Character Creator & Character Customization (Official Thread)

Do they have this pattern? I would pick this pattern.

I wasn't pleased with the CC because I had high expectations. I thought it would be DAI CC on steroids...But I was disappointed. The presets weren't all that great and the fact we cannot change noses,eyebrows and lips in each preset makes it all more limiting. DAI CC wasn't perfect but it was the only time I ever managed to create a character that actually looked like me ,that means DAI CC did something right.
I am afraid we will end up with Ryders looking way too similar. I already see a pattern, for example I see many people including myself liking Head 8 from the females. I totally see
1 or 2 popular presets of each gender being used widely while the others won't.

I was so excited when I saw the Asian character in one of the recent playthroughs. I thought, "Finally! Folks can make characters that actually look Asian. It's been one thing missing from so many games, and I know alot fans really wanted that! Bravo, Bioware!".

I was so thrilled, thinking how advanced the CC must now be. I thought about how awesome my Sarah Ryder would be once I got my hands on the game (cause I had no desire to play through as the default).

Then a saw the videos in this thread.

What...the...crap? Seriously? The only nice looking preset is the Asian girl. All the others look awful (in my opinion, of course).

No options for changing lip shape? Or eye shape? They finally get decent Asian eyes, but you then only get one mouth/nose option if you choose that?

There are decent features in the CC (ie, some of the lip shapes are rather nice), but you can't mix and match them. What gives? What is the point of this? To make daddy easier to base off of our created face? To make the races of our family easier to match up? Who cares about daddy Ryder? Who cares about race (my brother is adopted...family is family, folks). I care a whole hell of a lot more about my own character.

And eyebrows. They are such a key feature on a face. And we cannot change them. Some of the gal presets have monster eyebrows. Ugg!!!!

So it comes down to...do I want pretty lips, or pretty eyes, or pretty eyebrows? Because I sure as crap am not going to get all of them on the same face.

I am a girl. I want to play games as a good looking girl. I am not angry about romance options or NPC design or lifeless eyes or even the weird facial animations. I just wanted to play as a decent looking gal. That will not be possible in this game, from what I can see, unless as I play as the one female preset that looks OK. The others are pure crap.

I guess I'll just play as the default male Ryder. He looks OK...even though they did take his lovely original brown eyes and make them blue. Ugg! He has a better voice actor anyway (I can't stand vocal frying,, and the female voice actress occasionally does it). But damn it!

Not angry...it's just a game, after all. But I am pretty disappointed...

I can't believe how limited this is. For a game that could go 200+ hours with the character you create, I just expected more options.

I think I just realized why there are no Jaw aoptions aside from the chin itself. It's obvs. because of the full performance capture thing. The way faces have to animate when it is captured according to a real face needs certain proportions locked in place to work properly which is more restricted than having a fully algorithmic system.

If they HAVE to ask then...nvm sigh

This may be a surprise but Game devs..... not psychic. And in all honesty none of the reviewers/early accessers seem to have much of a problem with the cc. It seems only to have come up now. Mostly this board tbh as well

There are a lot of complaints about the CCer coming in but I have to say that after watching a few videos, there are quite a few very nice looking custom Ryders around. I'm not sure if it has the complete versatility a lot of you guys seem to want, but I believe the results at least look much better than I was expecting.

I normally just take the default but I may actually go custom this time.

The presets are unimpressive and the lack of customisation options seriously disappointing. Not good peeps. Not good.

To be fair...I think the reason it is coming up now is because we finally got to see the CC.  All playthroughs I have seen before today are the defaults. And this is the official CC board to discuss it, so it makes sense that folks come here to...well..discuss it.

The hair options are better than DAI, but not being able to customize a face sucks. There are a variety of presets/races that you can tweak (a little).  But there is no customization here except for make-up and tattoos. 

So when they ask what we want, I would say I want the ability to create my own character.  It does not have to be sliders, but I would like to be able to at least have different eye, eyebrow, lip, and nose options.

I am still buying the game, but for the very first time, I will just be playing the default.  I will be playing Sarah or Scott, instead of my own character.  It is disappointing from a role-playing perspective.
