So...question/opinions? Pictured are two potential Inquisitors I want to use for when I get to my Let's play of the Dragon Age series (which might take a while, since I semi-promised a colleague of mine to tackle all the Mass Effect ones first ) One is a new Adaar I cooked up the other day (kinda pleased with how she turned out, not gonna lie) and the other is my canon Lavellan Gwyneth...the Adaar doesn't have a name presently, though might go with Malak to give homage to my male Quizzy and it's an ironic name for a semi-demonic looking character (Malak means angel/messenger (also it's a unisex name)
For the other two characters in the series I (currently) have planned a Dwarf commoner rogue (female) dual wield axes, Duelist-Shadow) for my Warden, and Mage (female) for Hawke ...but I'm a bit on the fence on who to pick for my Inquisitor , on one hand an elven Inquisitor makes slightly more sense (especially with the elven lore dump we get in the game), and on the other hand playing a Qunari is also fun (I had a blast with my male one in the past) Also given where the story takes us, playing as an elf in DA4 might make for a more interesting choice, especially the whole "side with Solas or not" thing they might get (which I kinda hope).
Other thing I ponder about...if I make the Qunari one, should I stick with mage or make her a warrior? Also...who to romance? I'm kinda leaning toward either Blackwall or Iron Bull but don't really have a preference (I've only romanced Cullen (Lavellan) and Cassandra (male Quizzy) in the past)
Also...would a Qunari Inquisitor drink from the Well of Sorrows? I tried my second last PT to play as a Qunari and just couldn't, it just for me did not feel like it fit the story. On the other hand I have played as a male and female elf several times and I really like it especially playing as a female elf and romancing or not romancing Solas. Elf and Bow or human and bow are my favourites.

Also...would a Qunari Inquisitor drink from the Well of Sorrows? Female Qunari rogue was my first PT and I loved her. Intended her for Josephine, but Bull charmed her - quite organically. The joys of an otherwise blind first run. I like them both, but will always have a soft spot for female Qunari. Having said that, while any race/gender combo is a valid choice, there is definitely an argument to be made that BioWare really, really wanted players to run with a female elf…for…reasons

On the other hand I have played as a male and female elf several times and I really like it especially playing as a female elf and romancing or not romancing Solas. Elf and Bow or human and bow are my favourites. I kinda want to leave bow archer for DA: D, especially if we're given that bow and armor set from the gamecon 2020 trailer (it looks so pretty ) and while it could be argued that it shouldn't really matter which race/class to pick I want to try and mix things up a bit for my Let's play series. ergo...Qunari lady up there Female Qunari rogue was my first PT and I loved her. Intended her for Josephine, but Bull charmed her - quite organically. The joys of an otherwise blind first run. I like them both, but will always have a soft spot for female Qunari. Having said that, while any race/gender combo is a valid choice, there is definitely an argument to be made that BioWare really, really wanted players to run with a female elf…for…reasons yeah I know, but I'm not really feeling the egg ...he acts like a father most of the time, then again so does Blackwall (and he's realistically old enough to be my Lavellan's dad (who I head canon as being mid-twenties)
You do make a good case for female Qunari + Iron Bull romance, though I worry it might feel a bit awkward due to her being (potentially) a "Saarebas" what with him (technically) being a member of the Qun

I have played a female warrior Qunari (that romanced Iron Bull) and four female elfs (three of them romanced Solas and one romanced Cullen) and i had fun playing all of them. With my Qunari i played a more "mercenary" kind of inquisitor that didn`t cared for the human religion aspects and conflicts or the elven revelations, she only cared about restoring order, having no more demons coming from the rifts and defeating Corypheus. With the elves, i think there`s more room for role-playing, in that apart from the main goal, we could play a more traditionalist Dalish or one that doesn`t care at all for tradition. In the end, both races are fun to play and is easy to find reasons for their story to make sense. I would go for the class that you would enjoy more regarding gameplay. For the romance, I really liked Blackwall`s romance but i tend to envision him with a Dwarf and Iron Bull with a Qunari (maybe because that`s the inquisitors with whom i`ve played their romances with ) Maybe the inquisitor doesn`t trust Morrigan and prefers to be the one that drinks it?

Thanks for the feedback
When I played my Qunari character, he was a wanderer at heart who didn't really have a home, going by the whole "home is where the heart is", he believed in the Maker but didn't think of himself as the Herald of Andraste. He ended up romancing Cassandra (I had him for Josephine at first, but felt Cassandra fit him better, mostly due to Cassandra's non Divine epilogue), finding his "home" with her as it were.
-- I do prefer playing mages in this game...dunno why, it's mostly due to liking the overall gameplay as well as the tie-in with the story. Also the whole "a mage started this mess, might as well be a mage that solves it" -- Well...my last one was an elf, and I mainly had her drink from the well for the achievement. My Qunari character had Morrigan drink 'cause he felt it wasn't his place to decide. Frankly he'd have destroyed the Well as Abelas wanted.
I'm still not overly convinced on which of the two to play, but I've enough time to decide

DAOThe day started with a failed embush from an Antivan Crow, that ended up joining the group, an assassination attempt against Leliana and a demonstration of magic from the spirit within Wynne.
Then they travelled to the Brecilian Forest and found the Dalish, who had a Werewolf problem. They made a few errands for the Dalish, traded an Acorn with a mad Hermit, gave the Acorn to a talking Tree and managed to pass through a magical barrier into the Lair of the Werewolves. They managed to convince the Keeper to parley with the Lady of the Forest and after they knocked some sense into him, he agreed to break the curse. The werewolves turned into humans again and the new Keeper pledge the Dalish help agains the Blight. Before leaving the forest, the group defeated a few Revenants in order to acquire a new cool armor for Sten. Meeting Zevran. The end of the curse. And a song by the fire.

Ohh man, I'd forgotten about how Leliana's song was one of the highlights in DAO. Not just the song but the beautiful camera work as well. I wish I could play this game again.

Also...would a Qunari Inquisitor drink from the Well of Sorrows? Their faces look expressive enough to guess their personalities just from looking at them. I hope you'll make the Qunari lady as jaded and impatient as she looks . As for who should you pick, it really depends on what your priorities are. If feeling like this is fitting for the game and the story is what gives you the most satisfaction, choose Lavellan. If you're more concerned about how much you'll enjoy the journey as a whole, choose Adaar. I'd say mage Qunari, simply because it is rare to see one who isn't Sareebas. And only a mage, in general, would drink from the Well of Sorrows. I can't imagine a non-mage wanting to fuck with that, unless they just really don't trust Morrigan. Qunari warrior is really fucking cool, though. Especially if you pick Reaver, because then you have a draconic looking character attacking with energy dragon claws.

Jaded and impatient sounds about right, somewhere along the lines of; Adaar: guess I'll have to do this, even if I could just squish their heads like melons with my bare hands when I played my male Adaar I kept thinking of Thor from the first Avengers movie < perfectly sums up any Qunari character imo.
I have tried playing a warrior in Inquisition in the past, but I kept feeling like I was chasing my enemies down and that bored me, I kept switching to either Solas or Varric (said character barely made it to Skyhold as I recall) because I grew frustrated with how I wasn't hitting anything.
Plus Qunari get the funniest war table missions Shokrakar: Demons. You got us demons. Some of them were On Fire. You're the best, Adaar. You don't have to replace that broken blade for me now. We're even. or Shokrakar: I know you're busy telling the hairy-eyes what to do. Humans need a lot of direction. That's fine. (love how she insists that the Inquisition is the "hairy-eyes" group)
I can just picture her being this somewhat older Qunari woman who's grumpy a lot but cares about her mercenaries like they're her own kids and will kill anyone who so much as breathes at them the wrong way (doubly so if Adaar happens to be a mage)

DAOSo...time for Orzammar and the endless Deep Roads...
After arriving at Orzammar it became clear that a king needed to be elected to gain the dwarves aid. At first, Liadan travelled to the Deep Roads and met Lord Dace on behalf of Bhelen, but after showing one of the promissory notes to Shaper Czibor she realized that Bhelen was a bit to shady for her taste, so she decided to help Harrowmont instead. In order to do that she won the Proving in his behalf, destroyed the Carta and their leader Jarvia and travelled to the Deep Roads so she could find Branka, a living Paragon. In the Deep Roads, the group fought darkspawn, found out how deeply obsessed and mad Branka had become (the Broodmother and Hespith`s tale was the stuff of nightmares), managed to pass Caridin`s traps and finally found the Anvil of the Void and Caridin himself. Caridin had much to say, both regarding the Anvil and Shale. Having to make a choice between helping Branka or Caridin, the wardens chose to ally with Caridin and destroy the Anvil. Before he died, Caridin forged a crown for Orzammar future king. Back in the Assembly the warden supported Harrowmont and he was declared king. Shale being the hero of the hour! (she was the one that ended up defeating the Broodmother, all my other characters died in the fight. And since this was the first time i took Shale to fight the Broodmother, i realized that the Broodmother can`t grab Shale or make any significant damage to her, which was nice. Of course Shale also doesn`t do much damage to the Broodmother, so that last bit of the fight took me a while to end )
And a screenshot after the fight with Branka.

And a screenshot after the fight with Branka. That first pic of Shale is pretty badass. You know, you never appreciate how good it is to have a golem in the party until you don't. Also, in all my gaming life, I've never been able to beat that broodmother without changing difficulty to easy.

And a screenshot after the fight with Branka. Yeah, if you have a character model which is not standard humanoid (i.e. dwarf/elf/human/qunari/genlock/hurlock) such as Shale, Dog or shapeshifter forms, they are immune to some of the nasty special moves. Shale can still be knocked prone though as I had to find out, while I was never able to do that to an ordinary golem; just managed to shove them back a bit.

Also, in all my gaming life, I've never been able to beat that broodmother without changing difficulty to easy.
I park everyone as far back as possible, tell them to stay put, and switch them all to ranged weapons. But I don't usually play on anything higher than Normal.

I'm a bit stucking deciding how my Inquisitor should deal with Sera during the Verchiel March quest.
I confess I've always done this quest without paying much attention to what is going on, like why are the "little people getting hurt" or who the hell was that guy who got shot with an arrow. Then I googled it a bit and now that I understand... I'm not sure why would anyone blame Sera for what happened.
The main point of the argument is that Harmond killed the guy who ratted him out (as well as others, presumably) and this is Sera's fault for getting them involved. But the problem with this is that 1: This is like blaming the victim for upsetting the abuser and 2: The peasants had to tell someone who would help them.
At the same time... I don't really like the dialogue options, because it is either be super strict or be super careless and pay no mind to how things went.

DAOThe wardens travelled to a few places: - The Spoiled Princess inn, to help Oghren make up with his old lover; - Ostagar, where they retrieved Cailan`s weapons and armor and gave him a proper funeral; - The Korcari Wilds, where they defeated Flemeth on behalf of Morrigan; - Soldier`s Peak, where they helped Levi Dryden to uncover the truth about Sophia Dryden and her rebellion (they killed the possessed Sophia and allowed Avernus to continue his experiments in ethical ways). - Cadash Thaig, where they helped Shale remember her past; - And then Redcliffe. When they arrived at Redcliffe they`ve discovered that the village is under siege by undead creatures and being attacked every night. After meeting Bann Teagan, they have agreed to help the villagers against these creatures attack. When dawn arrived, the battle was finished and everyone had survived. Through a secret passage in the windmill, they managed to enter Redcliffe Castle, only to discover that the source of the attacks was Connor, the arl`s son, who was possessed by a demon, a fact that the arlessa hadn`t mention before. The wardens decided to get help from the mages and Jowan was the one that was sent to the Fade to save Connor from the desire demon, as a way to redeem himself for his part in poisoning the Arl. Before leaving Redcliffe Sten got his missing sword back and while in the camp they survived an ambush by the Darkspawn. The battle with Flemeth: Time to mourn those that didn`t survived:

Made a short test run to try out my female Adaar
Things I found out during said try out:
- She looks amazing in this armor (it's a mod that replaces the starter armor with the multiplayer reaver armor), plus it has no Qun symbols which wouldn't make sense for her anyway - I have to get used to Sumalee's (American) voice...I'm used to Alix (British) - my girl towers over everyone and it's amazing
...Still not completely sure if I want to use her or my elf girl, but I'll decide on that when I get there

There is a minor roleplay conflict I've been having lately. I play my Dalish Inquisitor as someone who is supposedly humble, but the speech I picked at Skyhold was "I'm an elf fighting for Thedas and I will be an ambassador (not literally, I know)". It is a rather bold thing to say. Is it possible to be humble and have ambitious goals? I know this was a few days ago, but here are my thoughts (I don't remember the exact wording either): - "I'm an elf..." - - simple fact.
- "...fighting for Thedas" - both fact and humble. Whether or not you chose the role, it is what it is. And everybody in the Inquisition is fighting for Thedas in various capacities.
- "I will be an ambassador" - You didn't put yourself in this position. However, you recognize that relations between your people and humans aren't great and you are in a position to hopefully change this in at least a small way. In fact, you are de facto an ambassador (by virtue of being Inquisitor), whether you want to be or not. I can see this as you acknowledging that fact and you accepting it as on opportunity to hopefully change human perspective. Is it an ambitious goal to want things to be better for your people? If you are put in this position, perhaps you are humbly accepting this as a duty?
Those are my quick thoughts on the subject. I suppose the short answer is 'yes.'

DAOThe wardens travelled to Denerim in search of brother Genitivi. They were greeted by his assistant Weylon, who told them that brother Genitivi was missing and that a group of Redcliffe knights went look for him in Lake Calenhad Docks. But as soon as they arrived at the docks they were ambushed by a group of cultists, a set up arranged by the suspicious assistant. Back at Genitivi´s home, they were attacked by the fake Weylon, discovered the real Weylon`s corpse and found some notes that led them to travel to the small village of Haven.
Haven turned out to be a strange and creepy village (the kid reciting the strange poem always manages to creep me out). The people of Haven were cultists that murdered the Redcliffe knights and hold brother Genitivi captive. Together with Genitivi they entered the nearby Ruined Temple in search of the Urn of Sacred Ashes. They ventured through the temple, fought the cultists until they met and defeated Kolgrim, the leader of the cult, and learned that the cultists believed a High Dragon was Andraste reborn. Liadan and her companions fought and killed the High Dragon and entered the Gauntlet, passed all trials, reached the Urn and took a small pinch of the Ashes. Genitivi returned to Denerim, with the intention to reveal the discovery to the Chantry, and the wardens travelled to Redcliffe Castle to heal the Arl with the Ashes. The Arl called for the Landsmeet and currently they are in Denerim, at the Arl`s estate. In the caverns: The battle with the High Dragon: And some romance:

It is a silly thing, but just a little lore question: In the game, mages can make objects levitate to close a tunnel or fix a bridge. So I was thinking... although this ability is limited to specific situations due to gameplay mechanics, is your mage technically capable of using that skill to manipulate any objects with magic?
I'm asking because I'm trying to decide what hairstyle my female Lavellan will have when I get to Trespasser, and I want it to be a style that can be maintained by someone who is missing an arm. BUT, that limitation might be worked around if you could... move your hair with energy instead of your hands.
Is that technically doable?

"Sera: Alright, why “Buttercup”? Varric: You seem the type. Or exactly not the type. I forget how these things are supposed to work sometimes. Sera: You don’t forget anything. Varric: And you noticed! That’s why you’re Buttercup."
To this day, I still have no idea what that means.

Let it be known that default female Hawke looks better than 99% of player made FHawkes, including modded. We simply can't touch that glory.

DAOArl Eamon called for a Landsmeet and the wardens travelled to Denerim. Queen Anora was allegedly kidnaped by Arl Howe, and trap or not, the wardens went to the Arl`s palace. Howe was not happy to see them, attacked them and was defeated and killed, allowing Liadan to finally avenge her family. The queen was rescued but the wardens were arrested and taken to Fort Drakon. They both manage to escape by their own means. Next they went to the Alienage and discovered that Loghain had a deal with Tevinter slavers, allowing them to take the elves into slavery. The wardens killed the magister responsable and freed the remaining elves. At the Landsmeet, they secured the majority of the nobles support, even after Anora went against her word and betrayed them, and a duel was fought between Liadan and Loghain. She won the duel and Alistair executed Loghain for his crimes. Alistair was proclaimed king, with the warden as his consort, and Anora was locked in the tower. And then the last battle began. They gathered all their allies and marched to Denerim, killed the generals in all the districts and managed to arrive at the top of Ford Drakon to fight the Archdemon. Liadan Cousland gave the killing blow to the Archdemon and survived to tell the tale, a consequence of Morringan`s dark ritual with Alistair. And then it was over, the Blight was ended, the new king was crowned and six months later the Hero of Ferelden married king Alistair. I don`t think i`ll play Awakening and the last 2 dlcs this time, i`m not in the mood for it, and i still haven`t decide if i`ll play DA2 right away or if i`ll play another game first. Decisions, decisions...
