I'm disappointed with the CC. Looks like we will have to take one of the face models and tweak it for our liking. Sigh, I was truly hoping for some next gen CC... But I can't say I wasn't expecting this. Unfortunately, the reason for a less "robust" CC is this. The CC programming has to also model a complimentary Alec and Sara Ryder from whatever we make in the CC. The only way to make them seem/look as if they are related is to limit the amount choice/flexibility we have in the CC. While I would have rather have had an awesome CC you run the risk of going the opposite way of people complaining, "damn, no one looks related!" "or, "here, check out my red-headed step bro/sisRyder and weirdo looking dadRyder." In Fallout 4 they implemented extensive customization and had no problems generating the appearance of protagonist's son from their looks. If they had soooo many problems they should have gone Dragon Age 2 route and changed family appearance based on Hawke skintone. I really can't think of any valid excuses why they didn't make DAI CC clone. Unfortunately, I haven't played either one of those games so since that's the case, you have a valid point. That was the only reason I could think of!

No complexion adjustments, I don't like "shiny face", they don't look 22, and I'm not super impressed with the very dark skin tones. It kind of looks ashy and weird. Not nearly as good as DAI. I'm really hoping things are different on launch day.

11 hair options for femRyder is too few! I'm a bit sad. But I'll live.
Also, no Rita Vrataski's hair! Capital sin right there!

I'm fine with it. There's still enough variety for me to make many different characters! I can understand why some are disappointed though. It won't affect my experience with the game too much. Overall, you can make some decent faces so I'm satisfied

Welcome to 2017, where Bioware's idea of an advanced character creator is the ability to put lipstick and blush on a guy.

Well, guess I'm not going to spend as much time in the CC as I thought. There seems to be even less customization than ME1.
No individual customization of: nose bridge, eyebrows, eye shape, complexion (skin tone only), eyebrows. Only eleven (11!) hairstyles. Only facial tattoos. No real beards for the guys. Scars with no texture, they look painted on.
Lots of clown makeup.
I think we're going to see a fair number of similar looking Ryders (barring crazy makeup), much like the OT, and completely unlike DAI. That's a shame, makes it harder to make a character that looks like the player, for starters. I'll find something acceptable, but I was hoping for something better than that.

I think this Character Creator has potential for some of the best looking Mass Effect protagonists yet. Why? Because the facility to download the face exists on an accompanying social site (perhaps that's the bit greyed out). It's looking likely that creating 'Coco the Clown' is relatively easy, but those with artistic talent should be able to make some nice looking Ryders. We may just be relying a little more on downloading a great looking Ryder than we first thought...

Ooookay. As a player who absolutely never plays the 'canon' character faces.
General Impression: I am not blown away by the CC - But I am not horribly disappointed either. There are some aspects I really enjoyed about it so far (without having hands on knowledge) and some I am disappointed in. Overall, not as good as I was hoping, but not as awful either. - I am hoping the reason the CC is not as stellar as some were hoping is because the extra resources/time went toward character companions and story/side content.
Likes - ( In my personal opinion)
- The hair moves, it's really noticeable on the longer female styles.
- The female hairstyles in general, are much better than I had anticipated. I did not expect long styles, and we have a few near shoulder length. I especially loved the wavy one. The male ones weren't bad, there are at least two that I really liked, and I am happy we can use the canon character hairstyles.
- The color wheel for eyes, and the options for hair color. I like the variety.
- The options with eyeliner and make-up in general, as well as the scars.
- I saw at least three of the preset faces (female) and at least two (male) that I liked, and that is a bonus for me. I usually am only able to find one and tend to stick to it. So this is good news for PTs beyond my first.
Dislikes -( My own personal opinions)
- The limited options regarding eye shape and nose shape. I'm not sure if it's because we can customize our twin or what, but I am sad this option is no longer available.
- Male Hairstyles - I'd have liked to see a bit more variety there. They aren't all bad (thank you Bioware for some longer options and not all weird buzz cuts with wonky hairlines), but some longer/edgier options would have been amazing. Maybe something like an undercut hairstyle or something along those lines.
- The tattoos. The options just aren't my style and are a bit too 'futuristic' for my tastes. I'd have like some other options, but either way, it's not a deal breaker for me.
- The lack of a skin complexion aspect. I love being able to give my characters freckles, esp the females. (my little self-insert thing) so that is unfortunate.
Anyway, that is just my own thoughts after watching the vids. Now just to wait and experience it first hand!

So, I don't know what anyone else thinks (all sarcasm intended).
But, no troll, no joke...
I love it. This might be by far and way the best character creator BioWare has ever done. I just do not know what to say about it but it has sort of a simple control where I think...for once...I can actually make a really good character. And yes you may not be able to mess too much with the nose per se but you can still have a lot of room to mess with the thing and create a very distinctive looking nose, and character, from good, to bad. The options are really varied. And yes you can't have a long arse beard but that runs into the same trouble with long arse hairs and the beard options were more then fifty shades of stubble. You had some nice goatees and full on beard options in there.
And the music. My God that music is almost better then the ME 3 version. Just goes to show you, you should not rely on other people to form your opinions.

Dowloading a face won't make magically possible to change eye shape or eyebrows, nose shape. It's important stuff.

Ugh, very underwhelming. Was not expecting a step down from DAI- I figured we'd get something comparable at least. A good CC is one of the main draws for me. I'll never go default but I'm bummed by my limited options. Picking custom noses, brows, and eyes are pretty basic CC things nowadays and we don't even get that?? I never thought I'd get more options in an NBA 2k game than a BioWare game.

Argh. It´s impossible now to choose certain presets because you like the shape of the face, because either the nose, or the brows, or the eyes or the mouth will put one of. DA:I CC was fine! Why the hell didn´t they just take it?!

I just don't understand why they've done this. What if someone wanted to make a character that looks like them? What if they have head 8's nose but head 2's eyes? Why can't it be like the trilogy where you choose a preset but you can cycle through the eyes and noses...sorry, I've gone from being bewildered to actually mad.

Okay, so... uh... hmm... The hairstyles are pretty awful. There's like only one or two that I could even consider using. The CC seems to haven taken a big hit from the orbit. I wasn't expecting the worlds best Character Creation but this... I expected better than this. I can work with it, sure, but I can't say that I'm not disappointed. And even in CC the eyes look pretty lifeless. At least there's the one bright side to this; tweaking the eyebrows (what little you can) doesn't seem to make the forehead expand like a beach balloon like it did in DAI. The one good thing I can think of is the ability to make two toned hair.

...all these years, they never learn from The Sims?
Never would have thought I want modders to come up on how to make toggles for basic facial types which apparently we took for granted....
As for SWTOR comments, at least with the preset, they gave 30-50 different kinds of facial textures, make up, and you can adjust body types. What the frell is this?

What the hell?
Look, I'm the first in line to defend Bioware and I think they get an unnecessary amount of criticism sometimes. But what the fuck is this? We've had over ten years of being able to pick brow types, eyes shapes, nose types, face complexion, etc, why on earth remove those options? Those are the only kinds of options with the potential to make unique faces. God, I'm so dissappointed.

Seems to me from what I have seen, my BioWare favorite CCs are:
Mass Effect Andromeda's (from what we have seen actually have to get me hands on it to make the judgement)
DA Is( Yes I couldn't make the thing work too much, but the fine detail and control was appreciated...I guess...for those who wanted to do such things).
Mass Effect 2: (Preffered this one to 3 because 3 seemed to mess with your import forcing you to recreate)
Dragon Age Origins (probably the best in terms of pure options)
