BUT. I DO say goodbye to each location. Camp in Origins, the MAnsion in 2, and Haven and Skyhold respectively when I know the time to leave has come. ^^ 3. I haven't tried all the romances, but the fact that Cullen gets to give you hugs in all the advisor cutscenes is a total win. Especially in Trespasser when you've just told them you're dying. MAybe Jose gets it too? But none of the other LIs do. It's sad. You can tint to your heart's content and it still looks like a leisure suit!) After Skyhold, I try to give the team a unifying color via the tint apparatus. 1. It's never explained because the writers have figured we get it by now. Spirits posess dead bodies, it's why we let birds eat them and fires burn them. And it's probably a bit hard for the undead dwarves to unbury themselves from a giant pile of rocks. Then Cole says there wasn't enough villagers to burn the dead after a while. But those hints are too subtle for a new player, whereas a repeat player who's bought all the books can fill in the gaps. 2. I'm following this DAI Area Story Chronology made by nightscrawl, a user on this forum. So, it's Hinterlands and Storm Coast then off to Skyhold. However, her argument for the Fallow Mire being post Skyhold arrival, when thinking about it, I don't know if I agree. Yes, the Avaar father strikes skyhold with a goat. But he probably didn't immediately find out exactly what happened to his son. So, I can see a Quiz saving the Soliders and then immediately going to do IHW or CoJ and the timing being about right since the Avaar father now has to find the new holdings. But maybe it was just as well, too. As a knight Enchanter, half my stuff is at Fallow Mire. So, if I get my speciality mission before going, I'll have gotten half my stuff without even trying. So, Immediately before or immediately after Skyhold seems about the same to me. I like taking Cole EVERYWHERE. Period. My last PT I played a rogue a bit creeped out by magic, so he was never in my party for those two reasons. How I missed his insights about the areas we were walking through. His innocent quips about how he liked helping such and such person, like little pats on my head that make me smile. I remember changing party even duing that play through just to release the emprise du lion miners to freedom and listen to him say the same line each time. haha. I agree about not doing In Hushed Whispers. It's why the only two times I plan to do CoJ are two people who get fed up with Fiona and Alexius duplicity and switch ups and leave immediately, not talking to anyone, and definitely not going to some Chantry for a secret meeting. Nothing particularly to do with hating mages though. 3. I'd like my characters not to look fugly. That's about my only requirement pre shyhold. If I can make them look good, I will. But this PT was the first time I really tried for anything pre skyhold. Pretty much impossible for a male elf mage to look good. It's why he's now running around in Descent mage mail, to hide the arms and chest that make him look like his head is two times larger than it should be. Update post to follow on my PT ^^

Judged an Avaar leader. Off to Tevinter he went. ME in my Quilt outfit and the mage throne I'm rather fond of. Last night, I ran around and got my Knight Enchanter Goods. Had to break story location order to hit the WEstern Approach, for the LAzurite, but oh well. Also, killed about 20 wisp spirits in a row in the Fallow Mire before looking online to see that you had to kill Spirit Wisps in 1 of 3 specific locations int he Fallow Mire for the wisp essense drop. Who's bright idea was that? How is that intuitive? How would you ever figure that out yourself? Then ran around to see what folks thought of my specialization and Solas had his personal quest scene. Also liked the discussion we had about Kinght Enchanter history. Officially my favorite mage specialization, the end. Solas really likes my elfy elf a lot. Dropping scenes like I'm romancing him or something. Speaking of romancing, I feel like the game is constantly throwing me flirt opportunities with everyone BUT Cass. And that one moment of weakness with Dorian in Haven has him coming on pretty strong. How did anyone get surprised by his homosexuality? Gosh darn, I was tempted, you better believe it. It's nice for one of the LIs to come on strong. Seems like everyone else is either oblivious or mildly rejecting. Then Jose. I don't know if this is just in my head or if the writers/voice actors actually change things for a male Quiz. Her body language and verbiage just screamed romantic interest/hope? When we went to go talk on the balcony. Probably in my head. Don't know why I didn't notice it the other 3 PTs. So, I thought it best I better devote myself this morning to doing Cass's "kill the rebels" quest line, hurry up and get myself locked in. One of them coincided with Solas' personal quest in the Exalted Plains, so off we went. I didn't let Solas kill the mages. That made him grumpy, but he'll get over it. IT's not that Ghi'ral (oh yeah, I renamed my character in my head.) anyway, it's not that Ghi'ral is a pacifist. It's just... people stop having the chance to Atone when they're dead. Making them dead just makes the living feel better. When we came back, Cass gave me her book scene and talked about her brother, finally. But that means I'd have to talk to Varric. So off to meet the Hawke I haven't technically finished the game of, but knew exactly what Hawke would do to fill the keep. haha. Conflicted on whether I succeeded or failed in remaking Reagan. With the bright sun view, she looks too white. *shrug* But I feel like I got the make up right, and by association, the eyes. Although from a distance, DA2 eyes look a bit yellow, up close, the eyes are yellow surrounded by purple. Sooo... Eyes: Check Makeup: Check HAir: Check SKin: meh Face/Nose Shape: meh So, Hawke is spoken to. Not enough Fenris romance mention, IMO. I really like how Diplomatic Hawke talks. NAiled the feeling of my character to a T. Whereas Sarcastic Hawke was kinda lame... Then it was time to intervene in Varric/Cass fight. I didn't lose points with Cass there, but I didn't win any either. Must---right---urge--to-mine--approval. Committed-to-RP. Got to flirt with Cass during that scene. This romance is back and forth. At first, I found it funny that she was shrugging off my compliments. Now it's just irritating that she won't recognize my interest. My elf got a bit testy with his voice acting, I could tell. Along the lines of, Cass: "You aren't serious." Ghi'ral: "I am serious!" Hopefully, that'll settle that argument and we can just simply move on to the liking each other bit. At this point, I wanted to check in with Sera to see if the game recognized us to be in a romance. But she would speak of nothing but going to Crestwood. So, we did. A shot of the gear coloring I like so much. Sera's legs are dragonling scales, so they're supposed to be red. A close up of Sera. I think these colors do her well. And that's it! I have real life to do today. packing, a 5 hour drive to Tennesee, then my work weekend. Tomorrow, I will be adding a 500-1000 word chapter to my EPIC huge fanfiction as I will not have video game access to suck me in. Then the shifts are too long Saturday and Sunday to do anything. Back Monday with more game updates. I'm ready to shop for candles and do the deed with my strong passionate Cass already! if only to keep me from jumping the Dorian/Jose train.

Played more of Alexandra's run last night and she met Hawke and Varric up on the battlements after returning from her travels in the Western Approach. Hawke provided some info about Corypheus and trouble with the Grey Wardens. He also mentioned about his Warden ally, Alistair, who's hiding out in Crestwood, so, the lady Inquisitor made arrangements to head down there. Cassandra eventually found out about Varric's antics and flipped the table on him! Although the dwarf apologized to Alex when she intervened, he had to make it up to the Seeker by writing the next issue of Swords and Shields.
Later, Alex set out for Crestwood with Cassandra, Sera and Dorian. They first helped defend the town from undead zombies and convinced Mayor Gregory Dedrick about draining the lake, so that they can get to the underground fade rift. The mayor was hesitant at first, but he reluctantly gave the lady Inquisitor the key to the dam's control tower. Keeping that in mind, Alex continued on to meet up with Hawke and Alistair at an isolated cave. Alex couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the Warden ally in person.
"The Alistair?! You fought in the fifth blight with the Hero of Ferelden!" she blurted.
Alistair heaved a dramatic sigh. "I'll never see the end of it. Will I?" he chuckled, "Yes, I was there. It was big.. The Hero of Ferelden killed it... It was all sunshine and roses.."
He then cut to the chase about the rest of the Wardens disappearing, because Corypheus was using a sort of fake calling to get them riled up. Alex asked if the Hero was part of it, but Alistair declined stating she left before all of the trouble started. He also gave the lady Inquisitor notes about some of the Wardens gathering at a ritual tower in the Western Approach. "Meet me there. I'm going to investigate," he finished leaving the cave.
Alex turned to Hawke. "Go with Alistair. I have to deal with that fade rift. I'm not leaving until Crestwood is safe," she stated.
The Champion nodded. "Of course, Inquisitor. We'll see you at the Western Approach," he answered turning to catch up with Alistair.
Alex called to her team. "Come on! We have work to do!" She jogged out of the cave.
"So, are we going to kick those dirty ol' bandits out of their fort? Can't wait to stick 'em with arrows!" Sera giggled while following behind and readying her bow.
"No," the lady Inquisitor deadpanned.
"What?! No?!" the archer shrieked, "What the frig, Inky?!"
"You don't suppose we're going to go rock climbing to get to that tower?!" Dorian scoffed catching up, "My outfit's already ruined under all this rain and mud!"
Cassandra, who remained silent the whole time, let out a snort.
Alex grinned at the trio. "That's precisely what I have in mind, Dorian."
"GET OUT!" Sera yelled, "I CAN'T STICK ARROWS IN MOUNTAINS!!"
"Vishante kaffas!" the Tevinter mage swore throwing up his hands in the air.
To be continued...

Every warden is a person. They are defined by a lot of different past experiences as well as inborn traits, outlooks etc. Sienna knows all to well how it is to be lowest, outcast, stepped on, used and discarded. Jowan was just a tool. At least that is how Sienna sees the situation.

From the diary of Kara Trevelyan: Leiliana is beginning to worry me. She killed the agent of Grand Mother...whats her face...and then is going around threatening her grandsons? Not what I would do. Going to have to watch her. Is this my fault somehow? No, she is responsible for her own actions. That is really all I have tonight. Sadly, because when I started playing I warped on over to the Emprise Du Lion and...the power went out. Panicked for a second that it might have corrupted my save since it cut off RIGHT when I jumped in. But when the power came on, right when I was getting ready for bed, it turned back on, so I checked and so far all systems are go.

The same could be said with people not liking The Witcher series or Final Fantasy series or The Elder Scrolls, etc. Perceptions, personal inclinations. This is the reason why he is the favourite with me. He is expressive and he isn't afraid to show it; the inquisitor's safety, her well-being is his chief concern, nothing else matters.

Not today exactly, but I did finish DAI for the first time over these last few days, and completed Trespasser too just the other. Obviously having left it so long and not paid it all that much attention, I wasn't expecting tooooo much from it. But the odd dodgy gameplay mechanic and a weaker main antagonist aside... I think Bioware really knocked it out the park! I ended up enjoying it a whole bunch, especially after Trespasser. Which happened to amazingly deal with the second of my aforementioned issues. Never really felt too much compulsion to do so with DA games, (not sure why, really) but for the first time I'm actually looking forward to doing some more runs, see how things pan out differently and catch a bunch of stuff I missed (Namely the chance at a Cullen romance when I'm not a dwarf, and also Jaws of Hakkon and Descent, as I didn't get to those). Currently planning my next Inquisitor...

I just finished Trespasser again. I'd recommend taking Bull along for his extra dialogue. I figured out why a lot of players love the DLC. It isn't just the revelations from the DLC. Nor is it just the elven romance. I think a lot of it came down to that final fight. It felt even more epic for me as a tank than it did on my archer. I think it's because you're right there in the enemy's face. First, you've got that incredible music playing. You know things are really bad and that the Inquisitor is about to die from the Mark going haywire. Secondly, it's got an excellent merging of story and gameplay. By the time you hit the final fight, you'll have to discharge every 10-15 seconds. It adds a lot to the urgency. Finally, the boss fight is tough. A big complaint among most players was that Cory was too easy and boring. The last battle is not easy or boring. Between the difficulty of the mage himself, the adds and the Anchor, it was a challenging fight.
Also, I watched the final scene with Solas carefully. As a romanced IQ, he kisses the character while stroking up her arm. With a friendly IQ, he touches their hand and lightly brushes their arm in the exact same pattern. The arm begins to dissolve. There was nothing so brutal as the IQ having their arm hacked off or needing to do it themselves. Solas does it with his magic.
I disbanded the Inquisition. Unlike Rowan, Valena has a lot more to live for. She's married to a wonderful man. She's close to her family and will always have the crew from the Inquisition. I also choose to redeem Solas. Valena was my take on a knight in shining armor. She would rather try to save her friend than kill him. Hurrah for a happy ending for one of my IQs. I'm not sure when I'm going to replay the game again. I already had some ending fatigue before I hit Trespasser and I don't want to burn myself out. With regards to Descent, I think I would I have enjoyed it a little more if there was more meat to the area. Most of the quests in Descent are just filler collection quests. The story is more interesting though. Unlike Trespasser, the story of Descent is as much a shock to the player as it is to the character.

Still roaming the Wastes with the boys. I think I'm going to miss out on the chess game (Solas and Bull banter is in the fairly early stages of Solas dissing the qun) but I did get some good lines between Varric and Bull that I don't recall hearing before. Note to Bull: don't try to tell Varric how to write his books. He will not be kind to you in the finished product. Ugh, poison spiders suck. And NM-level poison damage is actually pretty damaging. After getting shot with the green stuff, I could just watch as first Bruenor's guard and then his health would basically melt away. Luckily, Bull didn't drink all the health potions. Made it to the dog merchant. No schematics showed up in the first pass, so I bought the Helm of the Drosca instead. I think I might get all the Notes on the first try this time. I just found the last of the ones out in the middle of nowhere. There are 3 to go: 1 is inside a tomb, 1 is at the oasis, and the last one is over by the dragon. Next up: another day, another tomb to rob explore.

Back to the Inquisition: Issaar Adaar (mage, arcane warrior) in the Winter Palace. (I hate this quest, but have some fun moment. And much missed opportunity and fucking much Halla Statues…) So, some screenshots: Conclusion: Celene rules alone (Never succeed pairing with Briala...), and 100% court approval. Not bad from an "ox"... (97% at the end.) Let's dance:

From the Diary of Kara Trevelyan: It is kind of funny the bigger they are the harder they fall. Behmouth's, Red Lyrium Giants, and even Imshael himself. Granted they all took a lot of fire to bring down, and Cassandra got beat up a couple of times. But the Keep is ours. I have to wonder though if the Red Templars here belonged to Corypehus...or Imshael. We were under the assumption that he was a rear guard in the end of his lines. But this? This was odd.
Anyways afterwards we dived into Veska's Watch. With Blackwall. Cassandra objected. She feels that since he is not a Warden in fact that the end of the day he is more of a liability, and looking for any artifacts there is a waste of time. I disagreed. And it was good I did. I think it may bring Thom Ranier some peace. So in the course of doing the one in the Emprise I found I still need to do the one in the Fallow Mire...and I was hoping to avoid that one.

CatilinaIt probably doesn't help that you're playing the hardest race/class combination to get approval with. Human rogue/warrior is the easiest.

Met mother Giselle in Hinterlands in my brand new playthrough, which will be my canon, roleplayed and most thought over pt ever! I'm curious. Why/how do you know it's your canon? --------- So, things I remembered about the game I'm playing. Even though I tried desperately to save all the soliders that were helping me at Haven, they end up dead anyway. They're just dead bodies 5 minutes later when the dragon swoops through. Argh. Solas' scene in the mountains after the big sing a long: 1. Why is his fire blue when veil fire is green and normal fire is red? 2. WHY the heck is there a LAMP POST in the middle of nowhere on a mountain??!! But at least this confirms Lamposts existence. to go along with the "exactly one mailbox" in the Hinterlands. I still think it's so rude we get rid of Thren. Is her career just over just for supporting Loghain? Anora ditched her on the Inquisition and then the Inquisition kicked her too. She must be really sad. She was doing a good job and then gets replaced by some little noble boy. Also, in this World State, Loghain killed the Archdemon so why is he still so villified? I kind of feel like Loghain doing the US is totally unrecognized in DAI.

I couldn't decide which way to go the other night while playing my Brosca so I started up a new Cadash as well. I will have to play them in tandem =D Sienna Cadash who is DW rogue. It's a really wonderful scene when you let her be open and truthful of her criminal past to Josie ;-D. Josie nearly faints. I have taken her to Storm coast and cleared the Hinterlands as far as Hafter's woods. Will do a little more on the coast before CoTJ or IHW. Most likely CoTJ this time. The continuing story of warden Sienna Brosca So, this Loghain will stoop to nothing in his greed and hunger for power. On the way to Denerim we ran into a “poor” traveler in need. Well, it was an ambush. Of course. Rather well executed by the assassin really. The only problem was his mark. We soon proved to him that his team was no match for us. The assassin survived the ordeal and I resuscitated him so I could get some answers. To my surprise he spills all the beans before I even open my mouth more or less. He desperately wants to join our group. Probably because he feels it will protect him from his guild. Apparently, they don’t take to kindly to botched jobs. I accept his servitude much to Alistair’s dismay. The assassins name is Zevran and he will be an interesting addition to our motley crew. In Denerim we do a little sightseeing. Money making errands and I work out a little with my nimble hands. We met a knight who recognized me from Ostagar. He wanted to duel for his honor. Sodding dasher bit the dust, lost his head again. Alistair had tracked his sister to Denerim and wanted to see her. He had never met her but they were blood related and all but she would have nothing to do with him. A real shrew that one. Well, everyone is out for themselves these days it seems. Better Alistair learn this sooner rather than later. In brother Genitivis house we met only his assistant Weylon. Genitivi had gone to lake Calenhad. So that was our next step.

Catilina It probably doesn't help that you're playing the hardest race/class combination to get approval with. Human rogue/warrior is the easiest. Yes, but just at start. Non-mage human start at 45, mage start at 40, elf/dwarf start at 30, and qunari 25. Later all of them same, as I see.

As to your PC's mage robe, I'm surprised she didn't get the green robe the Firsts always seem to wear. Well, that's the thing isn't it. Even though my father was Keeper before Marethari, and I have the pure blood required of a Keeper. Marethari chose an outsider in Merrill, over me to be her first. Ashalle didn't tell me much of my father and maybe there was tension between him and his first. But whatever the reason, she chose Merrill. She'll probably be a much more responsible Keeper than I would have made anyway. I'm not bitter. I've gotten over it. I hardly ever think about it nowadays. It's come to my attention that Marethari may have been the First all along, with Sarel, her husband, listed as "The Second". If Mahariel's parents died when Dalish Warden was a baby, it would not have immediatley gone to Warden Baby till they showed signs of magic. And as it turns out, without a mod, the Marhariel baby never shows signs of magic, as the default state is such. Of course, in your head canon of the mod, be as outraged as you wanna be. But the clans don't seem to stick to that whole pure blood thing anyway, since Lanaya was made first with some effort on her part. But I thought the effort was due to her being city elf origin, not that she wasn't of the long line of pure blood.
