I continued Issaar Adaar's story, with some favor to the people of the Inner Circle. Cassandra (Issaar tried to convince her, that she dont want to be Divine.) Leliana (Divine issue again... ...and a letter from Dead Justinia) Morrigan showed the elf artifact Blackwall told that his father had killed a little dog... ...and disappeared. Issaar an Bull found him in Val Royeaux. Under the gallows Surprisingly Cullens seems impressed The judgment Cole was afraid that the blood mages bind him. Solas and Varric quarreled, that he should be more spirit or more human. Issaar went with them to help him. Vivienne wanted a wyvern heart, but did not say why. Issaar thought, who so idiot, who is the idiot who act blindly? Vivienne is not reliable. ...And the terrible vengeance + Cullen helped to save Kirkwall from the vengeful, angry Princeling of Starkhaven What prompts Sebastian to try to take Kirkwall? I've never gotten that. If Hawke did not killed Anders (regardless, exiled him, or ask him for help, and supported templars or mages after this decision).

deadlydwarf Sebastian threatens to bring the Starkhaven army back to Kirkwall if Hawke doesn't kill Anders right then and there near the end of DA2. Because Seb is an ass, that's exactly what he does in DA:I if you leave Anders alive in the Keep. You can use Cullen to have Aveline throw the brat out of the city. Yeah, Seb waited two years to try to attack Kirkwall. Instead of focusing on important things like seeing his people safely through the mage/templar war, he's trying to occupy Kirkwall.

Just did Adamant. So. If you open a Fade Rift in the Fade...where do they go? Also, the anchor keeps ME alive in the Fade. Have I created some kind of Anchor Bubble over the rest of the troops? Varric and Blackwall don't say much about being in the Fade when we first get there, which is a bit lame. Would have welcomed some Sera cussing to lighten it up. Also, I've brought Cass to the Fade a long while back, but it's been a while so I'd forgotten what Nightmare said to her. Mocking her for believing the Quiz might have been the Herald while I'm in a blossoming romance with her was a bit of a punch to the gut. I guess I mean, it affected me more emotionally as a player because in my head I'm role playing someone in love with her. Made me feel a bit of an ass for running around saying I'm not the Chosen One (which nets me disapproval with Cass as it is.) Then some more disapproval from her when I kept the Wardens I wonder if I'll ever get her romance to kick in at this point... I still have Finding the bad Templars/Mages and Finding the Seekers to make up for it I guess. I've never ended up single at the end of a game, but I'm worried about it this time, a tad afraid to go talk to her until maybe I do some of her quests to boost her mood. Hawke's face of shame when the Spirit apologizes for not being the Divine. I love that look. Also sad face when the Fear Demon talks about Fenris dying. NEVER! It was an honor to have fought with you, Stroud. May the Dread Wolf never catch your scent. Perhaps since you're already in the Fade, Falon'din will be able to find and guide you. Speaking of the Dread Wolf... Solas Greatly Disapproved too. NANER naner, you can't take "You're so awesome" balcony speech back, naner naner. Annnnnd...still no sense in Hawke going to Weishaupt. Or why she growls "Corypheus is mine." at the Fear Demon. Life's mysteries. Then she tells me to take care of Varric for her. Uh, he's right over there? How about you share a pint before you run off, huh? It's amazing when you go out of your way to take companions who seem appropriate for a particular mission and none of the NPCs seem to notice. None of the Wardens seem to notice Blackwall even when I speak to him regarding the Wardens via dialogue. I take Varric to Adamant because of his connection to Hawke, but if I choose to leave Hawke in the Fade, he's totally taken by surprise when Hawke's gone upon the return to Adamant. Oh well... I suppose we should be grateful that the game is as good as it is despite such oversights.

Because if I remember correctly the descision was just betwen the Inquisitor and the 2 of them. So Varric was probably out and getting through the rift? IDK I'll have to play it again...one day.

The journey of Warden Commander Drako Amell, The Hero of Ferelden: (DA:O, DA:A, and Witch hunt) The Chronicles of Tyros Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall: The Path of Inquisitor Mason Trevelyan, Herald of Andraste: The Journey continues, Spent the last couple of days securing the area and getting the refugees some basic supplies. The open plains of Ferelden are not a place you want to spend the night with no blanket and an empty belly. We've met several people who have agreed to operate in the field for the Inquisition. Closing rifts in the air and fighting off the horrors that fall from them seems to inspire. Reaching Horse Master Dennet is proving difficult though. I'll have to deal with the Mages and Templars first. Assuming I can get him to help us, he's not going to be able to herd his horses through a war zone. There are also stories of bandits on the roads making pests of themselves... I don't know what it is exactly, but every so often I hear a faint roar off in the distance. Whatever it is... it's big... Very big... ...We tried tracking the mages, only to find that there were three different groups of Mages out here. The bulk of them are hold up in Redcliff. A smaller group has a place in an outpost off to the west. Neither of which is doing any of the fighting. They are trying to stay out of it from what I could tell. We eventually find the hideout of the Mages that are openly fighting. There aren't many of them left, but one mage can take out an entire army with the right spell and enough Lyrium... or Blood. I try to approach peacefully, but they attack us on sight. They all swarmed... we had to kill them. There were still several out in the plains fighting the Templars, but without reinforcements, they wouldn't last long. They would either die or run to one of the other groups of Mages in the area. Groups that these former Templars would turn their sights on next, So I will turn my sights to them before they have time to regroup. I have a pretty good idea of where their base is already... ...Templars are horrible at hide and go seek. Their secret base is just off a main road. Their fortifications were less than impressive. Most of them were Lyrium deprived. Just enough dust to fight off the shakes, but they were hardly at their best. A few more days like this and they would be little more than wandering madmen. Some claim they already are... I attempt to talk to them as I did with the mages, but again we are attacked on sight. Considering the state they were in, I was amazed they weren't attacking each other. They didn't offer us much choice. We killed those in the camp. The men out in the field would eventually scatter. I've asked some scouts to keep an eye out for the remains of the Mages and Templars. Keeping them out of the Cross Roads and away from the refugees takes priority though... ...I've been tracking down rifts in the area and closing as many as I can. There's only one left, but it's proving... difficult. It has some powerful defenders. We were about to mount our fourth attempt when a woman came running to our camp. Her clothes were in rags. She complained of bandits on the road that attacked her and her husband's wagon as they were trying to get out of the valley. Her husband was killed and she barely escaped. I decided to put the rift off for the time being and go speak to the scouts about these highwaymen. We pick up one story after another. Whoever these men are, they are not acting like bandits. The few we have faced are well trained and organized. Simple thugs, they are not. Something else is going on here... ...We eventually track them back to their hideout. A fortress tucked away in the hills. The place is guarded by some of the strongest warriors I've run into yet. Luckily most of them are scattered out. They could be dealt with one at a time. Had they all been together, I doubt I would be here to talk about it. We find notes and letters revealing that these bandits were a Mercenary company hired to scare off refugees from a local Deep Roads entrance. We find the entrance and it's crawling with Carta. If we just left them, they would simply hire another band of Mercs. We head into the Deeps to flush them out of the area, but find that they are under assault from Darkspawn. These Dwarves were transporting Lyrium up to the Mages and Templars fighting above them. A good little scheme as long as a bunch of monsters don't crawl out of the depths to eat you. No telling how long the Carta has been fighting off the Darkspawn. No wonder the Templars were rationing their Lyrium supply. We fight our way through the Carta and Darkspawn till we find where the beasts are coming from and seal off their tunnels. The remaining Carta flee the area, but I have no doubt that they will be back eventually... ...With the Mages, Templars, bandits, and most of the Rifts closed, we make the run to Master Dennets farms. Seems his farm hands have told him about the Inquisition and all that we have been doing in the area. He didn't fight me on joining the Inquisition, but insisted on fortifying the area so the war doesn't spread back to threaten his people. A reasonable request all things considered. We tend to some problems with the local wildlife and map out some good locations for watch towers. That, along with the Inquisitions forces patrolling the area, was enough to convince the old man. Once the towers are complete he'll move his mounts to Haven. While he prepares to do that, I am giving that last Rift another shot. Once I get that closed I'm going back to Haven and sleeping for a week...

"Blackwall? have you been hearing this calling?" Then the Wardens seem to recognize the name Blackwall, even if they don't realize he's not the same man, and listen to him at Adamant because of it. Well, I mean ,even if I'd left Hawke in the Fade, It's shown that Varric and the other two companions have already gone on ahead through the rift without the Quiz. So there they are at Adamant, anxiously waiting for the rest of the crew to come through the rift. Then only two people come through. So, that's never broken my immersion the same as what just happened. Where Varric is ten feet away, literally, from Hawke and HAwke tells me to take care of him.

I always kill Anders so that's one I've never run into. First he deceives you, then he commits an act of terrorism. Your primary mission as Hawke is trying to keep the peace between contentious factions. Anders betrays you. Had he blown up the Templar barracks, that I could understand though not condone. The Chantry not so much, even if my Hawke is not particularly religious.

Regarding Anders: Still didn't get why Anders didn't just wait 5 minutes and blow Elthina, Meredith, and Orsino up altogether. 5 minutes, man. That's all we needed, and then the Templars would have been toothless while they scrambled for leadership and we could have led an assault on the Gallows to free the mages nice and proper and left the loyalists behind for the Templars to tend to. But nuuuuu. deadlydwarfI just played it, and you can see the rift open wide hanging out behind the big spider.

The set-up for the scene is you have this big monster that stands between you and escape from the Fade. Hence, the necessity to sacrifice Hawke or Stroud so that the others could follow the Quiz as he/she opens a rift to return home. Oh well... And yes, the "take care of Varric" line doesn't make sense unless Varric wasn't one of the companions you took to Adamant. How much would it have cost to have the Hawke actors read one more line to cover this situation?

I suppose that's possible. But isn't getting out of the Fade dependent on the PC and his/her mark? I would've thought no one escapes the Fade unless they follow behind the PC as she/he opens a rift to get them back home. I got the feeling the rift was already open which is why they went there in the first place and we never saw the Inquisitor open the rift in the first place, just use it. Two rifts are involved. The Rift that was open to bring the PRide Demon through for Clarel to bind was still open when the dragon attacked and still open when we left that scene to follow Clarel. We are never given the option to close it. And when it opens initially, you can actually see the shadow of th enightmare in the green. I noticed that for the first time tonight. Then, when the bridge breaks, The Quiz opens a Rift so we all don't plummet to our deaths. We all fall through alive and unharmed. That Rift may also still be open, but it's in the middle of the air and plot dictates we don't care anymore. But we can't reach THAT one. And even if we could, it's midair and useless to us, unless we want to finish plummeting to our deaths. So, that leaves our focus on the only other rift we know is nearby to the place we just were. The Clarel Binding Demon one. I think they even mention it specifically. How they know where it is? the whole point of following the Divine Spirit was to make sure we didn't get lost. Also, the nightmare demon is right next to it and he keeps goading us as well. So off we go. But I don't think Quiz is required to exit safely, just to enter safely.

All would be happy and logical.

deadlydwarfI hadn't thought it was to save ALL of them. I thought it was to save the Quiz, specifically, and only one sacrifice was needed to save the Quiz. Can't imagine any of the Companions just standing on the other side of the big monster going, "Man, I hope they make That decision soon."

Hmmm, trying to fill in the blanks on the Fade situation... After Clarel blasts Cory's dragon and that part of Adamant begins to crumble, Inky opens a rift that allows them to fall into the Fade rather than to their deaths on Thedas. So, is their goal while in the Fade to make their way back to this rift? Again, you have the monster blocking the way to the exit. Can the other companions really proceed toward the open rift without Stroud or Hawke providing a distraction to the beast?

The Rift that Erimund and Clarel opened way earlier. The rift Quiz opened is in the middle of the air and useless. The Spirit Divine blasts the big monster out of the way. So, it's knocked out. You deal with the skinny Cory sized demon and kill it. Three companions have a head start and make a run for the rift. We wanna be out of there. Just then, Mr. Big Spider Monster wakes up and makes an appearance. A Flesh wall between you and the other companions. Who I assume didn't notice and jumped right on through that rift. So the problem is this flesh wall blocking your way. Someone needs to beat on it and distract it's tentacles while you run around it to the other side where the rift is. Pick one and do so.

You're probably right...I'll have to pay more attention next time Inky goes to the Fade. Oh well...no matter; you accept what the game gives you.

Re: Adamant discussion - I think this time I actually saw Loghain go down before the scene switched to out of the Fade.
**** Bruenor finished up JoH. Raided the fortress, had his beard braids turn to icicles, killed some lackeys (needed 2 tries vs the spellbinders since I'm pretty sure all 4 of them were promoted versions the first time and both Cass and Dorian were nearly permanently face-planted ). Gurd wasn't a problem at all, and the end of the battle didn't bug out for the first time in forever.
Met Inquisitor Ameridan and bid him a fond farewell after promising to finish what he started (well, technically the ancient Jaws of Hakkon started it....). Gathered up all Ameridan's last memories before taking on the dragon. Hakkon didn't want to fight fair and kept perching up out of reach but eventually he got tired of that strategy and then tried to sit on Bruenor's head.
Informed Professor Kenric of what transpired at the old temple, then made one last trip to Stone-Bear Hold. The hold voted to make Bruenor an honorary member and named him Inquisitor First-Thaw, in honor of defeating Hakkon, their god of winter. Afterward, Storvacker made an appearance to plead her case for allowing herself to be captured by the Hakkonites. Bruenor decided this was one bear he could like, so he recruited her as an agent. Cassandra made a disgusted noise.
He then headed back to Skyhold to do all the outstanding WT missions (chose Cullen for the bear one, of course) and organize his inventory (again!). Some good loot came out of the Basin; should be useful down the road.
**** Now there's just one more dragon to kill to complete the collection. It's a toss-up between Gamordan Stormrider and the Greater Mistral. I usually try to leave both of these be since they are minding their own business for the most part. I've got Bruenor currently in the Plains to take on Stormrider, but I might change my mind - she looks so cute splashing around in the swamp. I also need to make one last trip to the Basin to pick up the regenerated rift goo. Then, Trespasser.

Well, I was just happy they included a question for the Quiz at that point. "Blackwall? have you been hearing this calling?" Then the Wardens seem to recognize the name Blackwall, even if they don't realize he's not the same man, and listen to him at Adamant because of it. I never recruited Blackwell, but from what I gather, he is just pretending to be a Grey Warden. Other Grey Wardens would know instantly that he wasn't tainted. Just as Duncan knew the Dalish warden was tainted, and Ruck in the deep roads knew straight away the warden was tainted. I wasn't sure how the mages would react to an Elf, so I took Leliana with me to enlist the mages to the cause. Knight-Captain Carrol wouldn't take me to see the mages unless I left Leliana with him. i.imgur.com/4I82Ufd.jpgShe wasn't interested in what Carrol wanted, but assured him anything he had heard would pale in comparison to the tales of debauchery and excess she could tell him on the long boat ride across the lake. i.imgur.com/XkxjFtl.jpgBut when we got inside the tower, Knight-Commander Greagoir informed us that the Templars had failed in the one job they were there to do, killing mages that got possessed. i.imgur.com/MekL6OV.jpgI was going to return to camp and get Alister and Morrigan, but I figured time is of the essence. Although I stopped off to see if the quartermaster had anything we could use. We're there trying to save their lives, and he wants 106 gold for a miserable belt. He must have been a bloody dwarf in another life. Keep your sodden belt, I hope an abomination hangs you with it. (Yeah, I only had 86 gold) Behind the great doors, bodies of mages and templars alike littered the floors. Then we came upon a mage in battle with a demon. It was the old woman I had met at Ostagar, she said if we were going to clear the tower of demons, she insisted on coming with us. Well having a mage join us couldn't hurt, unless of course she turns into an abomination and tries to kill us. Nah, she's not the type. i.imgur.com/tFFL3bY.jpgFire again, what is it with demons and fire anyway? Oh look, there's an Elf, let's set him on fire. i.imgur.com/3ZzkJDM.jpgAmong the confusion, this moron was trying to clean the place. Wynne said he was tranquil, Yeah I knew a couple of tranquil back in the alienage, only we called them retarded. i.imgur.com/zT8DYe5.jpgAh, and these must be the blood mages I've heard so much about. i.imgur.com/9o7AkFZ.jpgWhat sort of foul magic is this? I got distracted for one second and got attacked from everywhere. i.imgur.com/sM20SrD.jpgAnd this one had five templars on the go at once. No wonder she was too tired to put up much of a fight. i.imgur.com/6ZGHyEC.jpgA few words from this one and BAM!, we're in the fade. i.imgur.com/PugCkCo.jpgMake no deals, and take no prisoners. i.imgur.com/c6JF149.jpgA few demons later... i.imgur.com/BdA4bHS.jpgand we're back in the tower. Well don't just gawk at them Leliana, shoot! i.imgur.com/cr3RGua.jpgI'll have to get Alister to teach this templar how to dispel magic. i.imgur.com/cQerpIG.jpgSo this is the lunatic that started all this, wait...I recognize him from Ostagar. i.imgur.com/ThWhCLS.jpgWith him dead i.imgur.com/aaCHS1q.jpgThe first enchanter regained his faculties. i.imgur.com/0yZ9h68.jpgKnight-Commander Greagoir declared the tower safe, and First Enchanter Irving promised us the mages aid. He also gave Wynne leave to accompany us. i.imgur.com/FAiLl1D.jpgWynne was worried how easily the mages got possessed. I said don't worry that could never happen to you Wynne. i.imgur.com/mFAEXxl.jpg

Holy snowballs guys. Just...wow. Okay, so I decided to get the Hinterlands started. This time, rather than putting Crossroads off, I went there straight away. I really wanted to slow down and do things like read the codex for each landmark. The first one you can grab if you go straight from the camp to the Crossroads is a codex for Tyradda Bright Axe. In it, they make a reference to a child known as Morigahann'Nan as a descent to her. Once you complete all of the related codex to Tyradda, you get a (pretty long) wartable mission to retrieve her weapon. Turns out that "Bright Axe" actually means mage staff. Wait, it gets more interesting. In this first codex, there is a reference to Tyradda laying with "a leaf-eared lover" and having a child from that chance encounter. According to this a child named "Morrighan'Nan" that is supposed to be much later descendant from this encounter was foretold. She was seen as having an important destiny. Now, consider Morrigan. She mentions in DA:O that Flemeth might have choosen her for her magical skills when she was very young. She suspects she was abducted by Flemeth from a local Chasnid tribe. Now, we haven't seen any Chasnid in southern Ferelden since Origins. We have seen the Avvar. My guess is that the Chasnid and Avvar is supposed to be one in the same. In short, Morrigan was prophesied by the Avvar. She's quite gifted in magic and what's more, comes from elven blood. Flemeth might have been waiting in the shadows to see Morrigan born, then snatched her when the time was right.

My guess is that the Chasnid and Avvar is supposed to be one in the same. If by Chasnid, you mean Chasind, then I'm not sure I buy that. There is quite a lot of lore that says they are different races. First in battle with each other. Then in battle together against the Alamarri. Flemeth led the Chasind against the Alamarri, but was defeated by Cormac (unless you believe Morrigan's version) The Avvar stayed in the North and the Chasind retreated to Ostagar. Then all three together as the Alamarri against Tevinter. But Maferath was still considered Avvar not an Alamarri like his wife Andraste. Edit: I just checked the wiki and it says originally they were both from the Alamarri, so depending on how early this prophesy was foretold, they may have been. Edit 2: I was in camp, so I tried to get Morrigan's version of Flemeth invading the North again. But unlike Leliana, Morrigan will only tell you something once. (listen, I shall say this only once. ) But I think she said Flemeth was only attached to the legend much later.

Not the rift the Quiz opened. Something I've never been really clear on in that scene, is the demon that controls that area the mini Cory or the big beasty? One is a master and the other is just another guardian. My initial impression was that the mutated Arcane Horror was the lordling of the island that's what was talking to you, but considering the Spirit goes after the spider.... maybe that is the real boss of nightmare land? Hard to say... And for record, I send the Warden to distract the Spider. Only sent in Hawke once just to see what happened and immediately reloaded. Love my champion too much to be left to rot in a demonic hell when there is another option.

bardox I think they are both the Nightmare. Skinny britches is an aspect of the Nightmare, so he's like an arm that grew off the Nightmare, fell off and started a career in arm wrestling. Figure the big guy is the stronger of the two, but they are on equal level in the master/guardian role, being the same person and all. After all, fear of the Blight is a powerful thing and you are in it's domain, who says it needs to be in just one form? And it's handy to have two working parts of yourself when faith spirits like to fling themselves at you and explode. As for who goes to beat up Spidey for me? Hawke, almost all the time. Especially those I'm fond of. Because I know they can kick that eight legged butt and survive. You can't even put a dent my headcanon, Bioware. Varric little crying session is an amusing bonus. And did nothing in DA world today, because stupid sexy vampires...
