melbella Interesting thought about the Leviathans. I never assumed that where we find them in ME3 has anything to do with their world of origin. Nor does this one necessarily need to be. Curious who would have even known about them to do such sculpting 500,000 years ago? Harbinger?
Well, we saw cave paintings of Leviathans in the DLC so my guess would be some space-worthy thrall species carved up the moons - literally. Kinda puts the Easter Island moai statues and the Nazca lines to shame.

You mean, an entire species Leviathans made thralls 500,000 years ago? It would be interesting if they still had thralls on that level so recently.

Dear Nephew,
Not much time. Have to write quick. Daniel now running my clinic on Omega. Please check in on him and assist if required. Fortunately, plague on Omega cured before I left.
Surprisingly, I am now on human ship owned by Cerberus. Have been recruited to work on an important mission. The Commander and squad just returned from Horizon after thwarting a Collector attack on the human colony there. I was required me to quickly develop an agent to protect them from toxic seeker swarms. Not difficult. Am hoping to convince Commander of my combat skills. Looking forward to being out in the field again. Overheard Commander and the Illusive Man arguing over the mission. Apparently the Illusive Man leaked information that caused the Collectors to choose that particular colony to hit next. The ship is now en route to Haestrom to recruit a Quarian for the team after having stopped off at the Citadel for the Commander to confront Admiral Anderson about one of his former crew, a Kaidan Alenko, who was apparently on Horizon during the attack.
I will call to talk with you directly at earliest opportunity. Very busy now running tests to determine how scale itch got onto the ship. Implications unpleasant. Uncle Mordin

Filed under: Personal I went to investigate an Ardat-Yakshi monastery, following T'Soni's lead about it. Took her with me for any details she might know, Javik came along too. Turned out the monastery had been overrun with Reaper ground forces, and they had begun to turn the Ardat-Yakshi into hideous things. Their screams were earsplitting. We ran into one Ardat-Yakshi who was still herself. She had a sister who was in the Great Hall. She ran off, but since the Great Hall was our destination anyway, we caught up to her soon. Commandos had been sent to purge the place. Of course they had died, so I took care of it. The sister had already started to turn into one of these creatures, but the Ardat-Yakshi we had met earlier was still alive. I thought about just shooting her, but she promised to stay at the monastery and to be honest, either she'll be dead soon or joining these screaming monsters. There's nowhere for her to go, so she wasn't my problem. This all reminded me of Morinth. She had just vanished after our Suicide Mission, but wrote me an e-mail recently. I probably should've killed her when I still had the chance. But maybe she's dead already. When I returned to the Normandy we plotted course for the Citadel once more before heading back to Tuchanka, and after refreshing a bit I invited T'Soni to come up to my cabin. She wanted to show me something she'd worked on. A backup plan should we fail against the Reapers. We won't, but it was not a bad idea. I should've been tired, but I wasn't. Funny thing. I invited Traynor up because I actually wanted some company and she had written to me about some chess matches before. It all went a little differently than expected. When she came in she was taken aback by me having my own shower. An idea formed in my head and I offered her she could take a shower. I'm not oblivious to her behaviour around me and I noticed how she looked at me whenever I talked to her. Admiring, her eyes telling signs of infatuation. I was dead on and when she mentioned 'someone' she tried to pursue, I joined her in the shower. Seduced her. It felt good, and in a way I felt like I got revenge for what Jacob had done to me, even though I knew that I did not exactly cheat on him. But I was frustrated and this was just what I needed. I actually like Traynor enough to keep her around, and she should be a good distraction from my 'feelings' for Jacob. A few pics: So the dialogues were different when choosing Morinth over Samara. Falere never mentions her mother and Shepard will never know her and Rila were Samara's daughters (I think). Pretty cool, so I'm happy I actually went through with picking Morinth for once. Of course I also died a brutal Banshee death, sync-killed

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2:
Citadel - Meeting with the Council
The Normandy docked on the Citadel, and Shepard headed to the Zakera Ward customs checkpoint. She made contact with Kasumi Goto via an advertising kiosk, as per the instructions in Kasumi's dossier. Kasumi was a skilled thief, and Cerberus felt that her knack for bypassing security systems and infiltrating heavily fortified installations would come in handy on their mission. Kasumi had agreed to help in exchange for assistance with a "heist" she had planned - the recovery of something called a graybox (that had belonged to her now deceased partner), from the man who stole if from her.
Before heading through customs, Shepard decided to get the latest headlines from Galactic News, to see what she had missed in the last couple of years. She was glad to hear Kate Bowman from Terra Nova was alive and well. There were a few other interesting stories, including a rumour that Commander Shepard had been spotted alive on Omega. Shepard had never set foot in the place - did TIM deliberately leak the news to the media to score some PR points, or something?
C-Sec Customs picked up on the fact that a "dead" Spectre was trying to pass through security - top notch security system, obviously - and Shepard, Jacob and Kasumi were asked to see Captain Bailey to sort out the confusion. Bailey wasn't exactly a "by the book" officer, and reinstated Shepard's credentials without going through proper channels. Shepard asked about humans in C-Sec - more now, as a result of the losses from Sovereign's attack - the Citadel, and other topics. Shepard accessed Avina, to learn a bit about Zakera Ward, the increased C-Sec presence on the station, and the work to repair the damage from Sovereign's attack. She also watched a few Citadel NewsNet broadcasts - featuring her old acquaintance Emily Wong. Realizing she'd dawdled enough, she and her two companions headed for the Presidium to meet with Anderson.
The Council connected to the meeting remotely - they were off the station on tour somewhere. The meeting was ... interesting. Claiming there was no hard evidence to support the existence of the Reapers, the Council dismissed them as "just a myth" and insisted Shepard had been manipulated by both Saren and Cerberus. Shepard understood why they publicly denied any knowledge of the Reapers - no sense sending everyone into a panic - but didn't know why they were behaving this way with her. Not wanting to tip their hand to Cerberus, perhaps?
They accused Shepard of being guilty of treason by working for Cerberus, but soon after changed their tune and told her she could have her Spectre status reinstated if she kept a "low profile" and restricted her operations to the Terminus Systems. (Shepard had heard of "good cop / bad cop" before, but this seemed excessive). This was fine with Shepard - the Terminus was where the Collectors were operating, after all, and they had rightly pointed out it was beyond Council jurisdiction. The Council disconnected. Anderson pointed out that the Spectre reinstatement was symbolic and "they wouldn't actually do anything." Shepard knew that, and understood. Despite their attitude, Shepard felt they had given her everything she needed. Publicly, she would be a "rogue Spectre" (or more likely, they wouldn't acknowledge her being alive at all), given free reign to do what she needed to do in the Terminus Systems (which she had previously been prevented from entering). She knew if she screwed it up there'd be hell to pay - she'd be declared rogue for real, most likely - but that was the life of a Spectre. Whatever they said publicly or privately, they had given her the mandate to deal with what she considered the biggest threat to the galaxy - the Reapers and whatever minions they had working for them.
After a brief visit from Udina, Anderson updated Shepard on what had gone on since the Normandy was destroyed. He indicated Ashley was on special assignment, but refused to give specifics (because Cerberus). Shepard understood. Interestingly, he claimed that very little of Sovereign's remains had been recovered following the Battle of the Citadel. Between "unauthorized salvage" and the Keepers, there wasn't much left to study. Knowing what she knew about the Keepers and their origins, Shepard wondered if they were deliberately tyring to prevent any information about the Reapers from getting out..
They said their goodbyes, with Anderson reminding Shepard that "you can't trust Cerberus" (no kidding, thought Shepard). She did some grocery shopping for the mess sergeant at one of the stores on Zakera Ward, was recognized by a starstruck clerk at Saronis Applications, gave an endorsement to Rodam Expeditions in exchange for a discount on some weapon upgrades, set a krogan straight about fish in the Presidium lakes (there aren't any), and picked up some of Dr Chakwas' favourite brandy. She spoke to a volus used ship dealer, but despite his excellent sales technique she passed on buying a new shuttle - she had no plans for any "bulbous children" anytime soon.
Reporter Khalisah al-Jilani requested another interview with her. This time, Khalisah criticized Shepard's actions at the Battle of the Citadel, implying that saving the lives of the Council wasn't worth the loss of Alliance ships during the battle. Shepard didn't bother pointing out that it was as much about saving the Destiny Ascension as the Council - no officer worth a damn sacrifices dreadnoughts to save cruisers - but she knew it was unlikely Khalisah or her audience would have sufficient understanding of naval tactics to understand her point. Instead, she chastised Khalisah for dishonouring the sacrifice made by the Alliance soldiers who died in the battle and left it at that.
Back on the Normandy, Shepard read an email from Samesh Bhatia, the husband of a squad-mate of Ashley's who died on Eden Prime. He had opened a restaurant in his wife Nirali's honour, and thanked Shepard for the assistance she had given him. She then delivered the better quality provisions that Gardner had asked for, and had Kasumi tell her about some of the heists she had pulled in the past.
Dr Chakwas wanted to share some of the brandy she had bought - Shepard wasn't much of a drinker, but agreed as it seemed like Chakwas needed a friend at that moment. Chakwas revealed the real reason she had ended up on the mission - she'd followed Joker, knowing that he would need help treating his Vrolik syndrome. Shepard admired her dedication to her friend, and they raised a toast to "the ornery bastard who flies this ship!"

From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy: So, I think the whole quest for the Serrice Ice Brandy has glitched. Which makes this the glitchiest playthrough I have ever had. And it will be a shame if I decide to import it into ME 3 I won't get that scene between Shepard and Chakwas. Serrice Brandy can be found in Afterlife, main floor bar on Omega and at the Dark Star Lounge, 28th Floor of the Citadel. Wiki says it's also at Ratch's shop on Tuchanka and the drink kiosk at Eternity on Illium. Interesting. I've never considered leaving the side quest until that late in the game. I do know that when you buy it from Afterlife, you are actually dinged the 1000 credits; but if you buy it from the Dark Star on the Citadel, you're not actually charged for it.

Mark Shepard:
Normandy: Crew check-ins: Comparing turians and krogan. Guy never sleeps. EDI: Thought I was staring at her. Cortez: Found it a new experience to cede control of the Kodiak to Wrex on Sur'Kesh. Vega: Likes Wrex. KEI-9: Scanning. Daniels and Donnelly: Dude is super creepy. Not sure what Daniels sees in him. Adams: Needs a GX12 thermal pipe so the engines don't vent and kill the engineers. Allers: Looking bored. Chakwas: Hanging in the crew quarters. Mordin and Eve: Mordin sang a "krogan queen" song to Eve. She loved it. Garrus: Busy. Liara: Received intel from Glyth that the Tyvor colony nuked itself when Reapers were invading rather than be harvested or turned into husks. Heavy shit and can't say I entirely blame them. Pets: Cheery. Traynor: Compared the galaxy map to games and have a chess game planned with her.
Liara wanted to meet me in my cabin to discuss a project she was working on. It was to serve as a warning for a future cycle should we not defeat the Reapers. It would tell them about the Crucible and everything we knew the Reapers did in advance of invasion. This way they would be prepared when the Reapers finally did arrive. She couldn't help glorifying me but I got her to tone it down. She's a really good friend. I doubt I would have been brought back to life without her recovering my body.
Citadel: Found Cortez near the Normandy dock watching ships come in. He's thinking about leaving a memento at the memorial wall for his husband. I think it's just what he needs.
Kelly Chambers felt bad on reporting to the Illusive Man about me and my crew. I don't her I never minded her keeping on eye on me. She had no idea she might be selling me out because she didn't know what Cerberus was at the time.
Told Ambassador Osaba that I'd found his son's body in the slums of Benning. Returned his dog tags. He understood that his son had sacrificed himself for his squad and was honored by it.
Authorized letting the Grissom Academy students onto the Citadel. Should be a given. These kids are 100% pure assets.
Tuchanka: Before curing the genophage I wanted to know what Cerberus was doing on Tuchanka. I didn't want them getting in my way when it came to actually administering the cure since they were so obviously opposed to it. I took Garrus and EDI with me. I always figured EDI might have some edge when it comes to fighting Cerberus. There's an ancient krogan ground-to-air cannon. I can only assume that planned to commandeer it and use it against Alliance forces. Also trying out the new Raptor I purchased to see how it stacks up against the Indra. And I see it does indeed take the heads off of Cerberus troopers from a distance. Also found a power grid schematic.
I was about to activate the cannon when Cerberus cut power to it. I was going to have to manually reactivate the power and then return here. Once that was done I activated the cannon. The very first thing it did was take out a Cerberus cruiser. We'd never have even known about this had Cerberus not been so stupid. Now we had an advantage in this system.
Normandy: War Assets: 1698 + Shadow Broker Wet Squad + Alliance Spec Ops Team Delta + Alliance Cruiser Shanghai + Alliance Naval Exploration Flotilla + Prothean Data Files + Krogan First Division = 1998 x 55% = 1098.
Adams, Donnelly and Daniels installed the new thermal pipe. With their safety concerns handled it freed up their thinking for other things. They had an idea that could help improve with the Crucible and I told them to send it onward.
Citadel: Brief stopover at the Citadel to drop off those power grid schematics to a woman outside of Purgatory.

From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy: From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy, August 1, 2185.
So...we went on a mission. I don't know the details...but we came back...and the crew is gone. The Collectors stole the crew.
I mean we get Legion down...and now this.
But one way or another, the fuse is lit. We have to save them. I guess one way or another, the suicide mission begins. Did Legion's Mission, did Joker's mission, now....through the Omega 4 I go.

Mark Shepard:
Tuchanka: This is it. I've but this off long enough. Time to cure the genophage. I'll be going down with Wrex, Eve, Mordin, Garrus and James. Wrex would lead ground forces with Primarch Victus was send in an air strike. Reapers were in evidence now and they needed to be distracted while our smaller team went to the Shroud.
Then the Dalatrass called. She figured out that the Shroud was the only way to cure the genophage. She wanted me to sabotage it, allowing the krogan to believe they're cured. Then she'd send salarian aid for the Crucible. The kicker is that she told me to deal with Mordin however possible. This is a friend she's talking about. I don't stab friends in the back. Does she think I have no honor, that my word means nothing? I'm not saying I have no doubts about what curing the genophage. Without Wrex and Eve it could be a disaster. I'm going to accept krogan boots on Palaven - and then turian ships in Earth space - over whatever she's offering. I already have STG on my side so I'll manage without her. Horrible woman.
I was about to tell everyone that the Shroud had been sabotaged but we were interrupted. We landed and faced some husks. Then Wrex's half-brother Wreav arrived. He was unhappy with a salarian being present and Mordin was a little nervous himself. Eve set them in there place along with Wrex headbutting his brother. Wrex also said he trusted Mordin, which was significant for a krogan. But he knew the stakes and he knew Mordin was the second salarian seeking to end the genophage. Things had changed.
On the ride over to the Shroud, I revealed the Shroud sabotage and how the dalatrass wanted me to prevent the cure from being spread. They were all grateful and Mordin said he was familiar enough with the work to counter that sabotage. Unfortunately, we had to stop because the roads were out. We could see a Reaper in the distance altering the Shroud so that it poisoned the atmosphere rather than fix it. We tried to call of the turian airstrike but it was too late. One ship nearly decimated the Tomkah we had been riding in. Me and my squad weren't inside at the time and ordered the others to head to the Shroud. The roads were a wreck but they could be passed. The Tomkah is enough like a Mako that it could cover difficult terrain.
For Garrus, James and I it meant traveling through some underground tunnels. According to Eve, it was the "City of the Ancients". We were experiencing tremors but that was said to be because it was the hunting grounds of something called Kalros, the mother of all thresher maws. As Garrus said, anything the krogan name is something they believe they can't kill. That's saying something given that he and I have killed thresher maws together and on our own. Also saw some paintings that looked very much like ancient Egyptian art. Even the headdresses of the Egyptian priests looked similar to the priest in this artwork. I wonder if there was a link. The krogan do have 1000+ year lifespans so maybe some made their way to Earth somewhere between being uplifted and the Krogan Rebellion. Also found a picture of Kalros. That meant this maw was ancient. There was a krogan depicted worshiping Kalros. If it was a big as suggested, this this was truly monstrous. Bigger than any of the 10 thresher maws I had killed. Another thing showed them riding something that looked like a triceratops.
It was about then we found a dead rachni, the kind that were altered by Reaper tech. Finally came into the air. It looked amazing. There were even plants growing, something I didn't think was possible. Eve called that hope. Still, the Reapers were pulling out all stops here: husks, rachni, cannibals, ravagers, marauders and brutes. That's impressive. On the other side of them we saw just the ridges of Kalros, doing some serious damage to a bridge. If the width of it was the tall, how long could it be?
I made it to Wrex's Tomkah just in time. Kalros was attacking and Wreav's vehicle was destroyed, along with he and all of his "true krogan". We got close to the Shroud but there was a Reaper in our path. Eve had an idea though. In ancient times, the krogan can worshiped Kalros and had created giant hammers of some kind to summon her. The plan was to activate the hammers and bring Kalros to attack the Reaper. She was as big as the Reaper so maybe it was possible. I just had to stay alive to get to the hammers. Before I took off, Wrex wanted me to know that I was a champion to the krogan people and a friend to Clan Urdnot. Whatever happened, he'd make sure that when a krogan heard the word "Shepard" they equated it with "hero". Wrex is my bro. No way I could ever betray him.
Mordin told me the original genophage strain was in storage at the Shroud and he was preparing it. Meanwhile, the Reaper fired on me and the bridge I was standing on. That left me with only one path and it led directly in the direction of the Reaper. I didn't think we had any chance until Artimec Wing showed up and fired on the Reaper. It was suicide but also the only way we could get through. Kalros showed up and fought the Reaper. It was touch and go but she took that Reaper down for the count. If we all survived this war I suspect the krogan just might start worshiping Kalros again.
Mordin had to go into the Shroud to counteract the sabotage but the place was falling apart. I tried to convince him to find another way but he said there was no other option. He wouldn't be coming back. Watching someone I'd come to look on as a friend going to his death was hard. I was going to miss him. He was a great man. The finest example of heroism.
The genophage came down like snowflakes. This was true hope for the krogan people. Even Mordin believed not just that they would be useful against the Reapers but that Eve and Wrex could forge a bright future for the krogan. Wrex said he'd name one of his children after Mordin. Eve, who told me her name was Urdnot Bakara, thanked me and said I was a friend. Then she went off to address the gathering krogan to make sure they didn't squander the gift they'd been given.
Normandy: Hackett was pleased and accepted that salarian support would have cost too much. Victus reported that the krogan were already en route to Palaven and that Earth would have turian support. Even if I don't have the salarians and the asari on board just yet, this is a huge win. We saw a Reaper go down (which we'd seen with Sovereign and other space battles), which symbolized that their talk of being infinitely greater than us was bluster. They weren't invulnerable. And maybe the Crucible was able to get past their defenses to destroy them without a fight.
Garrus urged me to get some sleep. I was exhausted, physically and emotionally. He was one of my best friends so I trusted him. Of course, I had another damned nightmare. Same setting but in addition to the kid there were other shadows around. Still heard the sounds of Reapers but there were whispers. I recalled Ash's last words to me on Virmire. I also heard Mordin's last words to me on Tuchanka. A female voice called my name. I also heard a voice that sounded like Kasumi. That made no sense unless something happened to her that I didn't know about. I woke up right as the kid burst into flames.
Liara came to visit. She told me the salarian councilor wanted to see me. She wasn't happy about the genophage cure but recognized that she wouldn't even be a councilor if not for one of my past decisions. When I suggested she tell them that krogan would die so salarians didn't have to, she seemed okay. Then she told me she had concerns about Udina and to come see her next time I was on the Citadel.
Hackett gave me an update on how things were going. As well as can be expected but also better than could be hoped. Krogan troops were helping.
War Assets: 1698 + Krogan power grids for Purgatory + Optimized Eezo Capacitors + Urdnot Wrex + Krogan Clans + Clan Urdnot + Krogan Mercenaries + Turian 43rd Marine Division + Turian Seventh Fleet + Turian Engineering Corps = 3056 x 57% = 1741.

Found Wrex's armor, then headed to Pinnacle Station. No problems on Capture or Survival, but Hunt and Time Trials are kicking my ass. So frustrating when enemies spawn out of sight and for some reason don't bum-rush you. Like that ever happens in-game. I got tired of missing the record by 1 or 2 so I turned the difficulty down to Veteran and finished both Hunts. I'm still having issues with the Time Trials though - these sims just aren't meant for classes that don't use ARs. My Spectre pistol is great and all, but it fires in slow motion unless I use Marksman. Also, Immunity is pure evil.
Hopefully I can do the rest of them tomorrow. I'll turn the difficulty back to Hardcore for Ahern's mission.

Today was a good day to be a Quarian in Benjamin's world state, a bad day to be a Geth and potentially a saucy day to be Steve. Depending if they can even get under the bed I suppose. Poor VI, everyone insisted on calling him Legion, despite him saying again and again that he was not. Also, everyone seemed to miss Legion terribly, despite him just having been booted up before he was burnt to crisp by the engine. But anyways, VI is dead now.
Benjamin, Ashley and Tali then saved Victus' son and disarmed a bomb on Tuchanka. Ash and Benjamin had a moment on the shuttle and on the Normandy before heading to the Citadel. Benjamin was just going to take a nap in Anderson's apartment (which was a lot bigger than he expected) but ended out going to lunch with Joker instead.
Lunch turned into bullets, then into a tuxedo date with Wrex, the best bae. Found where Steve hung out after the date, so reloaded to check his lines. Kinda fit after both events. >:3 Archives went well (team old lizards, Javik and Wrex) and Poser Shep went down easy enough (Garrus and Wrex). With his darling pets safe and sound it was time for a few meet ups.
Next session will probably checking what info the Asari councillor has in the embassy and see if Ann Bryson has recovered from the loss of her father.

Mark Shepard: (sorry for so many posts; I've been off for several days and staying with my parents; been playing a lot of ME while here relaxing)
Normandy: Crew check-ins: Garrus and Joker: Trading jokes. Cortez: Still working on the Kodiak. Vega: Tuchanka reminds him of home. I really feel for this guy right now. Adams, Daniels and Donnelly: Donnelly is still a crep. Adams has nothing to report. Allers: Interviewed me on the genophage cure. I said the krogan were heroes during the Rachni Wars and they wanted to be heroes again. The krogan ate it up and I got more support from them. Chakwas: Back in the med bay. EDI: Uploading Reaper data to the turians. They think they've found a weakness. Liara: Told Glyph to tell the krogan to stay away from the inert Reaper. Sound advice given what we know of dead Reapers and indoctrination. Pets: The fish, the hamster and the dog are all happy. Traynor: She's starting to believe the legends about me are true.
The memorial wall has the name of another friend on it. It's sort of fitting that it's there since this ship is where he and I served together. I'm glad I didn't have to put Wrex there.
Emails: The dalatrass is disappointed, Wrex is off to save the turians, Corinthus thinks Palaven has a shot at surviving, Shiala and the Zhu's Hope colonists are still fighting, ExoGeni is on the side of the colonists, and a thank you note from someone I rescued on Benning.
Citadel: We got there and there was no one to guide us in. There were no sign of Reapers so we weren't sure what was going on. Then Joker tried emergency channels. Of all people, Thane answered. He said Cerberus took command. Kaidan went with the Council to protect them. Took a shuttle down near C-Sec with Garrus and Liara. Dunno why but I felt like having some of my oldest friends with me.
We started fighting Cerberus as soon as we hit set down. Bailey was injured and near the C-Sec entrance. He got us in and set us off to find Councilor Esheel. She's the one I was supposed to be meeting with anyway. As we set off, he took control of the systems and set us in communication with Thane.
I know I'm a Vanguard, which means I rush right into battle, but man do I love shooting the heads off of Cerberus troopers with a sniper rifle. We fought out way to the office of the Executor. Esheel had been meeting with him, which meant he was about to bring down charges on someone powerful. That obviously meant Udina. The Executor was dead but there was no sign of Esheel. Then I saw her. She had been down below and for some reason decloaked. When I updated Bailey, an assassin dropped down near Esheel. I got down there ASAP. It was three on one but the assassin thought it was no challenge. He went for Udina, but that's when Thane showed up. Those two fought, he stabbed Thane in the gut and took off in a skycar that was waiting for him. I took one of my own and followed but he caused it to crash.
Had to fight Cerberus troops and protect civilians while chasing the assassin. Based on the tracker I had on the Council, the assassin was heading their way. Here I encountered Nemesis and Phantom agents. They'd be difficult up close but the Krysae Sniper Rifer tore them to pieces without having to get up close. Caught up with the assassin at the elevators. We followed, with Bailey sabotaging their elevator and speeding ours up. We rode on the outside which gave an advantage.
Finally reached the elevator the Council was on. Leaped over to it but, naturally, they thought it was the assassin and fired on me. They exited and I entered the elevator to follow them. I had my gun trained right on Udina but Kaidan was confused. Didn't help that Udina accused me of being with Cerberus. I lowered my gun and had Liara and Garrus do the same. Kaidan decided to trust me. When Udina tried to open the doors Kaidan told him to step away. He refused. The asari councilor tried to reason with him but he shoved her to the ground and drew his gun. Kaidan shot Udina. He's a damn good shot, too, because it went right through the heart. Yeah, we might not get info out of him but if he's possibly indoctrinated then we probably wouldn't get anything useful anyway. Plus side, the Council was finally on my side. This Council was more reasonable than the first but now they understood me.
Authorized deportation of a con man from the Citadel. There were far more worthy refugees who could use his space.
Normandy: When I stepped into the airlock, Kaidan was waiting for me. He didn't like having an armed standoff with someone he loved. He thought I would have shot him if he hadn't backed down. I told him that could never happen. He also second guessed himself with the shooting but I told him he'd made the right decision. Then he said Hackett offered him a position, probably one that suited his rank. But he'd turn it down if he could join the Normandy. As if he had to ask. I missed Kaidan having my six. And, I have to admit, it was nice watching his six as he walked away.
QEC with Hackett and Anderson. They were surprised to hear about Udina but not shocked. However, they now recognize that working together is the best route to take. All Council species are now on board. Also, the quarians wanted to talk and I needed to go to them. The biggest fleet in the galaxy would be a huge asset.
Liara passed on a request from the Asari High Command. They were vague about their needs other than to say that they'd send commandos to investigate something and needed me to check it out.
War Assets: 3056 + Citadel Defense Force + Zhu's Hope Colonists + Asari Science Team + Asari Second Fleet + Asari Sixth Fleet + MORE Krogan Clans post-Allers interview + STG Task Force + Turian Sixth Fleet = 3624 x 62% = 2246.
Traynor had a lead on ex-Cerberus scientists on the run from Cerberus. Definitely worth checking out. Traynor told me that she was from Horizon and that if it hadn't been for me working with Cerberus back then she'd likely have been abducted and turned into Reaper good. So she wasn't completely opposed to people who had once seen Cerberus in a positive light but wanted out when they started killing everyone in their path.
Emails: Hackett ordered the crew to shore leave, Hackett passed on the assassin's dossier - he's a former N7 named Kai Leng who was dishonorably discharged, Vega wants to talk, Victus asked me to investigate a volus ambassador, Bakara sends her thanks, Aresh - who had survived Pragia along with Jack - helped a shuttle escape Elysium that was being attacked by Reapers forces at the cost of his life, Jack wants to meet at Purgatory, Allers wants an interview in my cabin, Traynor is ready to play chess.
Crew check-ins: Traynor: All good; Garrus: observing the memorial wall, asked if I could have shot Kaidan and I told him no; Kaidan: his mother is fine but his father rejoined the Alliance and went MIA, presumed deceased; Chakwas: wanted me to broker a trade of meds with refugees on the Citadel. They didn't trust her but she thought they'd trust me; Liara: Decided not the plant an informant on the Council staff post-coup; Engineering: Everything going well; Allers: reminded me she wanted an interview; Cortez: disappointed in Udina; Vega: New shoot first ask questions later when it comes to politicians; Pets: Enjoying ship life; Joker: unhappy with Cerberus and not a fan of Kaidan aiming a gun at me; EDI: Decided the Reapers are more fallible than they claimed and wanted to know the purpose of synthetic life, particularly since reproduction wasn't a goal. I could only offer that humans found purpose outside of reproduction. She altered her programming to follow my stated goals of duty, altruism and love. I wasn't suggesting EDI need emulate humans but I'm not going to argue with her about it.
Traynor came to my cabin to play chess. I had a suspicion that she was far better at this than mean, despite my tactical skills. As she pointed out, the battlefield isn't confined to an 8x8 square grid. She won. Twice. Still, EDI's instincts were right (do AI have instincts?) about Traynor. Huge asset to the Normandy.
Quarian Envoy Ship: I had Garrus, Liara and Kaidan back with me. Wrex wasn't an option but I could get Tali so I headed out to speak to the quarians. I was disappointed to have to deal with the admirals. I pretty much hated all of them. And the reasons why were illustrated when I learned that, in the midst of the Reaper invasion, the quarians decided to go to war with the geth. Fucking idiots. It would have been fine except that the geth allied themselves with the Reapers to save themselves. They got an upgrade that made them far more powerful than the quarians and it was likely that the quarians would be destroyed. The signal came from a geth dreadnought and I had to go on board to to disable it. It was only when they told me their newest admiral would be accompanying me that I felt better - it was Tali.
Geth Dreadnought: Tali and Kaidan were coming with me but the one unsecured docking tube was a wreck. I went to secure it and would have the others follow. Fortunately, the stealth drive kept the Normandy hidden and, as Tali had previously pointed out, the geth ships didn't use windows. We were essentially invisible. The tube broke off when I got to the other side so I was going to have to secure a different tube. I got them on board and Tali gave us access to the rest of the ship.
We made our way to the operations center but the Reaper signal couldn't be locked down from there. We had to go to the source by way of the maintenance tunnels. Got a message en route from Admiral Raan. Admiral Koris's ship had been shot down by a planetary defense cannon. Fate unknown. And he was always the most reasonable of the admirals even if he wrongly brought Tali to trial a while back. He was, at least, trying to prevent the quarians from going to war with the geth.
The maintenance tunnels themselves were a death trap, shooting electrical bursts at us a regular intervals. Dodging that and killing geth was no easy task. When we got to the point where the Reaper signal was being transmitted, we found none other than Legion. It had all kinds of cables holding it in place. It also asked for help. I identified it to Kaidan as a friend but he was skeptical, believing all geth were reprogrammed by the Reapers. Legion confirmed that the geth only allied with the Reapers because they didn't want to be destroyed by the quarians. Tali was understandably conflicted. She didn't believe any circumstances should lead to a Reaper alliance but also knew her own people put themselves in this position.
Once we freed Legion he shut down the dreadnought's drive core, disabling the weapons and barriers. That just made Gerrel stupid. He launched an attack with us still on board. It's like that asshole never learns. The whole reason for this mission was to allow time for the civilian fleet to escape. Now that chance was lost. Even Raan was forced to support him but very much against her will.
Normandy: Hackett told me we needed the geth fleet but damn if I hadn't reached my limit with the short-sighted quarian decisions. Garrel wanted me to agree with him that he made the right decision. Not only did I disagree, but he'd also endangered the mission and my squad and his people. I punched him in the gut and threw him off my ship. I refused to deal with him directly any longer. And when Legion showed up Xen tried to argue with me about letting her study with him. Did she not just see how I reacted to her Gerrel's idiocy? That geth was far more trustworthy than half the quarian admirals.
Emails: Gianna Parasini is helping with the Crucible, Liara wants to meet on the Citadel, Garrus wants to meet near the C-Sec shuttles, Maelon was glad to hear that his work had led to a genophage cure, Kaidan wanted dinner at Apollo's Cafe, Joker wanted me to meet he and EDI at Purgatory, Miranda wanted to meet up again.
Citadel: Dinner with Kaidan at Apollo's Cafe. We had a heart-to-heart, long overdue. Kaidan said he wanted to be with me and I had to admit I really wanted him, too. So we decided to give it a go. Hell, if we were gonna die anyway we may as well break all the rules. Since he's my XO, and Liara is using his office, I figured maybe he could bunk with me. I had the space for it.

Volcanic Hunt on Insanity is pure evil. I have never beat Volcanic Hunt on Insanity. As for Time Trials, having Liara and Kaidan are pretty much required. Liara's Lift + Singularity + Throw and Kaidan's Lift + Throw + Neural Shock makes it easier to lock everyone down. Enemies spawn in 3-4 areas, so you can bum-rush the area, lock everyone down before they can use Immunity, then kill them all. As for Pistols: you absolutely need Master Marksman. Having the Pistols achievement (+25% duration of Marksman) also helps to keep it up even longer. Master Marksman gives pistols slightly higher damage-per-second (DPS) than equivalent assault rifles. All of this to say: you need to be level 50+ with Spectre weapons and everyone with two Medical Exoskeleton armor mods. Also, using Tungsten or Shredder ammo mods on weapons is a must. The holograms are susceptible to the same organic/synthetic vulnerabilities as their non-holo counterparts.

Dear Ashley,
I now have two of the old team with me! I found Tali on Haestrom doing research into that systems sun. She says it's aging way faster than it should; all I know is it fried the hell out of our shields and Kal'Reegar, one of the Quarian forces their to protect Tali, told me that it had been murder on all their equipment as well... didn't seem to affect the geth though. They had arrived there shortly after the Quarians and had pretty much decimated them. Fortunately though, not before they managed to get Tali secure in a bunker. The geth were trying to force the bunker door and Reegar was about the only one left outside. It was a good thing that we arrived when we did or no one would have made it out alive.
After scooping up Tali, we stopped in at Illium. Liara was there but won't join me. She seems very obseessed about the Shadow Broker... something about him kidnapping her friend... boyfriend? Anyway, I don't think you have to worry about her trying to seduce me anymore... not that I was ever interested in anyone but you back then.
BTW, we picked up another recruit on Illium... a dying assassin. Gah, I wish the Illusive Man would send me some decent dossiers!
Miss you more than ever. V.

SPOILER Alert for those who haven't read Revelation Anita Goyle and the Council scenes in the book are some of my favorite of Drew's writing. The dialogue just crackles, and is a really great precedent for our own future entanglements with the Council. Also Goyle was the Ambassador Shepard and humanity deserved, alas, we were stuck with Donnel "SEND YOUR FLEETS IN!!!" Udina *sigh*

From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy: From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy, CO Commander Abigail Shepard reporting, August 3rd, 2185.
So for being a suicide mission, that was relatively....I don't wanna say easy...but the Collector Ship with the Praetorians was probably the most difficult. Though I know I did not face the worse of it. My squad did. Regardless. We faught through waves of Collectors. Tali got a bit singed, Garrus got a bit shot up, and we got the crew back to the Normandy.
Then there was this big Reaper...thing. Bit curious still as to why it looked like a human skeleton, didn't look very space worthy, but we stopped them. And then blew the hell out of the base. I was tempted to keep it, but I know what Reaper technology can do to people. It is something I face every time I go out there into the galaxy. That my mind could be ripped from me. I've seen it with the Cerberus crew, with the Salarians, with Saren and Benezia. Its difficult to imagine. I can't blame TIM, but I also cannot trust him to use the power wisely. Sooo, yeah. the Suicide mission is done. And it only took me an hour. Only died once. And got everyone was alive. So now I have to wonder if I should import this save into ME 3 or stick to importing my canon 'world state' into ME 3, with Mordin dead? As I debate this, and input is welcome, time to go do the Normandy Crash sight and then Arrival.

Mark Shepard:
Lessus: Doing what Asari High Command asked. Turns out this is an Ardat-Yakshi monastery. Too bad no one mentioned this before. Bringing Kaidan (because, dammit, I want him with me! Plus, he's a powerful biotic and we're potentially facing powerful biotics.) and Tali. Liara seems the obvious choice but she might have preconceptions here that I don't want to deal with. Someone else also arrived shortly before us. Inside, we heard some really strange screaming. Nothing like any asari I'd encountered, including Morinth. It sounded monstrous.
Audio messages and logs I found made these asari sound like teenage girls away at boarding school rather than terrifying monsters. Even Morinth, for all that she would ultimately kill anyone she connected with, was otherwise charismatic and likable. They got a raw deal. Then I found dead cannibals and the corpse of an asari commando. That shriek then took on a whole new dimension as I realized we might be facing asari husks. Also found a map to the Great Hall where the commandos had planted a bomb. Very final. I suppose Ardat-Yakshi roaming the galaxy freely sounds unappealing, especially given that the ones who go bad leave behind "astronomical body counts".
When we entered the next room we saw a cannibal drop down dead. Then Samara entered view. She was here for her daughters, the two who had opted to go to the monastery rather than prey on others for the rest of their lives. We connected with one of those daughters, Falere. She said the Reapers were turning them into the monstrous shrieking creatures that I'm calling banshees. The banshees had taken her sister Rila. Falere took off and Samara followed. They were both able to jump off a ledge and float gently to the ground. No human has ever accomplished that feat, though if an enemy were below I could reach it with a biotic charge. That's not very gentle.
We made it to the Great Hall. Samara, Falere and Rila were all there. Rila momentarily attacked Falere and her eyes turned to black orbs. It was obvious she was undergoing a transformation into a Reaper. Yet, she had the detonator and planned to use it. She knew it was too late for her but she had a chance to save Falere and take out the banshees. I struggled to get Falere out and Rila went out a hero.
Outside, Samara decided to kill herself because her Justicar code dictated that an Ardat-Yakshi could not live outside the monastery and she was unwilling to kill her last daughter. I stopped her just in time. Falere said she would remain on Lessus, which was okay with the code, and that the Reapers would not take her alive. Samara was satisfied, promising to return later should she be alive after the war.
Normandy: The asari councilor Irissa contacted me to thank me for helping. As payment, an asari commando squad that was headed for Lessus would now be used against the Reapers. Score!
War Assets: [original number] + Citadel Defense Force update + Asari Commandos + Samara = 3672 x 69% = 2533.
Crew check-ins: Tali doubts she should be an admiral but Raan says she's worthy; Joker was happy I saved Samara; EDI was monitoring Space Weather since the comm buoys that would normally provide warning were destroyed; Traynor mentioned that the asari are not helping with the Crucible; Kaidan was sympathetic about Rila's fate; Chakwas reminded me about the medical trade; Liara felt bad for the fate of the Ardat-Yakshi; Garrus was schooling Ensign Copeland in enemy tactics; the engineers were discussing what the Illusive Man drinks and what that says about him; Allers explaining to Traynor why it's a terrible idea to do a story on the Ardat-Yakshi; Cortez and Vega were discussing the merits of the Mako, the Hammerhead, the Grizzly and the Kodiak.
Emails: Thanix cannons are being installed on all front line Council ships, Asari Commandos ready for deployment, Samara headed for the front lines.
Tali came to my cabin. She's really feeling the weight of being an admiral and believing the fate of the entire Migrant Fleet is in her hands. She still doesn't trust herself but she's doing the right thing, especially since she accepted the position to stop the worst decisions (and there's been a lot of them) from coming to fruition.
Another interview with Allers. I really had to hype humanity because humans are feeling lost with Alliance command destroyed, no human councilor and fears that Cerberus is everywhere. At the end, she flirted with me, likely unaware of my relationship with Kaidan. I'm sure it was harmless but I made it clear I liked keeping our relationship strictly in front of the camera.
James wanted to talk. He was forwarded an N7 commendation dating from the day of the Reaper invasion. He felt some of his decisions made him unworthy but I told him the opposite was true. Making the hard calls when it was essentially a no-win situation was probably a big reason why he was invited. I told him that, if the program continued post-war, he should accept.
Gellix: Investigating the ex-Cerberus scientists. Gotta make sure this is legit and not some Cerberus trick. Conversely, if they are legit we need their knowledge at work on the Crucible. Taking Kaidan and James. We encountered Cerberus troops the moment we hit the ground. Truthfully, I love taking out Cerberus guys just as much as Blue Suns mercs. Since the Blue Suns have been redirected to be useful, that leaves Cerberus. They're worse than mercs because they're not even doing this for the money. After a fight, I found a wounded Jacob. Not my favorite person and he's still stupid. Wants to engage the enemy while seriously wounded even though I'm present with me squad. [I'll finish this mission later, possibly repeating the above.]

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2:
Korlus - Recruit the Warlord
Shepard, Kasumi, and Jacob landed on Korlus, looking for a krogan warlord named Okeer. The dossier compiled by Cerberus indicated that Dr Okeer was obsessed with curing the genophage, and may have been in contact with the Collectors looking for technology to assist with that goal. He was reported to be a Blue Suns Mercenary base on the planet.
The Blue Suns apparently had a “shoot first, don't ask questions later” policy, because they opened fire before Shepard could request a meeting with Okeer. Shepard and her team defended themselves, then interrogated a merc that had been wounded in the fighting. Okeer was breeding krogan that the local Suns leader - Jedore - wanted to use as an army, but the krogan were “crazy” and the Suns had to put them all down. He didn't know much else, so Shepard let him go after he had radioed the rest of his squad to divert them away.
They headed toward the heart of the base, walking past many krogan bodies and dealing with more Blue Suns as the went. They came across a krogan battling another group of Blue Suns, and when the fighting was over the krogan agreed to talk. He spoke more eloquently - and cryptically - than most krogan Shepard had encountered in the past. He was tank-bred, although it did not appear Okeer had replicated Saren's genophage cure. Evidently, Okeer's goal was to “ignore” the genophage, whatever that meant. The krogan had only been out of the tank for 7 days, but had learned from “the voice” how to fight. He was taught enough to test for something, but had been rejected by Okeer for not being “perfect”. Shepard asked why the krogan didn't want to escape, or even come with them, but he stated that he had a purpose and needed to remain where he was.
They continued to the lab, defeating various krogan and mercs along the way. After all that pointless slaughter, they finally encountered someone willing to talk instead of shooting on sight. It turned out the be Rana Thanoptis, the asari scientist Shepard had met on Virmire. She had put her skills to work creating an imprint program to educate Okeer's tank born krogan, and reaffirmed that Okeer was trying to help his people but not tyring to cure the genophage. Knowing Shepard's way of operating, she decided to run away before Shepard blew the place up.
They finally reached Okeer, who confirmed his dealings with the Collectors but claimed the tech had been “consumed in my prototype”. The prototype being another tank-bred krogan, this one apparently meeting Okeer's definition of perfection - “one pure soldier” who would help the krogan defeat the genophage by ignoring it. Okeer knew that a cure for the genophage and a return of the hordes would draw a “nuclear response” from the rest of the galaxy, so he was going for quality over quantity, believing that a relatively small number of "perfect" soldiers could return the krogan to greatness.
Shepard was about to ask Okeer to join them on the Normandy - he was a bit nuts, but had expertise they could use - when they were rudely interrupted by Jedore. Unable to control the army of Okeer's rejects, she called "blank slate" on the project and attempt to kill everybody off with poison gas. Okeer asked Shepard and her companions to deal with Jedore while he saved his "legacy".
Shepard, Kasumi and Jacob entered the breeding chamber and finished off Jedore, along with a heavy mech and a few krogan. By the time they got back to the lab, however, Okeer had saved the tank-born krogan but sacrificed himself in the process. Shepard ordered the Normandy to pick up the tank - they had their krogan recruit, just not the one they were expecting.

From the Personal Logs of the SSV Normandy: Sooo, yeah. the Suicide mission is done. I'd import your save game, but after the crash site and Arrival. I always do the crash site first. For RP purposes it's the very first thing I can do to show that I would be with the Alliance if they were doing anything at all to stop the Collectors. But they're not so here I am as a Spectre who is allowed to do whatever it takes to get the job done. If that means aligning with the enemy temporarily, so be it. However, I haven't forgotten my origins or ignored those who weren't fortunate enough to have four billion credits spent on reviving them. You think they could have found Ash's, um, ashes on Virmire and cloned her back into existence? I mean if Shepard could have his memories after his brain was basically turned to mush, I'm sure something could be done for Ash.

First off she is a very practicaly minded woman. The mission comes first and she could not have been running around the ruins of the Normandy while the rest of humanity is under threat. And secondly because she feels that will be able to put them more at peace now that the force that defeated them in the first place has themselves been defeated.

Today, Benjamin did stuff. Some N7 mission, saved his best boy Jacob, visited Thessia, checked out a monastery, found a giant cuttlefish, ruined the Armax arena, watched b-ball with Steve, visited Sanctuary, had a party, shoved an omni blade up Kai Leng's ass, went to Earth and became a Reaper. Sorry Steve. The little glowing twit did manage to talk me out of it at first. But it felt wrong during the sliders. Also learned that I can't cheat the crappy save system of this game and copy and paste an older auto save. So had to go through Shields again. This is why no one loves you ME3 >:C Well it could have been worse. And I got to see the full paragon resolution of TIM again. It was glorious. As for new stuff. Have never gotten top score in the Arena nor done the Unusual numbers quest, so that was quite fun. Had to do the last bit twice, since the Banshees in the first round were on Speed or something. Just swoosh, right on top of Benjamin's shoulders. Crazy stuff. Also tried Relay Defense. That was kind of fun. But didn't get the high score this time around. Too bad Towers of Hanoi was unavailable. Anywhos, will probably be looking at ME1 next when I'm in the Mass Effect mood, since the ME3 bunch is done and the ones left in ME2 don't quite fit my plans at the moment. Have also been sneaking into the character creator and made (too many :C) faces that I'm fond of. So they need some kind of story, right?

Curious Crow Are you on PC? If so, you can rename the last autosave file to something else and then reload it. No need to sacrifice that heroic Marauder again.
