Your mabari story is much happier than my head-canon one.
Bruenor finally beat the harlequin at its own game. He also gave a skeleton back its top hat. Oh, and killed some qunari who are for some reason trying to infiltrate the Winter Palace and cause general mayhem. Maaaaayyyyheeeemmmmmm (I missed that convo between Bull and Harding this time ). I left off with just starting the Deep Roads. That place is confusing enough as it is....don't need to be wandering around down there when I'm tired.
First mission group was Varric, Dorian, and Blackrain; this time I brought Iron Bull instead of the latter. Next trip I'll probably bring Cass just so I can see her pretty new armor.

Finished Winter Palace. This time I brought Viviene and Dorian; I tend to bring Varric. I recruited Viviene this time as I have in mind who the Divine is going to be; it's going to be Cass. Hence, I rescued the Templars. Didn't bother with Sera. Alaryn attended in her medium Inquisition scout armor. The rest of the party were in their "finery". The armor is pretty unique; in its colours, red / silver / black. The shoulder pauldrons is red, the other scouts all have pale pea green pauldrons. I also like how the boob-bastic is non-existent. Yes, that is one feature that gets in my hair; the extraordinary plastic surgery. I chose to bring Celine and Briala together. Finally got around to judgements with the main hall completely refurbished. * This latest track from TSFH, title Enchantress, is a fav. I thought of all the characters I've read in books / games and came up with a few names that fit this music; Kethry of the Tale'sedrin and Moiraine Damodred of the Aes Sedai. Since I'm playing DAI at the moment, I think of Flemeth / Mythal. Of her power and influence in ages past. Her rise and fall. The battles she would have fought in the realm of a forgotten Thedas. I see dragons that rule the skies, the great Titans of the earth, the floating cities, the elven slaves that bowed to their gods, the barbarians on the ground.

phoray Somehow during the whole flirting stages I felt mostly bad because it made her so visibly uncomfortable. And what really turned me off was the point where she asks to be courted properly (which I really liked) and you go pick up three things and she basically throws herself at you. It felt like a male fantasy to me and I couldn't relate to that. Proper courtship in my eyes does not mean to read her a poem once to finally make her spread her legs. I was very disappointed at that point and haven't played the character since. It's fine by me if anyone likes the romance, so no need to feel offended if you do, but it just put me off. Earlier (as in: last night when I made the other post) I forgot to mention Josephine, but that's because I don't feel attracted to her at all so I didn't even consider playing her romance. Watched it on YouTube. Also about the Bull romance, I've heard different things, some liked it a lot, others didn't like it at all. I have never gotten far with him because it progresses really slow and I stopped playing the character before anything happened. Like anything at all, he never even really reacted to any flirts. Instead of playing I will have to talk to my professor via conference call today and he obviously doesn't even remember what we discussed during earlier meeting which really pisses me off. Next three days are off, though, looking forward to that small break! To each his/her own regarding romances. Almost all of them culminate suddenly (and thus, perhaps, unrealistically). I liked the Cassandra romance for showing her softer side (as did the "Swords and Shields" story). Regarding the Josephine romance, I thought it was okay for a G-rated romance. (The "deadly dwarf" did this one.) As to not being attracted to her, the "Ruffles" outfit isn't exactly flattering. In terms of being gradual and having emotional "umph," I'd have to say the "Solasmance" leads the way.

From the Diary of Kara Trevelyan: Visited 'Lady's Rest'. And found...the sad instance of a spirit who thought she was the lost lover of Inquisitor Ameridan. Who died there. We also found her bones. It was one of the truly...most tragic...instances I have ever seen in my time as Inquisitor. The poor spirit, the poor woman. It makes me think what might happen with Cullen. If something were to happen to me. Other than sealing Fade Rifts this is pretty much all I did which is...actually kind of weird. Though Bull now no longer has anything which is related to Beserk. Gave him a potential posion weapon instead. And so far it seems to be working. The funny part though is a little while on I got Fade Touched 'this weapon now can explode people on kill' ability on the next rift and it was all like 'gee where were you when I needed you five minutes ago'.

You guys make me laugh, being mean to Alistair in funny ways. Oh YEAH. Probably everybody knows about this already but I wanted to share anyway. So I got this "special reward" Center of the Tempest staff. and it did like 55 damage but it casts 3. electric glyphs at the end of the Mage Exercise Routine. And even though I got staffs just naturally in game that did more damage, technically, none of them do the glyph thingie. So Iw as like, whatever mate, I'm keeping it because it's like a wall of protective paralysis magic for my mage, Ghi'ral. And then I was like, maybe if I add a stabbie thing or a grip thing it'll improve it even more, since I'm rather attached ot keeping it. So, I did that, which did make it better, but didn't increase it's damage any. But then I finally got some rune drops. And I could place a rune in it and now it does 105! damage, making it better than all the other staves I got in my pile. And I'm so darn happy I get better damage with my unique glyph slinging staff that it's silly. I know it's cheating, but I added a mod that changed the sigils to endow armor with abilities like that. Otherwise, I would never use them. I can't remember which sigil has the electric glyphs.

I really liked that staff when I was playing as a mage. This time I got the Bow of Artifice (I think it was a special shipment thingie) and I've used it pretty much all game long. Since Bruenor is an Artificer, I get double Elemental Mine chaos and So.Many.Explosions. It's super fun.

Finished Trespasser! Bruenor told Solas he'd stop him, then angry-disbanded the Inquisition. Leliana had the right of it - better to work in the shadows without a bunch of diplomats and politicians obstructing them every step of the way.
Bruenor's final game stats:
Char Lvl 27 (+106K xp). His end game party of Dorian, Bull, and Cassandra also reached lvl 27. Inq. lvl 23 (mod allows additional lvls to be gained) Power 312 Gold (after raiding Fenny's vault): 489444 Divine: Cassandra Romance: Harding Time: 163:12 at the save before going through the final eluvian
Up next: moving my saves and getting my screenshots uploaded. Ugh.
Then, I've got a book to finish and a couple new games to play (well, try out at least) before I head back to Mass Effect for a new trilogy run before MEA hits.
Merry Christmas!

I've cheerfully stormed the Redcliffe Castle to find out that I need to take a detour to the Mage's Tower, unless I want to take one of them awesome DS shortcuts. I sighed and went to the Tower. The Tower was in the exact same situation that the Castle. So, I cleaned out the Tower only to find myself in a puzzle labyrinth, which is the sort of thing that wins the games the Creative Writing Awards, but makes me wanna pound my head into my keyboard. So, I will be in exact same place tomorrow, trying to follow a walkthrough and keep myself from throwing my hands up in frustration over four different forms, five guardians, multiple islands and a gazillion types of the portals. I suppose, BioWARE listened to many years of criticism over the long tunnels filled with fodder. It is creative, yeah, just too much of it in one place for my liking I was sort of hoping to finish the game over the holidays, but I doubt I will... Happy Holidays!

Was re reading parts of the Masked Empire. I have more information and more understanding now since I had last read it.
I know it's a fictional world, I'll say that up front. The books are always more serious than the game. In the game you are the hero as everything goes the way you want it to. In the books, mostly everyone loses.
I'm sad that Falessan died. I'm sad for a Solas who made that choice. I'm disappointed that we didn't get to see Briala and Solas finally have a chat.
I'm upset for the treatment of the city elves in Orlais, which are already treated better than other countries city elves.
I'm upset at the Dalish for not trying to adapt to a new world. And not treating Briala as the next elven hero. At the same time, I respect that they want to be their own culture.
I'm upset for the world that was lost. We hardly know the world before the Veil, but elves from that time desperately work to get it back so that must have been something. I put myself in the eyes of Solas. A world of Tranquil, barbarians, a mess. There is beauty in the struggle, but the elves seem to have way more against them than the usual minority, one being they are dying out.
If it's a losing battle, then is it right to stop him? Or is this more about evolution; in a Veil less Thedas, elves are NOT the fittest. Nor the dwarves apparently.
All philosophy, of course. One thing to sacrifice to yourself, but what of loved ones...
In Origins we fought to save Thedas from the Blight only to find out two games later that Thedas is unnatural and should essentially be destroyed. Such a weird direction.
And although fiction, I'm a bit depressed. I'm no reality history buff, but I'm guessing a lot of the stuff in Dragon Age has a parallel to real life. And whoever they are, I'm sad for them too.

I made a lot of cookies yesterday. I baked for over 5 hours straight. Don't worry, I'm going somewhere with this. I wanted to share with you my peanut butter cookie recipe. I called it "Sera's Cookies" while I was baking them. All you need is:
One egg One cup of peanut butter One cup of white sugar
Mix until completely combined. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Then take a fork, flatten the cookies with it using a cross-thatch pattern. I stress that it needs to be ungreased because the oil in the peanut butter will be enough. If you grease the pan, all the oil will separate and turn the cookies into a giant hot mess.
Throw into the oven at 350 for about 12 minutes. For high altitude, switch to convention oven at 355. Set for 6 minutes, rotate, then set for another six minutes. When they are done, transfer onto a cool cookie sheet. It makes about 10-12 per batch,
The reason why I've nicknamed my peanut butter cookies after Sera is because they are very simple. Nothing fancy and most people can eat them. They also taste very good too. Baking always put me into a great mood and I thought about the roof chat with Sera. If I was going to bake her cookies, that's what I would do.
Merry Christmas everyone! I'm taking my 3 dozen cookies (two peanut butter, one batch of chocolate chip) and heading to my folks in a few hours. I'm going to help them get the gifts set up for my niece.

Decided to put off questing at Western Approach and complete a few maps. I went to Hissing Wastes. Most notable event; running over a deer with the horse. I wasn't expecting that. It's impossible to stomp anything dead with the horse, given its galloping speed. The deer gave a terrific squeal and went down. I looked back but I didn't see any sign of it. Didn't bother going back to check as I was going to the tomb to finish up. After playing so many times, I wasn't expecting any surprises in this game but it still manages a few here and there.

My husband misses playing board games with me, something we did weekly before I found DA. So, he bought the Dragon Age RPG Tabletop thing as a surprise for me? I accused him of trying to trick me away from the video game. Has anyone ever played it?

One egg One cup of peanut butter One cup of white sugar
I use that same recipe, except instead of mashing them with a fork, I use either a chocolate star or Hershey kiss. Because there's really nothing better than peanut butter and chocolate together. I also double the recipe.

The peanut butter cookies tend to puff up way too much at this altitude, so that's why they get smashed. My mixer and my oven aren't very big, so I start with the smaller batch at a time. Next year I might play with the recipe some. I'll never use raisin in any of my cookies. I despise raisin cookies almost as much as Sera does. My chocolate chip cookies are the big and puffy kind. I made a couple of them sandwich cookies. I took some chocolate canned frosting, then I zested two little mandarin oranges. Oh my goodness. If you like orange chocolate, it's awesome. It also cuts through a lot of that overwhelming sweetness.

The journey of Warden Commander Drako Amell, The Hero of Ferelden: (DA:O, DA:A, and Witch hunt) The Chronicles of Tyros Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall: The Path of Inquisitor Mason Trevelyan, Herald of Andraste: The Journey continues, I didn't get my week of sleep. Only took Cullen's men a few days to get the towers in the Hinterlands built. Cassandra had to drag me out of bed... literally, she kicked my cot over... and insisted that we be the ones to collect Master Dennet and his horses. Why a simple messenger couldn't do it is beyond me. So I reluctantly get my gear together and we set out as soon as Varric was done grooming his chest hair or whatever he does all day. When we reach the Hinterlands, we stop by the Cross Roads to check in with our people to see if everything is alright... Everything was not alright. People have gone missing along the eastern pass. Not bandits or bears. Just scorch marks and destroyed caravans. We stock up on supplies and head out there to investigate... ...We find a good spot to set up a camp site and begin our investigation. I was hoping it was just a mad Mage hurling fireballs, but the distant roar I had heard before was not so distant anymore. The air smells foul... like a blacksmiths forge. As we search, we discover a hidden valley. Seems to have been used as a Quarry for Obsidian. Not anymore. The structures are either broken or burning. A dragonling comes directly at us when we set foot into the valley. Where there is one Dragonling, there are more. With it's death howl, I assumed it summonoed more of it's brood, but what I feared most showed itself. A giant High Dragon. And mother was not pleased by the death of her child. Few things in this world can match the heat of Dragon's fire. After a few volleys, the High Dragon flew off deeper into the valley and dozens of dragonlings flooded the area. They weren't going to stay here. They had to be dealt with. I have no idea how you kill a High Dragon or if we even can, but at the very least we must drive them out of the area... ...We find the remains of several of the missing caravans scattered around as we work our way through to the nest. The High Dragon is waiting. I can't be sure, but I distinctly sense a mind behind those eyes. A simple beast she was not. As we step forward, I am almost certain we are all about to die. Several times, we very nearly did. We survived with a number of burns, a few claw marks, and most of our bodies bruised, but we survived. The High Dragon is dead and if any of it's dragonlings still live, they have gone underground. The danger is passed for now. After we get patched up from the healer at the camp we set up near by, we head off to Dennet's farms and together herd his horses to Haven... ...The Inquisition is growing quickly. Haven wasn't built for this. Soon, we'll need to either find a new place to serve as our base of operations or start some heavy construction on this town and turn it into a proper fortress. Our funds are tight, so building is not really an option right now. We are heading to Val Royeaux soon to address the Chantry and its... concerns. With any luck our efforts in the Hinterlands will have reached the city by then and we will have something to fight the fear mongers with. Otherwise this will go very bad very fast... (With that I will bid all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
Since arriving at Skyhold a couple days ago, Katriel and her companions rescued captured Inquisition soldiers in the Fallow Mire. At the request of her budding LI, Solas, she went to save one of Solas' spirit friends in the Exalted Plain. While there, she came to the aid of a sister Dalish clan and then to the aid of the warring factions of the Orlesian Civil War which were being besieged by undead. In dealing with this problem, she discovered another potential enemy: the Freemen of the Dales. To complete the pacification of the Exalted Plain, they also took down an Electric Dragon.
Back at Skyhold, Varric reveals he knows where Hawke has been all along and that Hawke has a contact in the Grey Wardens who can explain their strange disappearance. They make arrangements to meet this GW at Crestwood, in Ferelden. To be continued....

I really don't like the approval system. Earlier, Blackwall asked my Quizz how she feels she fits into the inquisition. She told him that people worship hr and believe that she is destined for greatness, a statement that she happily agrees with. The conversation right after that, there was the option of asking "You don't like me much do you." Which he replied with that he doesn't. Now a little later on he suddenly changed his tune and said he admired her. Not that it matters much since he's going to hate her later, as recruiting the mages will be the only major decision he approves of. Muteral dislike, but for Revas's side it will be disinterest. As she just doesn't find him interesting, and will probably stop talking to him after she exiles the wardens. Outside of the stupid approval system, he probably wouldn't like her much due to her be a smart ass with an ego who plays the game. She doesn't see the value in carrying guilt around and isn't going pretend that the Warden Commander wasn't blinded by her own arrogance so he is not happy with her. As for her, she doesn't like those holier then thou people, which from what I've heard is the attitude that Blackwall gives you if you have low approval with him. She also doesn't find him that interesting so she wouldn't bother with him much, especially not when you have so many other interesting people in the organization. Additionally, before she went to meet Hawke in Crestwood she found Leliana's note on him where the real commander Blackwall said that Ferelden was a lost cause, which was very different from his claim that he was in Ferelden at the time. Every warden disappears but him, and he is some how immune to the calling. She had figured out that he was lying and must be running away from something, but she doesn't feel the need to rat him out. Once his reveal comes to light, she might force him into servitude to the Inquisition. "Don't like that Blackwall, tough. You can take that attitude and jam it up your ass. You are not one of our soldiers, you are far from being worthy of that consideration. You are just a tool now. You'er not even worthy of that. Don't even begin to compare me to scum like you. I figured out that you were lying this whole time. Leliana had letters from the real Blackwall and in one of them he said that Ferelden was a lost cause and that he and the wardens should stay in the Free Marches. A completely different story from the one you spun. I didn't rat you out to the others because I figured you were running from something, someone. That maybe you were a murder, but you wanted to do good so in spite of my dislike for you, I said nothing. But oh no, you did far worse then just murder people. YOU TRICKED YOUR MEN AND LEFT THEM TO DIE, YOU SCUM FUCK CRAVEN! I'm certainly far from saint. Like you I've killed for money and for less then that. But I've never, nor will I ever betray my men. That is a line I will never cross and anyone who crosses it deserves the void. The dread wolf wouldn't even want your pathetic hide."

I've finally finished the endless Magic Tower and its even more infinite fade attic. Then I had to go back into the Fade again to get the Redcliffe brat out of trouble. Then I got ambushed by Zevran. Which took a lot of my potions to get through, because somehow my mage, Leliana and Wynne got dead in one of the huge AoE spells and only Alistair survived to beat down Zevran and his fellows.
So, seriously, with the amount of traps in the game, and zero expertise in the party on either making or disarming the tarps, that sucks. I am not sure how rogues are played in this game, but I suspect that like in the DnD game, you have to go with a turtle's pace, with a rogue up-front in stealth to scout the traps out. I will see if Zevran any good at it, seeing Leliana is a ranged rogue.
Still did not really figure out what the poison is for, the whole coating thing is lost on me, as well as enchanting weapons - like why do I even bother if the weapons are going change as I collect more powerful stuff? Eh, well.
Going to try to clear Chantry's side-quests and then go visit the Elves, 'cause specialization.

Eh, well. Going to try to clear Chantry's side-quests and then go visit the Elves, 'cause specialization. Being a mage, I took arcane warrier spec to start wearing real armor, although the end game robe I switched back to. Even with real armor, you mostly need to stay out of the way after the first round. I'd run forward adn just as I'd be surrounded, cast cone of cold. My companions would have been just behind me, so they start whacking on the frozen bodies while I run out of the way. After that first step, Iw ould control Zevran to run around and undo the traps. Then go back to controlling myself. At that point, since there is no friendly fire, I would get somewhere I couldn't be interupted and cast Lightning storm on the battle ahead/below. I had one healing spell I'd occasionally use, but mostly, I went out of my way to have like 300+ potions. The weak kind, not even the next tier. And I put in the AI that the companions were to use them at 50% health. And that was my strategy on Normal mode. No Wynne, Zev was my rogue, Alistair my Warrior, and the third slot would be whoever I felt like.

Just some shots from my play through if Ghi'ral. I'm thinking of moving away from Photobucket. Even on a fast computer with full bars of internet, it takes like ten minutes to get pictures up. The loading screen times are just ridiculous. Unless there is some setting I'm ignorant of to fix that... Does imgur go faster? Arriving at Adamant after bursting through the gates is one of those obligatory shot moments. I remember my first fem mage running through it in like, a Qunari Bikini. I still don't know why I don't have the recipe for that, I haven't seen it since. Anyway. Catching that orb like the Inquisitive golden retreiver I am. The game priming you for the either or choice before you even get there. Positional foreshadowing? Going after the Seekers and Cass is looking lovely in that armor coloring. And then Cass and Ghi'ral finally put the silliness of ignored flirting aside and go for it. I think the hottest bits of the whole thing are the moments right before the kissing, like here. I was curious to see how they made my elf look like nude. I think they got the color of the skin shades right, but I just don't know how these guys get this buff. my husband bikes 10 hours a week, and lifts boxes at work for 20 hours a week. He's a slender 5'7 guy with no obvious pecs, and so I just feel like the body shape isn't right for a mage here, especially an elf. NSFWMod Edit: There is no nudity or toplessness allowed, even if it's DA or ME footage from the romances. ProBoards doesn't care about context, only about their anti-nudity policy.
I'm going to speed run the rest of Ghi'ral. HE's not angsty enough to keep my interest. HE's just a romantic dork trying to do his best, and that bores me. I just want to see all of Cass's romance scenes with my Ghi'ral. Speaking of, Cass has the best repeatable kiss scene I've seen of the total 4 romances I've tried.

Eh, well. Going to try to clear Chantry's side-quests and then go visit the Elves, 'cause specialization. Congratulations on making it out of the Fade! For the traps, they use the same skill to disarm them as they use to unlock locks. So if you want some safeguard for traps, max out Deft hands for Leliana and give her loads of Cunning. Zevran starts with abysmally low score on deft hands (so his swan song about being able to open locks is a blatant lie and he should be punished) but he can be built up to be a useful lock picker and disarmer of traps. Maxing out deft hands should also increase the spotting radius, so Leliana can still poke things with arrows. The trap making skill is a bit less useful, it just makes it so the characters can make them and set them, but you still need rogues to disarm them. It doesn't give any bonuses to disarming or spotting traps. So a lot of work for low rewards. Unless you've been using traps already and are good with them, then you can probably skip the trap making skill all together. edit: As for how rogues should behave. Maxing out stealth and deft hands and sending them on a stroll isn't such a bad idea. While I would not suggest running, they can walk at a decent pace without risking loosing their legs to a bear trap. As for a bit of meta trap spotting, the game makers liked to put them between pillars and in the middle of passage ways. So you feel like you could squeeze past them if you are super careful, but you can't. Generally if it looks like you can run through a passage way in a ruin to beat someone up, it's probably trapped. If there are archers on the other side of the room, it's probably trapped as well. Another tip, you don't need to finish the disarming animation, at least not on pc. Once the rogue kneels down you can click the next trap and skip the animation, then bask in glory as the xp starts to pile up. Poison coating adds a type of damage to your weapon for a short while. I find Deathroot poison a lovely treat for Zevrans blades, since it stuns your enemies and with the right skills, stunned enemies are a guaranteed critical hit for rogues. The other poisons are nice too, putting a bit more bite in your attacks. Giving your warriors one dot in the skill gives them the ability to use poison, so they can also get some extra damage and the ability to stun hard hitting foes. As for enchanting weapons: DO IT. You can remove the runes if you don't like them and transfer the ones you like between weapons whenever Sandal is within arms reach. Okay...I mean, it's your choice, but it's nice to get some extra damage to your attacks, right? And everyone digs a little spell resistance, don't you think? Really it's just a nice little damage boost and visual effect and if you don't like it you can take the runes off the weapons and sell them for some gold.

That's why i like more the books (well at least the Masked Empire)
