Told my husband I was going to play an elf, looked as though he would have a heart attack. Tried to play her but just could not do it. Thus back at the CC making my main character again for the umpteenth time.
Now I just have to grin and bare this annoying tutorial. Must. Get. To. Haven. Need some Culley Wully. Which game? Origins or Inquisition? In Inquisition, I played a Dalish elf, once, but it felt wrong; she looked too much like a 14 yo girl! No real aesthetic problems with Origins elves. In DA2, it appears, someone was too heavily influenced by "Avatar."

Unless one is Keeping Alistair a Warden and a dead loghain...that answer is to always harden him. I told my husband to harden Alistair and he didn't even know what he was going to do yet. IS he ruling alone? Daveth! Also, Duncan killed a Warden is how he joined the Wardens. So, yeah, murderers, cut purses... all is welcome. I had tried to harden Alistair, but just didn't do enough follow-up conversations after the "everybody is out for himself" speech. Much as I find Origins almost infinitely replayable, I do tend to shortchange talking to companions the more I play. He rules with Anora. And not only Daveth, but Duncan himself demonstrates the flexibility GWs have towards whom they recruit. It's a pity that's another thing Duncan didn't talk to Alistair about, but then again, Alistair was still a relatively new recruit. The way that Alistair talks about Duncan and the other grey wardens, I feel like he had to have known them 6 months to a year. With sightings of Darkspawn probably occurring all along, it was completely absurd all the things Duncan, and a whole room of party drinking Wardens, didn't share.

(Dies laughing). It's not my fault the Game Devs decided to call it that. Although one wonders what else they could have called it...firming, stiffening, roughening... The answer is to always "encourage a stiff upper lip."

Even "stiff upper lip" can have naughty connotations! And "roughen" or "stiffen"? And I can only imagine the meeting the developers had to come up with just the right word!

I can imagine the whole story from "The Calling" -- a GW fiasco if ever there was one -- might've been something he would've avoided telling a new recruit. It would tarnish the GW's reputation for competence.

I cleared the Apostates out of the Witchwood and discovered there are some rogue Templars holed up on the West Road. Started making inroads there. Also Redcliffe has closed its gates because of reasons. Probably nothing to worry about.

Yeah, I tend to be a bit trigger-happy with the pause button when I'm below or at the same level as the enemies when playing on nightmare. It can result in some...amusing shots. Not much of a screen-archer, myself, but moments like that always give me a brief chuckle.

After the Landsmeet, Neria had her first chance to work with Loghain in a mission to retrieve the Tears of Andraste and restore it to the Chantry, based on a tip from Slim Coudry. The mission went well and Loghain demonstrated that his skills as an individual soldier had not diminished during his years of command.
Neria also took Loghain, Wynne, and Zevran to the old Warden fortress, Soldiers' Peak. After defeating numerous demons and undead and seeing numerous visions of the desperate battle that occurred at Soldiers Peak so many years earlier, Neria encountered the demon-possessed former commander of the Wardens at Soldiers' Peak, Sophia Dryden, who was locked in an almost eternal conflict with Avernus, a Grey Warden mage who served under the real Sophia. According to the visions, Avernus was a blood mage who abandoned his fellow Wardens after the demons he summoned refused to obey his commands and, instead, killed both wardens and their opponents. Demon Sophia offered to close the Veil which was thin at the Peak in exchange for the Warden's team killing Avernus, who had Demon Sophia trapped within the Castle. After persuading the Demon to sweeten the deal by divulging the location of some gold hidden within the castle, Neria went to Avernus' lab. Before entering, they found his journal detailing horrific experiments Avernus had performed on his fellow Wardens. This removed any qualms Neria might have had about killing him. After the deed was done, they returned to Demon Sophia, who closed the Veil as promised. Neria then killed Demon Sophia. She had promised the demon only that she would kill Avernus, who had Demon Sophia trapped. Neria hadn't promised to let Demon Sophia go free. Zevran was impressed with Neria's cunning. Loghain felt reclaiming Soldiers' Peak was a useful defensive position. In addition, Levy Dryden, a descendant of Warden Sophia who inspired the mission agreed to utilize the Peak as a trading post as well.
Now to prepare for the final battle...

Ah, Wardens Keep - all at once my most loved and hated of Origins story DLCs.
Didn't like much of the gameplay at all, or the story for that matter - but the precious....the Warden Commander set, is, in my view the best looking armour in any of the 3 games. Every Origins playthrough - except my one mage - has needed enough strength to equip the Dragonbone version of the armour. Because roleplaying.

The sad thing about the Grey Warden armor mod for Origins is that they try to replace it with what Wardens wear in DA2, but instead, Sophia ends up with invisible armor. And after you kill Demon Sophia, the armor set remains invisible. Oh well... My mage PC is using the Reaper outfit, but I plan on keeping the Sophia armor set in the backpack in case I change my mind in Awakening or want to put it on another character.

Does the DLC armour transfer to Awakening? I thought it didn't. I do remember my first Awakening PT starting with a naked Cousland.... Or do you use mods to bring them across?

Never had that issue with Sophia. Only troubles I had were: Duncan's Warden Armor defaults to his original during a cut scene at Ostagar and the stats do not improve , thus you have to use the forge in order to do so. Other then that MOD runs just fine.

Well the day started out like any other. I woke up half naked with a beautiful young girl leaning over me. Then she said I should talk to her mother, who turned out to be the crazy witch we met in the wilds, before the battle. The witch said Alister and I were the only surviving Grey Wardens & it was up to us to end the blight. But on the up side, she did say we should take her daughter with us. She didn't have to ask me twice, but Alister wasn't so keen on the idea. (I don't think he's into women) We took Morrigan's suggestion & headed to Lothering, a small town just north of the wilds. We went into the Tavern and that's where I met "This Girl" She helped us out when the fighting started, and against the advice of the others, I let her come with us. When we made camp, we hit it off very well, and talked for hours. Well she talked and I listened mostly, although she was a bit reluctant to talk about herself. A shem showed up at our camp and wanted us to take him to a long forgotten Grey Warden fort, to clear his family name. I thought there might be some Grey Wardens there, so we went along. There was only one Grey Warden there alive, and he wasn't looking the best, but he had made a potion that should make me better at fighting Darkspawn, and Alister got a nice set of Warden Commander Armour. We headed off in search of the Dalish, on the way we were attacked by some assassins sent by Leliana's ex girlfriend. When we did find the Dalish, their clan had been decimated by werewolves, and so we set off in search of Witherfang's heart, to cure the hunters. In the forest I picked some flowers for Leliana, she loved them, but Alister didn't look too happy, maybe he had plans for her himself. While searching for the werewolves lair, we came across a spirit trapped in a gem, in releasing it, it taught me the ways of an Arcane Warrior. (Probably nothing I can't do with a bit of blood magic, but who knows.) Leliana used her Bard training to sneak ahead and disable the traps. I was all for killing the werewolves and getting the heart back to Zathrian, that is until I met Witherfang. Anyway, with the Dalish problem sorted, next stop is Denerim and deal with Marjolaine before Leliana decides she wants to get back with her.

And where did you get the armor she's wearing in the Brecillian Forrest? As to your PC, are you using the Dalish mage mod? Or is she an Elven Circle mage who has romantic notions of the Dalish? I'm currently at the tail end of an Elven Circle Mage PT. I just have to do the final battle. I initially tried to model her after the concept art elven mage, but couldn't get the hair right, so I made her a blonde. She did wear the concept robe for most of the game until I decided to make her more of a dedicated arcane warrior. I have Leliana modded to look like the Sacred Ashes trailer. (One day, I'll figure out how to post pics.)

My test inquisitor person met her first dragon Which... flew off. So she killed a giant instead and then killed a leader of a gang and then took them over Meanwhile Hawke... she had an argument with Anders, gave Merrill a gift and got murdered by a big dragon (had to reload so technically that never happened but still)

I listened to the Lana Del Rey song, Young and Beautiful, like 30 times in a row while I imagined what scenes I would use from DA2 to make a music video. And now I'm typing "How to make a music video" into google search. So, yeah, that music video won't show up too soon.

It's the only place I can think of that had both a dragon and giants! (Good place for crafting materials too!) So, now that you've had a taste of all three games, how do you rate them against each other?

Storm coast, isn't it???
The dragon and the giant are fighting just around from where you meet Iron Bull...the dragon always flies off once you get too close, but if you wait long enough, it can get the giant down to little - or in some cases, no - health. Then you swoop in a loot the giant.
Good times.

On topic, I was chatting with someone in another thread about lyrium ghost Leliana being Divine. In my Necromancer's run, ghost Leliana is a murder Divine So want to write a story about this... hehehe...

It's the only place I can think of that had both a dragon and giants! (Good place for crafting materials too!) So, now that you've had a taste of all three games, how do you rate them against each other? Hmmmmm... Honestly??? From best to worst: DA2, DAO, DAI Basically... I cant find anything wrong with DA2... it has likeable characters, a great protagonist, fun quests, great combat... and the Duel with the Arishok is like my favorite gaming moment ive had havent finished it yet but still thats my impression based on act 1, 2 and part of act 3 I also love the idea that its varric telling the story and the map is great also I love the locations also Hawkes voice is amazing In DAO I can find some problems... my data wont sync to the keep because every time I start the game it disconnects from the servers for no reason at all... it also has an unclear romance system rather than DA2 where it has little s next to the things you wanna do and that makes it muuuccchhhh better In DAI so far theres quite a few things id change... I love the graphics and the scenery and the fade rifts because theyre beautiful... but The hair sucks there isnt anything close to being long hair but there are like 10 different supershort hairstyles... it makes no sense Greatswords are like the size of the character and theyre totally out of proportion (never played a 2 handed warrior but the 2 handed warriors in previous games never seemed so out of proportion)... they look ridiculous really... id have personally gone for a "single weapon" option where you can just use one normal sword or a greatsword or something like that for people who dont want to look out of proportion Barriers and guards suck... and theres no heal whatsoever which also sucks... glad injuries have gone but it would be better if there was a heal power instead of barriers and guard personally... also theres no blood magic or shapeshifting or anything awesome for mages I prefer the staff animations in DA2... whenever I see like the attack with different particles hitting an enemy I really dont like it Scaling... sucks. If I met an enemy in DAO and DA2 (mostly excluding big bosses) id be able to kill it... in DAI though it just isnt the case like it takes about 3 minutes to take down one bear with the whole party trying to kill it... and also if I go to a rift in the first area id kinda like to be able to finish it instead of getting murderized by demons... The war table and the power system really doesnt work for me... I love the idea of being able to distribute agents and forces and things like that places to expand influence but some of the quests are super long even gold takes like 45 minutes and all I get is 75 gold out of it or something silly... dont like that and personally id prefer a few great side quests which give quite a bit of power (and more or less depending on the difficulty) over lots of meaningless ones... theres no reason to swamp people in side quests even when theyre just super small things that need doing... they should have added the ability to cancel quests entirely from your journal until you go back to the quest giver or send inquisition forces to do it for you... because if youre a leader of a massive army targeting demons why would you go out in the wild to retrieve a ring or something??? Get someone to do it for you id have done it so that you have a few sidequests and depending on the difficulty of the quest gave between 5 and 20 power... with maybe 30 power being able to buy a squad of diplomats, assassins or soldiers... and you could send them out and let them do the smaller quests for you as well as the war table stuff but without the huge wait times... then you could decide what you wanted the Inquisition to be whether it was like ruling by force, assassinating enemies or being diplomatic and the proportions which you used forces assassins and diplomacy would change how people see the Inquisition and what kind of reception you get... you know??? You could also call reinforcements like in the final battle of DAO where you have the dwarves and the elves and stuff like that you can call... something like that but with Inquisition forces and maybe every squad of assassins/soldiers you have could give you 5 people to call when youre in trouble I also really dont like the approximate area quests... its ok to swamp people in side quests but then you say they have to spend forever trying to find something also... nope doesnt work I also dont like the Inquisitor voices... one sounds super weak and like... when you say something which SHOULD be said kinda forcefully it just ends up sounding bland and neutral and awful... with Hawke you could hear the anger in her voice but you just cant with the Inquisitor... its like someone said "ok this is an angry line but say it as neutrally as you can"... it removes from the... I dont know... realism I guess to have an angry option but a character who doesnt say things in an angry way even when they raise their voice... id prefer a silent character also I really didnt like the alternative either so yup I dont like either voices especially Oh and mountains... its ok to put them in your way but less ok to make it so you cant walk up them half of the time ... think thats it so far I love most things about the game but those are the things I dont Storm coast, isn't it??? The dragon and the giant are fighting just around from where you meet Iron Bull...the dragon always flies off once you get too close, but if you wait long enough, it can get the giant down to little - or in some cases, no - health. Then you swoop in a loot the giant. Good times. Storm coast yup
