Meet Viktor Shepard: Damn near born an Alliance soldier and wtih a massive military achievement to his resume, Viktor is pretty much the poster boy for the Alliance with a squeeky clean reputation. As we shall see though, he is not afraid to use (the threat of) violence to achieve to his goals. This is his journal: I'm aboard the Normandy, under command of the legendary captain Anderson. The crew is visibly and audibly on edge, as there's also a Turian Spectre along for the ride. I wonder what's really going on here.
Before even touching ground shit hits the fan and we're in what seems to be a warzone, fighting the Geth, looking for a Prothean beacon. The crew was right to be on edge. We lost Jenkins, but we had to push on and found Ashley Williams , another Alliance soldier under attack.
I ended up using the beacon... or maybe the beacon used me, I'm not sure. I woke up on the Normandy with visions and many questions, like what were the Geth doing on Eden Prime? The Quarians should never have created those damn synthetics. And why was Saren, yet another Turian Spectre involved? And is Anderson even right about all those things he's saying about Saren?
I hope today's going to be better than this shit I don't know how I ended up with Assault Rifle as a bonus power, or rather what unlocked it, but here we are and I'm happy about it Bonus for whoever likes seeing how I level up Shepard:

I'm guessing RedCaesar97 prefers characters with more varied toolboxes. I pick squadmates based on they compliment my Shepard's gameplan. Unfortunately for James, other squadmates are generally just more complimentary. Typical Adept, Vanguard, and Sentinel: Liara and Javik for (Pull and Singularity on insanely quick cooldowns) Typical Engineer: EDI. Tali later, Garrus otherwise. Infiltrator really doesn't care. EDI, Tali, and Garrus if you want to work with tech powers. Soldier: Has what James provides and can do it better. Typically Javik and Liara for Singularity and Pull James' best detonator is Frag Grenades, which are limited. Incendiary Ammo is good for priming and damage, but not what you want for tech or biotics. James just ends up being kind of niche. Good for certain builds or playstyles, but otherwise other squaddies compliment Shepard's skillset better. I am playing as an Engineer in ME3 right now. I had squad incendiary set, and it actually screwed up one of my power combos because James or Garrus primed somebody I did not want to be primed for a fire explosion.

I had squad incendiary set, and it actually screwed up one of my power combos because James or Garrus primed somebody I did not want to be primed for a fire explosion. I disagree with this assessment, most strenously. I am setting off explosions with Vega at a near constant rate with him and Carnage. I rarely use grenades with him because, as you said, its limited so I never toggle it as his power he uses on tap of the button and he is constantly setting off fire explosions with his incendiary ammo and then Abby's. It even got to the point that one of the Brutes on Tuchankka I set off three explosions in a row between him, Abby, and Garrus. Also with the Typhoon, I ammo, and high velocity barrels he can really just devour opponents and has wonderful syngery in that way, also in a 'bigger they are...'sense too as the armor of Brutes and Atlas's just dissolve...so far Banshees still take a little work...speaking of which... From the Personal Logs of Commander Abigail Shepard, May 16th, 2186.This whole situation is starting to seem...similar to me. The spheres, the behavior of the colonists on that asteroid belt...I can't quite put my finger on it but I swear it is reminding me of something from earlier in my career. Of course based on events at the colony the fact I can't remember is a cause of some slight concern. The lead on Garneu led us to an asteroid colony out in the middle of nowhere, someone that claimed they devellopped Tungsten. But, as Garrus put it, it became obvious almost instantyly they were doing anything but. I have my concerns on just what htey were doing...was it just random experiments or was their a malicious intent behind them? Studying patterns of invasion? But it was the attitude of the miners itself that seemed so off putting and strange. They had a very speicific focus and yet no focus at all. They didn't respond to our questions and they lied about Garneu despite it being obvious he was there...and I think they sabotaged the elevator. All of this pointed to, again rather obvious, signs of mental influence...ala the Reapers or Throrian...but I suppose a bit more obvious then that. The trouble is to that the Reapers themselves had beaten us to the punch or had arrived very close to our involvement. They also had a nasty surprise in store for us. The Reapers seem to have started finding Asari to corrupt. Powerful units with powerful biotic warp fields which can overload shields and sap strength. They also tend to announce their presence with a blood chilling scream...James has dubbed them, perhaps quite appropriately, 'Banshees'. In the end the Garneu we ran into wasn't Garneu, the 'real' Garneu died a week ago. We got there too late. And the fake Garneu blew up the artifact rather then let us study it or get to it. Leviathan seems determined to keep its position a secret. Even more creepy though...the colonists believe this is 2176. Apparently they have been 'under' for a decade. Which just gives me the heeby jeebies...and this does not seem to work like Reaper indoctrination, they are similar but indoctrination seems more like brainwashing or conversion...the Leviathan method seems to kick you out of your own head and pour something else in. I don't know what's worse...and it seems to work as long as a connection is maintained. May 19th
getting back to the Citadel we got our next lead on the Leviathan. Garret's daughter Ann is leading her own dig somewhere in the Terminus Systems of yet another lead on yet another artifact. But she's already claimed that Reapers have been sniffing around so we already have a ticking clock, I'm going to have Joker do some of his patented magic to try getting us around the Galaxy as fast as possible. Really burn the midnight oil. *** In other news, before I forget my wife has suggested something and shown me a method of taking some pretty good screen captures...and well Leviathan is rather good because there is a lot of photogenic pictures of Shepard there so I have been taking a lot of pics over the last few days which I am sure I will get to sharing some of them.

You can get it down to 12.5 seconds at rank 5, but at the cost of no knockdown. Most squadmates have quicker detonators. Shepard has quicker detonators. I just find that he does not synergize well with most of my playstyles or builds. But hey, if he's working out great with you, then keep at it. Not everyone is going to feel the same way about everything in these games. As long as you are having fun and enjoying the game, then that is all that matters. Happy gaming!

The last time I played through ME2, I imported a fake save from online where ParaShep didn't romance anyone in the first game. The experience with Kaidan in ME2 Horizon I recall mostly as yelling and I shrugged a d went on to commit 100% to Thane with no regrets.
This time around, I got a hug on Horizon and then I got this email. I probably got this email before, but this time I actually finished ME1 with a Kaidan romance personally. And... I feel like I should go back to Kaidan in ME3. Want to romance someone in 2 though and Jacob is a big Nope. Is Garrus difficult to break it off with in ME3, and does Kaidan gaslight you about "cheating"? Because that was definitely a breakup conversation on Horizon if the whole being dead two years wasn't a strong enough fact.
I wish Jack were bisexual 😭

Breaking off with anyone in ME3 isn't great but hey it's a game so if you want to romance someone else go for it. Regardless in ME3 even if you don't romance anyone I think they both send the email and then in ME3 say rumour has it that you were not faithful but you can flat out deny it. Yeah it is annoying Jack isn't Bi.

Has anyone had an issue where the HUD doesn't have your abilities on it in the game?
Did a repair and when I started playing the HUD only had Healing on it and trying to use them via the numbers they are bound to didn't work either????

RedCaesar97, I tend to favor squaddies who complement my desired experience, rather that strictly using the optimal team in each situation. I decide on my desired experience when picking a class. Then, during play I optimize within the scope of that desired experience. If I'm playing a Soldier, I am very unlikely to trot out Team Biotic as my squaddies. While it will always be helpful to lift enemies into the air; I'm not really huge fan of shooting floaters. I'd rather blow them up on the ground with tech/cryo/fire. When I choose Soldier, I'm imagining lots of gunfire and complementary explosions. Similarly, if I'm playing a biotic, I'm going to want to hear all those booming biotic explosions. This means my buddies Garrus and James rarely make it off the ship, since the biotic crew better serve my needs. Ammo Powers play a big role, too. I'm currently playing Vanguard. Having both Squad Incendiary and Cryo Ammo, I have no need for anyone else's ammo powers. (No Ash this time.) That makes allies who might otherwise be used for ammo powers or for fire/cryo less desirable. I'm getting sleepy, so I hope I'm not rambling or repeating myself. 🙃 I can't even keep my eyes straight to proofread my post. _____ Short version of today's play: I have only Cronos Station and Earth left for this Shepard's story. I had some interesting experiences, bugs, etc... but I'm just too sleepy to share. I hope I remember them tomorrow.

About time Vega gets some more love out there from someone other than me. I like Vega a lot. Which is not to say I don't enjoy giving him a hard time at the beginning of ME3, but he's a likable guy once he calms down a bit. I don't even mind his flirting since that's just the way he is and he does it with everyone. I like Vega as well but not as much as some of the ME2 squaddies. However, a few weeks ago, shotgunjulia posted this tribute to ME3 squadmates and I nearly fell out of my chair when I read James' entry. I don't know if I will ever view him the same way again j/k

Journal of Viktor Shepard, entry 2: the Citadel's a busy placeWe moved on directly to the Citadel. For a lot of us, this was our first visit so we're all very excited. Anderson immediatly took me, Kaidan and Ashley to see the human ambassador, a moody man called Udina. He arranged for us to meet with the Council. Kaidan, Ash and I though, we took a little detour. We entered the room next to Udina's where we spoke to two aliens we'd only ever seen before in books: a Volus and an Elcor. We had a chat and then moved on to the tower, only to find ourselves distracted by Avina, the virtual guide of the Citadel. Twice, no less.
Something tells me we're gonna be spending a lot of time here.
Finally we found our way to the Citadel Tower, where we saw Garrus, a Turian C-Sec officer, arguing with his boss. He couldn't get the work done he wanted to do, but he distrusts Saren. Good.
The council meeting ultimately left us empty handed. Our goal now is to expose Saren and we have two leads: Barla Von, a Volus, and Harkin whose supposed to lead us to Garrus. Before even leaving the tower though, we're roped into scanning the Keepers by a Salarian called Chorban.
Something tells me we're gonna be roaped into a lot of thing here.
We left the tower and went to the Financial District. Barla Von was nice enough to give us the information required free of charge and pointed us to a Krogan currently at C-Sec. I... dislike having a Krogan as our main option, so we'll be seeking out that Garrus guy first. To that end we talked to Executor Palin, but he was of no help. Slightly bummed out, we went to the lounge where some young private was boasting (and arguably lying) about meeting 'the Consort'. I was interested, so this is where we went next.
A three months wait! But apparently I'm a lucky guy. Or so I thought, turns out though she just needs me to fix her problems. Her and everybody else on this station. This better be worth it. Luckily for us we need to at be Chora's Den already anyway to talk to Harkin, so it ain't too much of a hassle.
I like these guides, informative.
On our way to Chora's Den we met Emily Wong, a journalist, who naturally needed our help as well. Slightly annoyed by all these needy people on the station, we decided to go to the local club for a dance and some drinks. I met a really cute girl working there... who also needed my help, with her sister. Being such a nice guy, I of course agreed to help. Gambled a bit before leaving where I stumbled upon a most peculiar signal.
I am now severely doubting I'll ever get off this station.
Met a dude named Conrad who only wanted my signature. Nice.
Outside of Chora's Den we got attacked. Kaidan claimed these were assassins sent by Saren and I have no reason to doubt him. Inside we immediately got to bussiness: we talked to Jenna, the sister of the girl I met at the bar, but she wouldn't listen. We talked to Septimus on behalf of Sha'ira and convinced him to straighten up. Finally we talked to Harkin. What a sorry excuse of a man. He did point us to Garrus though, so we got what we needed.
Knowing Garrus' location, I decided to deal with two other things first: that peculiar signal and Sha'ira's problem.
An AI!!! First the Geth and now this? These synthetics are going to be a big, big issue. Sha'ira gave me some kind of trinket.
After a fire fight at the clinic, Garrus joined the team. He pointed us towards Fist, in Chora's Den. We all agreed to also pick up the Krogan. Took a slight detour to Flux again where we met the cheater Schells. We gave his device to the owner of Flux, then we made our way to C-Sec to meet the Krogan. Decided to play nice with the brute and he joined up.
Also met a friend of Chorban who claimed Chorban wants to murder him. What have I gotten myself into? I decided to finish scanning the Keepers though, and found the last one I needed tucked away in the back of C-Sec. Hope I don't get into trouble for this.
Then we dealt with Fist.
I added the Quarian to my main squad. We're facing Geth, she'll come in handy.
We left the embassy and were yelled at by a guy called Samesh. Yet another who needed me for his problems. I dealt with it though, the body of his wife is staying for tests. He ultimately accepted this. Ashley was a great help here, I'm keeping her for my main squad.
Udina, Anderson, Tali, Ashley and me went to the tower to meet with the Council once more, but this time things went very differently. Saren was stripped of his Spectre status. I became the first Human Spectre and my first assignment is to take Saren down. I'll make humanity proud.
It immediatly becomes apparent my Spectre status is hardly a secret. Immediatly Admiral Kahoku and a civilian named Garoth dump their problems on me. Luckily these problems are both off station so I might actually get to leave it at some point. I can't wait. Outside the tower I got rid of some Hanar preacher, C-Sec gave me money for it.
And remember that reporter, Emily Wong? She tried short selling me
After meeting with Chelik it was busy time at the lower Markets. I dealt with Jax (sold him a mod for Chellik), Chorban (the poor guy was in way over his head, he got out) and Michel's blackmailer.
After talking to Chellik, Jahleed and Dr. Michel again, my work at this station was almost done and this long, long day can maybe come to an end. Just one more thing had to be done, if possible: find better armor for Tali. She's Quarian, her armor is going to be hard to come buy. We found one at the Presidium, sold by a Hanar. We also met a criminal there who obviously trying to set us up. I brushed her off.
We went to the Normandy where Anderson told us he was stepping down and I was to be given the Normandy. I felt a little sorry for him, but I was mostly happy to get off the station. Extra happy with my own ship.
Sorry for the long ass post. I got carried away

I finished ME3 again today. It felt like it went by too quickly. Now I gotta decide if I do MELE trilogy run #5, or take a break. There's new stuff in AC Valhalla, and I have been thinking of HZD and TLoU2.
Playing Vanguard beginning to end creates an interesting arc, since the class abilities change so dramatically in each game. In ME1, I'm basically playing a better armored Adept. In ME2, we wake up with L5 implants and the ability to Charge and Reave (the latter optional). Pretty cool. By ME3, Shep has mastered Nova. It feels pretty organic and believable in the context of a space fantasy marine and all.
I took Javik and Kaidan on Priority Earth. They were my heavy biotic team. Kaidan's ability to mix in tech, as well as his Typhoon, made me pick him over Liara most missions. He's also a marine, rather than an archaeologist, which makes a difference in my subconscious preference. Also, Singularity simply isn't as powerful when I'm going to annihilate any crowd that it might've snared with Charge->detonation->Nova->detonation.
I had a lot of fun being the biotic god for the first time in ages. I'm not sure who my next Shepard will be.

From the Personal Logs of Commander Abigail Shepard, May 21st, 2186Somehow we got out ahead of the Reapers and this just demonstrates how seriously they are taking the threat and how much they want to find Leviathan, or at leasst keep us from finding him. They deployed a fairly major force to take out an archeological expedition. Especially with heavy air support. No actual Reaper themselves made an appearance but a large concentration of ground forces via those harvesters in orbit. I have no idea how many people were deployed or what their defenses were but by the time we got there Ann was the only one last. After some of the most intense fighting against the Reapers yet of the entire war we reached her and she seemed to confirm and add context to much of what we already knew. The most interesting revelation was that she discovered a cave painting of what certainly looks like a Leviathan and in that instance the painting made it seem like a Reaper...with something which looked like a primitive society looking up and worshipping or in terror of the thing. Creepier and creepier. Afterwards though Leviathan 'took control' of her again, it gave its usual warnings, we blew up the sphere, and then had to fight our way out to the LZ and extraction. May 24thWe went back to Bryson's lab and Ann was quite...put out...by her experiences with Leviathan and what it did to her father as well. She wasn't happy with it and wanted to find the monster responsible...which was a bit awkward considering it may make a potential ally though there has been an undercurrent of concern. Nevertheless though it was because of this that gave her an idea to try. To intentionally let Leviathan take control, to offer herself up as bait as we tried to trace that connection back towards it. I'll admit the risks were high and the risks that it could have taken control of me or James...even though it has been established that the spheres need long term connection with you...hmm...but yes the risks were high but it was the only plan we had. Oh yes and James decided to be there. And...it worked. Though since the Reapers were looking for them and may even have a headstart on us I decided to push her a bit. I didn't think I had the choice or the time to play it delicate...and James took Ann off to a medical facility afterwards. I just hope its worth it. May 25thJoker red lined the engines to get us here in time and somehow he beat the Reapers here by minutes. Not that it did much good in the end because we still had to fight our way through a bunch of Brutes and husks to get to our destination. *she snorts* You know its funny, after all this time I was kind of beginning to think that I was immune to...well indoctrination, brainwashing, mind control, all that stuff. I breathed in the Thorian Spores. I've been near enough to dozens of pieces of Reaper technology in my time. I have been inside a Reaper...and yet have not really had any compulsion to serve, no whispers, no ghosts or audio halcinations and I passed my last psych eval with flying colors. And part of this is my own training and experience. Afterall during N school they trained us to resist mental control and manipulation like this. So yeah despite being terrified of the possibility time and again, well I believe I've come through with flying colors but then again who knows? But the Leviathan was able to kick me out of my own head just as easily as anyone else. I suppose my vanity reassures me that it still took three of them to get me down in close proximity but they were quite adamant that I was going to remain there a servant of their needs. ...But then of course I was able to convince them to stop. Still eerie, the possibility, the influence does still really creep me out. How close I came to having something else go off in my body and just use me as a meat puppet. And maybe James or Garrus as well. I wonder what they would have used us for. *she sighs and looks away* Which of course brings me to the one bit of bad news because maybe in the end this wouldn't have been such a bad fate. Heard from the Doctors. Ann is in bad shape...they expect her to recover eventually but they had to induce a medical coma to keep her alive long term. I hate this job. I despise it more and more because...* she gets angry, animated*...despite my recent revelations, serving life, the individual, not governments and power structures my job constantly requires me to make the tough call. The right call. The call for the 'greater good'. I had to do it. It was a calculated risk and it proved out being right in the end. If I hadn't made the choice I did with Ann, hadn't pushed her, put her health, her very life in danger...the Reapers would've gotten to Leviathan first. That is fact. And who knows what would've happened from there, granted its hard to predict an unknown but at the very least I'd likely be dead, shot down in an attempt to reach them...and the Leviathan wouldn't have gotten involved in the war. So yes despite everything it seems I am doomed to sacrifice myself and my needs and the needs of other people to the glories of the collective good, because I have no real choice. Of course then the Leviathan's may be a cure worse then the disease, especially once we get through it. They make it very clear they consider themselves the Apex race, might have just traded one tyrant for another. But can't worry about that now, tommororow's problems will be for tommorow, even if I am compromised... *** BOY was this a fun stream of consiousness log to right. Bit of character development here because I realized that this could be used to set up two future plot points in Abby's development, two of her later decisions, wonder if anyone can pick up on them? Something weird did happen though think the game glitched a bit where it just kept me talking to Ann, for some reason it just entirely skipped out on seeing James there and getting his introduction, and the whole bit with the husk...very off putting. Does James even have a scene where he comes to get you on the ship? I mean I really don't exactly mind Garrus comming to Abigail's rescue, he is her best friend, but I just can't recall if I have ever seen the scene in question if James does. I might have to take Ashley out the next time I play this DLC with them, if that happens, if I remember.

It all feels pretty organic and believable in the context of a space fantasy marine and all. Thanks for the reminder. You know even if I finish early I probably will just putter around on something else non serious until the DLC comes out and then start playing it. Though it is going to be a bit of a footrace...probably.

That will get me to log in and do a few things, at least. I've not even opened that game since May. I know some things have changed since then.

I have 16 completed playthroughs leading to only 3 completed trilogy runs. At the moment, I'm undecided when I'll get back to playing the remaster.

As an aside something I forgot to add and since its not relevant anymore I doubt I will have the opprotunity from here to do so. I have been rewatching Star Trek Voyager recently and its been fun, in a six degrees of seperation sense, watching one of the characters who my Female Shepard is based off of intereacting with, even if only for a scene or two, a character played by Raphael Sbarge...Kaidan Alenko has been a very bad boy.

Is Garrus difficult to break it off with in ME3, and does Kaidan gaslight you about "cheating"? Garrus takes it well and is very sweet about it. He has your back no matter what. (Not that I did it myself, I saw it on YouTube.) I find it heartbreaking as a Garrus fan, but you do you. Kaidan is an ass in 3 and accuses you of cheating, even though you were dead for two years and his behavior in 2 is absolutely him breaking up with you in my book. And femshep doesn't get to call him out on that like broshep does with Ashley. Has anyone had an issue where the HUD doesn't have your abilities on it in the game? This is happening to me this playthrough specifically with singularity as a bonus power.

dragontartareWell, if he's a jerk about the "cheating" then the warm afterglow of his email may fade 🤔 Wants to romance some new vs going romance less. We'll see which urge wins.

dragontartareWants to romance some new vs going romance less. We'll see which urge wins. I'm sure you can guess what my vote would be I'll maybe take my chances with Garrus then. This isn't my cannon Shep by a long shot, so may as well go with someone else. I felt like Renegade Shep didn't match Kaidan very well anyway.
