Set up: - Location: Omega (starting in Afterlife)
- Timeline: 2185 (Pre-Shepard. Pre-Plague. Pre-Archangel. Pre-Morinth)
- Formality: Tutorial (Character headers or names on posts - use of OOC 'Out Of Character' tutorial encouraged)
- Story Setup: Sally is hiring for a job. He needs two or three hired guns.
Sally brushed the dust off his omnitool and fitted it to his wrist. Finally some action. His contact in Afterlife assured him that this time he would make some serious credits. Exiting the docking bay he headed to the doors of Afterlife. Luckily there was no lineup and that insufferably slow elcor was not about. Heading in he was blasted by the sound of loud music and smell of alcohol. He wrinkled his nose in disgust. He spotted Larry sitting at a table. Larry saw him and waved him over. [Larry is an npc that will only exist for a short time in my posts] " Hello Human" He greeted Larry. he could use his name, but calling the human 'human' amused him for some reason. "I told you, it's Larry." Larry shook his head. "About time you showed up, do you want this job or not." Humans talked slow. not as bad as Elcor, but still. Finally he finished, "Sorry I'm late, friend. What have you got?" Larry grumbled, but continued. "See, this manifest. The shipment is being transferred, it ill be unguarded for short time, prime opportunity for you to swoop in and grab it. " Sally studied the manifest carefully. He was not familiar with the dock. He would have to case it first, which meant gaining access. It was in Black Sun territory, so he'd need to find some hired muscle. or someone he could charm into helping. "You gonna need a patsy for this?" Larry grinned "Patsy is such an ugly word I prefer associate." Sally laughed. Larry opened his omnitool. "There, I've set up a help wanted ad on the Omega extranet. You'll probably get a few 'associates' pretty quickly." [OOC Tagging smilesja - this is establishig that Smiles is the next poster. he will tag SofaJockey in his post. I've set up a hook to get others in. The next characters can find the extranet ad and approach Sal for a job.]

Justice snorted at all of the thugs that inhabited Omega. Omega was a place of thieves and whores who harass the innocent and weak in order to gain power. It even saddened Justice to see his brothers engage in such things. There was no honor or glory in such activities, these Krogan traitors has lost their way. "All thanks to the Genophage." Justice thought bitterly as he saw a human get harassed by his fellow brethrens. Normally a Krogan wouldn't be concerned about other races, but years of exploring the galaxy has softened Justice's stance on them. Well except the Turians since they played a huge role in the extermination of his species. All of the people were scared out of their wits as a Krogan entered the club known as Afterlife. Justice didn't like taking jobs from thugs, but sometimes you got to do it especially if you want to get off this rock. Justice entered the club where he spotted a human and a Salarian talking "You'll probably get a few 'associates' pretty quickly." the person said. Justice heard of a job offer that paid good credits, so he might as well do it so he can continue wander the galaxy and find out who caused his clan to be destroyed. "Hi." Justice said bluntly.

Delan's trading business was going poorly. The Elcor down at 'Harrot's Emporium' seemed to have a knack for undercutting other merchants, so 'Bork's Bargains' were staying largely unpurchased. Not that Delan was dreadfully disappointed, the trip to Omega was in part a gamble on stumbling over some excitement that Delan's respectable trading family would have shuddered at. A mysterious extranet ad teasing 'help wanted' had led Delan through the intimidating door of 'Afterlife' and it's thumping dance beat. Beads of nervous sweat might have formed on the Volus' skin had his pressure suit not evaporated it so efficiently. The gyrating Asari were of no interest to Delan, but a small group at a nearby table looked to be what he was looking for: A Salarian and an Earthclan were looking up at a Krogan who had just walked up to their table. Not to be beaten to a job opportunity, Delan strode up (as much as Volus can stride) and made his pitch: "You're the Salarian looking for expert help? (kss)" Delan stated more than asked. "Well, I'm the help you're looking for. (kss)" Delan's resolute expression was rather lost under his suit as he expectantly stared up at the others...

"Hi" Sal looked up to see a large Krogan, well armed at that. "Yes? Are you here about the job posting?" As an aside to Larry he whispered "Those ads work fast!" Larry merely shrugged and looked up at the Krogan. Addressing the Krogan Sally said. I'm Sal, this is my associate Larry. We are - " He was interrupted by a Volus, of all things. "You're the Salarian looking for expert help? (kss)" Delan stated more than asked. "Well, I'm the help you're looking for. (kss)" "Indeed?" Sal asked, curious. "We are seeking armed help. What skills do you have? Combat or otherwise" Turning back to the Krogan, he asked "Maybe you can start. What is your name, and what sort of work are you hoping for?" [OOC Since you all arrived at once, Sal is trying to get the info from each in turn. ] Before Justice could respond, a Drell walked up and nodded. Another recruit, it would seem. "I heard you guys are looking for some armed help. As long as this does not involve slavery, I may be able to help you." The Drell said. Sal's eyes narrowed. "I assure you we do not deal in slaves. But we do welcome the help of a professional. Now, before we are interrupted again, please tell me about yourselves and what skills you have that I could use. Krogan, you first if you don't mind." "Yup" Justice is usually blunt to those he doesn't trust The Salarian introduced himself as "Sal". He looked like a typical Salarian: fast but squishy. Staring at the human whom Sal introduced as Larry, Justice walked towards a seat and sat next to Sal. "What sort of work are you hoping for?" Sal asked. Justice was about to answer but a Drell walked up behind them, another mercenary it seems? As Justice turned to the Drell "I heard you guys are looking for some armed help. As long as this does not involve slavery, I may be able to help you." The Drell said. "I assure you we do not deal in slaves. But we do welcome the help of a professional. Now, before we are interrupted again, please tell me about yourselves and what skills you have that I could use. Krogan, you first if you don't mind." Sal asked "My name is Justice." The Krogan stated in a blunt tone. Turning to the Drell and Larry Justice continued: "I seek type of work that will get me off this ancestor forsaken rock." Justice said. "I'm a Krogan with biotic abilities, I assume you know how valuable that is?" Justice then turned to Sal. "So what's the job?" [OOC SofaJockey up next...]

This conversation was not going well for the Volus. With other applicants for the mysterious 'help wanted' advert towering over him, the Volus felt overlooked (and not for the first time)... "I'm a Krogan with biotic abilities, I assume you know how valuable that is? So what's the job?" Delan heard from about 3 feet above his head. "Hold your quad, Krogan, we're still introducing ourselves here... (kss)" Delan interrupted. Turning to the Salarian (which only meant the Salarian could see Delan's head swivel over the table-top) Delan prepared his best bluster. His assault rifle skills were first rate, but admittedly gained in various shooting ranges rather than actual battle. "I have a sweet Avenger rifle that says I mean business (kss)" "And if anyone shoots back, my head will be well below where the danger is (kss)" "go on, let's make a deal, Salarian (kss)" Delan shuddered, as memories of his father's lectures on premature use of 'closing techniques' rang in his ears, but he took some comfort in having at least wedged himself into the conversation. Aleeta Cassian sat at the Afterlife bar, nursing the same drink for quite some time but keeping the bartender happily tipped enough that he didn't oust her for taking up space. She'd heard whispers that the club was a good place to keep an eye out for independent mercenary work, but she didn't need to be tipsy enough to let her guard down. She was always on the lookout for any Turian military that might have tracked her down and she didn't particularly favor facing a court-martial in her future if she got caught. From the corner of her eye, she saw a Salarian and human sitting at a table conversing. Not unusual. She scanned the rest of the room, casually observing and people-watching, taking occasional sips from her tumbler glass. Before long, her omnitool quietly chirped an alert to a job posting. Aleeta glanced through the help wanted ad. It seemed vague. Also not unusual for Omega. It also indicated the Salarian's table as the contact point. The Turian shifted her eyes to them again, remaining discreet in her surveillance. There were no obvious tells that they belonged to any of the bigger, more organized mercenary groups. Independents, then, she thought. Or amateurs. Maybe both.As she considered joining their table to chat, the human and Salarian were rather quickly joined in short order by an imposing Krogan, a Volus, and a Drell. The Krogan and Drell made sense. The Volus... not so much. But Aleeta had seen stranger things before, so she reserved judgment. The Cabal reconsidered joining the table now. While Afterlife was a common meeting ground for such things, the table was packed and it was gathering some attention from others in the club. Attention that might not be so welcome to the job poster, if those taking notice had any ties to rival mercenary groups. Independent merc work was always tricky - you didn't have the protection of a larger, more imposing group and that meant some folks might ease-drop on a job and take such information to the highest bidder, earning favor either by stealing the job or, even better, stopping it if it involved work in an organized group's territory. Discretion was key in Aleeta's mind. She ordered another drink from the bartender - whatever he might recommend a Salarian would enjoy. Then, she typed up a quick message onto a small, portable comm chip: "Greetings. I know how to discreetly blow shit up and I'm good at punching people in the face. Interested? Also, you're being watched. By more than just me. You may want to take your group to a back room or somewhere more discreet. I can provide a distraction if you'd like."She ejected the chip, placed it in the fold of a napkin, and called over one of the Asari waitresses. One she trusted from the past few months of interaction at Afterlife. "This drink is for the Salarian at the corner table," Aleeta informed, casting her golden eyes in their direction and ensuring the Asari saw which table. "Tell him to make sure he doesn't forget to use a napkin. The drink can be quite messy." She handed the napkin containing the comm chip to her liaison and watched the Salarian with an intense look. [OOC: Space Cowboy - you're up! Hope you don't mind me adding a little extra potential for excitement and that I didn't overstep any boundaries. I just figure this creates potential for other mercs to cause trouble or not; if Sal plugs the comm chip into his omnitool to get the message and believes her, she could then join their table with a proposal for taking the conversation elsewhere and a method for doing just that or, if he doesn't believe her or doesn't check the napkin for the chip, anything could happen or not happen at your discretion. Aleeta can be a little paranoid by nature, after all, but I think anyone who was a saboteur would be that way, heh. ]

"My name is Justice." The Krogan stated in a blunt tone. Turning to the Drell and Larry, Justice continued: "I seek type of work that will get me off this ancestor forsaken rock" Justice said. "I'm a Krogan with biotic abilities, I assume you know how valuable that is?" Yes, of course. Welcome aboard. As for what the job is, we'll get to that in a moment." "Hold your quad, Krogan, we're still introducing ourselves here... (kss)" Delan interrupted. " have a sweet Avenger rifle that says I mean business (kss)" "And if anyone shoots back, my head will be well below where the danger is (kss)" "go on, let's make a deal, Salarian (kss)" Sal regarded the Volus. He had bravado, he'd give him that. If nothing else he could provide a distraction. He nodded slowly. "Very well. We can discuss the details shortly." Turning to the Drell, he asked "And finally you. Tell me, what skills you have." Before the Drell could respond, an asari server approached and handed Sally an absurdly complicated cocktail. One that he recognised as a favourite amond some circles on SurKesh. heis eyes narrowed suspiciously. Even more so when the server insisted he take a spare napkin. He shook the napkin open, and a small chip fell into his lap. "One moment please" he told the group and fished up the fallen chip. It was a communication ship, text only. He fed it into his omni tool and angled it so only he could read it. "Greetings. I know how to discreetly blow shit up and I'm good at punching people in the face. Interested?
Also, you're being watched. By more than just me. You may want to take your group to a back room or somewhere more discreet. I can provide a distraction if you'd like."He was careful to casually glance around the bar. He soon caught sight of a female Turian who was watching him rather intently. Without making contact, he nodded, twice. He wondered what sort of distraction she would provide, and who else was watching. Finally, whose side was she really on? "Gentle people, it seems a more private venue is in order. We can continue there." Larry nodded. "I know a place, I'll scan it for bugs." [OOC Tagging DragonRacer Sorry, since Dragon Racer proposed this private meeting I think it might be best to have her go and then back to me, so that we can move to a private roon before returning to regular posting order. At the Salarian's signal, Aleeta grabbed her drink glass, casually strolled over to his table, and leaned down, resting her elbows on the tabletop and giving a quick glance to each member of the group. In a lowered voice, she said, "I might be interested in whatever this gig is, but I noticed two Turian Blue Suns boys near the bar who ALSO seemed interested. You don't look like Suns, so trust me when I say you don't want them interested." She surreptitiously glanced in that direction and noted the Turians giving their table longer and longer looks. Looking back to the Salarian, Aleeta continued, "We should make it look like this deal went bad. Have a good, old-fashioned staged bar fight. Some run away scared, and the fighters get thrown out by the bouncers. I even have a few little smoke bombs I can flick around to add to the confusion. We can reconvene somewhere a little more private then." The Cabal turned and looked the Drell up and down. "What about you, Red?" she asked. "You look scrappy. Wanna throw down for the audience?" As Justice was talking a Volus chimed in "Hold your quad, Krogan, we're still introducing ourselves here... (kss)" he said. "Don't tell what to do again Volus!" Justice spat. He usually has problem with other races, but Volus can sometimes be irritating with their stuck up personalities. The Volus who was named Delan introduced himself and what he contribute to the team. Volus weren't very good fighters, Justice hoped that Delan can be that exception. Just then, a female Turian walked in and ordered a drink from the bartender: "Greetings. I know how to discreetly blow shit up and I'm good at punching people in the face. Interested?" She asked Justice chuckled "I like her." Justice said still in a blunt tone. "She got quad unlike the Volus." "Also, you're being watched. By more than just me. You may want to take your group to a back room or somewhere more discreet. I can provide a distraction if you'd like." She added. A couple of Blue Suns approached the group. They did not look look like they were looking for a drink, Justice hated the Blue Suns for their harassment and murder. He didn't mind ripping them apart. Justice smirked and turned to Kato: "What about you Krogan? Do you like better the idea of a bar fight or an ambush?" After a few seconds of thinking, Justice replied: "It's doesn't matter to me: Bar fight or ambush, people will die. I'll do whatever." Turning to Sal Justice asked: "What about you?"

Delan could see the Drell, the Turian and the Krogan readying themselves for an altercation as two Turian Blue Suns mercs started heading towards their table. But he saw no decisions being made and the Volus had no interest in being the sauce in a Drell, Turian and Krogan sandwich if a fight broke out. "You want a reason for a fight? (kss)" grunted the Volus, keen to not be at the table for any longer than necessary, "Well here it is... (kss)" Then with more agilty than people usually associate with a Volus, because running away was something Delan has practiced, the Volus jogged around the back of the table, giving it a solid bump with his shoulders. The table juddered abruptly tipping the aforementioned cocktail over, and splashing the complicated contents over the Krogan's crotch. If anyone had been able to see through the Volus' pressure suit, they would have been able to make out a glance of satisfaction on the Volus' face as the Krogan's "She got quad unlike the Volus." jibe had not gone unnoticed by him, but any momentary pleasure was fleeting as Delan had a job to do. Now moving at some speed, Delan repeated his collisions at a second table, then a third, drinks spilling and annoyed patrons pushing backwards to avoid the clattering beverages. Without any look back to see what was happening behind him or at the Blue Suns thugs, the Volus was making an arc around the club, largely unseen because of his short stature, but triggering what he had heard 'Earthclan' refer to as a 'Mexican Wave'... And yes, Delan's heart was thumping because if his plan came off he would disappear into the crowd unnoticed, but the Volus' success record with 'plans' was not great as his family would regularly remind him, so this could equally go very badly. (OOC - hope that opens up some options - can't remember who's next...)

Aleeta grinned wickedly for a moment, trying to suppress a chuckle before quickly shifting the grin into a grimace to appear "in-character" for what now was most assuredly a bar fight. "I like this Volus," she said under her breath. Then, with a quick sleight of hand, she palmed a few small, round smoke bombs from out of a hidden compartment in her gauntlet. They were small enough to likely not be noticeable, especially in the current ruckus, and all they needed was a quick, hard impact to set them off with a popping sound. "GET BACK HERE, YOU LITTLE RAT!" she shouted at the Volus, then heaved her empty tumbler glass - along with a bomb ball - in Delan's general direction. As planned, it crashed on the floor in a relatively open area and black smoke began pouring out all over the club, inciting more surprised and panicked screams from the patrons. The Blue Suns Turians looked over at the chaos, seemingly torn about how to react. Good, Aleeta thought, narrowing her eyes and spinning around to face Kato. "And YOU!" she yelled. "Think you can stiff me on payment, you red-faced little frog?!" The Cabal threw a punch at Kato's head - nightshade blades still sheathed, of course - and purposely missed him by a narrow margin while letting another bomb ball fly. It crashed against the opposite wall and more black, obscuring smoke began to snake around the club's entrance hall. Aleeta then threw her right hand back again as if attempting to back-hand the Drell, again narrowly missing thanks to her purposely being off-base and Kato's own well-trained reflexes to dodge. A smoke bomb let loose against the ceiling thanks to the carried momentum of the swing. With the club now sufficiently smoking and filled with bodies running all over in confusion, Aleeta palmed the last bomb and looked over at the Krogan, opposite from her behind the up-ended table. The Cabal leapt over the table - letting the last smoke bomb smack against the floor as her feet left the ground - and attempted a flying tackle of Justice, figuring if any of the group could stop her momentum, it would be the giant wall of shaman. From there, she figured they should be able to escape relatively undetected in the chaos. [OOC: Space Cowboy - you're up!]

Blue suns. The 'rent a cop' of Omega, if you consider a rent a cop to be a dirty dealing organized gang of thugs. Justice smirked and turned to Kato: "What about you Krogan? Do you like better the idea of a bar fight or an ambush?" After a few seconds of thinking, Justice replied: "It's doesn't matter to me: Bar fight or ambush, people will die. I'll do whatever." Turning to Sal Justice asked: "What about you?" "Deaths would bring about more unwanted attention. Lets stick to bruises if we can." He was about to add more when the volus rushed off as if attempting to escape, bumping into several tables in his path. "Well, it seems the show has started" Sal said quietly. Aleeta attempted to strike the drell and threw smoke bombs after the fleeing volus. "Trying to cheat me with that fake ignot will you! " he shouted for the guards sake. He ducked around Aleeta as she launched herself at the krogan shaman and made to chase after the volus while Larry snuck out the back door. He soon lost sight of Delan, but that wasn't his real target. He weaved around the bar until he was out of sight of the Blue Suns and made his way out into a back alley. He soon found Larry's location. A small safehouse nearby. He joined the human and sent each of their new associates details of the meeting place. They just needed to wait for the others. "Deaths would bring about more unwanted attention. Lets stick to bruises if we can." Sal said. "Agreed" Justice got up from his seat and began following the group. All of a sudden the Volus: Delan began running away from the Blue Suns that were watching them. "Get back here coward!" Justice barked. It was no use, the Volus ran with surprising agility as the Turian: Aleeta armed smoke grenades to create a diversion. Then all of a sudden the Turian attempted to do a flying tackle towards Justice. "What are you doing?!" Justice yelled bewildered at Atleeta. Out of instinct, Justice grabbed the Turian, staring at her very awkwardly before dropping her on the ground. Taking advantage, Justice used the opportunity to escape, hoping to meet up with the others. As he was able to exit the bar, Justice waited for Sal and the others so they can meet Larry. Scared but determined, the Volus was moving at speed around the back of the Afterlife bar. Glancing between tables, Delan could see that the ripple of chaos that he had been trying to instigate had been overtaken by crashing tables and smoke bombs across the other side of the club. He briefly caught sight of the two Turian Blue Suns thugs who importantly weren't looking for him. As he slowed, his momentary satisfaction at not being chased down was interrupted by an Asari's guttural shout accompanied by the sight of the legs of an Earthclan patron flying over his head and crashing into tables not far away. Delan dropped to his knees (which admittedly didn't make much of a difference) and took a pause of breath (kss) to survey what he could see of the room and make his next move. Being an expert at running away, the Volus knew that the most effective way to run away is to not look as though you are in fact running away. Popping his head up (relatively speaking) he scooped up an abandoned cocktail from the adjacent table. The blue tinted drink sported a small figure of an Asari dancer, on a stick; Probably a Serris Ice Brandy if Delan recalled correctly, though the drink was just for show as now wasn't a time for drinking and in any case, Delan preferred drinks with a little more ammonia. Having also grabbed some half-eaten canapés, some type of small sea-creature popular in these parts of the Terminus systems, Delan started drifting toward Afterlife's back stairs, trying to look like someone who was taking their drinks and nibbles to another bar, rather than someone who was tryng to evade mercenaries. Once in the club's lower passages it was fairly easy to duck through the lower bar, dump his bland drink and uninviting sea-kill next to an unimpressed old Krogan, and stride out of Afterlife's lower exit into the trading district. Whatever the Salarian wanted doing must be easy after all this excitement he thought, glancing at Sal's recent message and headed for the address he'd been given. [OOC: DragonRacer next up)

As soon as Aleeta's feet hit the ground, the Krogan bid a hasty retreat. All for the best and according to plan, although the Turian remained curious as to how she'd actually match up if the two ever had to truly tussle. Likely, size would beat agility, but it would probably be a fun fight, nonetheless. Besides, getting a little roughed up always got the blood pumping. A quick survey of the room told the Cabal that most, if not all, members of their little ragtag group had slipped out. Meaning time for her to go. A pity, really, since she hadn't gotten to actually punch anybody, but she did get to throw smoke bombs and wreak havoc, so she could still label it a good time indeed. With the Blue Suns still distracted by which fight to join or break up, the Cabal quickly and silently slipped into the smoke obscuring the front entrance. Just like that, against all standard convention, she simply sprinted out of the front door of the club alongside a few other panicked patrons fleeing the scene. The Elcor bouncer looked equal parts concerned and confused, more used to keeping a large crowd of people orderly as they entered rather than as they left. Once outside, Aleeta slowed down to a casual stroll. Before long, her omnitool softly chimed with the Salarian's message. She made her way to the new meeting point and rapped a few knocks on the door. [OOC: GeneralXIV - you're up! ]

"Do you have the money?" asked the heavily armored mercenary. He was obviously trying to put on some kind of tough-guy voice. But Kalia had a hard time not to laugh at him for trying. She had a sip of her drink instead.[/p] "Well..." she began, taking a deep breath, "Thats an interesting story. Im currently in the process of uh..."
What could she say? How did she tell a man who obviously meant business that she hadnt got the money to pay him? He had a pistol holster on his waist and he had a reputation for not being the nicest guy in the world, so she didnt want to upset him.
"Er... relocating some financial assets," Kalia finished. She looked up at him, hoping he would accept her excuse, or fall victim to her deceitful puppy dog eyes.
"You mean stealing," he grunted.
"Well, yes, but that doesnt really matter to you, does it?" she shrugged her shoulders slightly, "I mean, it isnt like you care where my money comes from... right? Right?"
"Be here tomorrow. Or a hit squad will be sent after you."
"Yeah, yeah, sure," she replied dismissively, "Ill have the money, I promise."
Looking back, stealing from a guy who had a lot of influence when it came to a street gang on Omega was not the best plan. And that was when Afterlife seemed to explode into chaos. The mercenary turned around at the commotion. Black smoke leaked from grenades fired around the club, while patrons started to fight. She saw the blue glow of biotics flaring, and a Turian trying to tackle a Krogan.
It was all very confusing.
She slipped a breather mask over her face so she didnt end up coughing in the smoke, and pulled her hood over her head. She used the distraction to hit the mercenary very hard in the head with her drinking glass. He crumpled to the ground.
Kalia instantly regretted doing that. But she could always blame someone else. There were enough people around to deny all knowledge of it. She could even say that she saved his life. Yes, thats what she would do if he came around and started accusing her of things.
She knelt next to him, taking his gun and a communicator that he had in his ear. She could sell them if she found a buyer, a merchant maybe. Kalia slipped the stolen items into a hidden pocket built into her clothing, before realizing that she should probably start escaping from Afterlife. With the way things were heading, it was just going to be a matter of time before someone was killed. And it wasnt going to be her, that was sure.
She drew her M-11 Suppressor and started to walk towards the exit. She engaged her tactical cloak and slipped into invisibility, dodging around the fighting people around her, avoiding thrown glasses and spilt drinks.
It took her longer than she would have liked to find the exit, and her ears immediately felt better to get away from the music as soon as she stepped through the smoke around the door.
After passing the Elcor bouncer, her eyes fixed on the Turian who, she suspected, had caused it all. Or at least had decided to tackle a Krogan. She decided to trail her. She needed some money, and someone crazy enough to tackle a Krogan would be easy for her to steal from, as they were probably delusional. Like taking candy from a baby. She hoped.

Larry closed the drapes on the windows and dimmed the lights, in wait for their crew. Finally everyone arrived. Sally looked over each of them. "Sorry for the interruption. I don't believe we got a proper introduction from our Drell and Turian associates. Please go over your skils again. " [OOC just continuing the conversation that got interrupted! ] "Aleeta, thank you for your alertness. You've saved us some trouble. Now, this is a big group, but this will be a big score. Here's the plan." Larry handed him a datapad, and then left the room. "Larry will be our strategist. My plan is to steal a valuable item from the Black Suns as they attemot to ship it off world. The black suns are a scum bag gang specializing in drugs and slavery, so I hope everyone is on board with hitting them." He looked around for dissenters. "Now, the job is simple. The items will be delivered in crates to a dock that Larry will reveal later. There will be a delay while the shipment sits and waits for the crew who will take it away. The plan is to break into the docking area and steal the shipment. It's reportedly full of Eezo and other trinkets that are illegal in council space." "Does anyone have any questions or concerns? Does anyone have any special skills they can offer to aid in this endevour?" he waits for replies. [OOC Tagging @tzeenchianapostrophe Kalia will be joining this meeting on her next turn ]

Justice sighed heavily, "what a mess." he said. Justice and the others made it to Larry's hideout. The Krogan Shaman was starting to become impatient, all he wants is to get this job done already! With them nearly getting attacked this job better be worth it. Sal requested a proper introduction from Kato and Aleeta. As they introduced themselves, Justice nodded his head impressed by their skill. "As for my training, my past is my own and isn't something I tend to share often, but suffice it to say that combat isn't a stranger for me." Kato said as he showed off his pistols. "I understand." Justice replied "Sometimes the past is best left to buried, forgotten......" The Krogan fell silent as flashes of the destruction of his clan began to overwhelm his mind: Explosions, children screaming...... Justice squeezed his eyes tight in an effort to forget about that painful memory. As Larry handed Sal the datapad Sal explained the mission: "Larry will be our strategist. My plan is to steal a valuable item from the Black Suns as they attemot to ship it off world. The black suns are a scum bag gang specializing in drugs and slavery, so I hope everyone is on board with hitting them." "I'm in." Justice said "I expect to be well paid though." Sal continued: "Now, the job is simple. The items will be delivered in crates to a dock that Larry will reveal later. There will be a delay while the shipment sits and waits for the crew who will take it away. The plan is to break into the docking area and steal the shipment. It's reportedly full of Eezo and other trinkets that are illegal in council space." "Eezo huh? Better be careful, you'll most likely die rather than gain biotic powers." Justice explained. "Does anyone have any questions or concerns? Does anyone have any special skills they can offer to aid in this endevour?" Sal asked. Justice though it over for a few minutes. This seemed to be an easy enough mission, and now Eezo is involved It'll make it much simpler. Since he has a knack of sniffing out Eezo since he was younger. "It always in the family." Justice's father said to him. "I can sniff out Eezo." Justice answered. "As soon as I catch scent of it, I'll let you know." This will be an easy mission, Justice will be out of Omega in no time. The Drell's point particularly caught Delan's attention: Folding his hands in his lap Kato frowned and said. "Finally there's the matter of payment which we haven't discussed. Do we receive our payment from you, or are we taking a share from what we find?" The Volus added when he could: "Matters and details of payment are of particular interest to me..." (kss)
"What assurances do we have that you won't disappear amongst smoke and a bar fight when the job is done, Salarian? (kss)"Looking around, all I see here are skilled (and expensive) professionals, not thugs to send out on suicide missions (kss)"I think we should be expecting part-payment, up front." (kss)Satisfied at having pushed the financials up the agenda, the Volus relaxed a little. He glanced at the faces of the others in the hope that his presumptive compatriots would now be more focused on 'their cut',than continuing to discuss skills and potentially delve into Delan's less than extensive combat experience. Aleeta listened as Kato, Justice, and Delan shared what they cared to of their backgrounds, abilities, and curiosity regarding payment. She even grinned and chuckled under her breath at the Volus's determined focus, so characteristic of their race. "Well, I certainly have to agree with our stout friend," the Turian said with a wry grin. "I'm curious about payment as well." After a short pause, she added, "Oh, and I do believe the previous demonstration showed off a few of my skills quite sufficiently." She ran her eyes across the gathered associates, measuring them each in turn as she stood up a little straighter. "I do have formal military training," Aleeta admitted, feeling sure that at least the Drell and Salarian already suspected as much, "although I am no longer an operative. I work independently these days after the Hierarchy and I no longer saw eye-to-eye on some things. I can infiltrate with stealth or cause a diversion, depending on what's needed. My expertise lies in explosives, so anything you need blown open, imploded, demolished, or otherwise reduced to itty-bitty pieces, I'm your gal. I also like punching people, especially if the deserve it. So, I have no issue shoving some blades up slaver nostrils." The Cabal punctuated the last remark with a rather wicked grin. She conveniently left out the small detail of being a biotic, largely because her biotic skills were incredibly limited and not very effective or impressive. More of an annoyance that banished her to the Cabal ranks instead of letting her join the full military wing. If someone asked her directly, she'd share, but it wasn't information she felt worth throwing out on the table. Then, she pulled her M-11 Wraith shotgun from its holster on the back of her hips. "And I'm not so bad a shot at close-range either." She gave the side of the barrel a brief kiss. "So, we know the overall plan," Aleeta said, looking over at Sal. "Now, let's go over the finer details, shall we?" [OOC: GeneralXIV - your turn!]

Kalia saw the Turian enter the house. The lights dimmed and the drapes closed, meaning that the house would be much darker than usual inside. Perfect for her. Figuring knocking on the door like the Turian had wouldnt be the best plan, she flitted down an alley and checked if there was a rear entrance.[/p] There was. A circular, silver door with a holographic interface covering where the door would open. She knew the type. Probably linked to an expensive alarm system which would trip if someone tried to hack into it with an Omni-tool. She knew better than to do that. She uncloaked, and set about opening the door.
She reached behind her, finding the small bag strapped to her back. She opened it, taking out a pair of cable cutters and a small, harmless looking device which was nothing but a small piece of wood with a currently unlit red light bulb poking out from the top, setting both down on the floor. Kalia also drew a short, thin knife, and pushed the blade between a small gap in the door mechanism, removing one of the metal plates and setting it gently on the ground.
She was right about the alarm system. The door itself, though, had electro-magnetic locks, as she suspected. No biggie.
Kalia put her knife down on the ground, and retrieved the cable cutters. She placed the blades slightly over some of the wiring, pushing as gently as she could to only make a split in their protective coating, and used the tip of her knife to gently remove a small segment. She did the same thing to another wire, and gently clipped the red light on to the bare wiring, completing the circuit and causing the light to illuminate.
Satisfied, she used the cable cutters to cut the connection to the electro-magnetic lock, and a small part of the door opened with the slight sound of sliding metal, but not the usual beep which accompanied a door opening. Why? The red light completed the circuit, the door thought it was closed. The alarm thought the door was closed. It was only the electro-magnetic lock which had no power.
Placing the knife and the cable cutters back inside her bag, and fastening it on her back again, she slipped inside the house silently, reengaging her tactical cloak. She heard voices. From what she overheard, the people were planning some kind of job. With the delusional Turian... really? Dizzy... Dizzy would be a good name for her. Dizzy the Turian.
Kalia poked her cloaked head around into the living room, and saw the group of people. Her heart was racing. She drew back quickly, and accidentally stubbed her toe. She grunted in pain, then noticed the fairly loud sound that she made, and rolled her eyes at her own stupidity. No doubt the people in the kitchen would have heard her.
She needed an excuse. Any excuse.
Uncloaking, she stepped into the kitchen and spoke as confidently as she could.
"Hi, my name is Kalia and Im from Omega Security Systems," she reached into a pocket and took out a card and flashed it quickly. In reality, it was a membership card for a strip club she had stolen from an apparently horny Turian a few months before, but she hoped the quick flash would be enough. She continued, "For your safety, weve conducted a free security test, but you failed unfortunately. You can expect one of our engineers here in uh... a few days maybe to upgrade your security. Wouldnt want one of those awful gangs to break in, would you?"
She kept her hand close to her gun, just to be safe.

Sally listened carefully as each member detailed their skills. He thanked Justice for his insights into finding and handling eezo. He also noticed the Volus dodged the question on skills in favour of payment. He had expected payment to come up, and with individuals like this, it was prudent to be as up front as possible. Less 'I'll kill you for crossing me' down the line. "Yes, payment. Of course. I was just coming to that. I'll be honest with you. I don't have a huge slush fund to pay up front. I can swing say 10,000 credits each up front, to be wired to your accounts immediately. The final take I'm expecting to be far more. However, worse comes to worse each of you walks away 10,000 credits richer. " "Now, as for details of the job. With a large group such as this, I'm expecting we can do a bit more than what we planned. The black suns will be exchanging their package for something at the docks, from man unknown buyer. I was initially thinking of scooping the Black Suns package. however, with a group of this size and skill, we could do much more." He looked at each one carefully. "If we play this right, we can swoop in, take the Black Suns goods, and then use them to also take the goods they were trading for. What do you? - " A bump and a curse alerted them all to an intruder. Sally cursed and drew his gun. A dark haired human female stood near the hall to th back entrance, looking rather embarrassed. "Who are you and how did you get in here" he demanded, hoping the others would back him up. The human attempted to play off her intrusion as planned and benign. "Hi, my name is Kalia and Im from Omega Security Systems," the woman flashed a card, too quickly for Sally to get a good look at it. She continued, "For your safety, weve conducted a free security test, but you failed unfortunately. You can expect one of our engineers here in uh... a few days maybe to upgrade your security. Wouldn't want one of those awful gangs to break in, would you?" Keeping his gun trained on her, he snorted. "I don't think so. Who are you and who do you work for, really? " His omnitool had an easily accessible switch that would render any weapon she held useless for a short time, and he was ready to set it off just in case. [OOC Tagging @tzeenchianapostrophe ]

Kalia took a step back. She removed her hood and her breather mask, placing them on the floor before raising her hands in the air. "Hey, hey, hey," she protested, "Im cool, Im cool. If I wanted to do anything bad then I could have done it already. I have a pistol, and I have a tactical cloak. I could have gone boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom and killed you all... well, maybe not the Krogan because theyre pretty tough, but I could have killed everyone else. But I dont usually kill people, so thats points in my favor right? And I dont really want to get shot either, and you probably dont want my blood all over your house. Because if you do shoot me, Im gonna turn around and get as much blood on everything as I can. Unless I get shot in the head, because then I cant do that. Because Ill be dead. I have no idea why I said that. Why dont we just start again, hm? My name is Kalia and..." She sighed, "Guys, can we put the guns away please? It isnt like Ive even drawn mine yet, and youre making it really hard to concentrate. How am I supposed to make a good impression here?" Sally lowered his gun so it wasn't pointed at her, still ready to raise if he had to. She could be a Black Sun spy, but then again, she wouldn't have been caught if that was the case. "Very well, lets talk. Kalia. Why are you here? Did someone send you? How did you get in?" Kalia sighed at the questions. "Slow down, slow down. Well... thats an interesting story. I was in Afterlife, and I basically owe a guy some money. So I met him to try and pay him back, but I didnt have anything. When everything went... smoky, I hit him in the head with my drink and ran out. Then I followed Dizzy here. I saw her to try and tackle a Krogan and I thought she was crazy, so I thought I could steal from her. But I apparently entered the wrong house. Which is fine, it happens. Its actually why I owe the mercenary some money, I stole an expensive statue from him and then blamed his mom. Turns out he didnt like that. Anyway, no one sent me. I broke in using the door. Happy? I mean, of course youre not happy, I broke in. But are you happy with my explanation? Ill admit, I did overhear some of your plans, I know youre going to steal something from the Black Suns. So, you could kill me right now and get it over and done with... no loose ends and all that, or... I have something to trade. The mercenary who I owe money... hes part of the Black Suns. And before I got out of Afterlife I took his communicator and his gun." She reached into her hidden pocket and took out both, holding them in her hands. "So, this is what Im asking. In return for a way to listen into their communications and a free pistol, you wont kill me... or shoot me, or torture me, or anything like that. Ill also fix your door, which wont take so long, I only disconnected the lock. Although a few credits would be nice, because I need money right now. I also wont bleed everywhere, which has to be a bonus, right? Oh, but Id like a hug from the Volus. I have a bucket list." Sally's expression softened. Although it's not likely anyone but a Salarian could tell. He nodded and put away his gun, signalling everyone else to do the same.. "Very well. You plainly have skills which cold be useful, and that communicator should come in handy. If you like, you can join us for a portion of the take. " Kalia folded her arms, "How much are we talking about here?" Sally raised an eyebrow at that. "You aren't exactly in a position to negotiate. However, I'm fair. The number I offered before getting interrupted was 10,000 credits up front. The final amount depends on what we can take and how valuable it is. With six of us now, I suspect we'll do rather well." 50,000 credits up front. This better be worth it, he thought. Larry asked for the communicator, and Sal looked around the table, waiting for reactions to his offer and the new arrival. [OOC Tagging @tzeenchianapostrophe Joint post with General and Myself ]

All of a sudden, a human woman appeared out of no where. She introduced herself as: Kalia Allen, according to her she's the head of Omega Security Systems, but judging from her attire she looks a little bit suspicious. Besides Omega Security Systems is infamously incompetent, the fact that she snuck up on the group like that indicate she has skill. "For your safety, weve conducted a free security test, but you failed unfortunately. You can expect one of our engineers here in uh... a few days maybe to upgrade your security. Wouldnt want one of those awful gangs to break in, would you?" Kalia finished. Justice pulled out his Shotgun in defense. "I suggest you back away human slut." Justice spat. "Don't know about you guys but there's something about her!" "Guys, can we put the guns away please? It isnt like Ive even drawn mine yet, and youre making it really hard to concentrate. How am I supposed to make a good impression here?" Sal said with haste in his voice. Justice slowly lowered his Shotgun, but he never took his eyes off the human. Kailia explained that she owed a guy money and caused chaos, she eventually tried to pickpocket, Aleeta and followed her to the meeting in hopes she can catch the Turian off guard. She wants in on the mission and Sal was more than happy to oblige. "It's your call Sal, but I have my eye on you Kalia." Justice said to the human. Sal FINALLY told everyone the price, it was about 50,000 credits. Justice couldn't resist a grin "That's more than enough to get me out of this rock! Anything else we need to know?"
