I can feel that. I had that happen with Kaltenzahn once; her skull fell through the floor. Don't tell me you fought that oaf at this distance. I can only remember pelting it with staff firebolts from the maximum distance possbile until it finally keeled over. Bad Kaltenzahn, bad I may have Frost Stepped through it a few times, but otherwise I kept close to Dorian (and far away from giant) to keep barrier on both mages. That picture was taken after it refused to drop loot and I tried to poke it It did respawn later, after I returned from quick war table trip to Skyhold. Fortunately this time it dropped my loot, so no more repeated fights.

Thomas Hawke and Aveline headed to Brennan's post in Lowtown to hear her explanation.
Aveline asked why she hadn't heard that there was unrest in her district, and Brennan regretfully explained that the former captain Jeven was behind it. She didn't report it because she was hurt to see him fall so low.
Brennan assured Aveline that none of the other guards were involved in this rebellion: none of them wanted to follow Jeven again, so he had to dig for supporters in the same mudpile where the anti-Qunari puppetmasters had. Brennan said that they must have forgotten how many Qunari the Champion killed, but Thomas figured it was at least as likely they remembered that Thomas tried to prevent that war.
Aveline told her to go back to the barracks, in a hurt and angry voice. Then she told Thomas they needed to go to the rally, held in Darktown. (Did Brennan tell her that? I don't remember Brennan telling her that.)
The party was waylaid by thugs shortly after they arrived in Darktown, but who can say if Jeven's behind that? Being waylaid by thugs just happens in this city.
The party slaughtered their way through these thugs, and came to Jeven's rally.
They interrupted him in the midst of railing against foreigners like Hawke and Aveline gaining influence. He said that foreign powers were taking control through them, and that it was an insult to Kirkwall's independence. He specifically said that Aveline, "the Ferelden with the Orlesian name," was an example of how low Kirkwall had fallen.
So that's why they hated the man who'd helped them kill Qunari. Not because he'd tried to make peace with them, and in fact it wasn't really about the Qunari in specific: they just hated everyone who wasn't originally from Kirkwall.
Thomas decided to step aside and let Aveline handle this. And handle it she did.
She asked if the men he'd rallied knew why Jeven had been fired and Aveline had replaced him. If they knew that he'd willingly sacrificed the men who'd followed him in the past, and that that's why he'd been fired and disgraced.
Half of his men deserted him. They'd apparently not known, and not been willing to work with scum like that.
Three of his goon squad stayed. They must really hate Fereldens.
The party handled these guys pretty swiftly, but more poured down the staircase into his meeting place. It was a shame they weren't there to watch Jeven get taken down a peg; who even knows how many of these guys didn't know what Jeven was?
Thomas looted the few corpses present before the second wave closed with them. Jeven's turned out to have a handy modification for the guard armor Aveline was wearing, and she swiftly applied it before the fun started again.
A third wave appeared (Aveline must not be very popular among the bigoted dregs of society) and Aveline charged right into the center of the main wave while a few thugs circled around and attacked Thomas, Anders, and Merrill.
Thomas sent Merrill up to back up Aveline while he handled the sneaky bastards attacking the squishier party members. Merrill froze most of them and hit them with lightning, and that was all the odds-evening Aveline needed.
The last nail in the coffin was when Aveline's blade managed to mind control a thug, and she helped take down the other two remaining thugs... before the effect wore off and Aveline turned her full attention to her former temporary ally.
Aveline was in shock that people preferred Jeven to her, and said she wanted to go back to the barracks.
Aveline was still in shock when they arrived, not just because Jeven had managed to build a following, but because Brennan hadn't said anything about it. Donnic walked in, asking for orders, and Aveline asked if he'd follow them.
Donnic asked for permission to speak freely, and then said that there wasn't a man there who wouldn't follow her to the Void and back.
Aveline's confidence was visibly restored, and she said there was something else, but that she needed a minute.
Thomas tried to talk to her again immediately afterwards... and found himself teleported out of her office. He walked back in, and found that Aveline had had time for what seemed like a fairly long conversation with Isabela in the meantime.
After Isabela left, Aveline told Thomas that King Alistair had finally finished sorting out who had died at Ostagar and who hadn't, and was offering to let any officers who returned to Ferelden regain their commissions. Thomas pointed out that they'd been sworn to Cailan, not Alistair, but Aveline retorted that they'd been sworn to Ferelden.
They reminisced about the horror of seeing the signal fire light, but not receiving their promised backup... and Aveline eventually revealed that no, she wasn't going back to Ferelden. She was staying right here, rather than abandoning her men as Loghain had abandoned his.

That night at the Hangman, Arys and Donnic spent a very lonely evening and night. Aveline didn't show up. Well she did show up, but she never came up to the table to talk to Donnic and Arys. This ended up with Donnic believing Arys had a thing for him. And this wasn't the end of the Arys did in the next 24 hours. She managed to convince Aveline to bring Donnic in patrol to court him. Except that it turned up in a disaster. To the point Isabela said she would do a move on Donnic and proposing positions to them at the end. Oh Isabela. Aveline was really upset and was thinking she should run for it. In the end, Donnic came to talk to Aveline and somehow everything worked out. Arys was now thinking that maybe she shouldn't do favors for Aveline in the future. Just maybe. Next, she went to deal with Ser Varnell who had the missing Qunari the Viscount asked Hawke to investigate. Sister Mother Petrice's lackey. He was rallying up mobs to fight against the Qunari. Petrice used them to kill Hawke. Didn't work out well for them. Or Petrice was a master manipulator, using Hawke like that to clean up after her. Arys couldn't really tell. With that mater solved, the Viscount asked another favor of Hawke: bring his son back. Seamus converted to the Qun. Arys was wondering why she was bothering with it, but once at the Qunari camp, she learned his father had already requested him to go to the Chantry. Arys didn't like that, the Viscount would have told her...and the Chantry. More Petrice was coming, Arys new that. And that's exactly what happened. It was a setup to make Hawke looks like a Qunari sympathizer who had killed Seamus in the Chantry. It's not like the Viscount would have believe that crap. And neither did the Grand Cleric once she learned about the whole thing. Nor the Qunari who dealt with Petrice. Elthina didn't even look back. Arys started to think that the Grand Cleric didn't really give a damn what was going on in the city... Once that was all done with, Hawke went back home but mother was missing. Then white lilies were mentioned and Arys went "Oh Noes!". She rushed to Lowtown, got some information from an urchin (giving him some silvers for his trouble) and...when back straight to the Foundry she had visited years ago. There was an hidden trap there and an hidden hideout. The smell was terrible, as were all the body parts everywhere. Some kind of maniac lived there. Maniac who had sewed women together to bring back his lost love. Another crazy blood mage. After dealing with him and his demons, Arys was able to talk to what remained of her mother for a bit...and then she was alone. Aveline offered her condolences, Arys almost wanted to blame her but didn't. Hawke was hoping this was the last of her problems but Isabela and Aveline came up with issues. Isabela seemed more important, her life was in the balance, and probably all of Kirkwall. She had stolen the things the Arishok wanted to recover the leave. Dammit Isabela! They went where you contacts said she would find the seller. Arys mostly found Qunari..and tevinter mages. The guy who was going to sell the relic ran away and Isabela ran away after him. In the end, Isabela ran off with the relics and Hawke was left to deal with Aveline's request: get back criminals who were hiding as Qun converts. Except that apparently they were not exactly criminals. Well they did murder a guard, but it was justice. At least, Arys approved what they did, she would have done the same. But looking a the Arishok it was a terrible time for discussion and something else was amiss. In fact, the Qunari attacked Aveline and Hawke...and the rest of the city. This was clearly planned. Hawkes and her friends fought over the city. Qunari and looters. Even getting helps from Wardens. Wardens that included Bethany. But the reunion was short lived and ended on a sour note when Arys told her about mother. They eventually made it to Hightown, where they encountered Knight-Commander Meredith. Arys did think she liked her, but they joined forced to make it to the Keep. Even getting the Grand Enchanter Orsino along. Arys decided to attack the keep straight up. Then reinforcement was coming, so she went alone with her party inside while the Templars and mage would hold the door. There the Arishok had gathered the noble and started to complain they were blind and stupid. Not really a reasons to purge the city to Arys. He had already dealt with the Viscount too. Then Isabela showed up, relic in her hands and she gave it to the Arishok. Arys was confused. Isabela complained it was her damn influence that made it do it. Then the Arishok said he would leave, with the relic and the thief. Arys said NO! And tus become the Champion of Kirkwall after killing all the Qunari in the keep, Arishok included and Meredith scary frown of disapproval. Without a Viscount, Meredith took over the control of the city. Sorta, everyone was just scared of it. After 3 years, some people were starting to get annoyed, starting with Orsino. This could only go badly. Well worst than usually in Kirkall. ------------- Act II finished! This is still one of the most gut wrenching video game chapter I know. Leandra! It was also the first time I played this with Alistair being alive and Warden. Hello there.

Started the other day by doing a few more quests in Denerim (such as delivering the second set of drake scales), and after that we travelled down to the Brecilian forest to help out Jowan (Raelyn released let him go). After that we traveled back to Denerim, got the second set of drake-scale armor. Then we traveled over to Soldier’s Peak. Cleared out said peak from undead, demons and other nasty critters. Found Levi’s great-grandmother Sophia (who was possessed by a demon) and killed her. Also found the mage Avernus and his research, Raelyn drank the concoction. Avernus helped them mend the veil and Raelyn decided to keep him in order to have him ethically research the Blight with the years he had left. After that traveled over to Orzammar, cleaning out some bounty hunters at the gates and send Loghain’s people back to Denerim with their tails between their legs. Apparently the Dwarven King had died not long ago, leaving the entire city in a state of unrest. The city was divided between the King’s son Bhelen, and the King’s trusted advisor Harrowmont. Apparently Bhelen was responsible for the death of his father (as well as his two siblings), and Harrowmont was apparently the one the late King wanted as his successor. So yay, more problems to fix. Today we went into the city and talked with some people in order to get more information about the candidates, also observed the lockdown at the Assembly. After thinking things over Raelyn decided to side with the progressive albeit shady Bhelen Aeducan. Helped him in a smear campaign against Harrowmont -swaying a pair of key players to Bhelen’s side- and dealt with the Carta leader Jarvia in his name. (Raelyn also met with Dagna, Orta, Filda and Zerlinda and did their respective quests) After doing these things, Bhelen revealed there was one last thing that needed to be done. He needed something dramatic to have him be recognized as King and told Raelyn to find the Paragon Branka in the Deep Roads. So off they went, though before entering the Deep Roads the group was approached by Oghren, a disgraced member of the Warrior caste and Branka’s husband. He revealed to her that he knew what Branka was looking for and asked to join forces in order to find his missing wife and family. Entering the Deep Roads meant fighting darkspawn, loads, and loads of darkspawn. Also the occasional deep stalker and some giant spiders.

Thomas Hawke went back home to take another look at his writing desk. He found a letter from the Comte de Launcet thanking him for saving Emile. Specifically, the letter thanked him with money. Everyone should be so grateful. He also found a letter from King Alistair of Ferelden asking to meet him at the Viscount's Keep. Thomas couldn't say no to that request, could he? He left immediately, and found Knight-Commander Meredith already there, arguing with King Alistair about something. Meredith said that she wasn't going to do whatever Alistair had asked, because three of her mages had escaped to Ferelden and Alistair was protecting them as though it was his right do do so. She eventually stormed off, and Thomas approached to greet him. Alistair seemed to realize Anders had been a Grey Warden, and Anders had heard that Alistair had been. Alistair noted that they got around. Thomas and Alistair got down to business: the man standing with Alistair introduced Thomas to Alistair, and Alistair introduced himself and the man standing with him. The man was Teagan. His uncle. Sort of. Sort Of Teagan clarified that he was actually Teagan, and only sort of Alistair's uncle. Alistair said that he'd hoped to get a talk with Thomas before Meredith had happened onto the scene and dressed him down: apparently he wanted to ask a favor of Thomas that Meredith had the power to prevent. (I think?) Anyway, Thomas gathered from their conversation that there was an Orlesian movement to reclaim Ferelden, and that Celene was trying to tamp it down. He also gathered that the Circle in Ferelden was still controlled by the templars, and that while Alistair wasn't averse to the idea of trying to help free it, he didn't think he had the power to. Thomas also noted that a whole lot of Fereldens had fled to Kirkwall. Alistair sadly noted that that was true, and that he didn't have the power to help them at the time. He also noted that they're all welcome back whenever they want to come, and asked Thomas if he might take that offer. Thomas said that no, Kirkwall was his home by then. Alistair noted that he'd wished their was a Viscount to speak to, and Thomas said that he might be able to impose Thomas on the city. Alistair figured that Knight-Commander Meredith could probably stop him. What's the point of being a king if it doesn't mean you can do whatever you want, to help whoever you think deserves it? Alistair closed the conversation by just asking Thomas to protect Kirkwall from any threats it may face. Thomas said that it was just him between Kirkwall and disaster, and Alistair ruefully noted that yes, he'd been there too. Alistair and Teagan left, with Teagan noting that the Hero of Ferelden was back in Denerim by then. Alistair said "he has a name," but Alistair never actually said "Jeeves Tabris" either. Thomas went back home and went back to the writing desk. The only letter he hadn't attended to was from First Enchanter Orsino, and it said that there was an important matter he couldn't attend to because Meredith had forbidden him from leaving the grounds of the Gallows. Thomas didn't have anything less important to do, so he grabbed Fenris, Anders, and Merrill and headed right over. Orisno explained that mages were disappearing from the Circle at night, often for days at a time. Okay, how does that happen? Mages vanishing isn't hard to swallow given that tunnel, but mages reappearing and nobody asking about it? How are the templars missing that? Orsino is afraid that they're meeting in Hightown somewhere, and at the risk of sounding like a Meredith-level paranoid loon, he thinks they might even be learning blood magic. He's also afraid Meredith will have more ammunition if he asks her to handle it for him, and that if he goes to investigate himself, Meredith will accuse him of being involved and manage to sell the Right of Annulment. Orsino said that all he asks is that Thomas investigate, and that he needn't intervene unless he sees clear reason to do so. Thomas was relieved to hear that he needn't slit his wrists and dance naked under the moonlight to fit in, but Anders said that he was being a little hasty throwing the idea away entirely... Thomas and friends headed to Hightown, by a circuitous route such that they only arrived that night. They approached the plaza where the de Launcets lived, and came onto... mages and templars meeting? I guess this explains how the templars managed to miss a plot this obvious. Some of them are in on it! The templar leader there saw Thomas, and sent one of the mages away while he, his templars, and the other mages stayed to slow Thomas down. Most of the templars weren't much to speak of: Thomas shot them each two or three times, and they went down. The templar lieutenant in charge, however, took some real killing. He wound up keeping his feet for so long that Thomas decided it was better to let everyone else pound on the templar boss, while Thomas pounded on the mages who were still up: he did not want them getting off any big spells. Of course subsequent waves appeared. Thomas had the rest of the party attack the templars while he took out the mages. When it was over, Thomas took a note off of the templar leader: it was part of a letter admonishing him for letting unvetted people into the meetings, since Meredith has spies everywhere and they do not want her attention before they're ready to take her down. It mentioned that the people who needed vetting should be taken to a specific warehouse at the docks. Useful lead. But first Thomas felt the need to call on the de Launcets, and see how they were doing. Not so well. The girl their son had lost his virginity to claimed they'd done the deed last night (even though it had been several days ago) and claimed to be pregnant with his child. The Comte insisted that she couldn't know this soon, which I'm pretty sure is right by either timeline: my understanding is that it can take months for a woman to realize what's happened. The barmaid was interested in twisting the situation into a marriage. The Comte was interested in hiding her on their estate out in the country. And the Comtesse had performed an illegal operation and needed to shut down. Thomas left the happy family's mansion and headed to the tunnels out of Hightown.

Arys's current year in Kirkwall was starting to become insane.
First, the street gangs were now lead by crazy mages or demons. Arys wasn't sure why a demon would be interested in stealing from people in the first place.
Second, there was blood mages walking in the street attacking people. And those were not the ones Knight-Commander Meredith asked Hawke to find. Where did they come from? Of the escaped Circle mage Meredith wanted found, only two turned out to be crazies (what do they eat at the circle?). The last one was a manchild, son of a nobles, and went back to the Circle without much issues after he was able to make himself a man. Meredith wanted to behead him, but Arys managed to convince her otherwise. hmm, didn't they use to make them tranquils instead of killing them? Meredith was starting to be a problem.
Third, her companions were making strange request, except for Aveline and Isabela. Anders wanted some ingredients to make a potions so he could split himself from Justice, then he asked that Hawke distract the Grand Cleric with no explanation. She refused, something was very fishy there. Anders even went into Meredith's face when Arys went to report her hunt for the escaped mages. After Anders, Merrill wanted to go talk to her demon. Arys was all "no!". Varric wanted to clean up his brother's house. It haunted now apparently. Great... At least, Isabela just wanted to deal with Castillon and Aveline had some issues who turned out to be Jeven, the guard-captain she had arrested because he was a crook. That was easy to deal with.
Fourth, a High Dragon destroyed the Bone Pit mine! Hubert was now ruined. Arys just asked to take over the place, maybe she could managed to get something out of it eventually.
Fifth, Arys was sure there was going to be a fifth. The sky might fall? Dragon invasion?

Yeah, Marethari is inconsistent here. Earlier, she talks about the Eluvian being tainted (which Merrill solved), in Act3 she switches to "would have let the demon escape". Did you pick the only dialogue option which does not lead to all the Dalish going berserk intentionally for RP reasons or did you previous knowledge? (I just hate how this is written. ) Previous knowledge. Not from a previous playthrough, since this is my first one: I'd read how to do it on the wiki years ago. I would not have guessed which one it was otherwise. I'd have probably gone with "Marethari was possessed" if I hadn't known how badly that choice would have gone. I understood why this dialogue option worked once I heard the long-form version. The short-version sounded like Hawke was accepting blame for this incident, and I had no idea why that would mollify the clan. On the other hand, accepting responsibility for preventing future incidents sounds as likely to work as anything else does. Still, they could have made that quite a bit clearer than they did. I wonder how many times that unclear wording on the dialogue wheel got the whole clan killed? That's the same thing I did with DAI. My first Inquisitor was a Lavellan, and vaguely knew about that ridiculous WT OP chain befoerhand, so I unabashedly looked it up, after guessing right for the inital OP ("No, Cullen. We won't barge in there with a bunch of troops flying Chantry insginia." ) I looked that up on Youtube (don't have the game installed at the moment) and you are right. Stupid dialogue wheel. "Imma make sure that this never happens again." should have been there or something. Eh, I suppose the Sabrae end up dead in more PTs than alive. There's the dialogue mess, people who don't bother to understand the Dalish and are just annoyed, people being annoyed by Merrill, Bioware never passing up a chance to kill a bunch of Dalish, and Bioware's narratives painting them increasingly negative. I was very surprised that TN had a story were the killers get some sort of commuppance, with the exception that it was a frickin' Crow (Ridiculously Awesome Rogueish Shenanigans + Murder inc.) who did it. Thomas Hawke headed to the docks warehouse where the templar lieutenant's note said that the conspiracy was vetting potential members.
When he got there, one of the templar conspirators recognized him and refused to fight. The other ones were all ready to go.
The party slaughtered everyone there except for the one who'd run and hid, and even got to take down a whole bunch of reinforcements in the bargain.
They followed their usual strategy: Thomas used Pinning Shot on any mages who had health bars bigger than their heads, and otherwise contented himself blasting the enemies who he thought he could kill in one shot (prioritizing mages, archers, and swordsmen in that order.) Fenris tried to stay close to the mages and archers so that he could distract anyone who tried anything, Merrill blasted, and Anders healed if anyone needed it.
When the killing was done, the templar who'd refused to fight Thomas stepped forward, and Thomas recognized him as the templar recruit he'd saved from Tarohne. He'd said that he didn't approve of kidnapping, and that if he'd known Thomas was involved, he would have actively prevented it.
Thomas knew he wasn't going to like this, but he had to ask what Keran was talking about anyway.
Keran said that the other conspirators said they'd need a hostage so that someone could be counted on to stay out of the way. She was a sister, taken from the Circle.
Thomas doesn't usually use red dialogue options.
For this special occasion, he made what I'm pretty sure is his second exception all game.
"You bastards kidnapped my sister!?"
Keran assured Thomas Bethany was okay, and said that he could find her at their base on the Wounded Coast. He also explained a little of the conspiracy's goals: Thrask had set it up, since he wanted to avoid the conflict everyone knew was coming. He showed the mages and templars involved, one by one, that they didn't have to be enemies. The mages involved weren't really apostates, either: they wanted the Circle, they just couldn't pretend it was working the way its founders had intended it to.
Thomas reluctantly let Keran go, and Keran said he was going to stay with his sister for the time being, since he couldn't serve Meredith in good conscience anymore.
Let's hope nobody kidnaps her. That would be a shame, wouldn't it?
Thomas looted the hell out of the warehouse he'd found himself in, picking up a Tevinter sword that he planned to give Fenris later and a Mage Underground sigil that went well with Anders's armor (and had room for a rune in it.) And then he immediately left for the Wounded Coast, despite his distaste for doing important stuff when he could screw around: that goes out the window when Bethany's in danger.
The rebellion turned out to be meeting on the same peninsula where the Winters had picked up Seamus and where Evets' Marauders had been camped. Thomas had been wondering if something big was going to happen there.
Thomas ran into a couple of mages and templars on the path down. And when the expected second wave arrived on the scene... they reanimated the corpses of the templars the party had just killed.
Okay, blood magic. Thomas can't judge considering what he lets his girlfriend get up to, but what kind of templar allows that?
Samson stepped out from behind a rock once the party had put the dead templars back down, and said that he'd joined the rebellion out of spite against Meredith: he wanted to see her fall from grace just as he had. But seeing the mages turn to blood magic had turned him off: he saw that the mages could do things for their freedom that no other oppressed group could, and it scared him. He'd wanted to see Meredith shipped off to Val Royeaux to retire, but he wasn't willing to see all that was good and right thrown away in order to pull it off.
I wonder what he would throw away all that was good and right for?
Thomas said that he was there to help the mages, and Samson said he was on his own.
Thomas continued down the path into the mage-templar alliance's camp, and saw Bethany lying unconscious on the ground. That was hardly encouraging. He also saw Thrask standing next to Grace, the escaped Starkhaven mage who seemed to blame Thomas for the fact that she'd been recaptured. Also not encouraging.
Thrask lamented that Thomas seemed to have taken Meredith's side, given that it was Thomas's killing of Ser Karras that had inspired Thrask to do as he did. He followed up by going into a long list of things Thomas already knew about why Meredith needed to go. Thomas replied that he had not taken Meredith's side, and somehow managed not to add "what kind of dumbass are you for thinking that I would?"
Thrask immediately recognized that he'd misjudged the situation (rather badly, too) and called for Bethany to be released.
Grace insisted that no, Bethany had to die, and then her brother did.
Thomas was completely unsurprised to see his decision to help her bite him on the ass.
She said that Decimus was right: that there was no way for mages to live under templar law. She said that Thomas had killed the greatest man she'd ever known (which is sad if true) but that she'd already learned everything he had to teach. And then she commanded Alain, the member of her group who had surrendered to Thrask willingly all those years ago, to kill Bethany.
Thomas said that this is what happens when you help a blood mage... when he really should have just been showing Grace why you wear armor on a battlefield. Seriously, Hawke. You're an archer. Arch her in the face. You know it's going to come to that anyway.
For his part, Alain proved Thomas wrong about him pretty much immediately: he was not willing to murder to honor Decimus's memory.
Grace decided to do it herself, and stabbed herself through the chest with her staff.
Thrask told her to stand down... and she killed him instead. Grace gave the orders to "forget the hostage" and "kill the Champion," which came as more of a relief than they should have.
Thomas couldn't help but be surprised when the templars with her obeyed that order too. Hadn't she just thoroughly demonstrated that she wasn't fighting for what they'd thought the end-goal was? Frankly, the only reasonable reason they'd do that is mind-control.
Thomas hit Grace with Pinning Shot so that she couldn't end the entire party simultaneously, and then started killing anyone who looked like they'd die in one hit. By the time Grace had shaken the arrow in her leg, Merrill had hit her with Horror, and the entire party had started dogpiling on her.
She became an Abomination of Pride, and used the Pride demon's power combined with her own to... absolutely nothing. She just charged at the gang like a common beast, and got put down like one.
It was about this time that more templars started pouring into the clearing. These maybe weren't mind controlled: maybe they hadn't seen just how badly Thrask had misjudged Grace. Anyway, they did a whole lot better than you'd expect: their archers put so many arrows into Anders that he had to use Aid Allies, then a healing potion, and then Heal. And he's lucky that they'd started ignoring him in favor of Fenris after all of that, or he'd had gone down anyway.
Thomas helped finish off the surviving templars, and then Alain said that Kirkwall's Circle was even worse than Starkhaven's, and that as much as he'd tried to avoid Grace, she'd seemed the only way out of his situation.
He also said that Grace had knocked Bethany out with blood magic, and that only blood magic could wake Bethany up again. He obligingly opened his wrist, and she woke up. She said that the last thing she remembered was templars coming into her cell.
Thomas mockingly chided her for getting beaten by a few templars, and Bethany reminded him that it was a bad idea to fight templars in the Circle. She also thanked him for arranging for her to wake again.
Cullen arrived on the scene... accompanied by Samson, who'd clearly told him everything, including Thomas's desire to join the rebellion. Friggin' snitch.
Cullen said that the survivors needed to be dealt with, and Thomas told Cullen to go easy on Alain: he'd stood up to Grace when Grace decided Bethany needed to die. Cullen interpreted that as "he was a rebel before a last minute change of heart," but agreed that he could try to persuade Meredith to be merciful.
Thomas also added that he shouldn't kill the rebels just for not liking Meredith: Kirkwall would soon be empty if Cullen killed everyone in it who doubted Meredith should be in charge. Cullen agreed to take that into consideration.
Bethany, Samson, and the templars left. Thomas looted the bodies, and tried on a hood he'd found on Grace's that matched the armor set he'd been assembling.
He liked it.
He then headed to the apostate merchant in the old Tal'Vashoth camp to sell a whole lot of stuff... and wound up buying a ring that cost more than two thirds his money, but gave whoever wore it immunity to stunning attacks. He gave it to Anders at first, but is considering taking it back to wear himself.

Bad Kaltenzahn, bad I may have Frost Stepped through it a few times, but otherwise I kept close to Dorian (and far away from giant) to keep barrier on both mages. That picture was taken after it refused to drop loot and I tried to poke it It did respawn later, after I returned from quick war table trip to Skyhold. Fortunately this time it dropped my loot, so no more repeated fights. That's the line reserved for when Ms. Kaltenzahn calls her babies... Now that smilie remembers me. I should at one point try to melee a dragon with a maul or something. For the lolz and turining Ms. Kaltenzahn in to Ms. Kaltenzahnlos.
Uuuh... I hope the troll only respawns when glitched so. Heh, don't worry. My guess is it had to respawn because of unique item it drops. Didn't see it later You should try 2H melee against dragon. 'Tis fun Go Champion and it's almost impossible to die

Frostback Basin is so pretty in daylight I wish it stayed like that. To recount some of my I already mentioned my encounter(s) with Ice Giant. What I didn't mention is the second time I fought it, it got catapulted into the air and died due to fall damage. What it is in this pt with enemies dying in the most anticlimatic way This time I decided to do all available side quests before going On Ameridan's Trial, so that I could play last stretch of DLC without distraction. Hakkonites were distracting enough, with all possibilites to Stonefist them from high places. After meeting Ameridan (this meeting still hurts), it was time to kill another god. I had fun reflecting Hakkon's snowballs. Upgraded Aegis of the Rift ftw. Oh, and at one point bird decided this is going to be its new home. Sorry, birb, we need to go. Next, the Descent.

I think it's partially due to the crossbow, but also because I currently have way too much time on my hands (I'm once again without school and work ) and also because I've played this game so many times I can practically play it blindfolded...not that I recommend doing that
Had a conversation about that with a friend of mine a few days back, he said he wanted to play a new game, so I said: me: why not play a game you haven't done in a while? Like...Dragon Age (hint hint) or Mass Effect (hint) him: nah, I've played them so much I know them like the back of my hand...it's no fun that way me: but that's what makes it fun him: nah, I still want a new game me: *sigh* [inwardly] mission failed
he had a rather entertaining male Amell Warden at some point, I've been trying to get him to replay that character (or any DA) but so far he hasn't caught the bait

Today I re-installed Dragon Age: Inquisition. Its been a few years, but I figured it was time to play again. Going with a mage for my only characters was a rogue for my 100% playthrough and just stuck with it again for my critical path playthrough on the hardest difficulty.
Any tips or suggestions for someone that hasn't played the game in four years?

Today I re-installed Dragon Age: Inquisition. Its been a few years, but I figured it was time to play again. Going with a mage for my only characters was a rogue for my 100% playthrough and just stuck with it again for my critical path playthrough on the hardest difficulty. Any tips or suggestions for someone that hasn't played the game in four years? For build suggestion, if you like melee and want to Mage at the same time, there is the Blade of the Tiderion. Synergize well with Energy Barrage. Go for Knight-Enchanter for added defenses, but that specialization isn't required to mash people in the face with an energy blade. Downside: the schematic is in Tresspasser (so Golden Nug required for new PT), but the initial blade is in Crestwood Astrariums chest. Necromancer synergize with the Fire branch from what I remember. It's been like 5 years I played Necro... Rift Mage has a funny trainer. Actually, considering her state, I wonder what that says about Solas. I don't like Rift Mage so no comment here from me. And now the normal advises: - Don't stick to the Hinterlands - The faster you get to Skyhold, the faster the game open (+ get spec). So stick to the main quests as much as you can until then. - You don't have to visit all the maps unless you want a 100% PT so you don't unlock everything mindlessly, save from doing the boring requisitions/camp for Power. - Jaws of Hakkon and Descent have post-ending references, although both can be done before you deal with Corypheus. - Champions of the Just > In Hushed Whispers, because Calpernia > Samsom. - Set a drink potions rule in the preference for your party members. You can also use "preferred" star on abilities so they try to use those on priority (on a shield Warrior, set that to shield wall and warcry, the AI isn't too stupid with it surprisingly).

That's what you get for all the restarting. R.O.F.L. on the second part. Well, what can I say? I play old shit up and down. The most modern game (in terms of release date) I own is MEA. Next best is DAI. Speaking of it, I want an old school Horror spells back next game, so all these oafs and knife nuts just flail around holding their heads. Reload if you get something you don't like. Most Hinterland reqs are utter shite, especially the dwarven puzzle box. Where's the only source of obsidian? Where the local lizard lady dwells. *wants to strangle level designer*

Necromancer synergize with the Fire branch from what I remember. It's been like 5 years I played Necro... You remember correctly. A lot of spells and passives in Inferno tree utilize panic, which plays nicely with Necromancer's own use of panic status. Rift Mage has great synergy with Winter tree. In theory it should also work nicely with Storm tree, but due to Weakened + Shocked not working as intended, it feels lacking, so I usually focus on Winter for Shatter combo. No matter which specialization you play, it's good to invest a bit in Spirit tree. If not for Barrier, then for two passives that come after it: Guardian Spirit for additional survivability and Peaceful Aura for threat reduction.

If you ever want to keep him as 2H, I'd suggest giving IB Horn of Valor with Fortifying Blast upgrade (set on priority), plus both guard generating taunts. Ignore Dragon Rage from his Reaver tree and he's actually pretty sturdy in this set-up. Horn of Valor with Fortifying Blast makes massive difference in his survivability. Just like giving Cole Poisoned Weapons with Leeching Poison upgrade (also priority). Trespasser really had some amazing new upgrades. Duh. As her best fleshy creature friend, she'd forgive me this one feathery companion. In exchange I'd present her with whole parrot population of Thedas. Who knows what these devils are plotting, so the sooner Shale gets to thinning their population, the better... He even mentions how long he needed to study to learn what we mastered in such a short time after you pick RM

You should try 2H melee against dragon. 'Tis fun Go Champion and it's almost impossible to die That's why I went HERESEY and gave the two-handed part to Blackwall and a S&B set to Bull. The former is still sturdy without all the shield stuff, and the latter doesn't die as quickly as a rogue ( ) when going for more defensive. 1) To recount some of my I already mentioned my encounter(s) with Ice Giant. Actually, considering her state, I wonder what that says about Solas. I don't like Rift Mage so no comment here from me. And now the normal advises: - Don't stick to the Hinterlands - The faster you get to Skyhold, the faster the game open (+ get spec). So stick to the main quests as much as you can until then. - You don't have to visit all the maps unless you want a 100% PT so you don't unlock everything mindlessly, save from doing the boring requisitions/camp for Power. - Jaws of Hakkon and Descent have post-ending references, although both can be done before you deal with Corypheus. - Champions of the Just > In Hushed Whispers, because Calpernia > Samsom. - Set a drink potions rule in the preference for your party members. You can also use "preferred" star on abilities so they try to use those on priority (on a shield Warrior, set that to shield wall and warcry, the AI isn't too stupid with it surprisingly). - Spirit Blade has been nerfed since early releases Doesn't matter with Blade of Tiderion + Energy Barrage. You spam that, not Spirit Blade, even when playing KE. You keep Spirit Blade for removing barrier/guard, super effective at full charges.

After clearing the hunting problems at Bartrand's old estate, Arys needed some fresh air. How would a ghost golem even exist? She couldn't stay as Kirkwall only sane person much longer if she didn't do so.
She recently had an invitation to an Orlesian Hunting party in the Virmark Mountains at Château Haine. She wasn't too sure about going there originally, because Orlesians, but while doing a night stroll in Hightown, she was jumped by Antivian Crows. That's when an elf called Tallis showed up and helped deal with them. Arys was wondering if she was the one who hired the Crows just to make a grand entrance or she was using Champion of Kirkwall has a fake name and someone ended up setting the Crows on Arys because of it. Arys couldn't get that out of her, but she got out why she showed up: She wanted to go the hunting party, Duke Prosper had something she wanted to take from him. A Jewel. Arys and Isabela both agreed this could be fun. Not the hunt, the heist. Isabela also reminded Hawke to loot the Crows's bodies before leaving...but Arys didn't need a reminder.
Once at the mountain castle, Hawke and friends had to participate in a wyvern hunt. Arys was sure that wasn't quite like hunting people and the Duke didn't give her a manual. But if she wanted access to the castle soon, she better find a wyvern and kill it. Oh and avoid its venom was doing so. So off to the hunting grounds to fin...dragons. Hawke hoped these would be good as bait for the wyvern. -------- The best DLC for Purple Hawke. I'm just annoyed that Tallis is forced on your party and that means I have 3 rogues and 1 mage right now. Terrible party for some of the encounters in it.

Previous knowledge. Not from a previous playthrough, since this is my first one: I'd read how to do it on the wiki years ago. I would not have guessed which one it was otherwise. I'd have probably gone with "Marethari was possessed" if I hadn't known how badly that choice would have gone. I understood why this dialogue option worked once I heard the long-form version. The short-version sounded like Hawke was accepting blame for this incident, and I had no idea why that would mollify the clan. On the other hand, accepting responsibility for preventing future incidents sounds as likely to work as anything else does. Still, they could have made that quite a bit clearer than they did. I wonder how many times that unclear wording on the dialogue wheel got the whole clan killed? That's the same thing I did with DAI. My first Inquisitor was a Lavellan, and vaguely knew about that ridiculous WT OP chain befoerhand, so I unabashedly looked it up, after guessing right for the inital OP ("No, Cullen. We won't barge in there with a bunch of troops flying Chantry insginia." ) To give Bioware some credit, I don't think they meant for the War Table Mission Chain with Clan Lavellan to be as easy to mess up as it was. They provide hints as to what to do on most of the War Table missions in it. They don't hint at all on the first one (I think they expected everyone to know how badly Cullen's suggestion would end) and the hints are pretty subtle on the second one (the only hint that Josephine's attempt to go to the Duke for help will fail is Leiliana's note on her suggestion that it's curious he'd let bandits this close to his lands at all.) But with the rest, if you read closely enough, you can tell which advisor's advice will kill your clan. Sometimes you don't even need to read closely: the advisor whose advice will save your clan will often tell you exactly why the other advisor's advice is a bad idea. Now, to moderate the credit I'm giving Bioware there, they seriously overestimated how closely everyone was going to read those: I used the wiki my first time through that War Table mission chain too, and only realized that Bioware had given enough hints to work it out by reading through the wiki later. They also probably should have made clearer just what the stakes of a wrong decision would be: people might have read more closely if they had. Still, my second time through that chain, I didn't need the wiki at all. ---- Thomas Hawke headed out to Fenris's mansion to give him the Tevinter sword. Fenris explained that it wasn't just Tevinter made: it was a Sword Of Mercy. Thomas twigged to the fact that he'd handed Fenris something special, and Fenris confirmed that these were replicas of the sword Archon Hessarian had used to kill Andraste, to spare her the pain of burning at the stake. These weren't something you could buy at any corner market in Tevinter: these were essentially the Tevinter equivalent of Medals of Honor. Thomas said it was Fenris's, if he wanted it. Fenris had Thomas had to be dreaming if he thought Fenris would want a Tevinter mark of honor. Thomas had to admit that was a good point, and besides, Fenris's axe had a healing-boost enchantment that was more relevant to his role in the party. So Thomas hocked the sword at the Black Emporium. Then Thomas headed home, and had Worthy create a Nature Resistance rune and an Attribute Boosting rune. Thomas added the Nature Resistance rune to his hood and the Attribute boosting rune to Anders's new sigil. Then he had a chat with Bodhan, who was giving his two weeks notice: he felt that he was getting old, and that he needed to make absolutely sure Sandal was set for life before he died. So he was leaving to seek new opportunities. Thomas asked who was going to clean the bloodstains up. Bodhan laughed and said yes, that was going to be a problem. He agreed to stay on until Thomas could find someone to replace him. Thomas half-joked that he was tempted to just leave the city with Bodhan. Bodhan sympathized, and just hoped the whole mage-templar thing didn't blow up before Bodhan left. (I can't remember if those are the exact words he used.) Thomas headed back to the Circle to report to Orsino what had happened. On the way in, he talked with Alain, who was miserable. Thrask was dead, Grace was dead, the rebellion was over, and nothing had changed. He knew this was not going to be the last such rebellion. It couldn't be. If a tyrannical government crushes a rebellion, and doesn't address the underlying causes, they're not solving the problem, they're just putting a band-aid on it. When Orsino learned that Thomas had foiled an attempt to unseat Meredith, he not-really-joked that he regretted doing anything about it. He said that he'd actually felt that Meredith might have set it up as a way to trick him into incriminating himself, and implied that that's part of why he acted. Now he'd accidentally crushed a rebellion against her. Thomas said that Meredith was the base problem here: as long as she kept her seat, this was going to happen again... or worse was. Anders could not help but agree. Orsino told them to clamp down in it, since there was noplace in the city where you could say those words safely... before admitting that Thomas and Anders weren't the only ones thinking the same thing, in a tone that implied Orsino was too. He handed Thomas mage robes, saying they'd do him more good than Orsino's friendship at the moment. This is the second time he's given Thomas, who is a rogue whose companions don't let him choose their armor, mage robes. Unless he expects Thomas to sell them, I don't know what good he thinks these are going to do him. Sure enough, Thomas sold them at the Formari enchanter's on the way out the door. He went home, and Bodhan informed Thomas that a new letter had arrived, and Thomas could read it at his leisure.
