The journey of Warden Commander Drako Amell, The Hero of Ferelden: (DA:O, DA:A, and Witch hunt) The Chronicles of Tyros Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall: The Journey continues, A letter from Knight Commander Meredith arrived today. Didn't say much other than she wanted a meeting with me. Preparations for leaving the city are going well. Renovations to the ship will be completed in about a week. I'm stocking up on supplies and equipment. Isabella is working on building up a crew that aren't completely useless. Varric got a fair bid on the mine yesterday as well. The auction for the mine doesn't start for a while though. I still have plenty of time. The only curious thing is that well... While I have several "fans" in the city, Meredith not one of them. I dare say the woman hates me, so why such a polite invitation? Could be a trap, but I doubt it. She a very "stab you in the face" type of person. If she does decide to make a move against me, I'll see it coming... Sure as I am of that, I'm not going to the Gallows alone. I bring Aveline along. Whatever is important enough for the Knight Commander to seek outside help for, surely the Guard Captain should be made aware of it as well... and Aveline isn't someone Meredith can just make disappear... ...The meeting with Meredith wasn't what I feared. Some of the mages have escaped. Nothing new there, but Meredith wants my help in tracking them down in hopes that it will bring me over to her side in her cold war with Orsino. I've seen plenty of her escaped mages over the years. Some turn to demons, others just want to live out from Templar cruelty. I don't know what these few escapees are suppose to prove, but I agree to track them down. Aveline returns to the Keep to alert her men of the potential danger. I round up my Fenris, Varric, and even convince Anders to come along for this. If he is so certain that there is nothing but innocents fleeing the Circle then this will prove him right. If Meredith is correct then perhaps it will turn him from whatever madness he is planning... ...Our first step is the Alienage. We meet with the spouse of one of the escaped mages. She didn't know where he was, but he said he would return for her at night fall. She said that something about him frightened her. We go to look for the others in the mean time. Dark Town was the next nearest lead. We pick up the mage's trail and of course it leads into the sewers... Hate the blighted sewers... I don't know about the other mages, but this one had become a full abomination bent on ruling the city. It was a desire demon if I had to guess from the things it said. Anders blamed her corruption on the Templars. As though she was responsible for nothing. Perhaps his hatred of the Circle is that deep. Or perhaps Justice is preventing him from seeing it any other way... Whatever the case, we still have two more mages to track down... ...We return to the Alienage and wait for night fall. We arrive just as Huon shows himself. Not an abomination. Just a blood mage driven mad. He killed his own wife in cold blood and smiled while he did it. He summoned a dozen demons through the veil to attack us. Whatever this elf was planning before, it had to end here before more innocent people die. Anders said nothing. This one was not so easy to discard blame for. We find a guardsman and explain what happened before setting out to find our last missing mage. The De Lanet's... Orliasians. This is going to give me a headache I just know it... ...Annoying as they were, the De Lanset's were helpful. Their boy was spending his freedom in the Hanged Man. I was certain this boy was just a fool and no threat to anyone, but when we left the De Lancet's we were met by a number of Blood mages who attacked on sight. That put my guard back up... Until I found Emile. This poor fool cannot function outside of the Circle. I don't know where those blood mages came from at his parents home, but this idiot didn't send them. He actually ran from the Circle so he could get laid in Low Town... Insane. The Templars might give him the brand for this stunt... I allow him to... fulfill his fantasy before taking him back. He was possibly the single most pathetic creature I have ever come across. Not sure who I feel more sorry for. Him or the girl who bed him... ...When we meet with Meredith again to report the events, she left Emile's fate to me. Kill him for running or let him return. The boy is an idiot. A danger only to himself. She took my word on it and spared him. I was hoping for a civil exit, but Anders, yes I brought Anders, had a little tantrum in the Knight Commanders office. He didn't learn a damn thing... I hadn't truly given up on him until that moment. Anders', or be it Justice's, absolutes could not be reasoned with. I didn't argue with him, I just got him out before he said or did something that got him killed. I took Anders back to his clinic and let him yell at me until he calmed down... Literally, He stood there and yelled at me for about an hour then hyper ventilated and had to sit down... ...Some days I think the Maker hates me... then their are days when I get to see a full grown demonically possessed man spaz out to the point of going cross eyed... So today wasn't a complete waste...

I just watched the DRAGON Age Seeker movie with Cassandra? Way better than I thought it'd be. Hadn't known it was timed as just after Kirkwall. Makes me a bit confused about how much time between the Chantry explosion and Inquisition. The way we talk to Cass about it, it was a thing that happened in her youth... eh, no?

It was only one line. Were there other bad events in Kirkwall? Found this on the movie Wiki: When Knight-Commander Martel mentions the events in Kirkwall, he refers to the rebellion in 9:21 Dragon (see Perrin Threnhold) rather than the Kirkwall Rebellion.[8] ... Reading more, I learn that Cass has been the right hand for two different Divines. Beatrix and Dorothea. Weird; now I wonder where Cassandra was that Evangeline needed to be Dorothea's body guard in Asunder.

A slave revolt overthrew the Tewinter rulers. It was threatened by the Fourth Blight. The Qunari invaded and controlled the city for four years. The Orlesians liberated it. Kirkwall rebelled against Orlesian rule and gained independence. Viscount Perrin Threnhold closed off sea lanes and charged Orlesian ships exorbitant fess. Devine Beatrix III ordered Kirkwall templars to force open the sea lanes. Perrin attempted t expel the templars, the KC was killed. Meredith led some templars to arrest Perrin, jailed and stripped him of his title. Meredith was appointed KC and she in turn appointed the next viscount.

I cleared out the Hissing Wastes, killed the Sandy Howler, located all of the mosaic pieces and started JoH. In the Frostback Basin I went to the Lady's Rest and got Aegis of the Rift then received all of the Avvar quests, found Storvacker, and started Jawbreaker.

DAO Well Garrus was in Denerim and finished Zev's arc with the Talisen ambush. Then took care of Rescue the Queen. I killed Cathrien then finished the rest of the guys at the exit. But instead of going out the door I went into the hall to trigger all the extra guys so they would kill me and I could do the Escape mission. Did that, then went to the Pearl and had some fun with Isabela. Went to Eamon's and then took care of dialogue. Then I went to handle Gaxkang. Solo character w/ only 34% magic resist is sort of crappy in some ways, but at least his Revenant form couldn't hit me very often at all. Used greater spirit and ice resists at the beginning and then tried to keep my health topped up since chains of disabling junk with CoM could be lethal. Took a couple tries, and he didn't have the courtesy to drop Fade Wall. Previous post was in Lothering, so clearly I skipped over posting a few things.

Leonie (Orlesian WC):
Killed some broodmothers in Kal'Hirol Uncovered some sort of pissing contest between two factions of darkspawn Recruited Legion of the Dead member Sigrun as a Warden (haven't got to the Joining yet) Delved deep below Vigil's Keep to the Deep Roads and, with dwarfy help, sealed the way in (have to go back to raid the Avvar crypt) Met Oghren's ex-girlfriend after she showed up to read him the riot act Ran into an old acquaintance of Sigrun's, who was not very happy to see her Learned the location of a secret meeting for conspirators looking to overthrow her and then killed them all Back at the Vigil, avoided Varel as he called for her to spend a day in court (I exited the game rather than do that part today)

Guess I need to relearn using a twin dagger thief. I've played a mage for so long, I'm out of touch with having my character get their hands dirty in hand to hand fighting. My character died twice in the first fight in the Hinterlands.

The fighting animation is even more but it's so fun. (all the tentacles in the pics come from the sword ) As far as I understand it's mechanics, it slows enemies down (they get the slowed status) but I'm not sure what else it does, Qunari are immune to pretty much everything.

No Trials. I just suck at the moment. My previous games over the past year and a half have been mages. Sit back at a distance and throw your spells around and run away when someone gets too close. Just need to get back in the groove of melee fighting again.

Just need to get back in the groove of melee fighting again. I had the same problem after two mage play throughs. It was shocking to see my character laying like a noodle while I had to play warrior of the party (Blackwell) several times in the hinterlands. Crafted better armor, and started using leap away a ton and it helped a lot.

The journey of Warden Commander Drako Amell, The Hero of Ferelden: (DA:O, DA:A, and Witch hunt) The Chronicles of Tyros Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall: The Journey continues, Got a few letters from the Gallows today. One from Knight Commander Meredith's office, thanking me for my "services" the other day with some gold stuffed inside. The second from First Enchanter Orsino, asking me for help with a delicate matter regarding the mages. And a third letter from Knight Captain Cullen, seems someone has been trying to undermine Aveline's public image to get the Templars to force her out of office. I also got a letter from someone claiming to be King Alistair of Fereleden. I don't know what Orsino is worried about, but he should be directing his concerns to Meredith. That's one of the reasons things keep getting worse in this city. Those two refuse to cooperate... This matter of rumors about Aveline being spread trouble me though. Who would want her removed from office? By all accounts, she is doing a remarkable job as Guard Captain. I go to the Keep to alert Aveline and see if King Alistair really is there or if it's just some weird joke of Varric's... ...It was not a joke. King Alistair really was there and really did send for me. Sadly, Meredith arrived before I did and whatever plan he had, she blew up. Seems that they have heard of the troubles in Kirkwall all the way down in Denirum. King Alistair seemed like a good sort. Not the ass hat royals usually are. We traded a few words and he left to catch a ship back to Ferelden. I went to find Aveline. She was being... "encouraged" to step down by a Templar. She was having none of it though. Seems she hasn't heard the rumors going around about her either. When I explain Cullen's letter, she insists she and I go on a patrol at the docks tonight to address whether she is in fact "coddling her men". If she is coddling anyone, it will be HER man. Donnic is on patrol at the docks. One of the more dangerous areas of the city. I know Aveline too well to believe the rumors, but an eye witness accounting will be far more effective than "Oh Aveline? I know her. She's a tough one... Go Guard Captain. Yay."... ...It's dark by the time we get to the Docks and track down Donnic. He and his partner are neck deep in bandits. If you call this coddling, then your mother swaddled you in sand paper or something... Donnic gives me a run down of the daily course for a guardsman. Seems straight forward from my perspective. We went to the Gallows to call on Ser Cullen and go into greater detail about these rumors he's heard. Details of which he had few. The anonymous are always bravest where none can object. Cullen directs us to Low Town to find the source of these lies. The local Guardsman come clean about the old Guard Captain hiding out in Dark Town trying to raise a guard rebellion or some such nonsense. The active guard force refused to support him, but he has rallied the remains of the anti-Ferelden scum of the city. We had to fight our way through many of them to find Jven. He was in a full rant too. Aveline laid into him first with rhetoric, which caused some of his "Proud Marchers" to back down. Those that didn't joined the rest of the garbage that littered the ground. We get back to the Keep just before dawn. The Guards line up outside Aveline's office for the daily briefing. I leave her to her men and return home to get some much needed rest... ...I was woken by Orana about mid day. Seems Merrill had dropped by while I was sleeping and asked Orana to tell me when I got up to come see her. When I got to Merrill's, she started going on about her Eluvian still not working. She's done everything she can, but it's still not working. She wants to go back to the demon, which she still calls a spirit, to ask it for more "help". She has asked that I come along in case the demon possesses her. If that happens, I am suppose to kill Merrill... What's not to love about this plan? It's fool proof. "I'm going to summon a demon that might turn me into an abomination. If that should happen my good friend Hawke will cut off my head." Perfect... As moronic as this is, I can tell I won't be able to convince her not to try to go on her own, so I agree. We leave for the mountain... ...Amazingly, the clan is still in the mountains. I've never heard of Dalish staying in one spot for more than a couple years. They usually move to a place, set camp and only remain as long as it take to restock their supplies. Strange that they are still lingering about. The Keeper insists that there is some pressing business the clan still has here, but says nothing more. I think she is just holding out hope that Merrill will give up on the mirror, but even if she did could she really return as the clans First? Unlikely. We press up the mountain and fight through giant spiders, undead, and even a few drakes. For an extinct species, dragons show up an awful lot around here... ...At the top of the mountain we find the ruin were this demon is said to be locked away. And he seems to have been trapped in a rather strange idol. I sensed no demonic aura coming from it, but Merrill was certain that this is where the demon was being held. Can't blame it for wanting to escape. I wouldn't want to spend eternity if a statue of a four armed fat man either... The question remained, if it wasn't in the idol, then where did it go? A question that was soon answered when Marethari stepped out of the shadows. Fearing Merrill would release the demon, Marethari took the demon into herself instead. I thought the Keepers were suppose to be the smart ones?... We had to fight and kill Marethari. Matters were complicated even more when we exited. Half the clan was waiting at the cave entrance. I thought we would have to fight them, but I was able to talk them down. Merrill had seen enough of her family die for one day. I got her back to the city as quickly as I could... ...When we enter the gates I offered to walk her home, but she said she wanted to be alone. She wandered off and I went to the Hanged Man. Needed a drink after all of that. While I'm ordering, a bar maid comes up to me with a drink with a note under it from Varric inviting me to discuss a "personal matter". When I went to see what he wanted, he gave me a line about Bartrand's old house and someone saying it was haunted. Strange as it sounds, that was actually a relief. I was worried he was facing another "love child" come for the family business... It's been an issue... I was not in the mood. I'll gladly take ghosts any day... ...When we get to the mansion, it's quiet... too quiet. That feeling again. The Red Lyrium Idol's aura is still lingering here. It's in every room. Varric says he can hear a voice singing. Not a good sign. We pass by objects moving about on their own, ghostly figures running through the halls. Eventually we find a lone house maiden. She apparently has been in here for some time fleeing from these... things. She was scared out of her mind. She ran off when there was a heavy thud. Seems the thing she was hiding from was back... A ghostly Golem. A tiny piece of the Idol was projecting all sorts of weird shit from this golem to the objects moving to even pulling demons through the veil. It takes some doing, but we manage to disspell the aura and... "calm" the shard of the Idol. A temporary measure. It would be trouble if left alone. I was going to destroy it, but Varric insisted on keeping it. I didn't force the issue, though I probably should have. This is coming back to bite us I just know it... ...We split up after we give the house a good once over. I return home and hope I don't find my friend in the Hanged Man tomorrow curled up in a ball mumbling to himself about "my... precious". Orana brings me some stew and asked what was wrong, she has gotten pretty good at telling what mood I'm in. I explain the events of the evening and she starts playing a rather sad tune on her lute. I'm not sure what she played exactly, but it was... beautiful. Orana rarely leaves the estate on her own. A life time living as a slave will do that I guess. I try to get her out as often as I can. She likes to sit on the coast in the early morning as the gulls are flying in. I taught her to read a year after she started here. I think she's read every book in the library twice. Varric's Romance/Adventure novels are her favorites. She seems so simple and yet feels things very deeply. She's excited about leaving Kirkwall. I wasn't sure she would want to come with me, but I can't say I was exactly shocked. Isabella wants her in charge of the ship's galley. She'll have two people answering to her. I can't help but wonder how she will react to giving directions and not just taking them...

Selene Cadash is my fourth finished playthrough... Blackwall romance Maranni Lavellan is next in line, and she's all about dem Grey Wardens. Dorian Romancer (hopefully, pray that Cass will not snatch him away) William Trevelyan is just gettin' started. No news on the status of the Iron Bull romancer; she/her is not yet made (I need suggestions, thanks!)

Just finished my second playthrough of DA2 (with the same Hawke as the first PT because replacing her feels wrong >_> ) which glitched out so I never got the harvester or the conversation about Quentin. I had forgotten how creepy Meredith gets at the end. Open the spoiler for a gif. Um, let's get a closer look at Hawke's reaction there at the end! This...this isn't funny, Hawke. Quit smiling.I've also introduced my third Inquisitor to the blasted Hinterlands. I had created her a few weeks ago and just took her through the prologue at that time. She is my first dwarf and my first rogue, and will romance Iron Bull. I think she will probably go pro-templar, which is another first for me.

Only two didn't (Blackwall and Cullen romances did not support the Templars in my worldstate). Eh, the Templar Quest is overall better so that's why i usually do it...

Just enlisted Bull. I'm going to do something different with him and make him use sword and shield instead of two handed weapons like I've done in every play thru.
