yeah the most recent tweet I saw from him on the matter was him saying yes it has it because he asked the live support folks and they confirmed it. there may have been something more recent conflicting this of course tho that's even more concerning though yep

I'm also "Asian" IRL, and I don't see any difference in how generic the presets look. In fact, there's a number of blonde white girls at my school, and I can never remember their names. The reason I brought up Shepard and DA is that there's more to "being Asian" than just squinty eyes and high cheek bones, which is what the CC in those games seemed to interpret as "how to make an Asian." So good for you then? I don't even see a lot of white people in IRL (except for internet or going to a mall), let alone go to school with them. Heck, the last time I really talk to white people was last year when my british cousins visit me or when random tourists asking for directions. Mass Effect have good looking Asian characters although most of which are mostly women but I genuinely thought Kai Leng is handsome if he was without his mask. I really hate the weirdly curved downward monolid eyes in the ME trilogy but ME3 does include a couple hooded (non-buggy) eye sets that I love. Bioware also did Jade Empire and there are good looking Asian characters in that game. I have several favourite Male and Female preset in KOTOR, KOTOR2 and SWTOR with looks I considered as Asian. I don't play with custom Male Shepard as I find its very hard to customize to him look human. But I don't think the designated male/female presets even resemble each other and since customization matters in creating Alec Ryder's look, I really want the freedom to make both characters as my own rather than presets. But if you are happy with what the game offers, that's fine too.

When I finished the trial campaign I spent the last hour in CC just poking around and seeing what I can do. Didn't want to sit too much in CC at first because time was ticking. I found that it's pretty easy to make an attractive female character but super hard to make an attractive male character. A big factor in this is skin complexion. Im just the opposite when it comes to spending time on the CC. I use this trial to find my right Ryder for release. I plan on playing ps4 pro mainly, so now I can just do trial and error. I've only played the first big mission. Haven't even seen the tempest or nomad. Think I've made 5 or 6 Ryders. My latest looks like this: Less than two hours left of the trial, so I'll have time to complete Horizon zero dawn before release (think there's only one story mission left and some side quests). For me CC is very important, so I spent almost 1 hour from the 10 to make the best looking Ryder. This is what I want to see in the next 100 game hours:

So I've seen about an hour of the game and really, CC is absolutely the WORST part of it. I literally love everything else, story, characters. But wow,...HOW just how do they miss the CC. It is odd because after 3 previous titles they should have know by now that, if there is one thing most fans are unanimous about, its the CC. But I guess it isn't totally suprising with all the people leaving the company.

Am I the only one who would have preferred face piercings and implants over these odd tattoos. I feel like some of the makeup is cool but the tattoos? Who wants a permanent choker necklace? I'd love to have a septum ring or some neon bars somewhere instead. Maybe some cool Sylens stuff going on? I know its a stupid comment compared to the WAY more serious issues (The biggest being the features all being tied to a preset.) I really don't understand how they thought that the cc was acceptable for a 2017 role playing game. The hair seems to be an improvement but then they gender gated it, which is lame.

If Alec is only based on what preset we use Bioware should just let ut choose which to go with instead (sure it could be considered a minor spoiler letting us know that our father is in the game, but that info is also all over the marketing material). I've shared my latest sis Ryder (see top of previous page) and I went with default Scott. Here's the father: He looks cool and all, but I can't really see any family resemblance.

I'm fairly certain Alec is always just an older version of the Scott preset of the number you chose, even if you chose sis!ryder. Because I have an Alec that doesn't really look like Sara but does look like the Scott preset of the same number (so I used preset 9 for sara, and dad looks like scott preset 9, even though I used default scott). And when I tried to make a male ryder, his dad looked like an older version of his preset as well. I'd have to go through all the faces to be sure, but that's what I think now. So yes, they should just have let us customise dad as well. Maybe if you customise both twins and pick a scott preset you think looks related to the sara preset you want to use you will end up with a dad who looks more related to ryder even if you use sara?

I think I'm gonna have to remake my Ryder. It's not her that's the problem, it's her dad. He looks nothing like her... and it's driving me crazy. I probably chose the wrong preset? (don't remember which one I chose tho)

First, let me say thank you for all the hard work that the BioWare team has put into this game. I really appreciate the fresh perspective. With that being said, I have a few constructive criticisms to share. I hope that this gets read and taken into consideration. For me, many things can be brushed aside, from certain questionable facial animations to other, humorous, game-play bugs. These things can be overlooked and don’t generally ruin much for me, as a player. The one thing I cannot let slide is the character creation system. The face of a game protagonist, especially those that can be customized, is the very heart and soul of connecting a player to said character, and by extension, the game itself. For a game company that promotes heavy customization and player choice for several aspects of this particular game, I cannot fathom why it was decided to make the facial creation system so elementary. If it was known that using facial scans was going to severely hamper the options and diversity of facial creation, it should have been abandoned. Don’t get me wrong, the entirety of the creator is not quite an abomination. There are a couple features that are adequate. The hair looks much better than previous games, although styles are still somewhat finite. Adding non-natural color hues was a nice touch, for those that want them. The mechanic that allows for the iris to be two-toned is also lovely. The addition of tattoos is most welcomed. Herein lies the problem: One can choose from a number of preset faces. This is fine. What is not fine, is the simple fact that we were not given the option to choose the shape of facial features for the preset faces. We are unable to choose the shape of eyebrows, eyes, nose, nor mouth. Choosing specific shapes and then tweaking them further is the very core of creating a face that we connect to. Having sliders to only adjust placement of height, width, and depth of certain features is mind boggling. What will result are innumerable Ryders that may vary to some degree, but at the end of the day will remain quite similar in appearance. Cookie cutter characters are not what we signed up for. This needs addressed and it needs addressed in a timely fashion. It needs to be introduced in a way that does not make one completely start the game from the beginning when it is introduced. For example, if a player has 90 hours in the game, they will not want to start over to create a face that they really wanted from the beginning. That is unacceptable and unfair to ask of any player. I have a suggestion [hopefully it is within the realm of possibilities]. Revamp the character creator and introduce it in a way that the player can access it in game and not lose progress, only change appearance. Something akin to Fallout 4’s plastic surgeon or Inquisition’s “The Black Emporium” via a Nexus or hub area shop, Tempest upgrade, hell, even by way of an unsavory character performing experimental procedures in a dimly lit cave, off a beaten path— get this feature in, and get it in as soon as possible. It will please the masses immeasurably and remove the bitter taste from their mouths. Improvements needed: MOST IMPORTANTLY: Option to choose eyebrow, eye, nose and mouth shape, and then be able to tweak it further via more sliders. Previously mentioned sliders include: Brow thickness, tilt, & color Eye size, depth, tilt Nose bridge height & tip adjustment Mouth fullness, corner tilt, width, over/underbite Skin complexionRange of ages, more varied skin tones, more believable scars, less shiny- it looks lubed up with petroleum jelly lol. Makeup [more natural options] “traditional” eyeliner, lipstick, & blush options, not more abstract options like digital camouflage lipsticks, Clockwork Orange eyeliners, or Imperator Furiosa eyeshadow et cetera Tattoos [love that this was added, but the options are underwhelming] Take notes from Dragon Age or Skyrim. Make them more interesting and robust. The pixalated stuff around the eyes and face midline is strange and out of place, even if set in the future. Give option to be on both sides, as well as only left or right side. Hair [Hair is looks/moves nicely, but need more styles.] Allow both genders access to all hairstyles Mohawks & fauxhawks would be nice Really cool braided styles [think Lagertha or Ragnar, from Vikings] Half shaved or sides buzzed with longer top A few highlights, lowlights, or more depth in general [ie not so flat] If only one section of the above list can be improved upon, please choose to introduce facial feature shape choice. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to playing the game in its entirety, hopefully with a Ryder that is as aesthetically pleasing to me as possible. well said!! I agree with all of this. CC is HUGELY important to me. In fact, it's one reason why I like Bioware games and open-world Bethesda games. The chance to create my own protagonist the way I want him/her to look. And, in the case of Bioware games, the chance to define my character and have meaningful relationships with my squadmates/companions. If I wanted to play as a preset protag, I'd play one of the countless many other games out there. When I play a Bioware game, I want to create my own character. I have my preorder all paid off and I was looking forward to getting this next Tuesday and diving right into CC to start creating my custom Ryder. Normally, in Bioware games, I prefer to create female characters ( even though I'm male ). However, with the limited CC in this game, it looks like I'll essentially be forced to play as default Ryder or play as Scott Ryder. And that's not how I originally planned on playing this. I may even skip the game and wait until the CC is fixed with patches. Because I'm sure as heck not going to sink multiple hours with my character only to have to start over when the improved CC gets released. And yeah, they do need to include an in-game mechanic like the Black Emporium Mirror to let us change existing characters.

The CC is a downgrade in options, no doubt about that. But I made a Ryder I really liked in like...10 minutes ? It's a big trade off that not everyone is happy with, I know. But I kinda like being able to easily make a good looking character. Even if I have less options. This is just it. We now have high quality presets, you can actually make them look like people you know, it's kind of eery. We have hair that moves with strands and wonderful texturing. We have real discernable ethnicities (though there's that dad/mom bug...). BUT it seems to have come at the cost of fewer options all around, and only a few sliders per preset to 'customize' them. I hate to eat my words a bit, but damn, color me disappointed. I can still make a great looking Ryder, however my Inquisitor was far superior. At least I could pick her brows and skin texture. I'm not sure why these are not also options available in ME it would have not have taken a lot of space in resources. You took the color wheel from DAI why not everything else but spacey? That's seriously all we wanted. They used face scans, and the trade off of that, along with the all around loss of options, is that inevitably just about everyone's custom Ryder isn't going to be all that unique. You thought you were just a twin? Try quadruplets, or worse. Statistically, a lot of people rolled with Default Shep and are likely to do the same with Ryder, but it still feels like a bit of a kick to the teeth. Many of the presets are beautiful, if animated a bit weirdly... I just miss being able to insert my personal touch.

All I really want is to have a bald and epically bearded Ryder.
However, I wouldn't mind a Daddy customization and few more facial construct sliders.
Would have loved a taller and more muscular build as well but eh.

I heard on one of Ability Drain's youtube vids, that at one point, they said we could customize Dad Ryder.
obviously, that got scrapped at some point, but they should have kept it. or at least let us choose from the various preset Alec's.
cuz the current system is just too restrictive and Alec doesn't even really change to match what changes you make to your character, other than eye color it seems.
Like, I've seen quite a few female Ryders based on preset #9 with somewhat lighter skin tones. in some cases, the character could almost pass as being caucasian/white. However, by using Preset #9, you're stuck with an african/black looking Alec, and his skin tone doesn't even change to match your Ryder's.

All I really want is to have a bald and epically bearded Ryder. However, I wouldn't mind a Daddy customization and few more facial construct sliders. Would have loved a taller and more muscular build as well but eh. Yeah, the bald head is terrible. Way too much stubble. I wish the goatee was a little fuller was well and less stubbly.
