We met with Teagan at the mill. He said there was another way into the castle. A secret tunnel known only to the family. i.imgur.com/GH6xCNf.jpgJust then the Arl's Orlesian wife came running down the castle path. She showed no concern for the people of the town, and demanded Teagan return to the castle with her. Although one look at a handsome young Elf and she seemed to forget all about her poor husband and son. Look at her, undressing me with those eyes. Who is this man Teagan? Hey, my eyes are up here lady. i.imgur.com/yf4FAlZ.jpgDon't be impertinent! i.imgur.com/5XnqTtr.jpgSo Bann Teagan went back to the castle with Arlessa Isolde and us plebs took the tunnel. It came out in the castle dungeon and we had to fight a few undead i.imgur.com/Kx5CawH.jpgbefore we could talk to the mage prisoner. i.imgur.com/dok34X6.jpgHe said that Teyrn Mac Tir hired him to teach the Arl's apostate son, and to poison the Arl for the good of Ferelden. I thought, I can't leave him to the mercy of the undead just for being a patriot. Alister said, " hey you can't just let a blood mage loose. I said just because he's covered in blood, it doesn't make him a blood mage Alister, you've been reading too many templar manuals, if he was a blood mage he would have cut his palms and blown the bloody door off it's hinges. Wynne said, no, he is a blood mage. Alright, so he's a blood mage, which one of you is going to cut him down in cold blood? That's what I thought. Sheesh, seems you don't win any friends saving the life of a mage in this town. So we went back to killing undead and trying to find our way through the castle. i.imgur.com/zUhMIac.jpgi.imgur.com/aKXufdQ.jpgThen inside the main hall we find Bann Teagan doing party tricks for the Arl's son. i.imgur.com/3juFnLt.jpgAnd there we have it, the source of all evil... No not Isolde, the boy! Seems the boy had done a deal with a demon and become an abomination. i.imgur.com/viNp5Dx.jpgTeagan laid the blame squarely at Isolde's feet, and said now we have no choice but to kill the boy. i.imgur.com/LJdEfZg.jpgAlister said, I don't like killing the boy, but he's an abomination, we have no choice. I said Wynne, your an abomination, what do you think we should do? He's possessed by a creature of the fade, you've got to kill him, it's the only way. Leliana said, we can't kill a young boy, please don't tell me your even considering that. So three against one for killing the boy, the pants win, we're not killing the boy. What are our options? Isolde said, what about the mage? he might know something about this demon. I said yes, well, about that...what else have we got? i.imgur.com/xow22sC.jpgWynne said, when I said chopping the boy up in to little pieces is the only way, I meant the only way apart from killing the demon without hurting the boy. If you wanted to go that route, it's up to you. But it means we'll have to walk all the way back to the tower to get lyrium and mages. Alister said, that's if they'll even do it... Well slap on a beard and call me a dwarf, but I'm not sensing a lot of love for this boy. I've got family coming tomorrow, so Conner will probably have to stay possessed until after Christmas. Merry Christmas Dragon Agers

I'm going to cheat and say I kept an eye on the DA forums as a mod. I have a ton of laundry to do. Joy of joys, right? I'll probably play DAI after my husband and I get home from my parents on Sunday. That is if we don't pass out right when we get home. The holidays tend to wipe us out.
I've also got two dozen cookies to bake tomorrow night. One batch of peanut butter, one batch of chocolate chip. I might have to do a dozen and a half of the chocolate chip. I make a good sandwich cookie and my brother put away three of them last year. These are the big puffy ones too. This year I'm taking chocolate frosting and adding orange zest for the sandwich cookies.

olnorton Is this Isolde? Wow, didn't know there were mods around for her. Her question is still a running gag around here. ("Who iz diz woman, Teagan?") I believe there is a 10 hour video of this somewhere on YT. If you feel like a little torture. The rest of this post turned into an off topic rant, so I'll put it in spoilers. Somehow my plans for a quiet lazy Christmas have been overturned and I'm not happy about that. We planned to stay home since we're both busy with our theses and pretty stressed out. We told everyone we want to use the holidays to relax but his family kept nagging so they'll come to our place tomorrow with his very energetic and annoying nephew in tow (7 yrs old). They expect food and entertainment and we haven't even decorated anything. (Since we both don't care and had no time. Also we don't even own decoration stuff.) I bet we won't hear the end of it although we warned them. The day after my mother and her partner will visit which I'm lookin forward to, but I'll have to cook again. But usually my mother helps, too, and it is way more enjoyable having her around than the other part of the family. (Which sounds mean, but they are..weird and exhausting). And just today our dishwasher decided to start leaking and we can't find the cause nor afford to pay someone to look at it. I feel like crawling under some blankets and not come back out until Monday.
The conversation with my professor went well, at least when we decided to switch from video conference to telephone since the connection was awful and we constantly had to ask what the other one just said. He did remember but he misunderstood some things that I told him via e-mail so I'm reassured and he is also that everything is going well. Still, a Merry Christmas to all of you guys! Or whatever holiday you might be celebrating. Or not. It just dawned on me that I usually dress up my avatars in forums for the season but I didn't even think of it until now. Maybe I'll do it later that evening.

Can you cook two days worth of finger foods or cold dishes or make fondue? Or tell them it's a Pot Luck?
Anyways, good luck, and GL with the thesis

Thank you! And yes I guess we will have to get a new one next year. We had this one just for a year and the warrant expired two months ago. Typical. It was bought second hand so a lot cheaper than a new one but still. Tomorrow we will not have a fancy dinner but a thing that is (in a literal translation) called a "cheese night". Basically you have lots of different types of cheeses, that you eat with baguette, butter and stuff like olives, bellpeppers, grapes and have a nice bottle of wine to go with it. So we don't actually have to cook, just prepare some things. It's not fancy and if you hate cheese you're screwed but I love cheese so I'll be fine.

Yep, that was what I was thinking about, the finger foods. Here it's called "wine & cheese" party
To bring it back to DA, I have a short day at work today (thanks, management!) & the weather is terrible (very dark and cold, and about to snow) so I am going to take off, shop for a bunch of foodstuffs, and mix & match cooking festive things and X-mas decorating with playing video-games. Then I have a whole week off work, yay. Hope to either finish the DA:Origins or a ME3 run to make it the two full trilogy runs. Can't decide which one yet. DA:O is new story for me, and ME3 is more interesting.

I was very productive today in the DA universe:
- go timetravelling with The Doct... ah ... I mean Dorian - Save the inqusition from an angry Tevinter mage, who wants to play god and his slightly creepy pet and falling down a mineshaft on the way out (not cool... not even for a dwarf), now I have to listen to a cheesy chantry song and some religious rambling from Mother Giselle, despite just wanting my sleep - convincing the horse master that it would be great to leave his family behind to come tending horses for the inquisition (well, I let Viv convince him, she is great at it)

From the diary of Kara Trevelyan: After dealing with the west and moving to see the Avarr who are friendly we moved east into the valley and along the river itself. In the process we ran into Colette, Professor Kennrick's research assistant. Saving her from a pack of Lurkers. Whether or not we move on from there, is anyone's guess. And then we saved Stavoakor. Apparently they were trying to bind their 'god' (a spirit) to the bear...and then use it to wage war against the lowlands. A bear...against the lowlands. I mean its a bear. But I have killed many of these so called Hakkonites, and granted I suppose they are touger then even the Venatori, but they still fall, and soldiers should have a good enough time with it in the first place.
Regardless afterwards I led the charge against the Jaws. Still easy to kill but some of my party are having issues... So I am having an issue. Iron Bull is dropping, like that, as long as he has guard on he is fine. But as soon as it leaves he just drops. So trying to track it down I was checking out his stats and low and behold he is just....weak...-280% in his resitances across the board. Needless to say I have checked all his equipment, even removed Dredd, and nothing seems to be the cause of this weakness...help?

For my first playthrough of DA:I on my ps4 I created a Lavellan who is my Revas Surana if she never became a warden and instead ran away with Jowan. After she escaped the Circle, she traveled to the Free Marches, since the Templars still had her phylactery she believed it was best to get as much distance from Ferelden as possible. She managed to find clan Lavellan and was reluctantly accepted in. They're last first had died and most were not happy with a "flat ear" taking that position. However, the Keeper was more accepting of Surana, and Surana was determined to prove her worth.
She certainly different from my other Lavellans in that she accepts the title as the Herald. Not because she really believes it. In fact she doesn't even believe in the Maker. But because she reveals in how the title pisses the Chantry off, and that she believes she can use it to help the city elves. The woman in the bar believes that Lavellan had come to shame them in how badly they've treated the elves, if she being the Herald has that affect then this is a good thing. Its time for humans to see the elves as their equal and what better way to do that then for them to believe that their prophet had chosen an elf to save them.

Haha, this remind me Iron Bull and my Adaar (My Inquisitor(s) usually accept this title, because of the people's morale. In war situation this is an important factor.)

Has he ever come in contact with the materials called fade-touched veridium, stormheart or dragonling scales? Also check his amulets and rings for that dreaded disease.

Well...shit. I think Bull needs a new Axe. Give him some Dawnstone goodies. Cheers him up like nothing else. This is actually kind of amusing. For three playthroughs, maybe even more, I have been using the ability because I thought it was amazing and very, very Bull that it gave them a damage bonus using it against other people and then those people suffered 300 % damage bonus from the entire freaking party too. I did not realize it meant that it was a penalty against Bull...no wonder he has always been so freaking squishy. Heh might even give him fade touched silverite at this point. And his armor is already crafted with Dawnstone. Wanting to give him something more offensive...

I did not realize it meant that it was a penalty against Bull...no wonder he has always been so freaking squishy. Heh might even give him fade touched silverite at this point. And his armor is already crafted with Dawnstone. Wanting to give him something more offensive...
Ugh, the dreaded Berserk ability. I sell any fade-touched stuff with that on it, just so I don't use it by accident.
You can make his armor out of whatever, then tint it with Dawnstone 'cause he thinks the color is pretty.

I meant to play today. I really did, but I made a stop in the forge to upgrade my Inq's armor and then.... Spent four hours giving everyone a new wardrobe and weapons. Left to collect resources when needed and before I knew it... well... I will make better progress tomorrow.
I did get the Boon of the Spoon today. It's a crap weapon, but with proper armor enhancements, Bull can use it pretty well. It's an expensive flip, but watching the Iron Bull beat a dragon or giant to death with an over sized spoon is priceless.... priceless I say!

olnorton Is this Isolde? Wow, didn't know there were mods around for her. She was a previous mage warden, I tried to make her look like Charlise Theron, she didn't really turn out, so I made her the Arlessa. And I'll edit my previous post to include that classic line. The family phoned and said they were still 130 K's from the city. So I thought I'd whip in, save the boy and be back in time for lunch. I wasn't fully convinced of Wynne's desire to save the boy. And Morrigan didn't even want to help the village. So I asked First Enchanter Irving to enter the fade and slay the demon. A Desire Demon! Whoa, that's way more than I wanted to know about the First Enchanter. i.imgur.com/o4MIfZB.jpgAw no, this is the desire demon, sorry Irving. i.imgur.com/pTzDWTP.jpgBut when the demon couldn't best Irving in battle... i.imgur.com/G3RTL6r.jpgshe tried a different tact. I would have been tempted, but Irving didn't have a bar of it... i.imgur.com/JBwT8hS.jpgand slew the foul temptress... i.imgur.com/0DK0lVD.jpgsaving the village. i.imgur.com/ZiseJSZ.jpgBut the Arl was still gravely ill. The Arlessa said she had hired a scholar by the name of Brother Genitivi, to find the Urn of Sacred Ashes, and believed he was close to his goal when she heard nothing more from him. I said we would go to Denerim and try to pick up the trail. i.imgur.com/nE0sICL.jpgBut not before I rifled through the Arl's desk for any valuables. I only found a cheap necklace, he must have the best stuff stashed away. Alister: that necklace, where did you find it? Me: I bought it for 10 gold, but you can have it for 8 if you really want it. Alister: this is my mother's amulet, but why isn't it broken? Me: I paid 2 gold to have it fixed, but I'll throw that in for the 8, if you want it. Alister: I'll have to talk to the Arl about this if he when he recovers. Me: Alright 7 gold, but your taking money I was going to send home to the alienage to feed hungry Elves. i.imgur.com/PO7hhxz.jpg

I tried to pick his pockets while he was staring at the necklace, he didn't have any money on him, so I told him where I found it and gave it to him. What can I say, I'm just a softy.

You guys make me laugh, being mean to Alistair in funny ways. Oh YEAH. Probably everybody knows about this already but I wanted to share anyway. So I got this "special reward" Center of the Tempest staff. and it did like 55 damage but it casts 3. electric glyphs at the end of the Mage Exercise Routine. And even though I got staffs just naturally in game that did more damage, technically, none of them do the glyph thingie. So Iw as like, whatever mate, I'm keeping it because it's like a wall of protective paralysis magic for my mage, Ghi'ral. And then I was like, maybe if I add a stabbie thing or a grip thing it'll improve it even more, since I'm rather attached ot keeping it. So, I did that, which did make it better, but didn't increase it's damage any. But then I finally got some rune drops. And I could place a rune in it and now it does 105! damage, making it better than all the other staves I got in my pile. And I'm so darn happy I get better damage with my unique glyph slinging staff that it's silly.

forgetmenotIs it bad that I named a couple animals that name? My Ghi'ral named his red Hart Revas. And I named the dog from Origins Revas too. :/ But she's pretty! Not bad at all! Its a great name I love giving my characters names which mean something in game like my dwarf Warden is called Isana Brosca. Isana means "singing stone" in dwarven language or "Lyrium". I headcanon that her father was a Lyrium smuggler and Alistair's first attempt at flirting with her he says her name is pretty and she's like "yeah, my dad named me after Lyrium because he was a smuggler. But thanks, anyway". And then there's my Amelie Hawke. As Leandra and Malcolm's first born, I like to think Leandra wanted her family name "Amell" to live on somehow through her daughter. I think about these things way too much but never mind haha

And then there's my Amelie Hawke. As Leandra and Malcolm's first born, I like to think Leandra wanted her family name "Amell" to live on somehow through her daughter. I like that, much better than mine. My first Hawke was called Marian, because for some reason the CC couldn't detect input from my keyboard. But it did recognize the backspace key, so my 2nd one was Maria Hawke & the the 3rd one Mari Hawke. Then years later after a reinstall the keyboard worked and an early one was Kitty Hawke, but she was a bit slow and never reached the heights of Savanna Hawke. Then I made a warrior, she was quite a big gal like Avelene, so I called her Abigail. And her Mabari was Kitty Hawke. (I know right) But when Abigail was little she wanted a kitten. But what with paying off guards and staying one step ahead of the templars, the Hawkes never had much money for such things. Then one day a stray mabari followed Malcolm home, he gave the dog to Abigail and told her it was a kitten. She was a dumb kid and didn't know any better. She would hold up little bits of wool, and the mabari was smart enough to know the score and play along. Only at school the other kids would tease her and say "Your kitten's a dog" (Kids can be so cruel) But Abigail was big for her age and could beat them into taking it back, so it wasn't till years later she found out the truth. Of course by then it was too late to change the name.
