-snip- 1. Why is his fire blue when veil fire is green and normal fire is red? 2. WHY the heck is there a LAMP POST in the middle of nowhere on a mountain??!! But at least this confirms Lamposts existence. to go along with the "exactly one mailbox" in the Hinterlands. I still think it's so rude we get rid of Thren. Is her career just over just for supporting Loghain? Anora ditched her on the Inquisition and then the Inquisition kicked her too. She must be really sad. She was doing a good job and then gets replaced by some little noble boy. Also, in this World State, Loghain killed the Archdemon so why is he still so villified? I kind of feel like Loghain doing the US is totally unrecognized in DAI. 1. Because having red or green fire would clash with the surrounding colors and create a distraction. Meanwhile light blue suits the area well, is not too distracting while still warming up the area and it creates a mystical aura, perfect for explaining that old elven magic. As in how does how did he get blue fire? Either something to do with heat, or he knows the same magic as Concept/Cover art Morrigan. Considering she probably learned it from Flemmeth, it's not a far guess that elves had some talents in coloring their light sources. 2. Maybe there was a road/path there, long ago and the lampposts are a type of cairn system that utilized fire? Or those SUDDENLY BRONTO's had some lampposts in their travelling packs and that thieving elf stole one of them to use as a set piece?

From the Diary of Kara Trevelyan: It is kind of funny the bigger they are the harder they fall. Behmouth's, Red Lyrium Giants, and even Imshael himself. Granted they all took a lot of fire to bring down, and Cassandra got beat up a couple of times. But the Keep is ours. I have to wonder though if the Red Templars here belonged to Corypehus...or Imshael. We were under the assumption that he was a rear guard in the end of his lines. But this? This was odd.
Anyways afterwards we dived into Veska's Watch. With Blackwall. Cassandra objected. She feels that since he is not a Warden in fact that the end of the day he is more of a liability, and looking for any artifacts there is a waste of time. I disagreed. And it was good I did. I think it may bring Thom Ranier some peace. So in the course of doing the one in the Emprise I found I still need to do the one in the Fallow Mire...and I was hoping to avoid that one.
How did you do in Valeska's Watch? Did you fall in the hole? I've managed to NOT fall in the hole in only 3 PTs, my current one being the third.

I used up five health pots falling down the hole and falling off the mountain just outside of Veska's Watch. Considering I used up only one health pot for my entire assault n Suledin and Veska combined...poorly.

Of course, in your head canon of the mod, be as outraged as you wanna be. But the clans don't seem to stick to that whole pure blood thing anyway, since Lanaya was made first with some effort on her part. But I thought the effort was due to her being city elf origin, not that she wasn't of the long line of pure blood. Maybe it's just that they don't always have that option, but where they do, they would use it. But as a pure blood, I consider myself superior to Merrill, just as she considers herself superior to Feynriel for being a dirty half cast, and resents having Marethari use the ancient magics for him and not her. (If the Bioware writers had any foresight, they would have made me a mage and made me first.)

But other than Tamlen just being another orphan? I can't seem to find out when/how his parents died or even if they were part of the Sabrae clan or some other clan.

I am studying elven details and I am becoming increasingly disturbed by how many unnamed clans their are. It's like they made this series to be super focused on the elves, in the end, while not bothering with any of the fine detail work at all. The clans don't have names. There are only two confirmed artifacts, a book from Witch Hunt and the arulin'holm. It's like they wrote the Dalish as an "Idea" and not an actual culture. What this has confirmed for me, and I suppose it's good news, is that I could write almost anything I wanted in my fanfiction and not break canon.

I'm also getting weirded out by a Dragon Age tradition. We've now had three games where the player can kill a Dalish clan. The Nature of the Beast quest chain in DA:O and Merrill's clan in DA2. Which is the Dalish Warden's clan. This one has been the worst since we can kill them offscreen and it's your own PC's clan this time. Yeah, the Dalish are more of a story vehicle and a concept then they are a detailed group. I think the eluvian kinda counts, although that's more of an Elvhen artifact as opposed to a Dalish one. Thinking about it, we could possibly see all Dalish wiped out depending upon how DA4 turns out. A few of the ME writers came to the DA team, including Patrick Weekes. Those that have played the ME series know how much they enjoy giving the player a chance to wipe an entire group or race off the map. That doesn't bode well.

Those aren't the only clans potentially wiped off the map. The three you listed: Sabrae, Zathrian's, Lavellan but also Vellana's clan by the Architect and Clan Virnehn by Imshael. Potentially 5 entire clans of the Dalish could be destroyed. And it's not like there are that many of them.

Finished up the Hissing Wastes except for meeting the Chantry sister 2 more times. Bull and Solas started their chess game (I got two banters so far out of the five). I might have to wander a bit more so they can finish it up.
After playing the whole zone in NM mode and having the party wipe against a particularly nasty group of Venatori, I think my penance is paid and I can go back to Hard mode once I leave. Took out the Sandy Howler and her (few) babies and found the loot the Vints were looking for in the dwarfy tomb.
Something strange about dwarves living on the surface just like "regular" dwarves. The big question is, what happened to drive them up there? I'm pretty sure Orzammar's records don't talk about infighting between the thaigs before they all fell to the darkspawn. Then again, maybe that's one reason they did fall - infighting left them weak and unable to band together in a crisis. As for Fairel's city, I bet that place looked spectacular before the Blight turned the whole area into a wasteland. I wonder if the darkspawn got them too? If not, what killed them off? Other dwarves? We know that Kal'Sharok attacked Cad'halash for giving refuge to elves fleeing from Tevinter. Maybe they did the same to Fairel's people on the surface?
A bit of fun/frustration. I wasn't sure if it was possible, but there's some scaffolding behind the Colossus that you can climb on. So, I decided I wanted to also climb up on the statue. After much jumping and flailing, I finally managed to get Bruenor balanced on its outstretched hand. Whenever I get around to uploading my screenshots, I'll make sure to post that one.
Not much left to do. One more trip to the Oasis to finish up the temple and then it will be time to hit Arbor Wilds.

Met mother Giselle in Hinterlands in my brand new playthrough, which will be my canon, roleplayed and most thought over pt ever! I'm curious. Why/how do you know it's your canon? --------- So, things I remembered about the game I'm playing. Even though I tried desperately to save all the soliders that were helping me at Haven, they end up dead anyway. They're just dead bodies 5 minutes later when the dragon swoops through. Argh. Solas' scene in the mountains after the big sing a long: 1. Why is his fire blue when veil fire is green and normal fire is red? 2. WHY the heck is there a LAMP POST in the middle of nowhere on a mountain??!!But at least this confirms Lamposts existence. to go along with the "exactly one mailbox" in the Hinterlands. I kind of feel like Loghain doing the US is totally unrecognized in DAI.What's the point of saving any of the Havenites? They all end up being unemployed at Skyhold anyhow! If you run into Segrit at Skyhold, the first time he says something like "So, you get a new title and I get the boot! I see how it is!" Yes, that lamp post does stick out as being odd. But like you said, if they're travelling along Roderick's pilgrims path, that makes sense.

deadlydwarfFelissa voluntarily becomes a chantry enunciate. Maneave isn't as clear cut happy, but does say it gives her more time to study what she likes. Seggrit hates it, but if his business sucks, you're not on to just keep shopping there out of loyalty. He's kind of a jerk anyway. Adun wasn't happy to be healer in charge in the first place. Seems relieved to be rid of the duty. Bit Thren. Dunno. Feel like she'd be depressed at this point

What do people think of the idea that the father of Wynne's child is Gregoire?
Also, does anybody else read about Zevran in WoT2 and think that somehow is father dying was actually the result of a small Crow contract? His name is also not Aranai, that was the name of his Crow Master.

phoray In one of your recent post you linked to someone's recommendations on what order to do the various areas to avoid the problem of over-leveling. Intrigued, I dropped the PT I was doing (where I was so over-leveled, the battle of Haven was a cakewalk). I'm trying to follow her sequence and have added the "Take It Slow" Trial for good measure. So far, so good. A couple of goofy moments stand out, however. Note that until recently, I never used mods for DAI. After finding out how easy they were to install with the modmanager, I downloaded a bunch of them...and then largely forgot about most of them. So anyhow, I'm taken totally by surprise when my Dalish elf first wakes up in Haven after the Pride Demon fight...and she's totally naked! This is the scene with the frightened elf servant -- the "At once" girl. I always thought it was kind of strange that the elf girl appears so scared of your PC. This time, there was a reason for her shock! (Yes, I took screen shots, but this is a "family friendly" site! ) On another occasion, I was at Lake Luthias where I recruited Blackwall. As frequently happens with the "Grizzly End" trial -- a bear shows up. My PC goes after the bear, but Blackwall goes off and does his own thing -- he picks a fight with Lord Woolsey! Given the level 1 junk Blackwall comes with, he goes down quickly and Lord Woolsey and the bear ultimately annihilate the rest of the gang. Oh well...

phoray Pretty sure Thren is still employed by the Inquisition. "Just not at the fore" as Morris says. Think she hints at something similar, but when you need to speak to her she's nowhere to be found. As for last post. The ambiance stuff was just me being a twit. Was sure I remembered more blue fire in the games, but then it was nowhere to be seen once I started digging about. The lore reason is truthfully less lore and more that the Dragon Age artists dig giving their mages blue fire. Morrigan's cover model for Witch hunt had some nice blue flames in her palms, so I just took it a bit further and claimed it as elven magic. Saw that Heroes of Dragon age was also fond of blue flames for their mages. And the path the Inquisition is not the Pilgrims path I think, but an old road Roderick found while on his summer pilgrimage. As for Wynne and Gregoir, the only thing I have to say is that she's got good taste. Because hot damn. The true reason I'm pro circle, made flesh. deadlydwarf Naked Inquisitor is the best Inquisitor. I wonder if reaching Skyhold will also be as...revealing about your character. Because that would be hilarious. One thing I'm digging about mods is that suddenly, a lot of the elves have long, beautiful hair. And Anora's buns are back in fashion. Just alot of pretty hair on a lot of pretty faces. --- And did stuff today! Hamin danced with Florianne, who was wearing a brand new dress and a bit more lively textures than the last time around. Also, Hamin slowed down on the nug grease in his hair, or maybe he could spread it more now that it reaches infinity and beyond. Celene and Brialla furthered the elven agenda, Florianne was taken as a quest reward and Josephine got the balcony dance. Every one was happy, except for Cullen who will probably hitting the Heralds Rest for some drinks once he reaches Skyhold. Next session with Hamin will probably have him cooling off at Emprise du Lion.

phoray In one of your recent post you linked to someone's recommendations on what order to do the various areas to avoid the problem of over-leveling. Oh well... Hey! What mods are you using! :-P I find that even ground and take it slowly takes care of most of the overleveling problems. Right now I'm so out of training that vanilla nightmare is enough for me. At least I think I don't have any trials on .

phoray Pretty sure Thren is still employed by the Inquisition. ---And did stuff today! Truthfully, not much point to a nudity mod in DAI. It worked well in DAO because of the love/romance scenes within the game and the ones modders were able to create and add to the game. "Skinquisition" (I think that's what the mod is called) really has no point. It replaces the Inky pajamas with nudity. It worked for the "waking up at Haven" scene. But then seeing my PC report for war table missions was a bit much and I disabled it. (I think I will reactivate before my next PT because it does make sense for that one scene.) I'd be interested in hearing what mods you're using and how they're working out. For my current PC, I downloaded sliders from nexus and added all the supporting mods - hair, complexion, etc. - the modder recommended. You mention giving Florianne a new dress. Do you know if there are any mods that do that for a female PC? (Ideally for all the female Inquisition personnel.)

Curious CrowProbably not Gregoire. I'm not sure he would have written that letter to Wynne. The Father wrote that he would have broken his Chantry Templar vows to raise his son, and e was very angry that Wynne withheld that it was his child. Would Gregoire have written that?

From the Diary of Kara Trevelyan: Drew out the Knight Lieutenant or whatever his name is Carol in the Emerald Graves. One of the biggest of Corypheus's supporters. So went to there. And went after him. And tried to kill him. He didn't go down without a fight. Cole went down, but then we dealt with him. Heck I might have gotten knocked on my arse too.
Perhaps the biggest revelation of our trip though is Fairbanks is secretly an orphaned commoner. He has to know...but this bares some...possibilities. He may not like it but we could use more nobles who understand what the common people are going through, from their interference.
Also been dodging Giants left and right. So, I am off to kill a Dragon in the Emerald Graves. Since I did not get my hands on Fade Touched Silverite, to the best of my knowledge anyways, I gave Cassandra a Dragon slaying rune. So off to pretty much swing by and get each Dragon, starting with the Emerald Graves. I am also told by a friend of mine that Jyn Erso looks, and act like, Kara T.

Do you know if there are any mods that do that for a female PC? (Ideally for all the female Inquisition personnel.) The new dresses are just recolors of the old dresses. This time around I used Florianne Tarot Retexture and Empress Celene's Red Ballgown. But I'm also very fond of Royal Retextures. Adore Florianne as a peacock. If you have Trespasser then you can use Trespasser Skyhold PJ Replacer and Scematics to use the wedding dress (and a lot of the multiplayer armors) as Skyhold Pajamas or armors. The dress then has serveral recolors, for example The Dress which is very lovely. The recolors don't work in Trespasser itself, but the pj mod does. So if you want quizzy to wear a dress for say, Sera's wedding, then that's an option. And because I love to show off my quizzies, I think Ramona looked quite fetching in the black and gold dress. There is also a mermaid dress on the Nexus, but haven't tried it and it supposedly has wonky textures. But it might be nice. Also been using The Mask Shop to remove the cloth bun from female quizzy's masks and to have hair visible with masks. Hairmods have mostly been from Skaramoosh and Kadust on Nexus. Nothing but good things to say about those two. Also using Morrigan Outfit Retexture, since I refuse to believe she hasn't changed her style in 10 years. The creator also has a bunch of pretty pajama mods. Haven't had troubles with any of them. Not touching complexions mods because I want to be able to jump into the Black Emporium on whim.

phoray Maybe he was different when he was younger? Maybe the event caused him to become more strict and professional, to prevent this sort of mess from happening again? The writer at least was loyal enough to the Chantry for Wynne to go straight to the First Enchanter with the matter, even if he claims she was wrong in that regard. And Greagoir is quick enough to listen to the First Enchanters advice if the Warden brings him out alive, even if he was prepared to anull the Circle when the Warden went in. If Greagoir was a die hard Chantry follower he would probably have been on Cullens side on how to handle this. Yet he's perfectly willing to listen and heed the words of a mage who has spent quite sometime under the hands of a of Blood Mage. But I have no idea. I don't think it's out of the question, but not a die hard supporter of that ship either. I just thinks he looks nice with his lovely beard.

It seems a lot of the outfits/designs of NPCs are due to the awful hair options in the game. The scouts wear hoods that almost completely cover their faces, the dwarf women (even Bianca) wear hoods, most NPCS have short or otherwise covered up hair. They can obviously design better hair (Morrigan is about the only example though) but either didn't have the time to do so for everyone or couldn't figure out how to make it workable via the CC. There's always the third option of "it was all on purpose," but I can't believe anyone would think Florianne's 'do looks good or that no women in the entire continent have long hair that is actually visible.
