Here's my new dwarf for Inquisition. I couldn't think of an original name so I called him Bruenor, after Bruenor Battlehammer of Forgotten Realms. He's an archer rogue though, not a berserker/battlerager. All my imported characters for this game were archers so he had to continue the tradition.
Despite being a prisoner, Leliana and Cass didn't take all his weapons.
So far he's just managed to stabilize the breach and meet up with Cassandra in the Chantry.
Others along for the ride
Next up will be exploring Haven, getting to know people, and picking 9000 bushels of elfroot.

Tried to make a handsome male elf and failed miserably. They kept turning into dwarves D: . Then started thinking about the playthroughs that had already been started, especially Kerdik's, who's been waiting at the top of the Tower of Ishal for six months. Then I became sad, because he hadn't taken Mardy's offer and thus missed the chance to bring a dwarven baby into Thedas. So I loaded an earlier save and fixed that mistake. Also changed his choice regarding Trian, since fratricide is a crime that inflames the passions and Kerdik has a lot of that. And it made his feelings of regret and fear of facing death more reasonable. Getting him back to the tower was quite uneventful. Except that just before approaching the Wardens in the Deep Roads, he caught Duncan and one of the Wardens in a very animated conversation. Of course they stopped once I turned on Fraps. But it was an interesting sync of idle movements. Kerdik had the strangest feeling of deja vu. And a tiny picture of the chat. Kerdik cleared the Tower with much difficulty and eventually he and Alistair were overwhelmed. Instead of waking up in the embrace of the Stone under Trian's icy glare, he woke up in Flemmeths hut, to the smell of stew. Grateful that some mods were not installed he talked to Morrigan before Flemmeth sent them all on their heroes journey. On the way to Lothering they picked up Kallak, the dog of war. They killed some bandits, visited the Chantry and then hit the Tavern where Leliana managed to persuade her way into the party. Now Kerdik is enjoying a mug of ale until his journey calls on him once more.

Finished my work, now I was a little time for playing. The target area was Val Royeaux, Josephie's personal quest and Dorian's romance quest.

Bruenor wandered around Haven, crafted some new armor, sold a bunch of stuff to Seggritt, found a lyrium potion formula for Adan, located a logging stand for the quartermaster, picked several tons of elfroot, mined some iron, and did a bit of hunting. After swapping out weapons and armor for the crew and updating their skills, he feels ready to head to the Hinterlands in search of Mother Giselle. He's going to be so excited to meet Scout Harding.

So, I was thinking about why Lel's face gets like that in the Dark Future Quest, and I think I've decided that they intentionally infected her with the Blight in order to torture her. She looks a lot like how I envision the Warden, Genevievie, looked in The Calling.

olnorton Natural bodies mostly. It's not that he doesn't like the mod, but it's nicer to wake up in strangers company wearing some briefs. Especially since if he'd waken up about an hour later, Alistair and Flemmeth would also probably been inside, enjoying some tasty stew. And Kerdik is not quite confident enough to chat with three people in his birthday suit. phoray There is a codex entry in one of the rooms in Redcliffe castle, where they say they've been testing the effects of skin implants. Both putting healthy skin on corrupted people and corrupted skin on healthy people. So yup, Leli's been having her skin cut off, blood drained and blight injected regularly for a year. No wonder she's grumpy. dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Note:_Studies_on_the_Blight

Ugh, I think I need coffee.
--Knocked out the Exalted Plains. I love about 3/4ths of the zone. It's one of my favorites, right up there with the Storm Coast and the Western Approach. I managed to get everything done for the Dalish except the bear hides. I found that damned halla, even though she decided to bug out down by the river. A quick reload fixed it.
However, the other quarter I cannot stand. It's anything dealing with the ramparts.
"I hate waiting to die." "I hate just waiting around." "The demons are getting closer." Me: "I hate this looping dialogue. I've closed all the rifts you ass!"
I also killed the dragon at level 15. That wasn't easy, but as long as I lived in Tactical Cam mode, I was okay. Solas, Varric, stop trying to tank the dragon from the front. Flank it, ya bastards. Damned suicidal AI.
--Did about half of Crestwood. Opened the floodgates, closed the Rift, appeased the spirit of Command and went to confront the mayor. I saved and exited this morning in front of an Astarium.
I might have to do some more fan fiction. I've got two more little stories in my head, one of them with Rowan sitting in front of the fire in her cabin in Haven.

Have been gearing up my little band and I finally got my specialization sorted. Knight-enchanter, thanks for the book Vivienne! Can't wait to try it out next time I play I really like the war table missions with her old team, wish we could meet them ingame because they sound like a fun bunch. Can't really beleive that I just wrote that about a group of Qunari. Hope I will be able to keep them alive and well through the game. Don't tell me anything, I kept the elf clan alive last time, had no idea which were the correct choices just sort of winged it. Keeping my fingers crossed for them at least.

More fan fiction. It takes place in Haven, right before talking to the magister in Redcliffe. Approximately two months has passed since the Temple explosion.
Rowan sat in front of the fire. Her little cabin was surprisingly well built to withstand the cold. There no was draft and the room was warm and comfortable. She sipped her tea, a mix of mint, chamomile and lemongrass. The Keeper had provided Rowan with the herbs. The young elf was prone to terrible seasickness and the herbal tea helped. Now she simply found it soothing. The herbs were easy to find, since it liked the same growing conditions as "elfroot."
Her ears still rang with the clash of steel from the courtyard. For the first week, she couldn't bear to be seen in that area. Painful memories of leaving Starkhaven were flooding back. She went about sliently in the shaows at first, out of instinctual fear. She was gradually getting used to it, but it seemed like endless noise.
She sighed and stared into the fire. The day had been long, but the evening had felt longer. The young elven servant was incessantly trying to "see to her needs." Rowan insisted on preparing her own bath, yes the pot had enough water for the tub and no, she didn't need another blanket. When the girl was offering to help Rowan bathe, she dismissed the servant.
Rowan poured the hot water into the brass tub. It was a nice change to bathe indoors and with her own space. She took her time with it, rinsing out her short hair. She got out, covering herself with a towel. It was soft, absorbent and warm from the fire. Reaching into her pack, she pulled out an old tunic and halla breeches lined with rabbit fur. Perfect for sleeping in.
"By Mythal," Rowan thought as she dressed for bed. "You'd think I was some sort of pampered noble. If only the child realized that this is almost like a palace for me. Warm food, warm fire and a place to think."
"What am I doing here?" she wondered. "I hate fighting. I don't like magic and I don't care for humans. Now I have to deal with a human army, the devout that left the Chantry. I am up to my eyeballs in magic bullshit, as Varric might say. The humans are on edge and looking for a fight. How long is it before they come after me?"
"Plus, there is the Qunari." Her eyes glanced towards the window. "He seems nice enough, but I'm keeping an eye on him. At least he was honest about his profession. I'd better not see other members of the Qun around here."
Her thoughts interrupted by a knock on the door. "It's that elf girl again, I just bloody know it." With a sigh, she moved across the room. "It's late, nearly midnight. What in the name of the Maker does she want this time." She opened the door without looking up.
"Yes, I'm fine. I'll let you know if I need anything.."
"Is this a bad time?" The calm measured voice startled her.
"Oh, Solas. Please, come on in." She unconsciously ran her fingers through her hair, a sure sign of her nervousness.
Solas smiled, but didn't comment on it. He stepped into the cabin and sat down beside the fire. He moved with a catlike grace, fueled by purpose. Even a simple act of sitting down had it's own elegance to it. He smiled at her and gestured to come sit beside him.
Watching Solas made Rowan incredibly homesick. She had been surrounded by everyone but elves in the last two months. "I couldn't wait to leave," she thought. "Now I want to go home."
"Something wrong, Rowan?" Solas gave her a puzzled look.
"No, it's nothing." She walked over to him and sat down. She reached over near the hearth, were she had kept her tea warm. "Tea?"
"No thank you." He smiled. "I prefer water. Or wine." Rowan smiled.
"So, what brings you out here? I'm sure that I would have known if a dragon or a Fade rift was around." Rowan laughed. "Varric told me that Cassandra would let us know if the End of the World was coming."
"And he's probably right. The Seeker is a fiercely passionate woman, armed with her faith and her sword. All of those things are very admirable." He paused. "She will do anything to protect you and this army of the devout."
"She can also yell the loudest," Rowan said. "She'd probably let everyone know from here to Redcliffe."
Solas laughed, his eyes twinkling as he looked at her. "That is very true. Most generals do so. It tends to emphasize the point. Now, as for your question, how are you feeling?"
"No one's mistreated me or called me a "knife-ear" yet. That's a good start."
"That is good to hear." He smiled, then his face sobered. "Are you alright after everything that's happened?"
Rowan spoke without thinking, "Yes. I think so. Oh sod it, I don't know anymore. I'm tired. Scared. I hate the sound of the soliders practicing in the courtyard. I hate human politics and I despise their religions too. " She set down her tea cup and stared into the fire. "I hate war. I never wanted this. All I wanted was to have a quiet life with my clan."
Solas gently touched Rowan's arm, causing her to look up. "The clan that treated you like you were sort sort of pariah? I thought you wanted to leave, to start your own life."
"Yes, but..." She shrugged. "I just wanted to live somewhere calm and peaceful. If such a place can exist for someone like me. I'm neither Dalish nor do I identify with elves that stayed in the alienages. I wanted to find my own path." She laughed with a bitter sound. "So much for that idea."
"You have been called to a greater purpose. Sometimes fate has a way of guiding us. Sometimes, it'll force us to make terrible choices for the greater good of all."
It was his turn to stare into the fire. "That's what it means to lead the people, to lead an army." He looked up at her and gave her a small smile. "I can understand wanting to go home."
Rowan reached for her cup. "I know if I don't stay, there won't be a home to go back to. There won't be anything left at all." She drank the rest of her cup. She stared at the bottom like a soothsayer trying to read the future in the remaining dregs. "I'm going to Redcliffe Castle first thing in the morning. I'd like you to be there."
Solas smiled and gently stroked her hair. "You didn't even need to ask." He looked up. "It's late, da'len. The moon has already reached it's zenith." He stood up and offered his hand to Rowan. She took it, climbing onto her feet. "You need your rest."
Rowan nodded, then cracked a yawn. "Apparently chasing rogue templars, crazy mages and securing an entire area takes it out of you." She yawned again. "I'm more tired than I thought. May I walk you out?"
"How kind of you." He stopped at the doorway and turned to her. "I enjoyed talking with you Rowan. Especially when the hour is late and Haven is quiet. Perhaps we could do this again sometime?"
Rowan blushed and was thankful for the dim light. "I'd really like that. Perhaps tomorrow night, after dealing with the magister?" She stifled another yawn.
"That sounds like a plan." Solas took both of Rowan's hands lightly into his own. "Sleep well, Rowan. I'll see you in the morning." He made a small movement, then squeezed her hands. "Good night, da'len."
"Good night, Solas." He gave a last smile and walked into the night. Rowan shut the door, feeling a little lighter than she had before. She couldn't remember ever being this exhausted.
She turned to the fire, which had almost burned down to embers. It was perfectly comfortable despite the very cold night air. Crawling under the blankets, she burrowed herself and began to doze off. As she laid there her last thought was, "At least I'm not alone anymore." She promptly fell into a deep sleep.
Rowan's dreams were filled with images of running with a wolf through the forest. It was like she'd known this wolf her whole life. Oddly enough, it had Solas' eyes.

I had my husband rip the Dragon Age Fan Music Videos to a CD. So, I can drive down the road listening to Alistair talk about how much he loves the Warden, how much Fenris loves Hawke, and most of the conversations of Solavellan. The amount of happiness this gives me is significant. And I write fanfiction in my head while I listen.

Bruenor wandered the Hinterlands getting massacred by mages with unending barrier ( finally got Solas spec'ed with Dispel) and Templars hiding behind shields no normal person should be able to lift, nevermind actually fight with. He had to run away and hide a few times when everyone else was knocked out and he ran out of arrows. Spoke with Mother Giselle at the Crossroads. Wandered some more, then went to Val Royeaux to claim, once and for all, "I AM NOT THE HERALD OF ANDRASTE," only to once again be ignored. The Templars created a bigger stir by punching an old woman and marching out of town. Normally he'd say 'good riddance' but he kind of was hoping they'd help so he wouldn't have to deal with the mages. Stupid Templars. Recruited a few more people to help get things settled. Sera, an elf, seems slightly off kilter but beggars can't be choosers. The mage, Vivienne, should be able to bring some political clout to bear. Finally, Warden Blackwall, the only Warden who hasn't disappeared for parts unknown. Unfortunately, he doesn't know where the rest of his fellows might be hiding. Once back in Haven, he'll need to get everyone re-equipped and armored. Sera managed to lose her bow between VR and Haven, but Bruenor was finally able to scrounge her up a new one.

Also, upon getting back to camp Zevran suddenly approached Surana with an offer to give him a massage in his tent, whorehouse style. Naturally Surana said yes, and afterwards Zevran started talking about Morrigan. Apparently flirting with someone once or twice is enough to make everyone think you're in a relationship with them! So Surana went to Morrigan to break up with her and got -35 approval Oh and of course, killed some darkspawn as well.

I just imagine that two years of little to no fighting and lots of diplomacy have gotten the Inquisitor to adopt a more "civilized" look. Luckily Sera was already attached enough to agree to marriage.

Let's see, I've been away for about a week, so I'll summarize... The weekend before the election, I was called away from work and when I returned (Sunday evening), I lost the desire to finish DAA with my elf mage PC. After hearing hints of what goes on in Trespasser, I decided to start up a DAI run as a female Dalish elf mage, specifically to have her do a "Solas-mance." I figured this would be a way to really get into the Lore behind the game in a personal way. (Though I, too, was distracted by the election, I played on while the TV was on in the other room! ) Other noteworthy details: I played on nightmare with some of the .trials turned on! (Most importantly, the trial that "levels" adversaries to your level.) There's nothing like having your team of four have to take on three bears and random bandits at the same time! (At least that provided me with a decent supply of tier 2 leather...) I also had "friendly fire" set to "on." That makes it really annoying since one of your mage's default powers is "chain lightning": the power that kills the ones you love! I haven't downloaded any mods, surprisingly, given how I thoroughly customized DAO. Most DAI mods seem to focus on PC appearance, but they can't seem to truly solve the "hair situation." (Hair is too "shiny" and too short and...if you mod it to be long...too stiff. I also hate that BW/EA decided to go unisex on the hairstyles. Some, I thought, were wrong for men.) I did download some sliders from nexus mods to make my PC look better than my usual bland creations. My and her team largely completed the Hinterlands save for a couple of the harder rifts...and save for the dragon. I made several attempts to kill it prior to the battle of Haven. It was really rather sad given my elaborate preparations to kill the dragon: I crafted fire resistant armor and even farmed four fire resistant belts at the Oasis. But Nightmare plus trials proved too much! My PC largely completed the Fallow Mire to rescue the soldiers, but didn't light all the beacons. The battles against those "greater terror" dudes (Don't they look like "Jack Skellington" from "Nightmare before Christmas"?) proved too painful on Nightmare even in tactical camera mode. She also went to the Storm Coast to get revenge on the Blades of Hessarian. (Why do all the women in this group wear skirts with butch haircuts?) As a mage, my Lavellan chose to seek out the mages to close the Breach. (I'm not quite sure of the logic of using the Templars to do that...) After going through the DA version of "It's a Wonderful Life," she chooses to free the mages. Vivienne was not pleased which didn't bother my PC at all (although bringing Vivienne to meet with Fiona was wonderfully catty!). After sealing the Breach, my PC fought the battle of Haven with Cassandra, Varric, and Solas. They succeeded in rescuing Lysette, Segrit, Flissa, and Adam. Very sad to see Minaeve burn after I tried to save her. (I read the previous comments on this, but on Nightmare, it seems to be either Adam or Minaeve, not both.) Threnn at least died fighting... The last segment had to be fought on tactical camera given the tougher than usual enemies and really dopey AI. Since arriving at Skyhold, the Solas-mance has been advancing very well as I try to stay on Solas' good side. (For those who've done the Solas-mance, how much flirting with female characters can my PC get away with before Solas notices?) I do hate thinking that when the "Cory is dead" party, my PC will have nothing to fall back on. After meeting with Hawke, my PC goes to Crestwood and completes every but the dragon to get to meet with Hawke and Stroud. She then took the party to Exalted Plain to help Solas' "friend." I found choosing the "arcane" knowledge perk useful in this quest and just took "history knowledge" to help with the rest of exalted plain and the emerald graves. Hopefully, I'll have "nobility knowledge" by the time we get to Halamshiral.

Fired up DA2 again. Discovered i'd left Anthony Hawke (mage) nowhere near as far through as i thought. Still, more time left to hang out with my buddies and attempt to get on Isabela's good side for the first time ever. The problem is i'm not very good at playing people who aren't nosy do-gooders because i'm afraid of missing out on XP if i don't pick the sidequests up. Especially in DA2 where I know some of the bosses have wiped the floor with me in the past. Seems to be going ok, Isabela's had her wicked way with Ant and has changed into her romance gear. Apart from that, Ant is besties with Varric (go figure), but neutral or minor friends with everybody else. I want to be friends with Anders (coz I had such a great/horrible/tearinducing/heartbreakingly fun time romancing him with Marian Hawke) but i'm not sure if i can manage to talk him around before he does something ill considered. Merrill seems to be ignoring me entirely.
My first ManHawke and i'm liking Nicholas Boulton, but not quite as much as Jo Wyatt.

Bruenor is still exploring the Hinterlands (hey, they're big ) but did finally unlock Storm Coast and Fallow Mire. He's looking forward to seeing Scout Harding again. All the camps are set up in the Hinterlands, which means Bruenor made his first foray into Hafter's Woods. I'm sure I don't really need to mention how extremely fun that was, do I?. He didn't quite make it to the merc fortress but didn't really try either. The fortress area, the 2 rifts, the river rift, the dragon area, and Valammar are all that's left to do. Plus whatever companion quests pop up later.
After meeting with Fiona, her new "boss" Alexius, and another Tevinter mage named Dorian, Bruenor is now 100% sure he is in way over his head. He knows nothing about magic except that it makes his hair frizzy (which is why he keeps it short and his beard braided). The real experts on this stuff are the Templars but they have decided to run away and hide. Fat lot of good they are.
In the meantime, the Wardens are also missing, so it might be a good idea to head to the Storm Coast and see if he can pick up their trail. Not that they are experts at magic either, but it would be nice to know not everyone and their long-lost cousins have completely abandoned their duties. He counts himself among those, actually, but the weird glowy thing on his hand and being taken prisoner at the Conclave at least provides a decent excuse for it.

My Lavellan continues to work her way through the Exalted Plains. After helping Solas with his Spirit friend, she found nearby another clan of Dalish elves who found themselves besieged by the demons and undead that were all over the Exalted Plains as a result of the activities of a rebel group called the "Freemen of the Dales" who were trying to simultaneously defeat both combatants in the Orlesian Civil War. Lavellan and her team conducted a number of quests to earn the clan's favor which ultimately yielded an enthusiastic new recruit for the Inquisition. Afterwards, her team began clearing the fighting positions of the combatants of demons and undead. Particularly vexing are the Arcane horror demons that guard pits filled with dead bodies set up to draw demons!
In addition, Lavellan and her team returned to the Hinterlands and finally killed the dragon! They were greatly helped by newly-crafted Masterworks armor made with a special fade-touched Obsidian that gives three guard for every hit which she has been farming in Redcliffe. (Now even "squishy" mages and rogues can have guard!) They also utilized fire resistance potions that recently became available from a new merchant in Val Royeaux.
Currently, my PC is also faced with deciding on what additional mage training she should undertake: Mortalitasi, Rift Mage, or Knight Enchanter (Arcane Warrior?). She'll have to more closely observe the three mages on her team to figure out what would work best for her...

Doran Surana found the Temple in Haven in his search for Andraste's ashes. He died about 10 times, then went back to camp to switch Morrigan for Wynne and returned to the temple. Died about 8 times now but having a healer present was very useful.

Played the Brosca ORigin for the first time today. Wow! It was great! The moment when: they find out you aren't Everd and you toss your helmet to the ground! I chose the line, "And I beat all of your best!" At that point, my Brosca was like, going to die anyway, not going to die with my head held in shame! I felt so proud.
Other things. I got a crush on Leske immediately! stab to the heart that he liked Rica so much, my Naderra Brosca wasn't even on his radar. Friend zoned SO HARD.
So glad I could kill Berhat, the way he was talking with his goons about my sister! Ya know, I like having siblings better than parents. Parents are always trying to impart advice adn tell you what to do. Siblings just get to be family
And man! Duncan was using his reasonable politic voice so hard when he was conscripting me! I felt like I was being inducted into the Knighthood on the spot!
And I'm sad I didn't even get one line of goodbye with Rica before I left with Duncan. Glad she likes her patron, Bhelen, though. I always did wonder if it was a forced thing.
And I'm worried a bit about Leske. We did kill Jarvia's lover... And he's left behind in all that. :/ Don't tell me otherwise! I want to find out about what happens to him later and not be spoiled!
In advance, I had guessed that I would like the Brosca origin 2nd to the city elf. As much as I liked it, I think I'm going to go with 3rd place. Tabris, Surana (which is a magical city elf!), and Brosca third. Cousland 4th, Mahariel 5th, and Aeducan a super distance 6th. I guess if I put Amell on there, I'd go about even with Mahariel. Edit add: Oh yeah! Why can't I sell that stupid nugget of lyrium! The guy said I could. BAH. Cailan has Zevran's hairstyle. First time I ever noticed. Dwarf gets the same racist options as the elf origins. BAH. I want to be racist in a dwarven way!
